Love this place! My only complaint is that I spend too much $$ here as everything is good. Been here 4 times in the past several years -every time we visit Jacksonville - but on 12-29 - we had the best visit. Came for wife's birthday. Being a week night -was not too busy. Salad bar is amazing. My 2 youngest kids had kids meals that seemed better the most full meals at other places. My son got a steak for his kids meal. Love their selection of seafood. This time I actually skipped getting a meal. Got the salad bar, Lobster bisque, east meets west tuna. The staff were very friendly. Sand happy bday to my wife and all that good stuff. Desserts are really good here. Also came here on a vacation a few years back for Christmas - in laws from overseas loved it! Definitely not worth the price. We were seated after our reservation time even though we were there over an hour early. The drinks we got from the bar, the mule, I couldn't even drink it due to the sourness. I did not go back to the bar because it was to busy so my husband finished it. For dinner we got two filets and a side of lobster. The lobster came out 20ish minutes are the main course, which I was willing to wait on. The filets were charred on the sides to the point my filet tasked burnt. The lobster was tough and hard to eat. The only positive aspect of the night was our server who's name was Tucker! He was spot on and even had the lobster taken off the bill. Highly recommend waiting to have Tucker as a server! read more

Must come for happy hour drinks! Great selection of cocktails and beer with a beautiful view. The restaurant's atmosphere is very contemporary and modern (a little more fancy than just casual dress). I probably would only come here for happy hour drinks, the happy hour food is alright. Ahi nachos only came with 4 pieces of tuna on 4 chips, and Kim Chee calamari mostly consisted of vegetables. we went to the Chart House on 1/28/23 for a special occasion the ambiance was great the food was really GOOD, but the service was very lacking. Ist of all for the money we paid and to have to sit through our meal to not have a drink refill. And we had to ask the waiter at the table behind us to get our drinks. And he did not mind we sat there and waited for him to come back to us after 20 mins. he did. By this time when the host came by, we asked to speak to a mgr. when the mgr. came over. We explained what was going on he said that he was sorry about the ordeal and would talk to the waiter. We asked for drinks to go he brought me that and a desert after another 20 mins. Usually when we have gone here, we have excellent food and service they did take $10.00 off for my soup that I could not eat too salty. I paid the bill and left. Oh, and parking has become impossible because someone has taken half of the parking lot and you must have a decal, or you will get towed. read more

Flight got grounded in JAX due to bad weather. But, I was hoping to turn lemons into lemonade when I found a Chart House local to the area. Growing up in Daytona Beach, I had frequented the Chart House there for special occasions. The ambiance was great. I had a table with a view of the water. I wonder if Frank Lloyd Wright built all the Chart House restaurants? I started off with some Blue Point oysters from Delaware. They were medium-sized, not too salty and very tasty. Next I had a cup of the New England clam chowder, which was real good. It was creamy and rich with clams and potatoes, unlike some others I've tried. Being in FL, I figured I had to hit a seafood dish. I opted for seared scallops that were prepared Asian fusion style with rice and bokchoy. Unfortunately, this dish wasn't up to par. The scallops were small, not well seared and didn't taste fresh. The bokchoy was overcooked, and the dish was too salty with the soy sauce. I also had a glass Sauvignon Blanc from St. Supery. I've had the pleasure of visiting this vineyard, which has some great value on whites in my opinion. I think I hit the bottom of the bottle as it was pretty oxidized. I should have sent it back but didn't have the heart to do it. Service was good, not great. For the prices, I would have expected it to be a bit more attentive. Net-net: not sure I got the value for my spend. But, I'm willing to give it another chance next time I'm in town. read more

It has been 18 years since I last stepped into The Chart House. My family decided to take me their for Mother's Day. I ordered the Stuffed Flounder with a side of creamed spinach while my daughter ordered the Stuffed Flounder with a side of asparagus. Neither one of us were fond of the 'stuffing'. It was mushy and lacked flavor and texture. Our sides on the other hand were made with more love than our entrees. My asparagus were crisp and seasoned with the right amount of salt and pepper. The creamed spinach was not heavy and was seasoned to perfection as well. As for a next time, it will be more for the bar menu and the beautiful river view. read more

The manager Mark Rojas is by far the BEST manager and goes above and beyond for his customers! I have been coming to Charthouse for many years and I used to get what was on the old menu a teriyaki/mango filet well they did away with years ago.. since then they would always jmake the sauce for me because they had the supplies in the kitchen well recently they stopped carrying the mango supplies needed for my sauce. Well when I called for my birthday reservation and wanted my special sauce Mark went out and bought the supplies and made the sauce himself for me. To start the location and view is 5 stars worthy! And then the food. We started with the Shrimp, Crab, Avocado and Mango Stack. It was really good. Then I had a salad, from the Chart House Farmer's Bar. I love building my own salad. Did we discuss the view? My wife had the Key West Spiced Grouper and I had the King Crab Legs with one of the 7 ounce lobster tails. Everything was prepared well and worth the money. The service was superb which made for a real nice dining experience. And to top it off the car was sitting there waiting for us. You didn't have to wait until the pulled the car around. read more

More than one dinner napkin dirtied with food from previous diners, poor service. It's in a great location, but the windows were dirty and obstructed the view. Went to supper 4 hours after the Jaguar/Packers game. Said it would be 50 minutes for a table or could go to the bar for immediate seating. An hour later we got our drinks, a beer and a tea and also ordered our food. 30 minutes later I was told they were out of grouper so I ordered tuna, told the waitress 10 seconds each side. 30 minutes later got our food but the tuna was over cooked and got the wrong side dish. 2 and a half hours just to spend $96.00 for not good food. We did not spend time to complain because we needed to catch the last water taxi. Missed it complained on their web site but no response. Will never go back. We were there as a "date night while on family vacation" and also for the other half's birthday. This was also our first time in Jacksonville. We enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. Calm vibe. We were seated in curved booth that faced out to the water - making for a more romantic experience. I have a bit of a strict diet and they were very accommodating to that. Our server, Kelly, was extremely pleasant, patient, and helpful in her recommendations on menu items. Would definitely recommend Chart House would return to try more dishes. read more

The Miso maple glazed salmon with asparagus was delicious, my wife loved the salad bar and her coconut crunchy shrimp. Our first time there and it was over the top amazing!!! Our server Chris was top notch and the food was delicious. We both did the salad bar, which OMG!!!!! A meal in itself. He had the filet and it was tender and cooked perfectly. I had the prime rib which was to die for. The creamed spinach was creamy, hot and delicious. The asparagus was just perfect too. Landry's is the new TGIFridays. This is nothing but your typical Landry's property. Still OK. But not great. Will you get a half way decent meal at a good location? Sure... but you're not going to be wow-ed by a sysco frozen piece of fish. Instead, you're just going to pay a lot and feel like you've been had. FOH staff is a hair below average. Our waiter made several mistakes and didn't care enough to even acknowledge them. Awesome location! With some management intervention, this property could be a gem. This was our first visit to the Charthouse. We went on the Saturday before Valentine's Day. We had reservations and only had to wait a few minutes before being seated. Our server was Vince and he was great. The ambiance was perfect. The food was tasty. So why the 3 stars? Our first course came out in a reasonable amount of time. I thought, for them to be so busy, this is great! Well... let's not get ahead of ourselves. The main course took approximately 40min to come and on top of that.... the food was LUKE WARM/COLD. We couldn't believe it! What a disappointment. The only thing that came hot was the mushrooms that came out sizzling on a cast iron plate, which my husband used to warm his steak, which was under cooked. The manager did come by and we informed him of the cold food and undercooked steak. He took the steak and cooked it a little longer. I opted to just take my food home. With all of that being said, we WILL try the Charthouse again because I just believe they can do better. We'll see! read more

The appetizers were amazing. Everything was going good with great service until the entrees. The fish we ordered were very dry and lacked flavor. We were not provided sauce and the salt shakers worked very poorly. I ordered the Parmesan Snapper and didn't even get a hint of Parmesan, and it was dry. Another person at my table ordered the swordfish and some of it was burnt. When desert came around, one of the ice creams on the lava cake was fallen over, and the lava cake was just a brownie with ice cream. Chart House is one of the places I chose for a 'treat' or special night out. Last night was one of those nights as a friend and I were going to the Jacksonville Symphony - The Texas Tenors performance. Dinner was a true treat and lived up to my memories of my previous visits. We shared the Thai, Shrimp, and Coconut Soup as we were both curious about the taste. It was yummy with a variety of flavors. I then enjoyed the Chopped Spinach Salad with warm bacon dressing. This is a favorite salad of mine that is very hard to find today. It was as good as I'd remembered and savored every bite. I ended my meal with the Amber Flame Grouper that I requested a bit of special preparation with - it was done beautifully and was truly delicious. Eric was our waiter. He is very knowledgable of the menu and could discuss each item we asked about and was willing to consult with the chef on my special entree request. It is obvious he LOVES his waiting career. To preface: Made reservation 2 weeks in advance PLUS received a confirmation text around noon on 12/24. We HAD a reservation for Christmas Day; 2 @ 6:15pm. Arrived @ 6:05 pm. ZERO, I mean ZERO social distancing being enforced. Didn't know restaurants were @ 100% capacity @ this stage of pandemic. We practically had to stand outside door b/c of very crowded entry/lobby. The bar was wall to wall people. Took 20 minutes for line to move so we could check in for 6:15 reservation. By that time it was 6:20. Listening to others around us, an hour wait to be seated. Was lead to believe RESERVATION ONLY DUE TO HOLIDAY. Looked/sounded as if walk up business was seated in addition to reservations. Bad practice if so. Needless to say, left w/o eating. Restaurant lost out on at least $150 check plus a highly generous tip for our server. HIGHLY doubtful we'll EVER return to Chart House due to such incompetence. My next call is to manager and then corporate. What good is a reservation IF it can't be honored in a reasonable manner? Why make one? read more

One would think Thanksgiving staples would be an easy order for a fine dining seafood and steak restaurant but the dry stale CROUTON filled dressing, cafeteria style turkey with gravy, canned creamed spinach and STORE BOUGHT pecan pie said otherwise. I don't know if I'm more disappointed that I actually paid $46.05 plus tip or that I didn't cast the whole tragedy off the riverwalk. Understandably times are tough, but the standard of quality for the food you serve ought to remain high. Covid or not, Chart House please do better by the patrons who are choosing to support your business. read more

First let me say the salad bar is excellent. A bit pricy if you must eat in the bar area. And that brings the real problem. At 5:05 pm on Saturday of the Florida Georgia game a friend and I went in to have a dinner. We were refused a table in a completely empty restaurant stating they were full (with reservations)! No tables seated but o e may have arrived after we did. Not able to seat us in the restaurant area with a waterfront table yet NONE we taken. We sat in the bar where it is first come first serve. There were numerous staff roaming around talking and another person at the bar. At some point during the 45 minutes we were there another table came in. Only one! I would say that the Chart House not only lost revenue between them holding tables for their "reservations" that were gone to be arriving after our departure but they lost any hope of Chart House ever being on my list of "go to" again. Management and owners take note, there are too many other options to tie a away a party of 2 in your empty restaurant. So the $17 salad bar as good as the food was, was not worth the price to eat in the bar. If we had had a table waterfront, we would have had a drink and a meal! Good luck! read more

My wife and I ate here on a Friday night via a reservation through open table. Or table was ready when we arrived almost 15 minutes early. Our waiter Burt was attentive without being clingy, had great insight and made excellent suggestions. We had the kim chee calamari for our appetizer which was way better than it sounds. I had stuffed flounder for my main course while the wifey had one of the best filet mignons that I've ever tried. I made reservations at Chart House based on the 4-star avg reviews I saw about a week ago on Yelp. (I was also familiar with the Savannah location I visited as a child). When I checked back on Yelp, I noticed the avg ratings dropped to 3-star. Although a bit skeptical, I kept the reservation. I am sure glad I did! The service, food, and view were all excellent. This was my first time trying caviar, which was available on the salad buffet. As an added bonus, we received extra personalized menus to take home as well as a "thank you" card signed by the employees. I would say, Kyle our server, really helped make the experience a memorable one. I'm from Savannah, which has a chart house, and while the food at both is excellent I will say that the building that Jacksonville's Chart House resides in is absolutely gorgeous! Our server told us that the architect was an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright and it shows, stunning. I would also like to add that the GM Mark is better than Savannah's Eric. Trickery and Treachery, Had a company event at the chart house. Wait staff made pricing promises that sounded too good to be true. I mentioned that fact three times to the waitress and asked her if I could verify with the manager prior to placing the order. She said, "of course" and returned a few minutes later and said that she verifiied that all bottles of wine ordered were included in the fixed price of the dinner. I mentioned again that sounded ridiculous and asked her to check again. She insisted that it was included. All was good until when I was leaving and asked for a detailed itemized receipt. Turns out it was a lie. I stayed around for 45 minutes to speak to the manager and catering manager. Both said that there was nothing that they could do. Lot's of nice words, but no action to correct the problem. Do not frequent this restaurant unless you are ok with this type of behavior and enjoy financial surprises at the end of the meal. Have never seen anything like this before.
