We had a great time at Chart House. Ordered all the good stuff we were craving starting with the crab and lobster fondue with Oaxaca cheese. It was meaty and cheesy. We had to wait at the bar for a good 40 minutes even with a reservation but we got to see two giant steak plates arrive and realized we could just share one plate. So we ordered steak and twin lobster tails. Sizzling mushrooms were good. Also ordered the Chimichurri sauce but didn't see it on the steak. We opted for the instagrammable drinks and still need to edit. They were pretty strong so I can't remember the names but the purple tequila one was way too strong. It was pretty but we didn't finish it. The staff was super friendly like treated us as if we were friends. Even asking us about other tourist spots and casual conversations. It wasn't annoying like it can be sometimes. Or we were so liquored up that we were extra friendly as well. The rotating dining area was fun. The view was great. They should dim that exit sign tho because the reflection was in all my pics. The bar was a cool spot as well. Two suspect ladies at the end looked like they were for hire with their glances. Creepy. Took the family here for dinner one night while visiting San Antonio... Made a reservation easily on the open table app. We were seated pretty quickly upon arrival, and wow, talk about amazing view! We were quickly greeted by our server Victor, who said he was new, but he carried himself like an old pro, and was very helpful and very knowledgeable. My partner and I recently had the opportunity to visit Chart House at The Tower of the Americas. We have been to another Chart House in Lake Charles, which we enjoyed, but this location failed to do the same. Besides the attraction of a unique experience, the service and food were not worth the costs. Service, IMO, began with the elevator attendant, an older gentleman, who was okay, but the young lady on the way down looked miserable and made no effort to be friendly. The next service experience was the host stand, which had 2 to 3 people at it. Again, they were just okay; not very friendly, nor attentive, just going through the motions. The young lady who walked us to our table was polite and engaged in conversation. Finally, the final service experience was our waitress. She was nice, friendly, and also engaged in conversation throughout our dinner. Unfortunately, it was not enough to salvage the overall lack of service. Moving on to their cocktails, which surprisingly, next to the view from a spinning restaurant, was the highlight of our experience. My partner had the Cucumber & Honey and added Vodka. I had the This is No Old Fashioned. Both were good, but my partner's was delicious and refreshing. For dinner, she ordered the 3 Course Meal with a Ceasar Salad, MISO MAPLE GLAZED SALMON, and MINI LAVA CAKE. I ordered the HERB CRUSTED + SLOW ROASTED PRIME RIB medium. The salad and dessert were the only enjoyable parts of the entire meal. I thought the salmon was one of the lease pleasant entrees I have ever had, but my partner felt it was decent. The prime rib was overcooked and lacked flavor. I took two bites and brought the rest home to my son. Overall, the entire experience except for the uniqueness of eating while 100s of feet in the air and slowly spinning was abysmal at best. We ordered drinks and before they could be made we had to leave because there were multiple BATS flying around and came within 2 feet of us. After talking to the manager, they admitted that they currently have a BAT PROBLEM in an enclosed restaurant! But apparently they do not feel it is necessary to shut down and exterminate and sanitizing before opening to serve food. They offered nothing except excuses. I will be calling the health department. I can't imagine having wild animals flying around is within health code. read more

As a local I feel like I should've know better than eating at a tourist trap, but I guess I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Last week I visited Chart House for lunch and thought about taking advantage of their Restaurant Week menu. Getting to the restaurant was super easy. You first need to meet with the host at the bottom level of the Tower of the Americas, and from there you get directed to the elevator that takes you directly to the restaurant. Since I had made a reservation we were seated immediately. The restaurant was pretty empty since it was lunch on a weekday. After getting seated that is where everything went south. It took half an hour for someone to take our order, and another half an hour to get our food. It felt pointless to have made a reservation if they were going to be that slow. The restaurant week menu looked very disappointing so decided to order steak from their regular menu. The meat was over seasoned and over cooked. The broccoli had no seasoning, and the mashed potatoes were equally as bad. I am only giving them two stars because of their nice wine selection and the views of downtown. There are plenty of places you can have a mediocre meal at in San Antonio and NOT have the added frustration of a 40 minute wait for an elevator when trying to leave! Keeping it short...... the filet mignon was overcooked. The shrimp they topped it with were overcooked and rubbery and the potatoes on the plate were cold. The crème brule was decent and I could have left with that being a happy thought..... but it took 30 minutes to get the bill paid followed by a 40 minute wait for the elevator to take us down. This fine dining restaurant serving seafood & steak and famous for their spectacular views is located 750-feet above inside the Tower of the Americas in the Hemisfair District in San Antonio... and what a view it was. We were walk-in guests with no reservation so there was some wait. After waiting about 30-mins we finally ascended the tower around 1:45p and got seated at 2:05p. So far so good. After placing our orders we were served our first course at 2:40p. For our main dish some of us wanted the prime rib but we were told by our server that it won't be ready until 4:00p. Okay that's cool. We ordered the NY Strip instead. By now we were super hungry. Our food wasn't served until 3:40p... if given another 20-mins we could've ordered the prime rib. We weren't even served complimentary bread until I had to ask. Server was apologetic. We each ordered the 3-course "Chart Your Course" meal. My NY Strip was delicious! Maybe I was just hungry but it was juicy, tasty and tender. The garlic mashed potato was a nice compliment to the steak. For dessert there was only one choice which was the Mini Lava Cake. I was a little nervous after reading reviews to come here. I knew we were getting a great view but for the prices I was hoping to get good food too. After having experienced both, idk where the bad reviews are coming from. For me the only downside was we were not able to go up to the observation deck after dinner unless we purchased a wrist band. I think for the price you spend at the restaurant, a trip to the observation deck should be included. Other than that yes we got great views, it was a bit of a cloudy day so we were not hot or uncomfortable. The food was 5 stars. I enjoyed that shrimp pasta too much! Both my daughter and husband had nothing but praise for the avocado burger and my husband devoured his fish & chips. He also enjoyed his 2 cocktails (ultimate margarita & caged tiki). We had a group of 12 decide to celebrate three birthdays at the Chart House. I saw that happy hour was from 4:30 to 7pm so some of our group got there early to take advantage with happy hour cocktails and small bites. The bar is one floor above the restaurant and doesn't rotate. The view is spectacular. They were busy, but the bartenders were fixing drinks and bringing out our appetizers quickly. I tried the spinach artichoke dip, and it was delicious. Definitely worth ordering and at $6 you can't go wrong. The prime rib sliders also looked impressive but knowing we would be having dinner soon I passed on ordering them. Once all 12 of us arrived we got seated for dinner (one floor below the bar level). Chart House is known for their prime rib so that's what most of us ordered. Medium rare, cooked to perfection, and delicious. We had several wait staff attending to us and the level of personal attention excellent. The staff were adept in timing the courses so everyone was served at the same time with space in between to socialize and enjoy the view. At the end of dinner the manager came out to thank us and brought chocolate lava cake to the three folks in our group celebrating birthdays. It was a nice touch to an already fabulous night. It's worth noting that parking at the Towers of America is $10 on non event nights. Spurs home games and other city events is $20+. read more

I haven't had a bad experience at a Chart House, no matter which city it has been in. This was no exception! Brandon was our server and he was so friendly and personable from the start. My coworker and friend ordered the prime rib (which he said was a little overcooked - he had ordered it "medium" but it was more "well done" than expected). I ordered the fresh catch sea bass with a side of creamed spinach. I loved my dishes as well as the sweet bread they brought out beforehand. It was too bad I had no room left for dessert by the time I was done. I would have liked to try the key lime pie - next time! We had the perfect table right up against the window - and we were there while the sun was still out, with views for miles in all directions! All in all a very nice experience. I made reservations at Chart House for a party of 6 to celebrate my graduation. Chart House is located inside of the Tower of Americas so when you call to make reservations you get Tower of Americas staff first. Once you select reservations they redirect your call. While making reservation I was asked if it was for a special occasion and I said yes I was graduating. She said they could personalize menu with a message and I requested "Congrats Dr.Ché". I also requested window seating. She made a note of it but said there were no guarantees. Upon arrival if you park there it's $20 ( Jan 2024). Then you have to walk in to tower and check in and they give you ticket to take elevator up. The elevator has an attendant and you have to wait to be taken up to Chart House. You can see view of San Antonio while taking the elevator ride up to restaurant. Then when you get to restaurant you have to check in with hostess and wait to be seated. Upon arrival we were seated immediately and did get the window seat so I was happy. Our server Jacob was AMAZING. He made good food and drink recommendations and was pleasant during our entire dining experience. Most of the folks at my table went with the chart your course option which allows for you to have 3 courses for $56. Course one is soup or salad course two is entree and course 3 is mini lava cake for dessert. No other options and no swapping for dessert. I decided to go with chart your course and had the lobster bisque, miso maple glazed salmon. I don't like lava cakes so for dessert I went with a creme brûlée flight. The salmon is paired with green beans and I added fingerling potatoes. The food was served warm. I prefer my food hot. The soup, salmon and green beans were okay in flavor despite unfavorable temp but the fingerlings potatoes were not good at all. They tasted old. The crème brûlée flight consisted of 3 flavors: original, salted caramel, espresso. The espresso is the only one I did not like. Overall, the experience was good and I think that was largely due to our server Jacob being pleasant. But there were three things that I did not like: 1. Even if you dine there, you're still expected to pay $12 per person to go to the observation deck. The staff pointed out that the state made the change. Despite whoever is responsible that is a bit offputting after you spent upwards of $500 on food. 2. I requested a red devil cocktail with modifications and was told the bartender did not know how to make the drink. The manager said if I wanted the drink they will try and make it but it would be a $26 charge. Being up charged for a drink you guys don't even know how to make is absurd. 3. The point of the personalized menu was to have it placed on the table for your guests to see. This was my experience at a Chart House in Atlantic City. This location only prints two for you that they wrap in ribbon. I guess they would've given it at the end of my dining experience. Since I didn't see it on the table, someone from my party, asked the hostess, and she said, they don't lay out at the table right away so the servers won't take them. Horrible experience. Since being stationed in San Antonio, I've been wanting to try out this restaurant. My husband surprised me and brought me for Mother's Day. We had reservations at 7:30. We ordered drinks and food. Our waiter Derik originally brought out the wrong drink and instead of trying to make it right, he said he'll make sure to bring the correct drink the next time... So, I decided to try it anyway. I didn't want to make a fuss. I ended up not liking the drink. He, brought the correct drink. We then ordered our meals. While waiting for our food, we order another drink and it took about 15 minutes to receive it. We had to constantly ask how long it would take. He kept saying it was coming. We watched everyone receive their drinks and their food. After about an hour... our food had still not been delivered. He told us that there was a wait on the lamb chops. So... we wait. Ordered another drink... took another 10 minutes. At this point, we have watched the people around us eat, drink and leave... and more people arrive and were seated. The manager finally comes around and apologized and offered free soup and told us she would take our food off of the bill. Our food FINALLY comes around or a little after 9pm. By now, the waiter probably came and checked once or twice and did not seem remorseful AT ALL. My steak finally came and was VERY pink, which is NOT what I ordered. He came back and brought the check with everything on it as if he and the manager did not discuss what she discussed with us. We wait maybe 10 more minutes and a DIFFERENT manager (Savannah) came after we had to ask him when the manager would come. She explains that when we return we would have a free appetizer and desert... We then asked why were we the ONLY people in our section that did not receive our food, seem to have horrible service and our food came out incorrectly? She then proceeded to say that she received word that they gave us the opportunity to correct our food and we declined.. Which was A LIE. I called the waiter over and he said that he NEVER told her that. At this point, we are PISSED because I feel like we were treated very poorly and accused of lying to possibly receive free food. She then offered half off of our meals the next time we dine in. We LEFT the food and paid for our drinks and walked out embarrassed and disappointed. It was absolutely breathtaking watching the sun go down but also the view of San Antonio was unbeatable! We started out with the Clam Chowder, and it was good. You can never go wrong with clam chowder. My husband got the ribeye, and I ordered the filet mignon. Each came with a side of mashed potatoes. Both steaks were cooked to perfectly. It was quite the experience, and you don't even realize you're moving unless you're looking out the window and notice a different view every couple minutes. My husband and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner here! I was a little frustrated about having to wait for our reservation time at a place this upscale however the experience was definitely worth it. It also appeared that there were several larger prom groups there for dinner, which could be why they were running behind. Back in October, my wife and I along with two other friends had an amazing dinner at the Chart House. The view is amazing and the restaurant design is very elegant. Based on that experience, we invited our entire family there for dinner at the end of our vacation together. It was an incredibly frustrating evening. Despite having a reservation at 6:30 p.m., it took the restaurant staff almost 30 minutes to get us seated. Then, our waiter got our drink orders and disappeared and never even got our food order until an hour later. Once we finally ordered, it took another hour before the food arrived but only after we brought our frustrations to the manager at that point. He said he would look into it but never got back to us. Once we finished dinner, our waiter was missing in action again and only brought desserts once half our party had been standing up ready to leave. When we received the bill, the manager only compensated $55 on a the check for a party of 12. It was not only frustrating but also embarrassing since we had really been promoting the restaurant to our family all week. I'm not sure I'd recommend this restaurant again moving forward. read more

The lobster bisque soup was delicious, the Caesar salad had a strange orange chipotle dressing on the plate, not a traditional Caesar dressing . The next course salmon (3oz) and crab was good but I was expecting bigger chunks of crab or crab leg, not just a tablespoon of minced crab like you get from a can. The rice had bell pepper and mango mixed in with the rice, it tasted strange. The prime rib was 30% fat and tough. It should have been tender as it was ordered medium rare. The atmosphere was a bit dark and maybe my eyes are getting older I had to use the fake candle to light my menu as well as the light on my phone. The menu was "Chart House classic" with not too many changes so of course we ordered our favorite since it was one of our original favs, Mac Nut Crusted fish with the peanut sauce. Opted for Sea Bass over Mahi because I like it better and unfortunately, it was fishy on first bite. Hubs took a bite from the other side and his bite was fishy too. I tried another bite, and it too was fishy and that was my last bite. I went to bite into the green beans and they were borderline raw and cool to the touch. The mango sticky rice was on point flavor wise but I was so disappointed I didn't eat any more. Prior to this, we had made reservations at another restaurant to take our son to dinner but decided to come back to enjoy the city view that we thought he would enjoy. Our server, Jarvis (both nights), was amazing and definitely well versed, very knowledgeable and classy in food service. He never missed a beat! Now the disappointment. The staff knew of our fishy fish on our first visit and knew we were coming back to give it another go at what we knew is usually amazing. We brought a nice bottle of Napa wine from home to enjoy with our meal (but didn't know we could not do that in Texas) so we even ordered a $100 bottle of wine to go with our dinner. 2 of us ordered the ribeye...it had to be perfect, right? NOT, my steak was medium rare alright but it wasn't even warm. It was as if it was a bit chilled so I guess the joke was on me, I was in tears. We started to get a bit hungry so we checked out the Chart House on top for some apps. The dining room with reservations only so we sat in the lounge which ended up being just as nice. The views were amazing. A great way to see the entire city. The food & drinks were also great. We shared the calamari, hummus and beef carpaccio. I liked the calamari the best & it was a huge portion. The Bloody Mary I had was also delish. It's award winning & I can see why. I will say, after reading the reviews I was very skeptical. But after an 8 hour drive and having a reservation for 2 weeks, we decided to give it a shot. The elevator ride up was amazing! Truly a sight to see. Upon entering the restaurant, the hosts were very accommodating and friendly. I will say, if you get motion sick or easily dizzy, I recommend not looking at the moving floor. We had a window seat and the rotation was so cool! It was very subtle. As for the food, we started off with the crab and shrimp fondue. Very cheesy, a little kick, and overall really good! I'd get it again. We both got the filets, both were cooked to perfection and it came with a side of mashed potatoes that were also very good! Our server was good. He was prompt and informed us of the wine specials. He offered us the house bread and the food came out in a timely manner. I will say, the table behind us ran him rampant. So as a reminder for all those reading this, please be kind to your waiter/waitress. They're doing their best and you're probably not their only table. :) We opted out of dessert but I did get 2 martinis that didn't disappoint. I'm from SATX but my boyfriend is not. He's obsessed with the Tower of the Americas and wanted to have his upcoming birthday dinner there. Knowing this is basically a locals rite of passage (I had a couple childhood birthdays here myself back when it was owned by Jim's [RIP]) I was fully onboard with his choice. The plot twist: I'm vegan, he's veggie and the only thing that's available on the menu is a Beyond burger during LUNCH. I called to find out if we could request the Beyond burgers for dinner and the girl I spoke with, who was super nice, said she would ask and put me on hold. She came back and said "No, they will only serve Beyond burgers at lunch". Whyyyy? They're there, in the kitchen. It's a birthday, a special day we wanted to share at this establishment. This shouldn't be that big of a deal. If you can provide a vegan/veggie option at lunch why can't you provide one at dinner?! This is very disappointing and I don't think it's really asking a lot. everybody's food was terrible, overcooked and dry. The restaurant wasn't rotating because of construction. Which of course they don't advertise because they don't want people to cancel. so you get there and you're already stuck. $300 down the drain. We were talking to a waiter the next day about our experience and he said he used to work there. he told us they have failed their health inspections and that their kitchen was disgusting, which made me feel sick. read more

After living in SA for 2 years, I have to say this place is a must to try at least once. Whether it's a special occasion or a "just because" - I think, if you live in SA, you HAVE to experience the Chart House. Is the food incredible? No, but it is good. Service was excellent. We had a very fun waiter. The revolving restaurant did effect my motion sickness for a few seconds, but I had great company to distract me. 110% get the chocolate molten cake dessert. Again, prices are a bit higher, but you can come here for happy hour. We were lucky that we were able to catch the sunset. After dinner we took the elevator to the top floor and admired the view. Went to Chart House for lunch. We enjoyed the atmosphere was great getting to see the 360 degree views of the city. Our server Jalin was super sweet and very attentive to our dining needs. We throughly enjoyed the Coconut Shrimp! I had the Lobster Bisque and the Caesar Salad - both were great! read more
