What a hidden gem! My cousin was in a play recently, and another family member was researching where should we go for a linner - and stumbled upon 179 Main. From a current Westchester resident, my sister, mom and I were hesitant to go , but we were proved wrong that it was a great restaurant. We were a party of 7, and we all felt cared for, the staff was understanding, and attentive from the moment we sat down to leave. Each member in my party had something diffferent: 1. Chicken sandwich 2. Burger 3. Ahi tuna tacos 4. Carbonora (x2) 5. Chicken capricossa 6. Chicken Parm - and even accommodated vodka sauce instead of regular marinara sauce. Wine was nicely poured, cocktails were tasty (although I didn't love my raspberry martini) beer was cold. The restaurant was clean and tidy, and welcoming. Will be coming back ASAP! read more

Both were flavorful and fantastic. I ordered the crispy shrimp tacos, which were delicious and served with fries. The sangria was excellent and perfectly made. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, creating a comfortable dining experience. Best of all, we never felt rushed to pay the bill and leave, which made for a very relaxing meal. Very friendly staff. Tables have tablecloths and parking is free in garage. Menu has something for everyone. I was impressed by organic chicken. I had Chicken Martini, which came with potato croquettes which were slightly cold in the middle and tasty fresh vegetables. My partner enjoyed his burger with delicious homemade fries. The complementary bread was not great. The prices were a little high, but quality is worth it. And the restaurant week three-course menu is an excellent option. We will be back! read more

HUGE Mother's Day Disappointment!!! Our table was right next to the door for the waitstaff to use for outdoor service, so it was constantly being opened and closed. We had a makeshift table to accommodate their over-booking. Without informing diners, they had a pre-fix menu ONLY and it was $75/per person. We walked out and unfortunately had to settle for a chain restaurant that had over an hour long wait. Never even going to give this place a second chance. They have absolutely no consideration for its guests. All they cared about was making extra bucks by taking advantage of its guests on a special holiday. read more

This is my first time going to this restaurant. We went for lunch and cocktails. We sat outside and it was a nice patio space. I love that they had iPads for menus! My friend and I ordered raspberry martini, a cosmopolitan and espresso martinis, which were really good. A lovely place on Main Street in New Rochelle. I met a friend for dinner here and conversation, and was glad I'd made a reservation! With good reason too, as they have a very good blend of food and drink, and staff that's friendly but efficient. I love an Old Fashioned, and they offered a cherry O.F. that was excellent. We started with shrimp dumplings (amazing, esp. the Thai chili sauce!) and crispy calamari (delicately fried and crispy). We shared our entrees: St. Louis fire-braised pork ribs (succulent!) and pan seared branzino (so tender and juicy). We were full, but couldn't resist getting the Bavarian cream churros! Start to finish, our experience here was excellent. They have a wide-ranging menu that could satisfy any taste or craving, and it's all done very well. We will surely return! read more

I was there on Thanksgiving day, ordered the turkey meal and replaced the green beans for mashed potatoes, not only they charged me 7.00 dollars extra but meal portion was not a decent size, for the price I paid. I asked 2 waiters about the extra charge for the potatoes( which by the way was a small scoop), they were quiet and did not have an answer for me. I came here with two young kids for an early weekend dinner. There weren't too many people here. I appreciate the kids menu and coloring page. The menu looks awesome, and there was a great set of specials that evening, too. It's so helpful to have photos too. I loved my 179 salad - so refreshing. It seemed bonkers to pay for the additional protein given the cost, and it wasn't really needed. The fish tacos were solid too. My special chili mango mojito was nice, but I could have used more heat and less sweet. I look forward to coming back! This review is only for the 179 burger and accompanying fries, which are across between steak fries and potato chips. Full disclosure, this was a DoorDash order. I also ordered this for lunch while I was working a busy clinical shift. I got distracted, and when I ate my food, it was cold, and that wasn't the restaurants fault. That being said, I'm writing this review because even though it was neglected sitting on the counter for probably an hour and had already been delivered by DoorDash before that, the burger still had great flavors and the fries would've been wicked great if I had actually gotten them hot. It's a large portion of Kobe beef, the veggies were fresh, and it had a nice toasted brioche bun. It was cooked medium as I requested. It also came with bacon that was the perfect level of chewy (but not undercooked). It was topped off with mayo - bourbon sauce. Just based on how good the burger was even when serves of optimally, I would definitely try this place again and 100% try in person. I was so hungry, I ate everything before I even thought to take a photo. They serve various kinds of tacos, steak, fish, pasta, salads, wings, chicken. Gordon Ramsay would classify this as a restaurant that is trying to serve too many things, therefore raising concerns about the quality or freshness. But just based on the burger, I would give them another try and check out their other offerings. read more

4.5 Stars This place was on my to go list for awhile but I hadn't made it here until Saturday 11/23. We had some time to kill before another appointment and wanted a quick brunch so decided to come here. I didn't know what to expect because of the mixed reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Two of the guests I was with ordered the burgers, one without bacon and the other with. They both enjoyed it tremendously. Both came with fries. I, on the other hand wanted the French toast but also had a taste for pancakes. I decided to get both and split the pancakes with someone. The pancakes were nice and fluffy and taste good and were cooked perfectly. Unfortunately they only have pork for the meat selections so I didn't get any bacon or sausages but I did love the presentation and the food. Also for some reason I had a taste for home fries which I'm normally really picky about but I got it anyway and they were really good! Seasoned well and everything. I also had scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and both of these were additional sides. On the decorative fruit came with the pancakes and a little side bowl of fruit with the French toast. I also had a drink I believe was called the sunrise mimosa which was nice. The food came out quickly but not too quick where it seemed like they just had precooked food waiting to be shipped out, plus it was all fresh. But it also wasn't cooked and then sitting waiting to be picked up for eons. The restaurant itself isn't huge but it's not tight. It's spacious enough where you could move around and not feel like you are sitting on top of the other guests. It also wasn't very crowded when we went. There's an outside sitting space as well. This would make a 5 star place if they had other meat options and if they included some sides with the main orders. The same way they had burgers with fries, I shouldn't have to order all of the sides to make a partial breakfast. Other than that, it was really good and I would go back again. read more

Stopped by 179 Bar & Grill on the way back to the city and had a late lunch/early dinner. It was not a too busy time, a few tables were filled. The service was attentive. However, the food was bland and left nothing to be desired. We ordered several dishes for apps to share, arugula salad, caesar salad, chicken wings and shishito peppers. Both the salads were delicious, arugula has a nice tangy vinaigrette dressing with blueberries, walnuts and pear slices. I was disappointed with shishito peppers, large parts of the peppers were deeply charred and burned, I had to scrap off those pieces. For our mains, we ordered salmon, eggplant parm, chicken francese and chicken martini. The mains were disappointing with the exception of the salmon, when the sauce is on the side, the salmon was cooked to perfection. However, the eggplant parm was very salty and the chicken francese and martini sauces were exactly the same. Both the chicken dishes were drowned in the same thick sauce. Overall, the service was very good, however many of our dishes had the exact same sauce (just different names on the menu) and the flavor were bland. read more

I met friends for brunch here and had a fantastic time. The servers were welcoming from the moment we arrived. We enjoyed the calamari as an appetizer; it was tasty and perfectly fried. I called and last minute booked for a party of 35 for brunch to get family together one more time on Sunday following my mom's funeral. The manager was so compassionate and accommodating. He even allowed us to use the brunch menu even though brunch ends at 11am. Emmanuel and his twin brother were our servers and they were both exceptional. We had a very nice date night at 179 Bar & Grill. The restaurant has a open decor with seating both inside and out with plenty of windows for natural light. The service was outstanding. They have a nice menu of both land and sea entrees and a creative cocktail menu. Food is served quickly. We started with the fried calamari appetizer served with hot cherry peppers and sweet chili lemon aioli. It was nicely seasoned in a light batter. I would say half of the dish was excellent, but there were a few very chewy pieces. The Caesar salad was good, lightly dressed. It is just my bias, but I wish restaurants had the option of adding anchovy fillets to the salad. Our main courses were definitely the star of the meal. The Pork Shank Ossobuco was so tender, it just fell off the bone with the lightest touch of the fork. We also had the Pork Ribs ST. Louis fire braised which had great seasoning and again tender to the bone. To finish off the meal we had coffee and the apple tacos. The food here is very well done. The service is excellent. The scampi had just the right amount of butter, white wine and lemon - really good dish. The rigatoni with the bolognese sauce was beyond savory. Meat tasted like a veal, pork combo that was also very good. Appy were roasted shishito peppers and Brussel sprouts. Both were VERY fresh with char in all the right spots ... cooking crew is doing their thing for sure. Randomly decided to go here for a quick Valentine's Day dinner with my partner. We were expecting most places to be fully packed but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We were seated right away. The place had a calm and overall chill vibe, making it perfect for a romantic dinner. We started off with the calamari and shrimp dumplings which were both super delicious and tasty. I had the steak as my entree and was pleased that they actually cooked it to my preference. The portions were large and we were quite full in the end, unfortunately, didn't have any more room for dessert but they all sounded delicious. We took a drive over the CT border to New Rochelle while it was Hudson Valley restaurant week! We really liked the menu at 179 Bar & Grill for brunch and weren't disappointed. The pancakes were light and fluffy, and being tres leches they caught my eye right away. We have eaten at 179 many times and it has been one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately the so called host Manuel ruined our experience tonight. Even though we had a reservation, he seated us at a table that was not acceptable. There were other tables, but his lame excuse was that they had a the big party coming, and the table for two that we asked for was not available. I did not want to sit next to the door to the outside where staff and guests would be coming and going all night. We have always had great food and service. If we ever decide to go back, hopefully they will have someone who understands what customer service and hospitality is all about. read more

We had a great time at this American Italian restaurant. It deliver expectations. It was my father's birthday they accommodate 8 of us and the staff took care of us in a great way. We were warmly greeted upon arrival with the offer of dining outdoors or inside restaurant. The outdoor patio was set up nicely, but it was a very warm and humid evening, so we opted for indoor. The tables are comfortably spaced between each other with nice natural light coming from the windows and glass entry and exit doors. Convenient indoor garage parking is available next door although we found street parking around the corner. A paper menu with specialties for cocktails, wine, appetizer, main entrée and dessert was on the table when we sat down. There regular menu is available on an iPad broken down into categories with photos. For starters we shared the blistered Shishito peppers and guacamole tuna tower served with tortilla chips on the side. The peppers were not overly charred, enough to give them that pleasurable smoky taste. The tuna was mild and sweet which combined with the velvety guacamole made for a lovely mouth feel and taste. I ordered the pan seared halibut with lobster risotto from the special's menu. The halibut was firm with two pieces in a beurre blanc sauce. A light and elegantly plated dish. The lobster risotto was heavier by comparison so the two paired well together. I couldn't get over how much lobster meat was in the risotto. My daughter ate the pork Osso Bucco with primavera parmesan risotto. The pork was an ample shank so tender and tasty. I had more than a couple of bites as the portion was large. She was given a knife, but it wasn't needed as the pork was so tender and moist a fork was enough to eat it. We were so full that dessert wasn't something we planned on indulging this visit. Although the Crème Brule was calling my daughter's name. A nice, caramelized shell with creamy custard inside. Another dessert was heavier, although we still managed to eat more than half. A molten lava chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. It is structured like a molten lava cake although described as a cookie. We both drank a refreshing Riesling wine with a crisp finish. Nice pour too, not skimpy. They are open 7 days a week as well as offering Brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 12 - 3 pm. They offer more than several Gluten Free options as well as a kid's menu. read more

The squash salad was so delicious, with chunks of butternut squash, cranberries and pecans with shaved Parmesan on top. Yum! The meatballs were also fabulous, in a chunky marinara sauce. For entrées, we order the New York strip and the bone in pork chop. When the dishes were presented, it took my breath away! They were absolutely gorgeous. Remember, you eat with your eyes first! My bone in pork chop was so tender and juicy with cherry peppers in a wonderful tangy sauce. The New York strip was extremely tender and perfectly seasoned as well as cooked. Came here a while back with a coworker. Her choice and it was a good one! We ordered a bunch of tapas and tried a few of the drinks. The fig flatbread and shishito peppers were favorites. The brussels sprouts and burrata were both very good. The espresso martini was fantastic, and so was the margarita. The Moscow Mule was not my thing, but when two delicious shots of tequila came out, it was forgotten. The service was excellent, and the restaurant is beautiful.
