My dog Llyka absolutely adores Chateau Marmutt! Llyka has separation anxiety, so it's been an absolute godsend to have a reliable place where we can drop her off for a few hours when we're in a pinch and can't take her with us somewhere! Although she usually won't let us out of her sight, she DRAGS us inside here because she can't wait to play! It also took us FOREVER to find a place that doesn't cage their pups when they stay for overnights. The room they play in during the day is the same they sleep in at night, so we don't have to worry about her being scared and destroying her teeth trying to escape at night :( We didn't understand this the first time, and it made us anxious to leave her there for the weekend, but they DO take the doggos out on short walks when they stay for overnights (they are not just expected to go inside!!) I've visited places that smell like dog pee before, and this is not one of them. Love that they're open every day, even if you can't drop off on Sundays. (I wish the hours were later at night, especially Saturdays, but I understand why they can't be!) The staff is lovely and really care about the doggos and never make me feel like a crazy person when I explain Llyka's special quirks (and my helicopter parent worries ) There are always loads of other dogs, and I'm so happy Llyka has so many options for who to play with! She's never been afraid to stubbornly tell me if she hates a place, but clearly she has nothing but love for it here! I can sleep at night knowing she's safe, being fed and watered, and cared for! Took my dog in for a grooming. Was $90 which is a bit much for a 13lb dog but whatever she looked decent after even though we had to touch up some shaggy areas. Soon after she was groomed she got ear and eye infections which costed another $600 for FOUR medications she needed plus a couple tests, not to mention her discomfort. We have a sweet high energy 9 month old puppy whom loves this place. Not only is this place fun for my pup as he plays ALL day, but they help to extend any training we do as well. We make him sit and "look at me" everytime we open a door, and or put on a leash, the staff here noticed this and takes it upon itself to carry on with this desired training when they are with my pup. We have not done boarding yet, but when we have a time to getaway, they will be our first call, our friend has been boarding their pup here when needed for years and apparently she loves it and is even boarded without a crate! read more

I took my dog in for a grooming today at Chateau Marmutt. Andrew did an excellent job, followed my wishes to a T and was especially attentive to her ears, which are prone to ear infections. One of her ears has an infection and he was sure to keep that dry with cotton balls and to make sure both ears were dried after the wash. And the cut is very cute and cut close exactly where it should be. I highly recommend Andrew! They also have day care, which I haven't used, but might try it out just for the socialization and exercise! They separate big and small dogs and they all seem very happy and well looked after. Also very nice dog gear and accessories. I love that it is privately owned and operated so keeps the proceeds in the community! read more

Every time I pass this place I think about how I got ripped off. This happened a few years ago but since resentment and irritation jumped out again when I saw the reviews. I took in my two medium sized, sweet tempered short haired mutts for baths. The owner charged me $65 for EACH dog. I hadn't looked on the website for prices. I couldn't imagine a store owner price gouging when there are so many other great groomers in town. But - there you have it. Admittedly, I should have done my homework before I went. I won't go back. I love this place and so does my dog. I was referred by a friend and have been coming ever since. My Dog is well taken care of, socialized and looked after. They're super easy going. My only request - that they allow Sunday daycare without an overnight board. Everyone wants to go out on a Sunday, kind of sucks you can't just do a single day on a weekend. We chose Marmutt to care for our new family member, Gemma. As a 2 Y/o rescue, we didn't know how she would respond to off-leash play. The staff at Marmutt were attentive and effective in managing her behavior on her first day. To boot, they were skilled at communicating what they observed and how they plan to manage any issues. They don't call the dog shop a "boutique" for nothing. When I think of boutique, I think "expensive"...and this place is a castle of expensive dog goodies deserves the name "boutique". Very cute things though...if you have a small pooch, and don't mind spending the money, this place has many dog clothes (about $20 a shirt!), trendy dog carriers that look like real purses that I would wear ($89-$150), and little squeeky dog toys ($4 for a 3" toy to $10 for a 6" toy) for you and your dog. Sensitive noses? Since Chateau Marmutt is also a doggie daycare/boarding place in the back, it also reeks of dog pee. Dog teeth cleaning? They do offer once a month non-anesthetic dog cleaning ($90-$125) which I thought was cool. I can't speak of their dog boarding service, but the front store does have a few useful dog things, if you can afford it. read more

I love this place! We've taken my mini Aussie Doodle here around 8 times for grooming, teeth brushing, etc. and their work is always high quality and consistent. My dog is very shy, but always seems comfortable with the groomer. She clearly loves dogs and cares a lot. She also took the time to talk to me about our preferences and special needs for an upcoming trip. They also have lots of cute stuff and dog products, so shopping there is easy too. Had a Gilt City deal for a wash for a small dog... This shop is adorable and the doggie day care area is awesome. I would definitely consider bringing my little angel for some playtime and day care. I also really appreciate that the shop is secured with a gate just inside the front door... with a location on a busy street, I like the extra insurance that puppies can't bolt out the front door. Staff was friendly and clearly adore their pups. When I picked up my little Yorkie, she was adorable and smelled wonderful... not the strong overly perfumed stuff that other groomers use... just fresh and clean. I have never been to chateau marmutt however, the actions of the owner Michelle, have made me a dedicated life long client. Yesterday, my 16 year old labradoodle was lost. I'm in a new house and the garage door didn't close by a foot.I'm on zoom calls while my dog went Into our backyard and out the gate to San Vicente boulevard without a collar. Michelle found her and spent half an hour trying to get my dog to show her where she lives. It didn't work so Michelle took her and looked up her microchip number and returned her to me. If something had happened to my dog, I don't think my soul could have recovered. Michelle was so generous to take the time out of her busy day to help my dog. She's a hero! read more

The woman who greeted me at pick up had the same indifferent, sort of rude tone, and I never saw my dog so eager to get out of somewhere- he never wants to leave the Healthy Spot! Spend your money where people care about your dog andyou as a client! My dog LOVES the Healthy Spot- and Posh Pets- but I wanted to try out Chateau Marmutt because I started working a block away.... Doggie Daycare!! Thinking of one day having to pay for private school for your children? Well then you need to start training, practicing - and what better way to do it than to start paying for daycare for your dog??? This place is great - they have pickup and drop-off for your lovely canine (heck, give them a key and you don't have to be home for either), 3,500 square feet of cage free play area (and another small play area for the little dogs). Will cost you about $40/day but they have MUCH better rates if you pay weekly! These people LOVE dogs. Michelle the owner is so super cool. Your dog will come home at the end of the day exhausted (you will try to play with them and they'll look at you like "are you effin kidding me?"). This place is great! I sent my dog there for almost 3 years (I miss you Eve!) and she received nothing but love from them. I remember the days I would get there a few minutes early before they opened and my dog would start crying and scratching at the door trying to get inside (she either didn't like me very much or she REALLY liked daycare). Even if you just take your dog here once a week it's great - they get really well socialized and a good solid workout (and when you figure many dog walkers charge $50 for an hour or two walk, $40 at Chateau Marmutt for almost a 12 hour day is a real bargain. 3.5 Stars After eating breakfast and indulging in a Red Velvet Cupcake at Doughboys, I'd often waddle down the street to Chateau Marmutt in a high-calorie haze, to shop for Der Hund and to check out the dogs playing. This is a nice daycare location, (although the pricing is commensurate with the "I'm too hip" vibe of the neighborhood) with a boutique in front, grooming facilities and a play area. I must confess that I was never tempted to dress Der Hund up... until I found some large(r) canine couture that would fit my Weimie. The sweater I purchased for him is functional and fashionable... and keeps him cozy when the weather up here is chilly. I did go through a phase where I wanted to butch up Der Hund, who possesses an extremely sweet temperament, so I was buying a lot of Harley Davidson spiked collars and leads here. Alas... he's more of a sweater vest kind of dog, who'd rather crawl up into my lap and take a snooze. He just can't pull off "tough and menacing". I'll leave that to my cat. The dogs here always play in little packs, and it's nice to see that for the most part, they get along with very few skirmishes . I think it really says more about the owners, who have socialized their dogs; that's why the general mood of this place always feels so "happy". Off to the left of the play area are several smaller rooms, used for grooming and an occasional separation/time out. While there are clearly some pampered pooches in the mix... many of the dogs are mixed/rescues, which is a good thing. If you step up and lean out over the observation window, which is open to the play area below... you might have a friendly dog present you with a tennis ball. Some of the larger hounds will stand up on their hind legs, and let you pet them. The staff interact with the animals constantly, and know them all by name; they do a really good job of keeping the playroom floor clean, although the room smells kind of "doggy". Be careful at the register area, though... the scrumptious looking treats (decorated cookies dipped in carob, cannoli and even cupcakes!!!) are all baked and formulated specifically for the four-legged customers to enjoy. read more

I had a terrible experience at Chateau Marmutt and would discourage anyone with a mutt or shelter dog from visiting this place, as they seem to look down on any dog that isn't purebred and are very careless with them as a result. I took my sweet-natured, healthy rescue puppy Joan here for her first grooming here last fall. When I arrived, I was very clear about the fact that this was my dog's first grooming and that she just needed her fur trimmed; no nail clipping because I had just clipped her nails the night before. About 15 minutes later, I got a call from the manager saying my dog had bitten the groomer and I needed to pick her up immediately. I rushed over and asked what had happened. I was particularly shocked because Joan has never barked at anyone, much less bitten them. (She's a sweet terrier mix who will lick you raw if you let her.) The owner then rudely informed me that my dog had freaked out when the groomer was clipping her nails. I told her that I 'd asked SPECIFICALLY that her nails not be trimmed since I'd just trimmed them, and any deeper cuts would've surely hit a nerve and caused my dog extreme pain. Her response was not to apologize for explicitly ignoring my request or hurting my dog, but rather to ask me, "Is she a shelter dog? Sometimes they have issues." I couldn't believe my ears. Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and I will certainly never be coming back here ever again. read more

Just took our Mini Poodle to Chateau Marmutt for her first haircut. We were very impressed with the groomer. The whole staff was very helpful and all the doggies were adorable. I was in the middle of a move with my newly rescued dog and needed a place to keep him occupied. I was moving from downtown to the west side and this place was smacked in the middle so was perfect to leave him. I purchased the groupon now deal and was set to go. It was pretty easy to drop him off with my records. The daycare facilities seemed ok, but they didn't really give me much info on how often they would take him out for walks and when I asked if they give a report card, or have a webcam, they said I would just have to call in to ask. I was nervous because he was newly rescued and this was one of his first times in doggy daycare. And when I did call in, no one was there to answer. After the 4th time of reaching them, they finally called me back because they had caller ID. They seemed reasonable and my dog was fine, but they definitely didn't seem in tune with my dog. I know this sounds weird, but any dog mom knows what I mean. I have taken my dog to another daycare, Southpark LA, and I can def. tell the difference. read more

I'm still coming to grips with the fact that I have plunged full tilt into complete yuppie-dom by taking my dog to a dog daycare. I almost don't want to write this review and admit that I do this but here it is. No more denial. I take my dog to dog daycare and it's oh so useful that I can't help it. The main pros: 1) It's on the way to work. This is very very key. It makes it extremely convenient. 2) Easy to "get in". All you need is to show up with proof of vaccination records and you're good to go. It was quick and simple and after that you're in the system and you can drop off your dog in minutes and get on your way. There are also no weight restrictions or breed discrimination (yeah I have a pit bull and she's nicer than your dog I bet) which I have had a problem with at other places in the area. 3) The dogs all seem to enjoy themselves. There are a lot of toys and other dogs to play with and my dog comes home pretty tired which is exactly the point. The staff are also always cheery and they care about the dogs. I've actually had to pry her away from all the cuddles. The eh: 1) Ugh it's not exactly cheap. $35 for the day which is comparable to other places in the LA area but still. As much as it would be great to come here often, I'm trying to limit my days to when I'm working late or going out that night. 2) No option to board if you have plans past 7PM. If they had this, it would be perfect! Overall, this is my place to go when I don't want to worry about my dog sitting at home alone in her crate all day. Parking is always readily available on the street and although it's metered, the quick drop off/pick up system means you'll never need more than a quarters worth of time (15 min). read more

After a recommendation from my boss, I took my big pup Rocket here to get groomed. Chateau Marmutt is just about 3 blocks down from my office, so it was super convenient for me. Next time I'll definitely just walk him over and back. I called early this morning around 7:30AM and was told I could drop him off at 10AM before work. Amazing. I have an approx. 110lb Samoyed (he's a big boy) with lots of white (well...at this point, it was more like grey) fur. Dropped him off with what appeared to be very caring hands. They followed up with a call halfway though to make sure they could shave his belly area, as it had been done before, to keep him clean. Rocket likes to lay around on the dirt often and he usually stains his belly area, so this is the best option for him. When he was ready, they gave me a call (took approx 2.5 hours) and I was greeted by a fluffy, white, delicious-smelling Rocket! It's like he was a band new dog. I love how he looks and smells and he seemed to like the groomer and the staff, so I know he was treated well. I'll definitely be coming back here again! PS The gentleman who groomed Rocket even helped me lift Rocket back into my car (he has a bad leg and is overweight, so it's sometimes a challenge to get him into my SUV). My pups and I love this place. I have two pups, one that is a little feisty and so she has to stay home BUT my other girl is a big lug with some anxiety/abandonment issues. Rain, hot weather, the gardeners coming, anything sets her off. She's eaten her way through window frames, doors, couches, etc. I've hired a runner, multiple trainers, and dog walker. My work days not long so it's not a time issue. B ased on the pet cam, it's not a boredom issue. She was severally abused and so she is scared of a lot of things and people. They have to build relationships with her. It took a lot for me to give in and think about day care. I feel fortunate that i found this place. I'm relieved bc honestly, it was hard to find a place she doesn't freak out at. When she walks through the door, you wpuld think that I was taking her toDisneyland. She cant wait to see Natalie, her fav, and honestly im not sure who likes who more!! Natlie has a way with her. Its like she knew right off the bat. Natalie is awesome with not just my pup but all the dogs from what I've seen. BTW, I've never had a problem with them walking my dog on her regular schedule. She needs to stick to schedule otherwise it's all down hill, but they understood. Ms Pattie Smith (my lug head pup) has issues and they get it. For me, they work. I feel secure with her there. :) I've never asked if they do anything other than day care so I can't comment on anything else. read more

The prices are a bit hmmmm no, it's expensive I couldn't afford it at the time lol IF you can though they have some really cute clothes and collars for you pup. Chateau Marmutt is THE BEST DOGGIE DAYCARE! I have been taking my bulldog here for about 2 years now. The best thing about this place is that it is only $6 an hour for the first 4 hours and then it goes up to the daily rate of $35 I believe for the day. So I love it because I can go run errands and drop my guy off for 2 or 3 hours and it doesn't cost that much at all....which is hard to find in LA because most other places charge a full day rate even if they arnt there for that long. The owner Michelle is there most of the time which makes it nice because it really is a boutique type of place and you can tell in the service that they all REALLY CARE. All of the people who work there are sweethearts and they take good care of my pup and give him lots of love. They just moved down the street to the Beverly location and this location is much better because it almost always has at least one meter available right in front, if not many. I never have to circle the block to find parking anymore. And the inside is really great too, it's funny because it looks almost exactly the same as the old place, which I like, but it is a little bigger. read more

DO NOT PATRONIZE! Abusive groomer! My wife and we're just there to drop our dog off for grooming and witnessed a groomer slamming on the daycare fence scowling at the dogs, screaming "NO" at them. This was not a disciplinary command, it was clearly about domination, I wouldn't have been surprised if she hit one of the dogs. When I confronted her about it she claimed the dogs dogs jumped up and tried to bite her. They're dogs, behind a fence, in daycare, they get excited whenever a human walks by and they couldn't have bitten her because they were behind a fence. They weren't being aggressive to any of the other employees, one of whom was in the fenced in area. We walked out. I'm convinced I saved my dog from an abusive experience. read more

This place is fabulous! The staff is so nice and the rooms are great. My little Emma loved her day yesterday at day care and when I got her home after, I didn't have to walk her or anything. She was pooped out. She slept all night long without barely moving. She must have played, a lot, because usually she's jonesing for her nightime walk. I got a KGB deal for this place where I got three days of day care for a discounted price. If I could afford it, I'd take her here a couple days a week, but alas, $35 a day is expensive and it adds up, fast. Before you know it, you are spending $280/month on day care (if you go 2 x a week). But if you have the wiggle room in your budget, 100% do it. Your dog will love you and you'll love the peace and quiet you get after their long and playful day. It's great for socializing dogs too. The only reason I take off one star is because they don't have a web-cam. If they got one, they'd be perfect. Love you Chateau! read more

Our dog loves Chateau Marmutt! Today when I went to pick him up he didn't want to come home, which was a first for any daycare that he has been to. It makes us so happy that he has a safe and happy place to play and socialize. All of the dogs that go here are super friendly and you can tell that everyone who works here really loves dogs, are knowledgeable, kind, and gentle. The facility is clean and our pup does not come home a stinky mess! There is a lot of room for the dogs to run and play and there is always someone supervising them. I love that you don't have to call ahead for drop offs as this has been a big issue with other places. I started a Yelp account just to write this review because I am so thankful for the care and attention they give our dog. We have had a hard time finding the right place for him since he is a hyper, special needs dog and this is definitely the best daycare we have ever taken him to. This is the first place I can honestly say I have left our sweet boy and not worried about if he is happy and safe and loved. Den is the best! read more

I've been taking Pancake and Godiva to Chateau Marmutt for years. I can't speak about their daycare, but they always have talented groomers who keep a record of my preferred cuts, styles and notes for my babies haircuts. They offer teeth brushing (extra charge), anal gland expression, and nail work in the price of the grooming and bathing service and my Yorkie and Maltipoo always come out looking like celebrities. I love this place! And my dog goes crazy when we are driving near by, like he's ready to jump out the window and dodge many SUV's and buses just to get to his friends! Michelle, the owner is wonderful and so all her employees. It is a little pricey, but it's worth it because I know that my dog (a little guy) isn't mixed in with the bigger dogs (although sometimes he does like to play with the big dogs, I know that they only let him do that when there are only very gentle big dogs). This day care is open later than most, which is great since I don't get off work until at least 6pm... and I usually have them drop him off at home (totally worth the extra $8!), so I can go to yoga after work and not worry about the time. They also offer pick up service, which I've used a few times. Everyone who works there knows all the doggies by name and can tell you which one is YOUR doggies best friend. (my doggie always plays with same guy, they wrestle all day long!). The parking may seem like a problem, but I just pull in front, turn on my flashers, and drop him off. I've never had a problem doing that, it only takes a moment, and I've watched many other Marmutters do the same thing, as far as I know, no one has ever gotten a ticket. read more
