I had been bringing my dog here for 12 years. She never had any problems here. Although the quality of the work had gone down since Ms Sharon left, I continued because they did good enough work and my dog knew this place. However, last Thursday I brought my toy Maltese in for grooming and she came back with a horrible cough that lasted a long time and got so bad she died. My dog was old, but she was NOT sick. Also she cried so hard after grooming. I suspect they are abusive and improperly handle animals there. I believe this place had something to do with my dogs demiise. My bestie took her dog to be groomed yesterday and now her dog is sick. I'm waiting to see if her dog gets worse. (Praying she gets better) Don't go here! So I bring in my dog and the guy who checks me in says he bought the business about three months ago. He mentions "summer cut" and I actually thought it was a joke (because you know it's late November!). I pick up our dog to find him with really short hair; not bad for July temps. He's the only male groomer I've ever seen there. I told the owner I didn't want him working on my maltipoo again. He's rough and does a TERRIBLE JOB. When I came to get my dog, the male groomer was SHAVING her just before the place closed. When I asked him what he was going on the owner told me HE FORGOT that I didn't want the guy. Such a liar... he couldn't even look me in the eyes. . He never apologized for any of it. He ordered me to wait outside until they finished. Yeah, right. I stayed put and didn't take my eyes off my dog until I had her in my arms. What's worse is when I first came in and asked for my dog, THEY GAVE ME SOMEONE ELSE'S. I told him "this isn't my dog." If I could give it a zero I would. Avoid this place if your dogs have any special need, they have no idea what they're doing. I have 3 dogs, one of them is extremely anxious due to past traumas, the other one is a tripod and the third one is 16 years old. I acknowledge that my dogs need some kind of special attention, which is why I always make it clear when I schedule the appointments. First thing that went wrong - The man at the front desk had no record of my appointment, therefore they had none of the comments I had made when scheduling. I still made sure he knew about it. Second issue - They clearly had no idea how to manage an anxious dog. They automatically tried to force her into the crate aggressively pulling her into it. I had to step into the grooming stations to show them how to do it. Not a great start. Lastly - After 3.5 hours I came to pick them up and they let my tripod out first, a woman quickly came out saying she still had to cut her nails, so she started cutting them in the lobby with me present. This is the worst part... SHE MADE HER BLEED...TWICE!!! From the one paw she needs the most. I will never come back or recommend this place to anyone. read more

We have been taking my 2 small Maltese-Pomeranian doggies to Pet Joy for over 2 years now & we absolutely love them. From the first time we took them here we knew that we had found a new groomer. The first time we picked them up after their wash & cut we realized they were not anxious and stressed out like they "usually" were when we took them to other groomers. For us this was very eye opening because we thought that was just regular behavior. The staff here is so kind and gentle with out dogs, we feel safe with them & trust that they are taking care of our little girls. In the last 2+ + years of taking them to Pet Joy our little old ladies health has changed. One has a heart issue & the other has cancer, but the reason I mention this is because in sharing this with Pet Joy they were able to make recommendations and accommodations to ensure that our 2 dogs were safe. To me what I mentioned above is the most important factor in a dog groomer. However I would also like to add that their work is very good as well. Given that they are part Pomeranian their hair can be a challenge for some groomers to cut, but that is NOT an issue here. They take notes of what style of cuts you have done previously & write down exact measurements so you can ask for your favorite cut again and again! I've been good taking my dogs to this groomer for 3 years now and I will say that sometimes their cuts are a hit or miss. I chose them because they specialize in Japanese hair cutting and I really like those type of haircuts on my dogs. Unfortunately you never really know what type of cut you're going to get because they rotate groomers. I've now realized on certain days, u know what the outcome of the haircut is going to be. Never met the groomers personally, but I can tell by their quality of work what days to avoid. Never had a problem with them causing injury to my dogs, but one time after I picked them up, they came down with a really bad case of diarrhea that night. It painstakingly took a week to clear up. My dogs are indoor dogs and don't go out for walks, so they couldn't have gotten into something outside. I have a feeling it was bacteria that may have ingested from unsanitary surfaces, but I can't be too sure so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. So if you are looking for a groomer who will bathe and blow dry your dog really well, then definitely come here. But if you want someone who is consistent with certain breed-specific hair styles, this is not the place for your dog. They do have plenty open spots for last minute grooming, so if it's more about convenience than specification, then check them out. read more

I came to the place a bit early so I was looking at the cameras meanwhile one of my family members pay. So I saw one of the lady's yank my dog ear so aggressively. I was so worried and shocked. I started to cry so badly. I felt guilty for taking him here yet one of the owners kept saying, "he just moves a lot". I have taken my dog to this groomer for years and had good experiences until today. When we arrived, they were clearly too busy and very annoyed, despite us having an appointment. One of their groomers cut my dog's tongue and she was bleeding for 20 mins before they even called us to pick her up. It seems they only called us because she hadn't stopped bleeding. And when they called they didn't even tell me on the phone what had happened or that it was an emergency. It seems they were too busy and being careless. I have been coming here with Miss Sharon for years. On 10/21, I brought my five-pound Maltipoo in for a bath with a sanitary cut only. I am so angry with myself. I should have checked my dog thoroughly. The groomer placed a bandana around her neck, with the long part covering her neck to her when breast. On 10/25, I removed the bandana only to find matted hair and pus coming from her neck. I took her to the vet. She has a hole in her neck. The vet explained it was from a cut or bite. My dog stays inside. She is 16 and not around other animals. She had been doing a lot of crying, and I did not understand. When. I saw her neck, and I cried. I am sure the groomer cut her. Based on their reaction when I picked her up, I should have known something was wrong. They were, I am sure, hoping I did not see under the bandana. It was funny, but when I went in that morning, I told myself I would find another groomer. I had a weird feeling. Accidents happen, but to cut a dog and not let me know--cruelty at its best.
