Chaupain is a French bakery that reminds me a little of Moulin but unfortunately it's more about how Chaupain doesn't quite measure up. I can't speak to the quality of the food as I only had coffee and the parfait. My quibbles are regarding aesthetics and logistics. The men's urinal was filthy, in a Chinese restaurant way. It's surprising to find a stained and dirty bathroom in a French bakery deep in south OC. If you dine in, coffee is brought to your table which is normal. However, there are no sugar and cream at the table. When I asked the server, I was directed to go inside (I was sitting in the patio). I went inside only to find the cream only available in a dispenser. So I had to go back to the table to retrieve the coffee. It's so awkward. Either the server should offer to bring them the cream and sugar to the table or provide individual creams. Being my first visit, I may have missed the boat or miscommunicated with the server but he directed others to get go inside for cream and sugar as well. It's unfortunate for such fixable things to cloud a dining experience.

Today I felt like it was strawberry season in the bakery.. I almost lost my mind. It looks so good. I usually get their French onion soup, or soup of the day, which is always fantastic and fresh However, I decided to have their burger. They're Gouda bacon delicious burger on a brioche bread. With a side salad that was so fresh. One of the best burgers I have ever had honestly... I got there 10 minutes early just so that I could get a nice table inside the patio is nice as well.

Still one of my favorite breakfast spots! Their avocado toast is way too good! The pesto pistachio aioli makes it.

Staff: The team here was so nice. From the lady who took my order of to go pastries to the guy at check out. Wish they had on name tags. Quality: This place is so nice. I didn't even know they have a sit down restaurant inside. There are so many good options here that you're guaranteed to find something you like. Value: Pricing was a little high here. $26 for 4 pastries was what I paid. Granted it was delicious, but a little pricey in my opinion. Overall: This is a nice addition to the shopping center. I'll be back for sure.

I am a big fan of Chaupain, so is my family. Every time I see my sisters, they always say: "Have you been to the new Chaupain location? They have the best pastries!" I drive by it all the times but "trying hard" to not stop and go inside the store. I have the biggest sweet tooth so I know I can't resist if I see them. I was in the area today so decided to check them out. It is a huge bakery/restaurant. It's beautiful and nicely decorated. It also has outdoor seating, as well as covered patio and indoor dining areas. They have so many good-looking pastries so I couldn't decide. Ended up getting a few pastries. My favorite was the carrot cake! It was so good. Not cheap, but so worth it. It was soft and moist, and the cream cheese frosting was perfectly mixed. I have had the other ones (blueberry danish, pistachio croissant, butter croissant, etc. at their other location all the times but not the carrot cake. Will try others next time I'm there. Service was great. Thank you to the associate that helped me. He had a lot of patience waiting on me as I couldn't decide which ones to get. They all looked so good. Yum!

This place has the BEST pistachio croissant! The crunch, the flavor....I seriously ate this in peace. I sat on my own and enjoyed every bite of it. This is also one place that has shakshouka. Truly enjoyed the comfort feel of this. Because every pastry is delightful, it gets really busy here. And the tables are usually full for brunch. Definitely worth the line and wait.

Chaupain Bakery has the best French pastries! Their croissants are the best I've had. I'm really glad the Laguna Niguel location has plenty of seating both inside and outside. The staff here is always so friendly and the decor is very cute. I feel like I'm dining in a Parisian cafe when I eat here!

Love that they opened a location closer to home. The store is a lot bigger than the store in Laguna Hills. The pastries are so tasty here. My go to is usually the almond croissant and chocolate ganache croissant. The layers on the outside is flaky while it ad a nice chew for the layers inside the croissant. The staff is super friendly and efficient while I decide on which pastry I want to eat. So much to choose from which is why the line can be a bit long.

Plenty of parking spaces. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. They have a great brunch and bakery items. I got the Jalapeno Cheese Croissant and it was really good! I asked them to heat it, and once heated, the cheese inside was really soft. It wasn't spicy even with the jalapenos. One of my favorite Jalapeno Cheese Croissants I've tried. Recommendation(s): - Jalapeno Cheese Croissant Service: 5/5 Tip(s): - Plenty of parking spaces - Accept Apple Pay - Restroom available - Brunch food items available

Already a fan of Chaupain Bakery, I was excited to check out this new location -- which I've determined is my favorite! I like that this location is more spacious, offering some seating inside and outside on their patio; this location also offers a long glass case displaying their attractive selection of pastries and desserts; opposite the case, the breads and other goodies are available for purchase. What confused me (confirmed by me -- a rule-follower -- not following the procedure correctly) was that one places their pastry/dessert order at the counter to the left of the glass case (closest to the entrance), allowing the staff to gather one's selections, to be paid at the other end. While I understand how that flow makes sense behind the counter, my thoughts are, with people in line, it's difficult to see the selection ahead in order to know what I'd want. For dine in, I ordered: Chaupain Omelette ($16) - delicious and healthy-feeling option, visibly chock-full of spinach (and its other ingredients); served with tender potatoes and a small ramekin of mixed fresh fruits. For take-out: Pain au Chocolat ($5.95) - hubby was a fan of its delicate flaky pastry filled with deliciously rich, quality dark chocolate, and a buttery base (I wouldn't know, as I wasn't even given an opportunity to taste); Kouign Amann ($5.70) - this is usually my go-to pastry in determining how much I like a bakery; this one was tasty, with the satisfying buttery, candied sugar exterior that I/we seek; Tiramisu ($8.50) - our thoughts, some taste too strong on rum or coffee flavors; this variation uses Kahlua. Delightfully light-&-luscious, nice marriage of flavors, and a satisfying portion (for 2), too! We were surprised at how many dogs (visibly not service animals) we witnessed entering the restaurant. The staff's positive energy and attitude was impressive -- and contagious -- quite a reflection on management; we were fortunate to be assisted by Connie at the counter, as well as have the absolute pleasure of meeting the energetic-&-positive, personable, and passionate manager, Brandon!! We'll most definitely be back, as I'm eager to experience more off their menu!

Shout out to Sofia for helping me today. Some find shelter from the rain inside, others dance in the rain, for me I take Solace in going to a bakery or in todays case: Chaupain was my spot. I ordered a small vanilla latte with hazel nut, and a pistachio croissant and just took in the energy of the place. Vibrant, bustling with patrons, conversations a buzz, music playing, and me taking it all in embracing it. Today is also Lunar New Year so its extra special. Not only did my hostess bring an adorable latte with a cute heart design, after drinking it, it was perfect! I love it here. The croissants crispy and delightful. There is a special for this week: due to the rain. I posted it on my photos. 10/10

Chaupain Bakery is one of the best bakeries in town! A wide selection of croissants, danishes, and other golden temptations are made fresh daily and vanish from the display case almost as quickly as they appear. They also offer a breakfast & lunch menu so tempting you might forget you came in for "one pastry only." THE FOOD. - Sunrise Croissant. Added ham for extra $. Scrambled eggs and savory slices of ham are tucked inside a buttery, flakey croissant. Sharp cheddar cheese adds a satisfying tang, while the pistachio pesto aioli lends a nutty, garlicky richness, giving each bite an herby lift. - Sam's Breakfast Sandwich. Tender roasted top sirloin, caramelized onions, sweet bell peppers, Gouda cheese, and scrambled eggs come together to create a hearty, flavorful sandwich. A touch of harissa brings a gentle, smokey heat. - Pain au Chocolat. Delicate layers of laminated dough wrapped around slim batons of dark chocolate. Buttery and crisp, with just enough cocoa for added sweetness. - Pistachio Croissant. The marzipan filling is creamy & sweet with an earthy pistachio flavor that pairs well with the flakey croissant. Highly recommend. - Jalapeño & Cheese Croissant. A spicy, cheesy croissant that's both delicious as well as reminder that buttery, flakey pastries can have attitude. - Apricot Danish. Bright, tangy fruit set in a bed of custard and framed by crisp pastry layers. - Almond Croissant. Rich almond paste inside a flakey croissant with a snowy dusting of powdered sugar. - Chocolate Elfroy. Creamy custard and rich chocolate come together in this irresistible pastry, lightly dusted with powdered sugar for a classic finish. Highly recommend. THE VERDICT. For a casual morning splurge or a quick sugar fix, this place remains a worthwhile stop. Bring your appetite!

Chaupain Bakery is a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. I have been visiting here since it opened but never reviewed it , until now. Today I stopped by while it was raining. They have a special for this week: small fresh brewed coffee and croissant ( butter, or chocolate) or danish for $7, who could resist. I have had other breakfast dishes and they did not disappoint. Whether it's sharshuka Or an omelette, or even a sandwich it's always 5/5.

From the start, you're welcomed with the fresh scent of baked bread, fresh pastries, and coffee. I ordered the Ronnie on rye and my husband ordered the eggs Benedict. It was such a delicious twist on a breakfast item to have a hot pastrami sandwich with egg, cheese, hash brown, and extra Dijon. Being pregnant, this was perfect. I tried my husband's eggs Benedict and it was delicious, as well. The bun was so soft and fluffy and created a great base for the dish. Finally, the coffees were nicely balanced and my half sweet vanilla latte had just the right amount of flavor. This cafe is bustling for good reason! Almost every table was full and there were plenty of people inside ready for to-go orders. But, it didn't feel overwhelming and remained welcoming. Their son in particular is phenomenal and always made every interaction pleasant. The baked goods are fresh, delicious, and clearly made with care. While there was one interaction in the past that felt a little more business-focused than hospitality-focused regarding a mall discount, it was far from enough to take away from the overall experience this bakery consistently provides. Manager ( not the owners ) was upset I wasn't able to offer a mall discount when they were able too. Came to the point she would verbally say we wouldn't ( myself and crew members) wouldn't be receiving it. Personally not a big deal. Most I'd spend was 5-7$ and discount was less than a dollar. We visited on a Saturday morning around 9:30am, and while the place was very busy and lively, it's easy to see why it's so popular. Drinks: The honey lavender latte was excellent -- smooth, lightly floral, and not overly sweet. The Nutella cortado is also a standout and a great choice if you like something rich but balanced. Food: The chicken and mushroom crepe had great flavor and was very satisfying. The Romeo and Juliette crepe was absolutely delicious and easily one of the highlights of the visit. Pastries: The almond croissant and peach danish were my favorites -- flaky, fresh, and exactly what you hope for at a bakery like this. Because it was a peak Saturday morning, there was about a 15-minute wait to find a table, and ordering took another 20 minutes. My food came out fairly quickly, but my husband's order was unfortunately missed and didn't arrive until about 40 minutes later. That said, the woman running the place was an absolute sweetheart -- incredibly kind, apologetic, and genuinely attentive. She even offered us a free dessert to make up for the delay, which we really appreciated. The rest of the staff was also friendly and helpful despite how crowded it was. The space does get noisy when it's full, so it's not the most relaxing dine-in experience during peak hours. My advice: order online and take it to go -- this would be perfect for a picnic or a relaxed breakfast elsewhere. The food and drinks are absolutely worth it, and with a little planning, you'll have a great experience.
