    Happy hour cocktails
    Derek M.

Had a great experience, feel like their ranking should be higher. We were lucky to come early and be fit from the happy hour prices on some drinks and apps!! Our server and the other staff were excellent. Nice atmosphere. We sat outside, it was a beautiful evening so this was great! Inside seemed a bit chilly so, I would bring something light to cover up if you get cold easily. Bathrooms were very clean. All the meals were great, we would not hesitate to come back. The food looks and tastes great! The cocktail magicians behind the bar did an excellent job! -If you go during happy hour, I would suggest getting one of their regular menu cocktails. The Nuevo yol was impressive and the other look so also!

Chayote is a stunning display of cuisine and ambiance! I had only heard good things about this restaurant prior to sitting down and they did not disappoint. The menu was wonderfully innovative, the service was personable, and the energy in the restaurant had this elevated coziness to it. We started of with classic martinis paired with a foie gras mousse & guava filled donut (that sentence alone should have you making a reservation already). Pork chops and ropa veija lasagna stunned as main course options. Pistachio tres leches tied the evening together like a newly-curled ribbon. If you're looking for a restaurant with a modern interpretation of Latin classics, you've found it!

Wow! 10/10!! Everything was just absolutely amazing! The ambiance was warm, elegant, and classy. An upscale dining experience with excellent service - the wait staff was inviting, knowledgeable about the menus, provided great recommendations and were attentive. Now on to the food!! I came with a group of girlfriends and we picked off of each others plates and everything was cooked to perfection an absolutely delicious. I had the trucha meuniere - almond crusted rainbow trout with caper brown butter and apio root. I had a side of steamed veggies and also tried the Mac and cheese. I'm really funny about my Mac and cheese but this was pretty damn good!!! Also tried the remolacha salad with smoked beets, warm brussels, queso, pine nut and scallions. YUM! Oh and the croquetas with coconut shrimp, guava and avocado. Nothing missed the mark! Oh and I had some guava alcoholic drink that was bomb too!! You can't miss here!!

Portions were filling Empanadas were good but nothing to rave about Lasagna was the surprise it was delicious Lamb melted in your mouth Short rib sauce wasn't to my palate but it melted in your mouth Fish special was great Octopus was good but wish there was more Drinks were all good. Tres leches was enough for us all to share one dessert Presentation was great.

For my 3100th review, I'm going w/ Chayote. I picked this for my birthday dinner. I changed my mind like a dozen times and I'm happy I went with this one. It's located in Winter Park Village which has boutiques, other restaurants, Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream and Cheesecake Factory. It also has its own Champagne bar next door. There is inside and outside seating and the decor is aesthetically pleasing. We had the perfect spot to sit in our own little private cubby hole half moon booth in the back. I loved it. They had Orlando Magical Dining that we considered. It was 60 per person but we weren't to fond of the first course options. So we decided upon our entrees on our own which was a perfect size. We had the guava glazed short rib and the lobster tail mofongo. These flavors were perfect and savory with a touch of sweet. This was food I seriously couldn't have just anywhere so it definitely stood out and was terrific. We honestly didn't love our service w/ our server. It was just okay. I asked for recommendations to which he only directed to the most expensive ones with no explanation. He digressed from other ones that I thought sounded good. With that, it was fine that he was pretty absent, & we could have minimal interaction. The hostess stand girls were very nice and also took our pics outside. I enjoyed my dinner and the atmosphere nonetheless, and did love this restaurant and food!! If you are looking for something special for your birthday, this one has great food. They give you a postcard on your table to say thank you for spending your special day here. They want you to order a dessert and they put a candle on it. The desserts sounded good, but we opted to get dessert at Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream across the sidewalk. Cheesecake Factory is also across the side walk other direction and so Cheesecake is an option too.

Chayote - FABULOUS (after swearing off this place following a crazy rude initial encounter during my birthday week). One of my close friends wanted to go and we adored Mario's tapas restaurant in Puerto Rico years ago. It was our favorite of our entire week there. It's a gorgeous and swanky atmosphere, perfect for date night and special occasions. The happy hour is a stellar deal for an app trio and wildly creative drinks. Don't opt for the drink with a 'c' unless you are really adventurous. The service at the bar was excellent. At the table, we each had an entree. The birthday boy had two - the portions are not that big but the flavor is excellent. Our faves were the lobster, ravioli and short rib. The sea bass was delicious but almost a fluffy consistency so it was like you were eating air. Really strange. The truffle mashed potatoes though were heaven. The chocolate cake was perfect with their (very sweet) expresso martini as it wasn't too sweet. Tres leches was a hit too! Service at the table was perfect too! The only feedback was the food temperature. I expect my food to come out piping hot and it was only slightly warm for all items we ordered. (For the record, the host was still not friendly at all. No greeting, just a gruff "do you have a reservation?". I felt like I had to ask permission to attend happy hour as we were not allowed to enter the restaurant at all last time without a reservation and it was EMPTY on that occasion).

I came here after work with my friends. The restaurant is very beautiful. They have a small lounge area in the front if you're waiting for your friends. The staff here were attentive and explained the menu in great depth. We loved our cocktails they were all delicious! The Choripan was soo good! The little burgers were juicy and flavorful. The Croquettas were yummy and lightly fried. I loved the Tartare it tasted very fresh. I think all their dishes were very well balanced here. I would love to come back here again. If you haven't tried this place yet you definitely should!

Food, Service and Ambiance are top notch! The occasion: Birthday Month Finale: Dinner & Gratitude Toast Chayote will provide an evening filled with flavor and refined elegance in Winter Park, FL. the experience was nothing short of amazing. Our table shared the Aperitivo Bites Sampler, featuring: Bolitas -- cheese balls with papaya + coriander Croquetas -- coconut shrimp with guava + avocado Cordero Rolls -- lamb confit spring rolls with goat cheese, tamarind + sesame Entrées included the Chuleton with Tamarind Truffle Glaze Roasted Garlic Maduro Mash, with Arugula!! and Arroz con Pollo Pegaito -- each dish bursting with authentic Latin flavor and beautifully presented. Best of all, the team graciously honored my refined sugar-free preferences, making the entire meal QSN Approved®. #QSNApproved #ZeroRefinedSugarLifestyle #RefinedSugarFreeDining #BirthdayMonthFinale #ChayoteWinterPark

Chayote is a wonderful addition to Winter Park with its modern yet elegant decor! This restaurant is definitely pricey, but that's to be expected in this upscale area. Expect small yet flavor-filled portions (for mucho dinero $$$) that will knock your socks off. I've been here a few times and want to give a super shout out to my fav bartender, Lyndsay! She crafts drinks like an artist, runs the bar like a boss, and still finds the time to converse and make me smile :) My most recent trip here was for Aperitivo Hour (happy hour) which is Wednesday-Sunday from 4-7pm. The Paloma Rosa is my favorite. Who can deny a hibiscus infused tequila drink at nearly half the price?! Also the pork short rib in the Costilla Nachos was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Other honorable mentions from my previous trips here (not pictured) are the Pulpo (octopus), the Lubina (Chilean sea bass), and the Cordero (lamb). The quality, service, and vibe of Chayote definitely justify the high prices. I'll be back for happy hour or special occasions.

This place has amazing food!!! Definitely worth the $$$ Their happy hour is also really good! The bolitas and tacos I ordered were sooooo amazing and flavorful. I kid you not, you won't even have time to talk when you go to eat here because you'll want to keep eating!!

Beautiful interior design, dark ambiance great for date night! Food was beautiful and delicious, a bit on the pricier side but this is a great spot for a romantic evening or celebration.

I did not expect this elevated dining experience in the Winter Park Village sea of chain restaurants. Chayote is located in the old Salad space but you'd never know. The interior is stunning. A large interior dining area, central bar and even a small outdoor patio. We went early on a Saturday night and it was very quiet but got lively and louder by 6:30. The vibe is hip and stylish, and this is a perfect spot for a celebration meal. We opted for cocktails and small plates and it was perfect. I highly recommend the BEE-SOS cocktail and the delicate croquettes. We didn't have a single bite that wasn't delicious. The pricing is a little high in comparison with the portions and they still have octopus on the menu (a personal turnoff). But those are the only things keeping them from a five star experience.

This is a well designed space in a busy area. Great patio to enjoy happy hour food and drink specials from. After 3 happy hours here, we committed to a formal dinner and came away impressed with the kitchen's skill. Items are unique and beautifully presented. Service is attentive and actually helpful. One critique: there is a heavy reliance on the fryer. We knew from the HH visits that most small bites were fried (bolitas, croquetas, empanadas, spring rolls), and at the dinner this seemed true for the larger dishes too (pulpo and trout). The results are delicious (like at a county fair, everything tastes better fried), but you may order conservatively as a result - harder to save room for dessert. "Wine Wednesday" program here is excellent, with some great bottles under $30 (basically sold at the cost you'll find in store, no 2x or 3x markup).

The ambiance and the warmth of the staff took me back to the Caribbean--it definitely felt like home. Their menu features a Latin-Asian fusion, and I loved every second of it. We started with the Krab Salad. It was incredibly fresh, topped with avocado, and the perfect way to open my appetite for a sushi night. Next were the Pork Fried Gyoza, served with a sticky, glossy sauce that has just the right amount of kick. They were so good, you won't be able to put your chopsticks down. The Escobar Roll combines shrimp tempura and churrasco--the best of both worlds. It's topped with sweet plantains, chimichurri sauce, eel sauce, and spicy mayo. I had my doubts about all those flavors working together, but I have no idea how they perfected that combination--they absolutely did. The Mar y Tierra Roll was recommended by our waiter, and I highly recommend ordering it in tempura. It gives the roll a completely different texture, and it's absolutely amazing. The Pollo Loco Roll is topped with sweet plantains and teriyaki sauce. It's simple, yet packed with flavor. We finished it all off with a crème brûlée. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be enjoying one at a sushi restaurant, but it was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. If you're looking for creative sushi, unique Latin-inspired flavors, outstanding service, and an atmosphere that makes you feel like family, The Escobar Kitchen is definitely worth the visit.
