    Bifongo stuffed with garlic shrimp
    Aidilyn G.

Finding a place nearby that has good puertorican food has been so difficult. I'm so glad we decided to try Las Casitas! The bifongo was a great balance of green and yellow plantains. The garlic sauce was the perfect compliment to the mofongo, I didn't even need to ask for mayo ketchup. The ambiance is so modern but also got that Puerto Rico feeling. Our server was super attentive and we cannot wait to be back to try more from the menu.

Over the summer my sister took me out to lunch and we discovered this gem in Avalon Park. While the place is relatively small, they offer quite a Puerto Rican menu. The service was a bit too casual for the prices, but I attributed it to the newness of the place; that will not stop me from visiting again. We ordered a few finger foods as appetizers and they were amazing. The pastelillos and sorullitos were excellent. Their food is well seasoned- I had their mofongo relleno con carne frita. Their portions are generous, but some of their fares are slightly overpriced in my opinion. My sister ordered chicken with rice and beans. She loved it. The orders came out at the right temperature, and well garnished and plated. The ambiance is casual, bright and modern. I'll be back soon with my husband and compare visits now that they've been in business a little bit longer. So here we are again, trying Las Casitas a second time. Update: My husband and I are starting with the sorullitos de maíz- a cigar shaped cornmeal fritter that comes with a side of "mayo- ketchup". The fritters were tasty, but dry and hollow, maybe fried in too high a heat. The pastelillo had a nicely seasoned ground beef filling, but I did not like the dough. It was dry, overcooked; not flaky and light as it is traditionally. For the main course, I ordered the mofongo relleno de pollo. Every dish comes with a side salad dressed with a delicate honey vinaigrette, this was nice. My chicken, unfortunately, was overly salty (inedible); I ordered it with chimichurri on the side, which is, as you know, supposed to be nicely seasoned, so the combination was impossible. My chicken was so salty I had to skip it altogether. The mofongo was seasoned well, a bit under, so it could hold the sauce. It was more of a whipped, creamy consistency than the typical mash; it had no crunchy bits or different textures to it. I'm not calling it mofongo. My husband ordered the grilled chicken with tostones. His chicken was seasoned and "grilled" well. The tostones were crunchy on the outside and soft in the center- he loved his main course! We did not order a dessert. This restaurant is small, but offers a wine bar, high tops as well as self standing tables, no booths. Their decoration is tasteful, tidy and modern. They are located in a plaza so they have ample parking space. They keep the place clean and tidy. Their service is casual and friendly. The ambiance is modern, family oriented. Overall, I think they have redeeming qualities, however they're leaving behind the iconic rusticity of the Puerto Rican cuisine. In contrast to my first visit, I found the service much improved, but the kitchen marked significantly lower. It did not meet my expectations

Good food, great portions, great service and nice ambiance! We ordered the lunch special and had food to take home. Stop by and you be the judge! It was our first visit and would definitely be back in the future. Each plate comes with a salad and one side.

This restaurant not only met our expectations.. it' exceeded it. . "Heaven sent". Super tasty n yummy.

The food was amazing! A very authentic taste different from most standard Puerto Rican restaurants. The ratings that it gets not only meet the expectation, but they exceed it. The service was exceptional, we had the waitress called Annabelle and she was not only attentive, but quick, efficient, and very accommodating The ambience was really nice, there was live music, although it was a bit loud See my pictures below two meals that we order in the desert. I highly recommend this place.

    Mofongo with octopus.

The mofongo was delicious the octopus was very tender. The service was okay, but it could have been better since I was the only one there. The ambiance was okay nothing to spectacular. I say give them a try if you are in the area.

    Mofongo de churrasco

This was a cute little restaurant. Very clean with friendly staff. The appetizer we ordered was delish, a chicken pastelillo. The mofongo was very good along with the sauces, the steak however was not. Very chewy and lacking flavor. Also, I wish they had bottled water because their water had a bad taste, not sure if it was the cup or the actual water.

    Alcapurrias

To start the alcapurrias were delicious. They were hot and fresh out of the fryer. Then the mofongo was the best I've found in the Orlando area. The chimichuri sauce on the churrasco was ridiculously good. The portions were huge and fresh. Def recommend.

We keep coming back here and our experience continues to be the same, excellent!! The food quality is of high standards and the taste is always fresh and delicious. We finally made room to try desert and we ordered the highly recommended Tres Leches that our friends had raved about before and it did not disappoint!! We will keep coming back!

My family and I decided to stop by for a quick dinner as we were craving Puerto Rican food. The service was amazing and the food was even better! I will absolutely be back soon.

All around great job, from service to food, entertainment to dessert. I am more than content that we finally have a Hispanic restaurant in the Avalon Park area that serves authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. Started with the sangria, one traditional, the other parcha, I preferred the parcha to the red. As for the food, went straight to the main course; I had a mofongo and my daughter had one with shrimp. Both had the right balance of flavor, seasoning and texture. The pollo chunks, or fried chicken had a good taste, would have liked a little more seasoning but overall they were well done. For dessert the flan capped off the night with a sublime taste that didn't leave an aftertaste as some tend to do. The latin jazz music was excellent and again, the ambience was on point.

The yuca was hard, though I asked for the softest pieces from the bottom, if you know about Yuca you know what I mean. I had gone wanting the roast chicken but right when it got to my turn to place my order, they had run out. So I got the pork. I specifically asked the employee for pieces with less fat, and she responded in a way that seemed annoyed. Unfortunately, the pork I received was nearly half fat, even though I requested less fat and more meat. The worst was the piece of pork skin, it was soggy, any Puerto Rican or Cuban will tell you this is No Bueno The rice was probably the best part of the meal, even though it was not served very hot. Overall, for the price I paid, I expected better food quality, customer service, and consistency. I may give it another opportunity if I'm in the area again and it's earlier in the day though I went on a weekday right after work, 5 ish to be exact but it should be consistent.

The dining room is spacious and well decorated. The server was nice, helpful, and joked around with us during ordering. We ordered a mojito and a passion fruit margarita. My husband said his mojito was good and refreshing. My margarita was ok, a little bland to me but drinkable. For food I ordered a steak sandwich, my husband ordered roast pork with yellow rice and beans. We also ordered a bifongo to share. Once we received our food it was hot and the presentation was nice. The roast pork and rice was well seasoned and tasted great. The steak sandwich was packaged well and was tasty, one of the best steak sandwiches I've had in a long time. The bifongo was soft and you could taste both the sweet plantains and regular plantains perfectly. The bifongo was so tasty on its own it didn't need the sauce it came with. The restaurant is well decorated, the servers helpful and friendly and the food was seasoned to perfection. I would like to come back and try more menu items.
