Mandu (Korean dumplings) lovers rejoice! CHD sits inside a food court at this new North Park HMart, but this greatly exceeded my typical mediocre food court experience. These mandu are delicious . Each mandu is freshly made with a crispy seared crust and a good filling-to-dough ratio (not overfilled or too much skin). The sampler platter is the best value for first-timers or someone who likes their variety. The jalapeno and shrimp mandus packed the best flavors and texture. As a small aside, they do provide very little dipping sauce so recommend asking for at least a couple of sauce containers. Next time you're craving a quick meal, CHD's plump, juicy, and craveable Korean dumplings should do the trick. They even have large sets of frozen dumplings you can take home with you. I ordered vegetarian food and was given meat. The pink-haired lady who took my order confirmed it was vegetarian and then conveniently said nothing until the food arrived. When I pointed out the mistake, she was extremely rude and dismissive. I've ordered this exact item vegetarian before and another employee had no issue making it work, so this was clearly not the problem. Located in the H-mart food court, one of the best for rose tteokbeokki! The tteok is super soft and chewy as the flavorful sauce clings on to each piece. There's so many pieces of sausage and flat wide noodles which I love but the star is that magical sauce. Highly recommend the mandu sampler as well so you can try the different types of fried dumplings. I like to dip the mandu in the tteokbeokki sauce giving it that extra punch of umami lol. read more

They were all cooked perfectly and the skins were thin and nice and chewy. The shrimp mandu was probably my favorite and had a whole shrimp wrapped in the standard pork/veggie filling. The beef mandu was really good too and I don't usually like beef mandu. The kimchi mandu was lacking in flavor a bit compared to the others. I would go back for their mandu. The rose ttokbbokki was a miss for me. I really dislike sausage flavors in korean dishes like army stew, and their rose sauce just tasted like sausage to me. It just overpowered all the other flavors. My husband liked the dish since he doesn't mind sausage flavors but I really couldn't eat this. Otherwise, the rice cakes were well cooked and it had chewy glass noodles too. There were sausages, of course, but I didn't find any fish cakes. read more

Yoohoo!! Finally got to try this place! I have been hearing and seeing food pics of this place from LA location. Now it is finally opened up in Orange County (Irvine). It is located in the food court of h mart recently opened in Irvine Northpark. I got to taste this spicy cold noodle. It is just about perfectly sweet and spicy noodle I used to enjoy back in Korea. I will go back to try dumplings and other dishes to review them as well. *Tip: food court opens 11am. You don't have to line up to get into the food court. Go to the nearest food court entrance and ask the person that you are there to get food. They will allow you to go in. Got the sampler to try the more interesting fillings like jalapeño and sweet smoky pork. I preferred the shrimp the most but they were all immensely greasy. The dish is a 3/5 but the price isn't worth it. However, they went out of their way to accommodate a vegetarian friend by ensuring there wasn't cross-contamination on the steam-cooking equipment before cooking her dumplings, and were transparent that they can't make the same accommodations for the pan fried dumplings. read more

The galbi mandu is the best. The filling has a nice smokiness to it that really tastes like you're eating galbi from the bbq. The mandu skin is always perfectly crispy yet still chewy. Each order comes with 6 mandu, sauce, and the yellow radish. Since this restaurant is located in a HMart food court, the service is usually quick, and there's plenty of seating. You must try the dumplings soup. Break the Mandu dumplings and crush all of the ingredients into the hot broth and stir with steamed white rice to bring out the best flavors locked in the dumplings. Had a delicious lunch here recently! CHD is a new spot located inside the food court at the large HMart location in North Park, Irvine. While they specialize in mandu, Korean dumplings, I had a craving for tteokbokki and was intrigued by their rose tteokbokki so I ended up just ordering that, and my review is just based on that dish. Rose Tteokbokki: Pretty generous portion. Tastes like a creamy gochujang sauce with your usual rice cakes but included different toppings. I especially enjoyed the wide, flat clear noodles in this dish as the texture was AMAZING, and I couldn't stop eating it. There were also small half cuts of sausages that add a good smokey flavor and some bits of bacon/ham as well. Finished with a bit of melted mozzarella cheese and parsley for garnish. Texture for everything, including the rice cakes, were cooked just right. I can tolerate quite a bit of spice and would rate this about a 3.5+/5 on the spicy scale, but I don't think I would recommend eating this entire dish if you like mild spiciness. The dish is served piping hot and maintains the temperature throughout your meal thanks to the metal bowl. If you plan on trying this dish along with any other entrees, I suggest bringing a friend and sharing everything as the portion of tteokbokki does fill you up easily. I felt like price was fair for the area and standard for what you get. The restaurant and parking: This spot sits amongst a few other stores within the newest HMart location in Irvine (NOT DIAMOND JAMBOREE). When you enter the HMart, immediately make a left where you will see the Tous Le Jours bakery and the rest of the restaurants will be on the right of the bakery. You order and pay at the counter, then you will receive a receipt with your number. If you will be dining in, find a table somewhere within their large seating area, and they will call you on the intercom when your food is ready to pick up. After you are finished, just return your tray to the counter. Parking in this area was not a problem. It's a spacious plaza and I found a spot within seconds. Overall: Really enjoyed my lunch here and would definitely come back for the mandu! read more

Mandu chains are often hit and miss but I was drawn by the Jjolmyun as not many Korean places around here offer it. I spent half my life in Seoul and never had Smoked Pork Mandu like this and I'm questioning my life's choices right now. I can't believe this Mandu isn't everywhere on the streets of Seoul. Not only was the mandu cooked absolutely perfectly, it was packed with savory, tender, moist pork that was steeped in delicious charcoal smoky flavor. Incredible flavor, quite possibly the best Mandu I've ever had. The Jjolmyun was also pretty good. I think the sauce is missing a bit of the refreshing tang you get with the slices of pear that is often added to this but that's nitpicking. It's still legit and they added the raw strips of sesame leaf on top, which makes a big difference. Never change CHD, I'm coming back to try the other Mandu! read more

Really good mandus. Freshly fried so they taste extra crispy. Dumpling skin is perfectly thin and the filling was delicious. Surprisingly isn't a very heavy meal. The picked daikon they give helps. Nothing to dislike. Only gripe is that it's weirdly priced for the size. One order of 6 mandus isn't good for anything but a snack, and it seems bizarre to pay $20+ for a dining hall meal that won't fill you up. I wish they offered some sort of combination meal, like kimchi fried rice + mandus for $X. Would have to split eating here with a friend to make this financially sensible haha. read more

I visited them a couple of times, and I loved the interior, services, and most of all, their food! Very delicious, and carefully presented. I tried almost everything on their menu, and they were all good. I also ordered delivery once, via Grubhub, and 30 minutes after they received my order, the store manager - or the owner, I'm not sure - called me and let me know that the delivery guy took my order but he sees him just parked on the street not moving. It was really nice of him to let me know about the status. One of the shops in the busy HMart food court. Intrigued by a restaurant that specializes in mandu, I ordered the fried pork mandu and spicy cold noodle to round out the meal. Food came out pretty quick and seating was self-service. The pork mandu exceeded my expectations with the perfect warm crunch on the surface and a juicy, soft, and savory combination of pork and glass noodles. The tangy dipping sauce added even more depth to the flavor. I was concerned that mandu wouldn't be enough but the 10 dumplings in the mandu sampler would be enough for an average meal. The spicy cold noodle was spicier than expected, and I personally found the lettuce a little out of place as it dries up the mouth a bit. I'd imagine a more refreshing topping would round out the dish better, but overall a solid dish. Will definitely be back for more mandu! Found this unexpected gem in the Hmart food court. My friend and I wanted a quick bite but ended up ordering the rose tteokbokki and the sampler mandu plate, which ended up being pretty filling for two people. It's kind of hard to be impressed by mandu, something that can be made at home or bought frozen for a cheap price - but I really enjoyed getting to try each of the tops flavors with the sampler. The mandu was perfectly crispy on the outside, while juicy and flavorful on the inside (we also asked for extra sauce on the side). My personal favorites were probably the galbi and shrimp! The rose tteokbokki was also really good, even though it's creamier than the original, it still had a good amount of spice to it.
