We recently tried CHD and ordered the sample platter of dumplings which came with three different types for about $25 dollars. Overall the fried dumplings were quite taste and my favorite was the one with half a jalapeno pepper in the filling. I usually order takeout Mandu whenever I go grocery shopping @ Hmart. I like their dipping sauce & crunchy pickles (included as part of mandu menu), but they stopped including them for the takeouts. Came by on the Friday after the HMart first opened and was very pleased about the food! An excellent dumpling place in a nice plaza (though it's a little overrun for now). Breakdown: Food, 5/5: friend and I got the Tteokbokki, Rose Tteokbokki (a creamy version with tendon instead of fishcake), and their Mandu Sampler. All three were really good. I highly recommend dipping the mandu into the tteokbokki sauce, if you can handle the spice. (Warning about the spice levels - they're legit! Medium spice was a good level for me, but my spice tolerance is also higher than average.) Location, 5/5: it's part of the general HMart food court, which was absolutely packed when we went (as expected, since it was opening weekend and all). Nice and convenient for getting your grocery shopping and dinner dealt with in one go in the future, once the crowds thin out a bit. Service, 5/5: despite the crowds, they have an excellent announcement system set up, and the service staff were all very nice and friendly despite what must have been a very long day. The food was 10/10, I loved this place! The sweet pork dumplings were my favorite. My husband got the Kimchi Fried Rice and really liked it. I got the Rose Tteokbokki, it was so delicious but I didn't expect it to be as spicy as it was. Regardless I loved it and I'd order it again. My only concern was how to actually get to this restaurant. You have to go through the exit doors to H Mart or go in the entrance and through a register. It's also a very busy area so if you're looking for quick food then stick to something in the grocery store bc you'll be waiting for a little while. Most importantly, the dumplings tasted good. The fillings were flavorful, and had a nice mixture of ingredients so that it was moist and tender. On the negative side, the price is kinda ridiculous. For $12 on 6 dumplings, it's $2 per dumpling at a food court. There was no banchans included, and the soy sauce dip wasn't enough for 6 dumplings. Also one would expect there to be more flavorings for the dip than just soy, maybe some vinegar or spicy sauce. I would say this is a solid skip. While the dumplings taste above average, there is nothing unique about them to justify the price. The overall experience was very lacking. The mandoo (Korean dumplings) are great! Taste and quality is really good. It is in a food court so you purchase and pick up the food at the register and sit in one if the tables in front. It does get pretty busy in there for the dinner rush, so it may be hard to find seating. read more
