I dealt with chevk appliances for years. The dad always came out was on time and it was very reasonable. My refrigerator wouldn't freeze. It would get cold but not freeze. So who do I call, check appliances. I hadn't used them in a few years and I had also got word that they were closed. But someone told me they still do business. So I called set up appointment. Now I was a little hesitant because I had been reading bad reviews but I figured they just exaggerating. Set up appointment and the dad walks in and I was excited seeing he was still tickin and doing his thing. At that time I met his son. They gave me a price. Now I told them I had an important gig and I needed it fixed. The son gave me date to come after parts came. Long story short I was stood 4/four/quatro times. I was pissed. I had to call the./son. The last time stood me up the day before and said i promise ill be there? This dude here not only didnt show,he didnt even call. There is companies follow through is absolutely terrible. They give you a timeframe or window that they're going to come. They never show up every day. They have an excuse why they can't be here. My new Frigidaire dishwasher wasn't washing my dishes, so Frigidaire Warranty Dept gave me the number to Check Appliances, one of their authorized repair shops. Check eventually fixed my dishwasher. Here's a list of the pros and cons... Pros: -They speak English, the service tech speaks English -Actually show up in time window they say they would be there Cons: -Took three appointments to get the job done. First job - found out motor was bad, had to order one. Second job - came to put in the new motor, discovered that they didn't order an o-ring. Third job - came with the missing o-ring and finished the job. -I had to be proactive and call them all the time to schedule my next appointment since they just leave you in the dark between visits -Takes like 2-3 weeks to get parts -I called to confirm my 3rd appointment the day before and they had me down for a different time. I flipped out cuz I already rearranged my entire schedule. After much complaining, they fixed my time. -The tech does a very rough job - your floors will be very dirty. -The tech must have dropped something heavy cuz it TOOK A CHUNK OUTTA MY KITCHEN TILE FLOOR!!!! read more

I called C.A. for them to come out to fix my dishwasher. They sent a technician named Edwin. Edwin was horrible!! He was very slow and confused. I had to tell him what he needed to fix, which was to clean out the drainage tube from the dishwasher. It took him almost and hour and a half. Do yourself a favor, go with a different company!! read more

Somebody lied...they are NOT closed! I guess customers reported the company as closed, so new customers wouldn't use their services or buy products from them. I live near there shop and pass it everyday and it looked open to me. So I actually called them and they promptly answered. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews, maybe it was just bad timing in some of the situations. I have been dealing with Check Appliances for 20 years and I have always gotten great service from them. When I first moved to the area, I bought a nice stove from them that just went on the blink and has only had one other minor problem that they fixed over five years ago since I've owned it. I just made an appointment for Erwin Sr. to come out and check my stove and refrigerator, and I am sure I will have great continued service. If something has changed about the service, I will indeed update my experience. And no, they are not my personal friends nor have I been given any special discounts to review them. I'm not knocking how you felt about the service. I'm a paying customer like everyone else and expect quality service, and if the service isn't up to par by all means let the yelp community know, but to report that a business is closed when it's not is just wrong! read more

Got set up for a scheduled repair thru Frigidaire for Monday the 10th from 12pm - 5pm. I waited til 4pm before I called them up asking when the repair person will arrive. The lady that answered told me I was scheduled between 12pm - 6pm and that the repair person was running a lil late and will come shortly after 6pm. I informed her that it's suppose to be between 12pm - 5pm but didn't want to argue about it when she started to refute. I then called Frigidaire back just to confirm my appointment time thinking maybe I made a mistake and again they confirmed that I was scheduled for 12pm - 5pm and that to call them back if there's an issue with the repair. 6:40pm rolled around and still nothing...I tried calling Check Appliance back and got voicemail. So I'm thinking to myself wow how professional, I took a half day off from work for you and you don't show and have the nerve to tell me you're on your way. Thanks for wasting my time and money! Makes me wonder how this company stays in business. Well Frigidaire was kind enough to reschedule my repair with another company. (When they called Check to see what happened, they had the audacity to lie and say i rescheduled for Friday lol) *if you're lucky enough to read my comment before your scheduled repair - CANCELL!!!! I purchased a Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator on August 17, 2015. Within the 1.5 years of ownership I have had a repairman on site 5 separate times. YES, 1.5 YEARS AND 5 TIMES THE REPAIR MAN WAS OUT. THIS PRODUCT IS HIGHLY DEFECTIVE AND CERTAINLY NOT WORTH THE $1,159 PRICE TAG!! DEFECT 1, INCIDENT 1 - 11 months following my purchase the motherboard went out while I was on vacation for the 4th of July and all of my food spoiled. Needless to say it was quite an awful finding upon my return. I contacted Frigidaire and the service man that handled the claim was on time and a pleasure to deal with. HOWEVER, it took AN ENTIRE MONTH to receive a new motherboard. Please keep in mind that this is my mothers home and she is elderly. Not having availability to refrigerated food is a health concern. DEFECT 2 AND 3, INCIDENT 2 - TWO MONTHS LATER in November of 2016 the fan unit for the entire refrigerator and the motor stopped working. This happened for Thanksgiving!!! All of the food again spoiled and caused a loss in money and again was a health issue for my elderly mother. AGAIN IT TOOK 3 WEEKS FOR THE MOTOR AND FAN TO BE REPLACED!!! This puts us to Christmas 2016 DEFECT 4, INCIDENT 3 - Around December 22, the motherboard failed along with the fan. This is the 3rd MAJOR incident within 3 months. A service request was placed and it took 2 weeks are a service person to be dispatched to my mothers residence. TWO WEEKS!!! The work was sublet-ted to Check Appliances. On January 15 a repairman finally arrived and we were told that it would take a minimum of 1 week for the part to arrive. 3 WEEKS WENT BY AND WE WERE NOT CONTACTED BY CHECK APPLIANCES NOR FRIGIDAIRE!!!. We attempted to contact Check Appliances and Frigidaire and was only able to make contact with Frigidaire. We were told that they could see the part was ordered and to give Check Appliances a chance to contact us and make good on the request for a service repair. The day following my attempt to get the issue resolved I was able to make contact with Check Appliances. When I requested an update on the status of the repair I was promptly hung up on and their full mailbox answering machine was activated. Today is now February 25 and not only is the unit not functioning it is now making a loud continuous noise. MY MOTHER HAVE NOT RECEIVED A QUALITY PRODUCT, NOR THE SERVICE EXPECTED THROUGH THE PURCHASE AND SUBSEQUENT REQUESTS FROM THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAVE ALSO PROVEN TO BE A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY, TIME, ENERGY AND EFFORT. I will never again purchase a Frigidaire product and will warn as many people as I can against the poor quality of this brand. I am requesting a replacement of my unit with a brand new unit, not a refurbished unit. If this cannot be honored I am demanding a full refund. read more

They have essentially sat on my refrigerator and said they were fixing it, but it never got fixed. Warranty for nothing. Excuses of replacing parts, but when I got it back, it was in the exact same condition and it took 3 months! No phone call ever, even after they say, I'll call you tomorrow. Check Appliances just left from fixing my washer and left a big pile of trash in my front yard. I had a list of 6 places to get my washer repaired because Frigidaire to their credit payed for the parts that should have not worn out in the three years we have had it. I just had to pay for labor. Parts would have been another $600 to $700. I looked here on Yelp at what others had said about the choices I had. I tried another place first but they didn't show up when they were should had and when I called to find out what was going on they told me they would be here at about 8:30 that night. Not acceptable plus they wanted $95 to just come out. I also called another place who told me labor would be $700. So again I went through Frigidaire's list and Check Appliances seem to be the next best of the list. It started out good. They came out the next day to check it out which did seem like a waste of time since we already knew what was wrong from having Appliance Guard out. Appliance Guard is the place who told me to get Frigidaire to pay for parts. I would have had them fix the washer but Frigidaire would not send them the parts because they aren't one of their approved places. They should be. If you don't have a warranty or anything like that use Appliance Guard. They do good work besides being very helpful since they knew that Frigidaire would not send them the parts so they missed out on getting paid except for the service call which was only $35. Anyway back to Check Appliance. I was told that it would take about 2 weeks to get the parts. This did seem excessive but since I weren't paying for parts I said OK. They set an appointment for 2 weeks which just happened to be on Memorial Day weekend. From my perspective they should have called me on Friday and told me they hand't gotten the parts but they didn't. I called and that is how I found out they weren't coming out the next day. I was also told they would call Frigidaire and find out when the parts would get there and they would call me Tuesday. No call from them by 4pm so I called them. Still no parts and again they would find out what was going on and they would call me. Still no call by noon on Wednesday so I call again. I'm told no parts but they would call Frigidaire yet again and call me back with in 15 minutes. Of course no call, So at 3pm I call and they tell me the parts are in and since the woman on the phone tells me she remembers I am only free on Saturdays ( I never told her that, I'm retired so why would I tell her that?) so just for me they would be out first thing Saturday morning. I as so sick of all the BS I was getting from this place. The woman tells me she will call me first thing Saturday morning. Guess what happens, yea no call. I call them and she tells me she will call me when they leave to come to my house. It should only be about an hour. Did she call? Of course not. So I call at 11am, 3 hours later. Again I get she was just going to call me, but this time she does tell me they are on they're on way. So finally an hour an a half later they show up. It should have only been a half hour drive. It takes them about 2 hours to fix the washer. It was a lot of work. They replaced the inner and outer basket along with a few other things. Then I go to pay them I hand them a credit card. It gets a bit sticky because they don't speak English. The first guy that came out did have an accent but he spoke English. I end up writing a check which I didn't want to do. They should tell people they do not accept credit cards. Who doesn't accept credit cards? Appliance Guard even has a credit card reader on their phone. Check Appliance is lucky I even had a check. Most people these days use technology to pay bills and buy things don't they? I know I do. So be warned if you use Check Appliance. You can't talk with the repair people, they don't call when they say they will, they leave you hanging about getting parts in, you have to pay by cash or check, and they don't cleanup after themselves. read more

Mr. Erwin repaired a Thermalcoupler in my Wedgewood stove back in 2009, he was timely, quick and not expensive. This past Sunday(yep, he came on Sunday....with his wife in tow) to fix my fridge, Schedule was between 9:00am and 12:00 noon...he called and was there at 9:30 am. My fridge had compacted ice within the wiring system and he used a steamer to melt it (took 30 minutes) and replace my sensor. I gave him some items to catch and minimize the mess of melting ice he used them and didn't leave a mess (thankfully). Nearly 2 hours later I had a fully functioning and FREEZING fridge. The price was a little higher than I expected, but I think my fridge works like new now....so I'm HAPPY! Thanks Check Applicances and Mr. Erwin! read more

I contacted Erwin to help with non-working water heater (bradford white) which was under warranty. He showed up on time on a Sunday and diagnosed the problem. controller was bad, so he went to the store and got a replacement part and changed it and made sure everything was working fine. Also Range hood top was not working because of a bad circuit breaker, he troubleshot the problem and replaced it. He came 3 times total, every time was on-time, didn't give me any surprise on the costs, he negotiated up front. Overall it was a good experience. read more

If you need an appliance repaired...this is your guy. Read below and you will see a dedicated repairman who will come and help when you need it most. It's a small business and he seems to be the only employee. Be patient he will come, do a good job even at an inconvenience and difficulty to himself. I have to give credit where credit is due. Here is my story. I bought a frigid-aire fridge from best buy a few years ago. It was not a happy purchase. I got a lemon... but at least I got a square trade warranty. 10 months in the thing started beeping incessantly and got warm. Turns out the main control board was bad. That repair was on the manufacturer. A few months later both drawers broke. This was on square trade. After three weeks of no repairman showing up I got square trade to send them to me directly and I fixed them on my own. Two and a half years in and the ice maker dispenser goes bad. It took three months and two repair companies before Square trade got Erwin from Appliance Check to come out and take a look. He instantly diagnosed the problem but the part had to be special ordered. A month later no callback from the repair company so I called and they were legitimately sorry but somehow I slipped through the cracks. Unlike most companies that are not really sorry I could hear it in the voice of the woman I spoke to. They had the part and would be out the next day. The next daY they came out as stated but somehow I slept through it. Somehow I missed them when they came though they called leaving a msg but my phone died overnight) and left a card. I was sleeping I guess. I found their business card on the front porch so it was defiantly my fault. This is where they really performed. They came back that same night at about 7 pm. Where else do you get that service? As luck would have it the part didn't fit, he noticed it as soon as he opened the box, so it had to be reordered. He said he would put it on overnight order and be back in 2-3 days. I was happy since most repair places would not have been back the same night and if they did come back would have been passive aggressive and said it will be fixed when the slow boat from China got here. Remember I had already been waiting three months due to square trade's screw up. Here is where the fun begins. That night at 4am the beeping starts. I open the door and notice right away the main board is dead. Next day I call and they have no appointments for three days but they will call Erwin and see if he can come by but he is in Pasadena at rush hour and I am by LAX so is I already know the answer. But my fridge and all the food is thawing! Now I am frantic. This is not an ice maker inconvenience. This is the real deal panic moment problem. But, I know the problem, I saw the last guy repair it... If you can change an IDE hard drive you can swap out a main board. I decide I can fix it. I locate the part put it on will call and will pick it up the next day. I know my capacity to screw things up so I am still reluctant to try this on my own. No joke I get a call from Erwin and he is on his way. Got there at 7:30 diagnosed the problem but said since it was after hours he didn't know if he could get the part. I told him it was on layaway. He knew the place and would pick it up in the am and be back the next evening. Sure enough he was back the next night at 7:30 and fixed both items. It has been two months and I have not had any more problems. The fridge was fixed and has stayed fixed. Here is how I see it. Erwin is a genuine and dedicated guy who must like his work and helping people. This is a small business not a large rip off company that has to charge exorbitant prices to cover overhead and advertising and lead generation and marketing. I think he may be the only employee. We all make mistakes. The part slipped through the cracks with the ice maker. I screwed up by not being awake and having a dead phone when they came by. But they didn't let hard feelings bother them and were attentive with after hour calls each time. You never see this in today's world. This guy provides service like it was the 50's. I will never use a different repair company. If you are comparing two companies and this one may be $10-20 more think about the service you are going to get. This guy will show up on an emergency when I imagine others won't. You get what you pay for. Granted I didn't pay OOP since this was a warranty issue but if is had to pay I would value steadfast tenacity over a few bucks. Plus it's so hard to know who is legit when appliances break so infrequently and when they do it's easier to junk it and start over. No one really uses an appliance repair man any more. Company does not know how to do follow up. Came to repair the fridge and wasted 3 weeks just to order parts. Very poorly managed. Called the office and the office does not know or want to know about whats going on out in the field. The office tells you that they will call back with the status and never calls back. You gotta consistantly call them to schedule work and the parts that they are receiving. Basically you got to do their job to get the work done I guess. Common excuse is "we don't have your part yet", or we don't know when your part will be here. Lame excuse! There are ways to track parts that are ordered and they do not know how to track. Would not use these people if I had choice. Only Cons: Un-organized. Their repairmen seem fine but their office is awful. I've been dealing with them since January about a broken dishwasher. The part never came in from Danby, which isn't their fault, but it's been torture dealing with their office. Every other time I call, they don't answer, I leave a message, and they don't call me back. I think out of maybe 20 phone call messages I left for them they called back twice. So it's hard to reach them, and when you do reach them, they say they have to call someone else (like the repairman) to get an answer for you and they'll call back, and then they don't call back. So then you have to remember to call them back a few days later, you leave a message, wait and they don't call back. You keep doing that until you reach someone. At one point, before they realized they didn't have the part, they scheduled a time for me to get the repair done, they give me a 4 hour window or whatever, they don't show, I call at the end of the window to see when they'll be there, and they tell me never because they don't have the part. Then why not call me and cancel the appointment??? Why make me spend my day waiting in the house when you're not going go come. Finally they said if the part doesn't come by May 20 we'll send you your deposit back. All week they don't call me or return my calls, then a few hours before Memorial Day weekend starts I finally reach them, and they say they can't send the check until Tuesday because of the weekend. Good grief! They are the only repair people who do Danby dishwashers within about 10 miles of me so that means I need to buy a new dishwasher because of one little part. UPDATE: They said on Friday they would send me the check on Tuesday, but instead they waited until end of business day Wednesday to call me and ask if I wanted the check mailed or hand delivered. If they had just mailed it on Friday or even Tuesday I probably would have it in hand by Wednesday night or at least Thursday. Instead I had to call back and say that I don't care how they send it, but I'm not going to wait in the house again for them since last time I did that they were a no-show. So they said, it's OK he can just put it in the mailbox. So why have it hand-delivered? Why not just mail it to me on Tuesday like you said you would? Good grief! read more

A star is giving these guys way too much credit. Scheduled a service call for a deli freezer we have at work place. Service guys shows up and because he could not find parking he leaves and protests via telephone "Im way too busy and cannot wait". Mind you the place of business has parking structures everywhere. Not sure if service guy was expecting a sign with blinking ights that said "FREE PARKING FOR DELI FREEZER REPAIR DUDE"? Sorry wasn't going to happen like that. Then I contacted main office and spoke to Jose (who only seems to be in the office by chance) and he seemed like he actually cared and explained they needed approval from manufacturer of freezer to get reimbursed for parking and he would contact me as soon as he got it...7 days later I call back he's not in the office but other gentlemen "takes a message" for me. Totally getting the run around here so i contact manufacturer and let them know the issue and they reschedule me with another company that hopefully is better suited to figure out their parking regulations! Robert Moreno was the tech sent to my home to repair my washing machine. He was courteous and professional. He not only repaired my machine, but cleaned the machine motor and oiled it, swept up around the machine. He left everything neat and clean. He even adjusted the water pressure to perserve the water valve. He showed me the parts removed and why they no longer functioned. I would definitely call them back. I bought a refrigerator (ALMOST $200) from these guys 3 months ago and "THE DAMN THING WENT OUT" so all my food, baby formula and all went bad. I called the company and spoke with some guy name Asmann (I am not sure if that is the correct spelling) when I talked with him he ask me for all the information that I put on the invoice, however was unable to locate the information in his system. Why fill out a invoice when the company cannot even found it. So, then he tells me that he can send a tech. out to my home on Tuesday (mind you this is Saturday my refrigerator went out on Friday night) I have children. He said to me that I should have called sooner I said if I knew the damn thing was going to go out I would have called you a few days before. Then he told me that he cannot just cancel peoples appointments and I understand that however he could send out a tech for emergency purposes and could you stop being so damn rude.
