My family typically likes Cheddars. We have been to several. The similarities this location has to others stops at the nice decor. Although we were seated immediately, that's where service slowed almost to a stop. This was a Monday, not a busy dining night. Our meal arrived and looked ok. However, each plate had minor problems that add up to a poor experience. Too salty on a club sandwich. Corn dogs with "doughy batter." Salmon that seemed like it sat under the heat lamp too long and a cheeseburger with not enough cheese. Once, the server said she would be right back with drinks. By the time she returned, we had finished our meals and had been waiting for the bill for ten min. more. When she arrived, she didn't have drinks & only asked of things were ok. Normally, I would speak with the manager about these issues. However, we had other conversation during dinner and didn't discuss the quality of our meals until we hit the highway again. We like Cheddars. Hopefully, management or corporate administrators can remedy problems at this location, before its too late. We will not return here, until enough time passes for customer service and food quality to improve significantly. read more

I usually don't write a review unless the experience was either very bad or very good. My meal at this restaurant was very good. Probably the best Cajun grilled catfish that I have ever had. Love this place!! We came here during our homecoming weekend. I usually don't order burgers, but I did... and I'm NOT disappointed!! I recommend the Smokehouse burger (bacon, cheddar and bbq sauce.) Surprisingly good food for a small town. I had the mango tilapia with green beans and apple yogurt. Cooked well, well seasoned. Watch the Caesar salad. Was way over dressed. But it came with a croissant that was good and buttery (sweat cream butter rather than plain salted butter - but this isn't France). Had dinner there this evening. The service was most adequate with the server being efficient and attentive. I had the breaded catfish. It was actually battered and the batter was so thick it was hard to find the fish. Really disappointing. Tanisha made me feel welcome. As a solo traveler that is important. The Queso Dip is yummy. I had to force myself to stop eating it. The big surprise was the salmon. It was prepared perfectly and was delicious. The only thing I would change is put less butter in the rice but I don't like a lot of butter so that is a personal preference. read more

Wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the chicken alfredo was the best I've ever had. Customer service was spectacular, even though the restaurant was busy drinks came right away and we received our order in under 20 minutes. The trainee accidentally gave me a dilluted coke, but as soon as I got it the waiter had a fresh coke in hand to replace it. My grandfather ordered a medium well steak and instead received a steak that was well done, and the waiter offered a replacement but he declined and said it was still delicious. Bathrooms were spotless and didn't have gaps between the stall doors like most public bathrooms. Overall fantastic time and would definitely return again! read more

The food is good but the service is sorely lacking. Unfortunately we made the mistake of visiting on a holiday. It took over an hour to be seated. The hostess passed us up multiple times and we had to remind her we were there. Once we were seated, it was at a small table that was too little for our party, made it very uncomfortable. But we were starving so we went with it. Our waitress (Sherri A.) was horribly rude! Our Easter Sunday dinner was absolutely ruined by her attitude. She messed up our tickets and when we questioned her she not only couldn't explain but was incredibly rude to us when we asked, almost as if we had done something wrong. She was very condescending to my elderly mother and aunt. Then she charged the wrong amount to our credit card and didn't seem to be able to understand when we asked to fix it. We asked to see the manager and he asked her to fix it and then she messed it up again. At this point we had waited over 30 minutes to get our bill fixed so we just paid it and left. We were a group travelling through the area and decided to eat at Cheddar's because their online menu looked like it was diverse and everyone could find something they liked. We had 11 people, which is often a problem for restaurants, and Cheddar's was no exception. We arrived at 8pm on a Sunday night and were seated at 8:15pm. They accomodated our large group by splitting us into two tables, 3 at a booth next to a large table for 8. Our waiter greated us and took our drink order for both tables (and two app orders that came pretty quickly). Some folks ordered water, some soda, some drinks from the bar. 15 minutes later we got our drinks and he started to take our order. By the time he had gone around to everyone, most of us were ready for drink refills. I said to him that he might want to ask another waiter fro help or alert the manager that he had a large group and we needed attention. A young lady appeared, a waitress, and she seemed to be more seasoned, asking about refills and getting them pronto. A man appeared in an apron and spoke briefly to the 3 people at the booth. No one was sure what his capacity was. We kept waiting for food to arrive. Some of the party had ordered salads and soup, but these never came. The waitress was very attentive, she refilled drinks and offered to bring chips and salsa to the tables. Over an hour after we ordered our meals, around 9:35, our dinners arrived. Some salads and soups appeared at the same time. The food was very good. The man in the apron re-appeared and asked if we needed anything else? Not if we were happy or if everything was OK, just if we needed anything else. Heck of a time to ask, after our dinners arrived! Again, he never said what his capacity was. When we finished eating, the waitress (our original waiter never reappered) had to ask everyone what they got so she could enter our orders and prepare our bills. OK. One of our group said that maybe the manager would take her app off the bill for waiting so long, I chimed in that maybe he should buy us all dessert. the waitress said, "They hate to give food away here" to which I replied, "but they love to give dinners out an hour after you order?". I had mentioned dessert because we all had our eyes on the chocolate cake we had seen online. She returned with our bills and distributed them. So, not only did the manager not do anything for our inconvenience, we didn't even get asked if we wanted coffee or dessert, even after my prompting about dessert! We paid and left. It was 10:10pm. The food was great, the waitress was great, we were never rude or noisy. We had plenty to complain about but no one ever identified themselves as a manager or apologized. They had every opportunity to make this terrible situation better and they didn't. maybe going as a small group would be better as far as getting your food from the kitchen, but the lack of good customer service would effect you no matter how many were in your party if a problem arose with your meal. read more

Megan answered the phone and when I stated that I'd like to place a to go order, she asked me to hold for "one second." Six minutes later, she picked up asking how she could help. I stated again that I'd like to place an order again. She asked me to hold "one second." After a long hold again, someone named Christy picked up. She asked how she could help. I explained that I needed to place a to go order. I explained my frustration with the hold times. No apologies or acknowledgement. This has happened before and I've been somewhat forgiving. This will be my last time as a customer at the Bristol Cheddar's. I work too hard for my money to spend it on mediocre service and experiences. read more

Sad sad place to try and have a good meal.we are local,live less than two minutes away from there.hostesses would rather play on there phones than greet the customers.when you do get seated it was 5 to 8 minutes before we seen our waitress.seemed like it was a bother for her to wait on us/not pleasant at all.and when we did get our food bought out she almost hit my wife in the head with the plate,cause we were talking and she just shoved the plates between us while we still talking. This particular location's standards leave a lot to be desired and I avoid going to this location. They are quick to seat you but then they ignore you! The last time I went I was seated and waited over 10 minutes and no one ever came to take our drink orders much less food orders and this had happened several times before but I decided it was the last time I was about to spend $60 for my family and feel ignored so we all got up and left and told the hostess we had been waiting over 10 minutes no one came to help, the service had been poor many times before and now they were loosing us as a customer! read more

We stayed in Bristol during travel north. Unfortunately it was a very busy night and when receiving our food to go (very tired from our drive and staying in a nearby hotel) we did not check it. Our son's meal was missing. I called the restaurant and the manager, Nathan was very professional. He asked us to return after a very heartfelt apology. He not only replaced the food but also gave us dessert and cold drinks complimentary. I love Cheddar's so I went without reservations. The food is always outstanding. Nathan made an honest mistake on a busy night into a kind and thoughtful gesture. He even returned our tip. We will return to this Cheddar's in Bristol in the future! read more

i am traveling through. staying at the marriott, down the street. i looked up restaurants around the hotel and this one looked interesting. i went to place an order to go, my first mistake. the 1 barkeep took about 6 min before he even acknowledged me. said he be right with me. about 5 min later he came and took my drink order, i also said i wanted to place a to go order. he said he be right back, then 5 min later he came back. i asked for the special on the board at the front door, which said bone in ribeye and 2 sides for 19.99. well this is the regular price for the bone in ribeye not a special. also ordered food for my wife the spaggetti thing. made sure i had everything and went back to my room. i was in the restaurant for about 45 mins waiting to place and recive my order, which is not too bad. when i got back to my room i ate my cesar salad, i had asked for extra cheese and dressing, i got the dressing but absolutley no cheese not evern what comes with it.when i placed my order i told him i wanted the steak well done, and when he put the order he repeted well done. when i cut into the steak, was def not well done it mooded back at me. i hate under cooked meat. i went back to the restaurant was given a choice of finishing cooking the one i brought back or get a new steak,another 20 min wait. i got my money back, never get an order to go here it really sucks. and by the time i got back to the room the rest of my food was cold so i just wasted 60.00 on crap food read more

This review is only for the Cheddar's in Bristol, VA. Every other Cheddar's I've been to has been awesome. The Cheddar's in Kingsport, TN is so good with service and food it's hard not to compare them with others. First thing I noticed was how unfriendly the staff was. I just thought the hostess was not friendly but our waitress and the woman who brought our spinach dip do not know how to respond to the words "thank you". Second was the taste of the spinach dip... I've had it so many times I could tell it was different. My friend and I both got the chicken tortilla soup and it had no cheese and tasted like tomato soup (another dish I get every time). She also got a salad with no croissant and the salad was not made right like other cheddars. I normally do not write reviews on restaurants but it was just one thing after another and the cheddars name is just too good for that kind if service. This location needs to do better. read more
