I wish Cracker Barrel was as good as it used to be. Service was good, not great. Half of the signature chicken that was ordered was good, the other half was very thick and like rubber. Not edible at all. Waitress brought another piece but never bothered to ask if that was better or how everything was. My grilled chicken tenders were pretty good, however, the sides (corn and green beans) were fair at best. Cracker Barrel has switched to the cheapest available canned vegetables. So sad, because I used to love their green beans. Corporate will never read or listen to complaints because all that matters is money, not quality. Honestly, done with CB unless I am desperate and there is no where else nearby. read more

The stop at Cracker Barrel was what I was expecting. Consistent good food, quick. I got there right at the end of rush hour for lunch and everything went very smooth. We came in for lunch today and had Carol as our waitress....she provided outstanding service which is the reason for the 4 stars. If I was rating just the food, it would be 3 stars. We both had different fried chicken tender meals. The chicken for both of our dishes were warm, at best. If they had been freshly fried I'm sure they would have been better. Carol also brought us freshly baked biscuits hot out of the oven. The sides were fine and the price is always fair. My general opinion of Cracker Barrel is that the food is just mediocre: it's something that I could easily make at home myself. Visiting the South with my mother, she wanted to experience Cracker Barrel for the first time, so we stopped at this location. She ordered the haddock dinner with baked apples, coleslaw, and steak fries as her sides. I got the fried catfish with the classic dumplings and hashbrown casserole as my sides. While the haddock and catfish were good, my dumplings were basically gelatinous and the hashbrown casserole had zero flavor whatsoever. The homemade biscuits were the best part of the entire experience. I think the appeal of Cracker Barrel is the homemade, simple and familiar, comfort food. That's not generally why I choose to go out to eat. I prefer something new and different that I cannot make at home. read more

This was my first time eating at this chain! I have heard rave reviews but never stopped in. When I came in I was greeted by ladies, who were friendly! I didn't realize they had a store as well, that's what driving for 10 hrs does for you! I was seated and not long after a young lady with a smile came up, engaged me in conversation,& took my order. I was happy that she could give me a good description of the menu, a lot of people don't eat where they work! I ended up picking the fish and chips! Great choice! Took over an hour to get our food. People who were sat at the same time as us had ate and left by the time we got our food and people who were sat a half hour after us got their food first. Finally got our food and the plates were too hot to touch the eggs had literally been over cooked on top from the warming lights and the pancakes were hard from the warming lights. Took 15 minutes to get a coffee refill. All while we watched our waitress talk to a bus boy for a good ten minutes. This bad review has very little to do with staff. Although some of the dishes could have been cleaned better. The staff was friendly and efficient. My main concern is Covid related. It is a cluster mess getting into the restaurant. I know they are known for the "country store" aspect, but there is zero chance to social distance while trying to navigate the aisles to get to the check-in stand. All Cracker Barrels need to redesign their inside to accommodate people still willing to eat out and try to stay safe. There are plenty of people who still can't figure out how to wear a mask, they are a lost cause, but others that take the effort to keep themselves and others safe need all businesses to help get through this. This place used to have just about the worst Cracker Barrel food in America, but about three years ago the manager must have changed because the food is perfect for Cracker Barrel food. Service incredibly good and it's always busy here because the food is so much better then it used to be. Us locals eat here all the time because where else are you going to eat in Bristol Virginia? The food was very good, but service was great! Four of us went for brunch at noon on a Sunday with most of us getting breakfast food. Only tiny complaint was that the biscuits were a little darker than normal. We called ahead by 10 minutes to put our name in and were seated upon arrival even though it was busy. Carol was our hardworking server. She was warm, personable and charming. Though the food took awhile, she was prompt with getting our order and drinks. She was very attentive without being annoying. Wish more servers were like her. Made our day! read more

Cracker Barrel is Cracker Barrel when they first opened the bacon was very good and crisp like it was fried on a flat top now it's limp and greasy. I think it's all cooked in a oven now, I don't know who came up with this idea but this is BEACON people it supposed to be FRIED not BAKED. if you want healthy DONT EAT THE BEACON get grits. When driving through Bristol in the morning this seemed like an easy an and off place from the interstate to grab a decent breakfast and it is. We experienced excellent service. In fact, our sweet tea was refilled before the glass even reached half empty. Our food was out in 10 minutes, cooked the way we asked for (even the crispy bacon) and was hot. For breakfast, I'm not sure you can go wrong. I'm a fan of the Maine Blueberry pancakes and you will be, too. But, this is Cracker Barrel and if you're from the South you know what to expect and that will be provided at this location, at least it was to us. read more

Standard Cracker Barrel fare- but the service was best I've had at any CB across the country. Our server, Brett, gave honest opinions about menu items- particularly since we stopped here 45 minutes before closing. He took a special order for one of the kids and was quick to offer to replace a side with something different if it came out less than fresh and to our liking. Brett should be promoted to a Trainer position to train servers for this company. CB should take notice of this guy. Great experience for road weary travelers with tired and picky kids!! Considering this is in the same parking lot as the hotel we stayed it, it was a good deal. CB has great prices! The prices were actually better than our hotel breakfast. I ordered the fruit and granola parfait and it was great. Hard to mess up! I took off a star for two reasons, this location doesn't have seasonal items. Also my husbands order was messed up! Gave him sausages instead of bacon and his eggs weren't cooked the way he asked. He had to send the meal back, which we never like to do. Cracker Barrel is my husband's favorite so we stop at one any time we have a chance. This was by FAR the worst experience I've ever had at one. They had a sudden rush and it seemed like everyone freaked out at once. We were taken to a dirty table, by that I mean food still on it, empty drinks, etc. Its worth mentioning that I'm 6 months pregnant, so I was quite the obstacle for other staff/customers to dodge while we awkwardly stood and waited for them to clean it. My food included over done eggs, pink sausage, and burnt biscuits. Plus it was missing some items, we were brought no jelly for the biscuits and had to ask twice to get any (it was a different waitress that brought our food and she just completely ignored us so we waited 10 min for our own waitress to make it back around to us) The only good thing about this visit was our original waitress.
