I eat here as often as I can, excellent menu from steaks, to pasta, to salmon with lots of well made side items. They do an awesome Sante Fe Spinach dip with chips and wonderful honey croissants! Food is always hot and the restaurant is always busy, especially on Sundays. They do from time to time have either a short staff or staffing turnovers which affects service but when the crew is up to speed this restaurant is top notch! read more

Worst experience I've ever had. Took my sister out to eat and I'm a server have been for 6 years and they missed every point. We waited for 5 minutes at the host stand to be seated the managers stood next to us talking never acknowledged us waiting to be sat. The host finally came and sat us we waited for another 5 minutes to be greeted let alone acknowledged. Our server was a real sweet heart but by the time she came I was annoyed by all the servers whom passed us without touching the table or helping their fellow employee. We ordered our drinks and our food and the drinks came out 4 mins later and food came out Luke warm. We ate and then paid and left. I was over it what happened to my section my quad my restaurant. Normal greet time is under 30 seconds drink time is 2 min food time is 12 min or less even in a scratch made kitchen. Always offer dessert and mention guest by name when bringing check back and manager touch back nobody checked on us... it would be everybody's responsibility to seat or even check on a table.. lack of teamwork in this place is straight up embarrassing... if I were a secret shopper they would of failed... neither my sister nor myself enjoyed the food... read more

This review is really just based on service. I went here Thursday June 12 and the service was horrible. When the waiter was putting down the napkins instead of walking around the table when it came to placing napkins on the other side, the waiter just tossed them. You would think the waiter would have known before we placed our drink orders that they were out of coke and sprite. So that was strike 1. The 2nd strike was accumulated when I ordered the country fried steak. After we ordered our food, the waiter comes back to let me know they are out of country fried steak. After that I decided to get the fried chicken steak which my aunt asked if I can get the dinner portion at the lunch price. The waiter stated with an attitude let me get the manager. So David the manager stated he wasn't able to do that for some reason. The whole time I was there I'm just thinking how do you run out of all this stuff and the restaurant had only been opened for like a hour or two. I either had some rather inattentive waitress, but she wasn't inattentive with her other customers. A beer on tap should not take 24 minutes to be brought to our table. i believe this place has gone downhill. don't get me wrong, i love cheddars. i first experienced cheddars where i went to school in johnson city, tennessee. the place in johnson city was great. the managers gave us student discounts, and the service was beyond phenomenal. it opened in johnson city in spring of 2001 and then opened in charlotte the following year. i told my grandmother about it and said that we needed to go while i was in charlotte for thanksgiving. we went two days before thanksgiving, as my classes were always cancelled for a break during thanksgiving week, and the food was phenomenal. the service was great, and she loved it. since moving to the charlotte area i have been there a handful of times; enough for them to know me. i went there once with a girl from work one friday afternoon. the restaurant was not so crowded, and the woman said it would be about twenty minutes for a table. mind you, the entire place was just about empty. i told her that there were tons of places; however, she said that these places were currently not available. we waited, and they sat us as soon as they could. the good news was that we did not have to wait twenty minutes. she and i ordered. i ordered the grilled chicken salad with no cheese and told them to add pico instead, and an order of chicken tortilla soup. i told her honey mustard dressing on the side as i am not a ranch fan. my friend ordered the buffalo chicken salad with ranch on the side. the server never brought out the soup and when i got the salad it was covered with ranch dressing. my friend's salad had blue cheese dressing. we sent it back, and the server just snatched the salads up without saying anything to us. she brought us back new salads about ten minutes later. also, my soup never came and when she came to bring us the bill it was on there. she started to argue with me about how i had already eaten the soup. i said it was never brought. she apologized in such a way that was full of apathy. i kept her name in my billfold so the next time i would know he name. she was scheduled to be the server weeks later when we brought other friends, but we said we wanted a different one. they brought us another one who was so sweet. everything was correct and brought out in a timely manner. i call it a soup curse. ever since i have been there and ordered the soup, the wrong soup has been brought, or no soup was brought at all. this place that was once my favorite restaurant has turned from awesome to just okay. read more

The food was very good but the level of professionalism was a 0! As I waited for my takeout order I listened to several staff member complain about how they could not wait to get off of work and how they had 30 minutes to go only to make a two dollar tip. I also listen to them complain about people walking in 15 to 30 minutes before closing and question why they would walk in to an establishment just before closing and how the food and the service was going to be horrible due to the restaurant closing shortly. I also watched a waitress literally roll on he floor in laughter because of her co-workers comments about the tips they had received from their last customers...it was a total disgrace for the person who was left in charge to monitor that establishment. Needless to say I was with a friend from out of town who said "I hope their behavior is not a reflection of how my food is going to taste" and all I could do was shake my head and apologize for your staffs behavior when it was not my responsibility to do so! Here is a tip...either clean house or host some training sessions on how to remain professional while on the job!!!! We decided to go to dinner after a very long day. We ordered the food. My wife's was not cooked. She sent hers back and took home some cheese sticks instead. My order was overcooked and burnt I asked the waiter if the food was frozen as it was mushy. He told me it was a scratch kitchen and everything was fresh, well it was burnt and was just nasty. I expressed my concern to the manager. I thought he was going to take it off the bill. I got the check and when I saw the charge I asked the waiter why it wasn't off the bill. He got the manager. The response I got was, "this is the way the food is and you already ate some so I'm not taking it off the bill".He had a nasty unfriendly and unwilling to assist attitude. I used to love eating here. The food used to seem good and fresh and then it took a turn for the worst. The service is terrible. I think almost every waiter has seemed a little off in the head, like they couldn't process things correctly, or their brain constantly throws error messages when faced with any type of situation.... I think immature and unprofessional is the best way to describe them. Some of the waiters have no professional and service-based decorum. It didn't used to be like that though. There is usually always a wait especially on weekends. I think people really love this place because it's inexpensive and the portions are relatively large. But the quality of the food is reflected in the price. This stuff is definitely frozen, you can just tell, and not the good frozen because you know frozen food isn't all bad, but this is. It's a good place to take a group if you're the only one paying, but be prepared to wait and deal with weird waiters that just don't have it together. My experience at this location was awful! We arrived at the restaurant around 6:30pm on August 26th...it wasn't crowded at all. We waited at the front for at least 15 minutes while staff walked by, chit-chatting with each in the aisles, not even bothering to ask if we were waiting to be seated. Finally, I asked if anyone was working there today. An Asian American young man, who had walked by us twice already without saying a word, followed me to the front check in desk. He looked over the diagram and asked if we would like a booth, I said yes. He then says "well you can go sit over there" merely waving my mother and myself in the direction of the bar area, not bothering to seat is at our table. We get over there and there are at least 4 tables COVERED in disgusting, filthy dishes! This place is beyond gross! Needless to say, we didn't even sit down. We left immediately! The service is always great and the waiters seem to generally like working with customers. The food is great and comes at an affordable price. Probably the worst service overall I've ever had. Over 15 minutes to get our drinks from the bar. The tables near us both got their entrées before they even had glasses of water. Had to ask for silverware after our food came because we were never given any. Food came out without gravy even though we asked for it. We were offered plastic silverware because our server didn't want to go 10 extra steps to get regular silverware. Server never checked on us, never offered a second round of drinks. The boyfriend and I stopped in on our way out of town the afternoon preceding the new years festivities. We were sat right away in a quaint little booth and were immediately greeted by a sweet, cute girl named Ashlee. We had a short convo about the new years bash and then she took our appetizer and drink orders. She came back with drinks in record time. Jazmin needs help with her serving skills, she was not very attentive and kept leaving several dishes on our table even after we picked out our dessert. She ignored us multiple times, and towards the end of our dinner she neglected to bring the check which she had a hard time splitting, although it only takes several seconds to split a check. My sister and I paid cash for our ticket which we left under the receipt, so it would not get taken, shortly after we got use from our table she was chasing us out the door yelling "where is the money?" in the lobby you walk threw when you first come. This was very rude and unethical behavior, and I hope Jazmin learns better server etiquette the next time she has another table. Management needs to do a better job on running the floor during dinner shift, there were dirty tables sitting there for longer than five minutes, which is horrible for the guest who are trying to enjoy their dinner, which is hard to do in a dirty restaurant. read more

Fantastic restaurant! I had the baby back ribs and chicken tenders, and they were excellent. Juicy and cooked to perfection. My wife had the grilled tilapia and shrimp, and she loved it. I met the hubs for lunch yesterday on the recommendation of a coworker ,who said they were great AND affordable. Turns out she was spot on. We were seated immediately (lunch hour was just hiding its stride) and our waitress was at our table within minutes. I decided on the Grilled Chicken salad with Walnuts and the man ordered a spicy pasta dish. Our food was out super fast! I thoroughly enjoyed my salad and can vouch that the pasta dish was just as tasty. Our lunch meal only came to $20 and some change. I visited this restaurant for dinner last week with two girlfriends. I ordered the Hawaiian chicken sandwich with the broccoli and cheese casserole. Our food was served quickly and hot. Very disappointed in our service & the amount of time it took to receive food and drinks today at cheddars.. There were 8 of us, on a Monday....the restaurant was pretty dead- and plenty of staff working. This was our 2nd time dining here, we came last year for lunch the day after the race aNd had a great lunch. Not the case this year- our very forgetful server looked like she'd been partying the night before at the Coca Cola 600 (we looked pretty bad too!) and was just unfriendly, short, so unapologetic and not accommodating at all. One of us waited no lie 30 minutes on a bud light...because they had to "refill it." She didn't clear any dishes during our hour and a half lunch- when a drink refill finally came she couldn't be bothered to remove the used glass. My Monte Cristo was warm but damn good! First impression of this restaurant was: comfortable, casual. Our server was lovely. But this place is a hot mess. We were seated at 7:30 and waited 30 minutes for our cocktail order. I ate at Cheddars last night. The waiter was not overly friendly, didn't remember my lemons for my water, didn't remember the extra napkins. I ordered the Spasagna and and a side salad ($1.99 for the salad). The so called Spasagna was nothing more that macaroni and cheese with a little spaghetti sauce over it. It was not good at all. A pretty dry lump of food. The side salad was nothing but lettuce from a bag of lettuce, no olives, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc., just about two handfuls of lettuce for $1.99 I will say, however, I was with three other people and they seemed to enjoy their meals. Went to Cheddars for the first time on Mother's day. Boy was I surprised! The food was great and they have a great Margarita for only $3! I highly recommend the ribs and the chicken strips. Writing this one is conflicting... There's so much to love about Cheddar's, the value, decor, the out of this world cookie sundae (the sole reason I go back); and there's the bad stuff, spotty service and the noise is awful. I went for a quiet dinner with my husband. We were seated at a booth across from a booth of about 10 young teenagers. I had to lean in, raise my voice and ask my husband to repeat himself 3 or 4 times to hear anything. I'm known to be a bit hot headed and I tried multiple times to just glare my way to a "gosh maybe we're being a loud" but no. I searched for the adults; who was paying, how did these kids get here? I look over and at the adjacent table are a man, woman and child, both parents looking at their cell phones allowing this poor behavior and the kid looking bored as can be. (FYI, not sure how child friendly they are since they don't have crayons or anyway for children to entertain themselves, the 2 times my niece came we encountered this problem). When the clapping, yelling and singing got to a thunderous roar they even dimmed the lights to the whole restaurant at one point. It was no help. So after I ate which this also all took longer than it should because it was a bad service night, when one of the teens gave her rendition of a Beyonce song I clapped for her, loudly enough to interrupt the noise and my hands to sting. The tables stare at me and break into enormous laughter then talk about how crazy I am. I wait for the check and another customer several rows over tried to Shh's them, to which I say "that wasn't me, guess we're all funny" Check paid, our tip was "ask your patrons to be thoughtful of others." I've been back for the cookie and value but I ask for a table away from the noise, and they agree there isn't any. It's a serious problem. read more

I am writing my review on the new Cheddars in Gastonia NC. This place is impossible to get in most of the time. But it is worth it. We have had dinner as well as lunch on different occasions both were great. Yesterday we had late lunch, husband had mushroom burger and I had chicken tender basket, both were great and very big. Terrible , Terrible Service. A friend and I walked in during lunch to enjoy a quick good lunch with a drink. Only having an hour lunch break it took them 15 minutes to come and get our drink orders. While the lady was there we decided to go ahead and order since we had to be quick. Of course we ordered a drink while there. Lets just say...our food came out before the drinks. So...no water, no tea, nor alcoholic beverage was brought to our table before our food. The restaurant was not busy at all, so we were confused on why we were waiting so long. We finally got our water and tea, while waiting on the alcohol to come. So mid way during our lunch we decided to cancel the drink order and she was like it was already made and expected us to pay for it.
