This is a standby for me when grabbing a bite with family & friends. The menu gives plenty of options. Even the pickiest eaters I know can find something here. I have tried numerous items from the menu & haven't found anything that wasn't good. There is one odd item on the menu that combines pasta salad with regular salad...odd combo but tasted good! I'd just never seen pasta and lettuce mixed in together. I love the salads, buffalo chicken wrap, and the soups are always hot & delicious. The only complaint we have is the manager who is a woman who appears to be in her mid 50s. Her ability to deal with customer issues is ZERO! The Sexy Beast has long been a fan of this place for their lunch menu. It's inexpensive and includes a potato soup. So, I've allowed him to convince me to subject my palate to the underwhelming fare offered here a few times. We won't be doing that again. Here's why: We arrived between lunch and dinner (around 3pm) and were promptly seated by a surly hostess. We sat there staring at the bare table for a good fifteen minutes before our waiter (who may or may not have been Vanilla Ice) wandered over to get our drink order. Meanwhile, an elderly couple is seated at the table next to us. They are talking quietly together, discussing the menu. Another ten minutes later, Vanilla Ice returns with our carbonated beverages. He takes our order and scampers off. The couple next to us have arrived at a decision at this point and Sexy Beast and I both notice that they have no drinks, nor is anyone paying any attention to them. Some young man appears with our potato skins. They are cold. And tasteless. And I want to send them back. My glass becomes empty. Sexy Beast starts to fidget. I snag a fluttering young woman and ask for a refill and a status update. She assures me that she will "let him know". I assume she is referring to Vanilla Ice but I can't be sure. This is the bible belt and she may very well be heading to the alter to offer up a prayer for the speedy dispatching of my club sandwich. She took the cold potato skins with her to the alter. We wait. And wait. The elderly couple next to us begin getting more and more anxious, fussing and flustered with the complete absence of service. The fluttering girl attempts an evasive maneuver but I catch her. I start to explain that a club sandwich is supposed to be in my belly by now but I can't. Sexy Beast has lost all patience and has started ranting about the fact that the elderly couple next to us will be carried out on a funeral pyre if someone doesn't get them some sustenance soon. Fluttering Girl scampers off and a man who must be the manager of this ridiculously poorly managed menagerie appears to appease the angry Beast and the sweet old couple. Meanwhile, Vanilla Ice has returned from his tour in Bangladesh and appears at my side. I explained that he had exactly three minutes to produce a club sandwich before I'd be on my way out the door. Fluttering Girl ends up with the daunting task of serving the two most patient restaurant patrons I have ever seen. Gramps and Gramma looked like they might actually weep with joy at the prospect of gnawing on an unsalted saltine. And after all of that, finally, I get what they tried to pass off as a sandwich. It was not at all worth the effort. At no time, did anyone apologize for the wait or the cold skins or the fact that we had to witness the slow starvation of a pair of septuagenarians. VERY slow service!!! Servers are incompetent. Management is nonexistent. I've eaten here with family and had to wait over an hour to eat cold food! Server never checked in with us to refill drinks or advise us of any delays so I must assume that waiting for over an hour to be served is normal. My wife ate here with friends and could not get salads or bread or service then asked for a manager who only gave a lousy 10% off and blamed it on the server instead of taking responsibility. Good ole vegan/vegetarian hating Cheddar's (I don't think the people of Cheddar's hate vegan/vegetarians, just their menu). So I have not been in a Cheddar's since I became vegetarian because everything is dripping with animal juices. When I was a carnivore I loved Cheddar's artery clogging Chicken breast covered, smothered and chunked with cheese. I went back one time after I became vegetarian and they told me all they had was a side salad...at that time, so I never went back. Thinking that the menu had changed in 5 years, I decided to see what vegetarian/vegan options that added. Well, I was so happy to see they added steamed broccoli. Yehah!!!! I didn't want to cause a stir with my company so I didn't complain, I ordered the steamed broccoli, side salad with no cheese and a plain baked potato. When my plain meal was delivered it looked as appetizing as broccoli, side salad and plain baked potato could look but I was hungry and ate it. Honestly I believe the broccoli was assaulted by sticks of butter. Again, I didn't complain, I just ate it. Service was good. Would I go back to Cheddar's with these wonderful vegetarian/vegan additions to the menu....NO!!!!! Come up with a dish that is not slathered in animal droppings and I'll be back. No offense, I just don't want butter, bacon fat, and other artery-clogging oils on my food. Please and thank you. I happen to love Cheddar's. I hadn't been in quite sometime and my family and I were looking for a cheapish dine in place last night and passed this place and stopped in. Their meals are very generous in size, fresh tasting and is very easy on your wallet. I have been to at least 3 different locations and they've all been consistent with each other. Reading the other reviews, Cheddar's appears to be one of the most polarizing restaurants in the area. As it was with my lunch group. One guy really, really likes it and, after weeks of pleading, we acquiessed. Look, Cheddar's is fine. My experience wasn't horrible, but it wasn't memorable either. The food was OK. My club sandwich was a little oily, the fries were good and you got a sizable portion for a decent price. Service was decent. The environment was, well, it doesn't know what it wants to be with tropical fans, Mediterranean arches, lots of brickwork and enough foliage to dress up a tiger exhibit. TVs are in most of the rooms, so if you want to be distracted from talking to those you've chosen to dine with, there's your out. I'm not a fan. I will not be coming back anytime soon; not because it is bad, but because there are so many better spots. read more

So disappointed!!! My son and I typically love the chicken fingers at Cheddars! However when we visited on Tuesday, November 10; we were so disappointed.. We arrived a little before 8, a young man was our server, we had very simple orders and ordered right away (salads, soup, chicken fingers); nothing that takes much time. I received my soup, which was part of the meal (I ordered the veggie plate, broccoli casserole, green beans, and soup), the rest of the meal and my families did not come out for another 30-40mins.. Our server basically disappeared... We had no drinks, and when the food did come it was cold.. My husband loves their salads, they come with a honey drizzled croissant, however he did not receive his croissant. The waiter said they were not ready yet and he would bring it out when ready.. He then disappeared again.. We waited again just to receive our bill, after we paid the waiter brought 3 croissants. This dinner for a side salad, soup, and chicken fingers, took an hour and a half! It was my second time coming here for dinner. I didn't care for the first time both service and food at the time. I went there on Friday night with my husband and a toddler. We waited about 20 mins, we were watching the huge fish tank so it wasn't so bad even with a terrible two. As soon as seated, a waitress came by until we leave she made sure if food is ok or if we need anything else. She was taking care of other table with kids and she was great with kids, too! I can't remember our waitress' name but she was super nice & cute. It was hospital cold in the bar area. The chips & queso was surprisingly good. The cheese was yellow & I thought it was going to be nasty at first but it was good. I ordered Blackened White Fish w/mashed potatoes. The chef must have cooked my food 1st & put it under the heat lamp while he/she cooked the other orders at my table b/c my food was no where near hot when it came out. Thoroughly enjoyed Cheddar's Kitchen. The blackened salmon and shrimp were cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed my steam broccoli which is hard to get at restaurants because it's usually hard with little flavor. I was so surprised by how tender and flavorful there's was. I'm not giving 5 stars because their French fries were very underwhelming. On the menu they show a seasoned type of fry, but the ones we had didn't even salt really. It was a little too peppery and 1/4 of it was breading only, no meat. The mashed potatoes and gravy were good but the gravy wasn't plentiful enough. The green beans were sweet. What do they do; add sugar? Weird but not horrible. My mom's chicken pot pie, croissant and our cheese fries were the best parts of the meal. The margarita? We were stopping for lunch after a quick trip. The decoré was slightly off-putting but it makes sense being in a busy area and being a chain. The queso and chips are not anything amazing but we were starving and it was already 2pm. The chips were stale and the cheese was flavorless. I ordered the Chicken Tender Platter and it was actually very good for a chain. My date's salmon came out smelling very strong and not in a good way. He asked for the salmon to be blackened but I'm not sure the cooks knew how to cook salmon. However our waitress was a nice lady and wrote a smiley face on the receipt. Probably one of my favorite restaurants ever. I love the atmosphere here and the food is so good, I've not had a bad meal here (aside from the gross broccoli casserole... thing I tried once). Every time I come I get the spinach artichoke dip. My favorite. Also love the variety of food they have here. I would give it 4 stars however it's up to par with the more expensive restaurants so it gets an extra star. We rarely spend more than $30-$35 here and that's after two entrees, dessert, appetizers, and drinks. That would run you $50+ in most decent restaurants. read more

Mmmm very tasty. I was very pleased with cheddars. The interior was awesome. I love the big fans in the middle room. The service was great. The peach tea was sooooo good. But when our waitress brought a refill the syrup in the bottom wasn't mixed and I got a mouthful of it. The cheese and queso with chips is a must for an appetizer. The portions are big. We were seated promptly. Our waiter seems a little off, couldn't seem to understand and seemed a bit confused. I get that they say made from scratch but sheesh! It took forever for our food to come out. When it finally came out, my steak was Luke warm and I had to send it back to be re-prepared. Let's start with I couldn't put a 0 star review. Secondly I have not eaten at any Cheddars since my last visit here in 2010. We ate here twice that year and the first time was so so. We decided to give it another try for one of the girls birthdays. Big mistake. The server was completely incompetent. Got drink orders wrong, didn't check on refills etc. That was the good part of the experience. The order was steak and shrimp, 3 orders of ribs, and a buffalo chicken strips. My steak was overcooked twice(second time I just dealt with it). The steak and shrimp were bland. My daughters buffalo chicken was hard and so spicy hot she couldn't eat it. All 3 ribs were cooked well on the inside but the outside was so charred the bbq side peeled off like a piece of wood paneling. After complaints to the server then, i guess the manager, nothing more than an apology. When I arrived home I contacted cheddars home office via email to tell them about my experience and they sincerely apologized and offered me a chips and queso for my troubles. I spent over 85 dollars at their restaurant on inedible food and their answer was to offer me the cheapest thing on the menu. I was so put off by their attitude I have never and will never go back. I can usually count on Cheddar's. They food is good and they have something to please everyone. A variety of choices. Some of my favorites are the spinach dip, the asian shrimp salad, the Maui margarita, and the cookie monster. Put those together and that is one marvalous meal! Great for groups and for families. I can't believe the other review was so disappointed in Cheddar's when literally everyone I know thinks it's the greatest. Also, the crowd they always have attests to that fact. We don't eat there often because it's always crowded when we are needing to eat. We try to go on off hours to get in soon, and even then, it has plenty of customers. I think the food is really good for the price. Burgers are fantastic, huge, and cheap. The country fried steak is humongous, the chicken fingers are good and crispy and all the portions are so large only a big eater could eat it all. We've had a large variety of food there with many members of our family and friends and I've never heard any complaints. I consider it an A++++ type place. I have always had great waiters there who are courteous, quick and check on you often. I think they train them well and keep them. They don't pester you, but do their job. (I hate going to a restaurant where you are done with your meal before they bother to come back and see if you want anything! I won't go again if that's the case.) I have taken my son for late lunch. Parking - too narrow. If you have a big SUV and a mini van parked next to each other, someone might dent your vehicle. Bathroom - I was coming from a hospital and went there to wash my hands before sat down. There were a piece of paper towel in the sink. I am not sure how often they clean it but that's not good. Server - When I came back from bathroom, I asked my son if the waiter came by. Answer was no. And waited for a couple more minutes after that. Seating - - Needs a tall divider between the booth for two reasons. Whomever sat behind me's arm touched me more than one occasion. That was annoying. And the family sat behind us was loud and annoying. Who wants to hear annoying little child or annoying loud adult for that matter? Divider is necessary to block a stranger from touching you and suppressing the noise. - The size of the booth is adequate, if they have a big family/a group which do not fit in the booth, they need to divide. Don't they know that it was a code violation to put a chair on the walkway? Service - It was ok. Nothing extra ordinary. What bothered me was the waiter did not bring back the exact change. That's like dishonest to me so I only tipped him $3.00. Food was not all that great. Spinach dip tasted like diluted defrosted spinach dip. Chicken and waffles were terrible. Someone forgot to put butter on it. Baked spaghetti, my son let me taste it and ummm too plain. And they did not offer any Parmesan cheese. Takeout box - don't be stingy on the to go box. Well..... gotta say we were a bit disappointed. We LOVE LOVE LOVE Cheddar's normally but tonight was not so good. We got seated quite quickly but our server, Montana, was very slow in getting or drink order and she really didn't check on us throughout the meal. Decided to check out this places Mac N Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. As a Mac N Cheese/potato connoisseur, I was delightfully surprised by both. I wish I could order a bigger serving of Mac N Cheese but the largest they had was from the kids menu. I digress. The real star in the sky, for me, was their NAPKIN! Holy fuck! I'm a tactile person and this napkin is LEGIT! It felt amazing to touch AND I'm sure could soak up "The Swamp" that Trump promise to clean up. Let me make this clear: I didn't use the napkin for anything! So who knows how absorbent it really is. The Belle of Louisville stared me in the face all night. After an hour I realized I could be floating in the Ohio River just like the random body parts that wash up. Cheddar's has some pretty good menu options, but the service is always hit and miss. Sometimes you won't see your waiter at all and sometimes they will talk you to death...I've never had a happy medium. But I keep going back, so I guess I really do like the food... As far as appetizers, the onions rings at Cheddar's are really stellar. The breading is light and they come with a ranch and zesty dipping sauce. The portion is HUGE. I also enjoy the chips and queso. The salsa is sweet and chunky and the queso is creamy with flecks of red and green pepper. I usually get the chicken tenders basket. They have some of the best chicken tenders I've ever had. Really tender and the breading is very tasty. I also like the lunch potion of catfish. I've also had the soup and salad lunch special with the potato soup. The potato soup is tasty--creamy and cheesy--comparable to O'Charley's. Cheddar's is a favorite standby if we are getting ready to head home from a day of shopping on the Clarksville strip with the last stop being Walmart or Target. They were out of many items (prior to the dinner rush mind you) We had our food served lukewarm and the mac and cheese doesn't seem to have cheese in it. If it was cheese, we couldn't tell. Server apparently didn't mind making us wait 20 minutes for us to get our check, and then another 20 minutes to pick up the payment. If you have nothing to do and have a lot of time to spend then Cheddar's in Clarksville is for you. Otherwise steer clear. read more
