Let's start with Selina the waitress. She was absolutely on it! Took care of me the entire time I was there and was incredibly helpful in making choices. It was lunch time and the place wasn't super busy but the atmosphere was perfect. AND THEN the food! I had a three meat lunch special and it was delicious. Brisket, rib tips, and chopped pork with a side of baked beans and it comes with a sweet corn muffin that is like the icing on a cake after all that savory protein. I've been going to this location since I was a kid. It's changed a lot, but if you love the brand you're getting really good bbq here. Prices are a little high since the pre covid era, but their St. Louis Ribs are some of the best around. Their take on a Long Island Iced tea as well is my favorite anywhere! The servers and bartenders here are top notch, amazing people; shoutout to the cooks for all of their hard work as well. We have been going to Famous Dave's restaurant in Louisville, KY, on Hurstbourne Parkway for over 18 years. The last 3 times that we ate at the restaurant, there was no one else eating in there at that time. We mostly go at lunchtime on Mondays. My complaint is that there is no one in there eating, and we asked the manager to turn down the LOUD MUSIC. It is overwhelming. All 3 times in the last six weeks, we've asked the manager to turn down the music, and he has refused to turn down the music. It doesn't make sense that we're the only ones eating in there, and the manager won't turn down the loud music while we're eating. We hope that they get a new manager so we can eat in there without wearing earplugs. If there is a Famous Dave's upper manager who reads this review, we sure would like to know when it is okay to eat there again. read more

Disappointing Experience Today I bought takeout from Famous Dave's to treat my sister while visiting her for Christmas. She was really looking forward to their rib dinner. I'm from Northern Virginia, and Famous Dave's is usually one of my favorite places to eat, so I expected the same quality. I ordered our meals from the Louisville, KY location. The staff was very nice and polite when taking my order, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food itself was extremely disappointing. It did not taste like Famous Dave's at all. The ribs, chicken, and mac and cheese were all very bad and lacked the flavor and quality I'm used to. This was not the experience I was hoping for, especially for a special holiday visit. read more

I hate to write this but folks should know. I've been coming here for years. Always enjoyed sitting at the bar and shoot the breeze with Zack and Billy while munching on some ribs. But in the last couple years this place has gone into a slow downward spiral. The bar doesn't restock regularly, the food has become very inconsistent, surfaces are dirty, and management doesn't seem to give a damn what happens in the building. I've been at the bar and been completely ignored by staff who, when they do look up from their phones, don't even acknowledge your presence. Unless the owner/corporation comes in to straighten things up, I could easily see this place shuttering in the next year. read more

It's been years since our last visit! Our family of 4 came for dinner and enjoyed a nice meal together. Our choice was the Feast for Two, which feeds 2-3 people. We added a cheeseburger kids meal for our youngest. Plenty of food for our crew. The Feast for Two offered short ribs, chicken, pulled pork and brisket. I'm typically a pulled pork girl but also enjoyed the ribs. The standard sides are fries, cole slaw, corn on the cob and baked beans; however, we were able to switch a side for mac n cheese. The best part was the sweet cornbread rolls. Also, no complaints about the kids meal. No leftovers. The team was very friendly and took care of each other. Because of the crowd versus staff it took a few minutes to be greeted, so another server helped us and his teammate. They took good care of us, refilling drinks and snagging us extra cornbread rolls. Paper menus are used and calories are listed for each dish. My kiddo mentioned how nice the men's restroom was, but ironically the women's was fairly disheveled - broken door, toilet paper everywhere, wonky faucets and thick dust on the ceiling vents. Bbq joint located in Louisville off of hurstbourne lane. Easy to miss as its kinda hidden behind other buildings. I always look for the movies the theatre's and no it's on the other side of the road somewhere. Famous Dave's is one of my favorite bbq places in all of the Louisville area. Easy cracks the top 3. I've been to this location several times over the last 10-15 years. The pulled pork sandwich is my go to meal at this establishment. But I'm a creature or habit and very rarely switch my food choices up. The whole menu from what I've sampled off my families plates over the years is great. They always have kinda and nice servers and they are really good for hosting large parties as they do not get overwhelmed. Had to pull on the stars after my experience today. Ordered through their website like I had before. I happened to look outside and my food was on the ground swarmed with flies. I called and let them know what had happened and they asked if I could bring it. I told them that I don't live that close and that's why I ordered for delivery. I asked could they just resend the order and I will give the driver the food back. I was told that I would have to do it from my end because it was probably Door Dash that delivered. I asked what time do they close he stated 9pm. I said, okay, I will drop off the food and just get my money back. I was told okay and ask for Billy we will take care of you. When I get there, I explained again to the manager what happened and that I would like my money back (specially after seeing all those flies in my food, I lost all my appetite). The manager said they don't do refunds that I would have to go through door dash. I told them that I didn't order through door dash, that I ordered directly from their site and that I didn't drive all the way up there for them to tell me that. We kept going back and forth then all the sudden he starts screaming, telling me that i am yelling at him, smashes the bag of food on the counter and demanded that I get out. I did not move, I told him I wanted my money back. He eventually refunded me the money through door dash. That man does not need to be working with customers. He lacks patience, he kept talking over me when I was trying to explain the conversation that I had over the phone, he smashed and snatched the bag of food on the counter like a child throwing a tantrum. He was extremely aggressive like he was trying to intimidate me so that I would leave. The behavior was very strange coming from a manager of a restaurant. I can expect that from a teenager maybe, but this was a grown man screaming at the top of his lung at a female, which got him absolutely nowhere. A manager is supposed to listen and try to work a solution to accommodate. Not try to make things worse. I had to tell him to calm down a few times and let me talk. Which he did not. I just wanted my money for a service that I was not happy with. And the bag on the ground was not their fault, what is their fault is them having that manager on the floor. He needs to take some anger management classes and learn how to deal with customers, even the ones he considers to be difficult ones. I did record everything for my safety because of his behavior. He even had one of the kids come out and get my tags as I was driving off while he hid inside the building. I could see him inside leaning up against the wall. Don't worry I won't be back. There's too many other BBQ places that know how to treat their customers. But I will be reporting to the BBB and the corporate office. You screaming at the top of your lungs got you absolutely nowhere. Look at the camera you'll have that was directly on top of us in your establishment. Our long table was fairly close back to the wall so our way had to kind of work his way through the space. More space would have been better. I seem to be on a bit of a barbecue binge lately, and that is OK with me. Our most recent visit was on a Friday. We expected the place to be packed (re: Friday at a restaurant on Hurstbourne), but we were seated immediately in the bar area. Just as we were about to give up (about 10 minutes) we were finally greeted by our server. By then we knew what we wanted. I came here expecting to get the amazingly awesome Jalapeño Cheddar Smoked Sausage. I had it the last two or three times we were here, but I was saddened (and almost cried) when I was told that they were no longer available. :( :( :( *However*, then I noticed the smoked ribeye. I thought to myself "A smoked ribeye? I wonder..." ......and I wondered..... And then I asked our server. He said they are limited to Friday and Saturday nights only, and when they run out, that's it for that weekend. I was intrigued, so I figured "What the heck?". All I can say about that steak was: HOLY COW (no pun intended). I've never had a smoked steak before, at least not like this, and it was amazeballz. The smoky flavor carried throughout, the edges were slightly burnt (giving the the steak a lot of character), and it was WAAAY tender. So..there went any apprehension or misgivings I had about ordering this item because it more than made up for the no-longer-on-the-menu Jalapeño Cheddar Smoked Sausage (which I still weep for). I was told by another server that the ribeye they use for this steak is smoked for several hours, then cut into the serving size. Whatever magic they do, I'm on board. It really was a steak worth writing home about. Famous Dave's is, if nothing else, reliable. If you're looking for a menu with a huge amount of variety and reasonably priced, this is definitely a good place to go. I wish I could grade in 1/2 grade increments because I'm still going to hold them to the 10 minute wait time before we were greeted, so this is actually 4.5. read more

We had a carryout order delivered by Door dash. My complaint is with the restaurant . We ordered the smaller feast ( 1/2 chicken, 6 St. Louis ribs and pulled pork) . There was barely a cup of pulled pork. It was sitting on the Texas toast, which made the toast wet and mushy. Everything tasted bad. The fries tasted like grease, the chicken had a rancid taste, the ribs and pork were bland as were the beans and slaw. The corn was soggy. So Famous Dave's. I thought I had reviewed this months ago but realized with my last visit I had not. So a few months about, the Jear (my husband) and I wandered into Daves. We had not been there is years. Still I don't know what took us so long to get back. On this visit, they had JUST that day rolled out their Ribeye steak. Wahhh? Ribeye in a BBQ joint? Yes!! It's wood roasted in a fire pit (I think that's how you describe it) then when getting ready to be served, it's grilled. I always order my steaks Med Rare. My god! Order it! Hands down it is the best steak in this town and I've eaten Ribeyes everywhere. I cat it up before taking the first pick just so you can see the quality of which it was cooked. I promise, if you like Ribeyes, you will not be disappointed. Note: only served on Friday and Saturday and while supplies last. Now this week, we went back. Yes again, the Jear and I. That is the last picture. Although on a Friday, it was just 11:30 so steak were not ready (bummer!), but I got the Buttz Ends (which where in a raspberry bbq sauce and topped with candied peppers. Famous Daves smoked meats taste great and they an excellent job smoking them. The Fried pickles were very nice and their mac and is one of a kind. It jalapeño's in it! So this is yet another place that had lowered the standards since the pandemic. Service was terrible and the food was not up to par. Big disappointment and will probably not go back any time soon. Also men's restrooms was very bad and not cleaned in a while. Also they reduced the wings from 12 to 10 and still the same price as the 12. They do not give you the option for pegs or flats and you don't even get even amounts of each, which is a huge disappointment. I got the ribs and Georgia chopped pork, it was good but I wish it would have came with 2 pieces of toast and on the side so the bread didn't get soggy. The meat was very good though. The cornbread muffin is to die for. The service was very nice. Not too much and not neglectful. He made sure we had everything we needed. I love the atmosphere.
