When we went to try it we sat at our booth for 20 minutes and watched people get seated and served before we even had an employee look in our direction. Basically there was a NASTY smell of rotten beer and fetid alcohol in the bar, the service was non-existent, fingers were in our food as it was served, my plate was mashed potatoes served on top of a pile of grease (supposed to be shepherd's pie), and the manager was arrogant and could have cared less. Don't let all of the negatives deter you from trying this place. The prices were great, the food was very good (get the onion ring app to share!), the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. There is one small area near the bar, on the way to the restrooms, that smells...like a bar - we think it is a vent issue. Our servers were attentive and the restaurant was busy. read more

Wow, dont go here if you are gluten free. Our server was so inattentive, so I made sure to stress GLUTEN FREE. Please tell them so we dont get sick, he assured us and treated me like I was stupid for questioning. I explained gluten free, no bread no croutons. Then everything came out with bread on the plate. Really? Do you know what gluten free means? You should. Your restaurant offers it, you said I didnt need to talk to anyone specifically to ensure we could eat safe. Cheddars is a good restaurant. Don't have any of them where I live. Used to be a constant place during college. 2 adults, 2 kids get dinners and drinks and all for less than $40. Value is there and portion size was there. Good food and decent service. Usually try to stay away from chains when traveling but don't see these often. read more

I was excited to see a Cheddars open in Erie. I had gone to one while stationed in TX. I was a little disappointed. I had ordered the Shepards Pie. They had run out of mashed potatoes and failed to let the wait staff know. Luckily my server noticed as the delivery was made. The manager came over and said I could order something else and my dinner would be free. I have to say they did make it right before I could even say anything. It was not a totally bad experience since they comped my dinner, but it was just average food quality. Beautiful atmosphere, great food prices, great drinks, the food is okay and thewaiter was not the best at all. I had the Asian salad. It was served with a ginger dressing but, it was sweet with no ginger taste at all. The portion was good size but the chicken and shrimp would have been better warm. My husband had the Philly and it was good but needed sauce. The waiter only stopped once. He was nice but, a fake nice. I think it's the age. Like other "recent" reviews I found the Cheddars dining experience to be just fine. While visting family for the holidays we were looking for someplace warm and quick. I was concerned having read previous reviews of Erie's Cheddars. However, It was great. We were met at the door by friendly hosts, waited less time for a table than we were told and enjoyed a nice meal to boot. Around $50 for 4 of us including a shared appetizer. Not bad. Give this chain restaurant a chance. It looks like they may have had a tough open but, in this reviewers opinion, they've worked out the kinks. read more

Was very surprised the ratings were not more favorable. This chain used to be in Columbus, Ohio years ago & I certainly miss it. One of my favorite chain restaurants in town. Truly cheddars does have a scratch kitchen. I would recommend their chicken fingers which are not fingers but a thick breast well coated with tempura. They offer cottage cheese french fries or coleslaw. Their homemade soups are excellent with great quality love the loaded potato. read more

We decided to try Cheddar's despite the poor reviews. Since its new the decor is nice and gives an upscale feel. Host and wait staff we very friendly and responsive. This was at 9pm so I can't say how fast they are for lunch or dinner rush. The food was just OK. The grilled tilapia and mango was prepared well and tasted good. The chicken and waffles were mediocre but everything is priced so low it's hard to complain. I would come back and probably try the cocktails next time. I wouldn't come back for the food. read more

We usually stay away from chain restaurants, but it was Sunday, and choices in Erie at 5:00P.M are limited. We were seated promptly and greeted by Zach quickly, who answered questions accurately and pleasantly. My wife's drink was slow in coming while my coke was delivered first. Service overall was slow. We waited 15 more minutes for my wife's drink before it finally arrived. The food, chicken fingers and chicken fried steak, finally arrived after another 15 minutes. Their motto is made from scratch, so I guess that you have to be patient. We both agreed that our dishes were good and that we liked them. So, we'll probably be back sometime. The prices were reasonable. The bathroom hall and floors needed attention as paper was scattered around. Also the floorsin the restaurant neede some cleaning. That was surprising. We expected a cleaner environment. It seemed like a lot of kids were around, but that is not an excuse. read more

Food was absolutely amazing.... however the service... not so much. I went in with my mom and some friends and we sat at a booth in the bar area. Our server, Joshua, was rushing around so much that when it came time to order he barely let us get our words out. When I asked for him to bring us chips and queso to start out, he said yep and ran away. Came back, to take our order and when we explained how the checks were going to be split up, he basically blew me off and said it didn't matter because it was a table of 4, said very rudely. He took our orders and ran away again. He messed up a side order, probably because he wasn't paying attention. He never took any dishes away EVER. We still had our appetizer plate sitting on the table when we were done. Drinks were never refilled once and they were empty by mid-meal. When I asked to get dessert to go, he gave me a nasty look and sighed, and once again, ran away. He spilled a bottle of vodka on the floor at one point because he was rushing around so much. He never once asked if we needed anything throughout our stay. In the end, maybe you shouldn't be a bar tender and take tables on a busy night. Or at least Joshua shouldn't because it seemed like he couldn't handle it. read more

The food was ok. The waiter was horrible. Forgot our drink order, forgot the shrimp on the combo plate the salmon was cold and gelatinous u dear cooked, called my wife a guy, "hi guys!" Told us the reason for his bad service was because he had a bad day. We had to ask to have the table cleaned, it was filthy even after the bus boy cleaned it. The owners should think about using polyurethane on the raw wood table tops. Needless to say, we won't be back to this location! read more

The service sucked... the bartender helped out with orders more then my waiter. My waiter barely come around took him over 20 mins to even take my order. The decor is elegant, and the service doesn't get really any better. They don't check on you too often trying to act like they care to get a tip, but they don't really ditch you if they are really busy. Also, props to the best raspberry tea I ever had. I got the Buffalo Chicken Wrapper, which is four great wraps that own up to the name, and are my favorite place to get wrap for real. When the food finally came me and some of my family thought that some of the food was not filling and that we did not get enough food.
