Me and my girlfriend went here and it was the worst experience I've had a restaurant. We were seated and the bill and etc. Was still sitting on the table. We waited at least 15 to 20 minutes for our waitress to introduce and ask for drinks by that time we knew what we wanted to eat. We finally got our food after a unreasonable amount of time and out food was cold to the touch not even Tommy temp warm and the chicken I couldn't even tear apart easily. We talk to a manager and he says it's on him, and he'll take care of it 5 minutes later we get our same exact food but just microwaved. We've been here 4 times and the food is always very good and the prices are very reasonable. On a couple visits we had some "service" problems - our ticket was lost causing us to wait ~45 minutes between appetizer and entree. Regardless, will probably return. read more

I wondered why the parking lot was empty when every other place in town was bumping. Now I know. Our waitress was a frazzled mess and only had two tables. No one knew what section was theirs. She told us she could put a lime in a diet coke and that there was no GF menu- both lies. Got the chips and queso and she argued that it didn't come with salsa. Waited FOREVER for food. And when it got there the steak was on a bed of onion straws--- not gluten free. Chicken tenders had come without honey mustard and that took 30 minutes to come. The refire of the steak took an additional 20 minutes and the manager never came. Waitress was nice but overly friendly to the point of practically climbing in the booth with us. The 1 star is for the ambience of the restaurant. Other than that, the menu sucks, the food sucks, the staff are sub par, and the timing of getting drinks, appetizers, entrees, etc... is awful. read more

The croissants are incredible. Unfortunately, the service is slow and the servers forget quite a lot of things. The menu touts "fall apart beef roast." The beef is, but the vegetables that go along with it are too large and you need a knife to cut them. That kind of offsets the tender beef. In addition, though the menu states carrots, onions, and celery are part of the dish, I did not see carrots on my plate and only had two slices of celery. Not sure I'll be back. read more

After waiting almost an hour for lunch on the way from Ohio to NY. our server sheepishly brings out one of two entrees and tells us she dropped the other on the way to the table. The one she brought was cold in the middle. So we tell her we can't wait any longer and to bring the one being redone to go. after another 15 minutes (for a quesadilla, how long could that take?) we ask to see then manager. To their credit they said no charge for the meal (why they get 2 instead of 1 star), but we had to ask someone clearing the table next to us for the takeout box. This place isn't too bad. The prices are pretty decent and the environment is nice. The hostess and servers could have been more friendly though, and I found it kind of hard to find something I would like off the menu. Maybe I'm picky, I don't know. Great food, friendly staff, only complaint there was a mixup with my husband's dinner causing it to arrive late. Overall very pleased with the prices. Less than $35 for a family of 4. You could tell everything was fresh and wasn't processed food. I liked the decor and really liked the ceiling fan, it was something I had not seen before. We always make a point of going to Cheddars, and usually have good food. This past Wednesday there were only maybe six people at tables, but yet our food took a very long time to arrive. The waitress was talking to people at another table, and I kept telling my husband I bet the food is ready and just sitting in the kitchen. Our chicken tender platters arrived, chicken was room temperature and fries were cold and greasy. My husband didn't want to complain, but couldn't eat the fries. When we were ready to leave I felt it necessary to tell the waitress about the cold food, she offered to give us an appetizer to take home, but we didn't want to wait again. We have visited The Cheddars Scratch Kitchen in Erie several times in the past and were very satisfied. We were there a week ago, April 27, and were very dissatisfied. The service, food and wait time was unsatisfactory! There MUST be a new set of employees from the chef to the wait staff. Friends were there a couple days later and had the same experience. Disgusting Absolutely disgusting. So, I'm visiting my brother and his wife in Erie with my parents. We decide to go here. We've been here multiple times. The service and food was great before, so we expected it to be great again. It was a busy friday night and we were told that the wait would be 20 minutes. So we ended up waiting double that. Multiple groups came while we waited and all of them were seated. So we complained that we've been here for awhile and still nothing. So we were told that a table was being cleaned for us. Okay great! Another group comes and they end up getting seated at our table that was promised to us. We complained again. One of the three hostesses told us (who were much more concerned about their conversation than their customers), with a very bitchy attitude if I might add, that wasn't our table. We were potentially paying customers you don't treat us like shit. No apologies whatsoever; normally most places apologize for the wait. We walked out and we will never be walking back in there. I really wish I could give this place a rating of zero, and even more so after some of the bad stories I've heard about this place. read more

Went today for the first time with my wife. It was lunch time on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all. There were signs on the door explaining that certain menu items were not being served today. After reviewing what was off the menu, we proceeded inside. The hostess reminded us very rudely that certain menu items weren't available. We were fine with that and got a table. Things happen, I get that. My complaints have nothing to do with the limited menu today. Our server had the same attitude as the hostess. No smile, no greeting, barely spoke to us, not friendly at all. All of our drinks, appetizers, and food arrived within a very reasonable amount of time. We had to ask for plates for our appetizer, the waitress brought them without saying a word. When our food arrived, we asked for extra napkins. The waitress acknowledged us, left, and never returned until it was time for the check. She never came back to ask about our meal, offer refills, or bring our napkins. We each ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich. It wasn't very good. Very greasy and the batter they used made the bread very soggy. The French fries were okay, but a little overcooked. My wife went up to the bar to ask for extra napkins since our server forgot about us. The bartender shrug his shoulders and handed her a stack of napkins without saying a word or looking her in the eye. That's 3 for 3 for employees we encountered with zero personality or enthusiasm if you're keeping score. The way the staff carried themselves made the whole experience gloomy. We felt very unwelcome. I've been to funerals with better atmosphere. Not once were we asked "how is everything?", "can I get you anything else", or "thanks for coming". I feel the food would have been good if it was prepared properly. With all the places to have lunch when visiting Erie, it's unfortunate we chose this one. Even if the food was fantastic, the rest of the experience would've ruined the meal. read more

4 th and last trip! I have been to other Cheddars and had 5 star service time after time. I dont know what is going on here but thier corprate management needs to step in and fix everything. I hoped the service would get better with time but sadly it is getting worse. I ordered a mid rare ribeye and got a well sirloin the waitress was like oh I grabbed wrong plate came back with steak and ribs still not what I ordered. She tried one more time ang got the ribeye nut at this point it was well and dry. I ate it anyways and the chicken tenders my wife ordered were all stuck together like a pile of trash. Was in restroom there was no paper towels and there happened to be a employee by restroom door so I mentioned it to him and says its probaly out because the cleaning crew didnt change them in the morning. I wanted to tell him its a roll of paper towels you change them when they run out duh. Thtis place has more excuses than a grade school. I watched the poor manager walk around and apologize to a bunch of people including myself that has to be very depressing. There are probaly 20 restraunts within 1/4 mile of there try one of them. read more

Wed night my daughter stepped on and slipped into the grease trap on the sidewalk outside of cheddars in Erie. The manager said they had the trap cleaned earlier that day and the lid wasn't put back on right. She claimed someone from the risk management team would call me. No one has ever called. They could not care less that my daughter is injured and limping around from their mistake. I would never recommend this place to anyone read more

Now I don't know why people are giving such low reviews for this place. The service was phenomenal, I think our waiters name was Greg. He brought over the food and it was perfect. Seasoning was spot on, on my catfish, and was cooked to perfection. And at the end Greg brought over a box for our left overs, a to go cup for my drink, and two mini boxes for our sides. I don't know why this place isn't packed every night. We went on a Saturday night for a later dinner (around 9:00 pm) and there was no wait at all. The restaurant is beautiful inside, very clean and modern. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We ordered an appetizer, their version of spinach dip (I highly recommend it), and our waiter offered to bring us more chips when we ran out! Both of our steaks were cooked perfectly, and almost every entree comes with two side dishes. The prices were extremely fair compared to other restaurants, especially for the quality. We will definitely be coming back every time we come to Erie! read more

Hostess didn't leave us silverware when seating us and the food was overpriced for what it was. Very basic dishes and very bland. Would not recommend eating here! We went here and it looks nice walking in but all the food that we had was cold. The stakes we got were so uncooked they weren't edible. They cooked them again for us but they came back and still tasted bad. Three things we ordered came partly wrong and all five of us went home with stomach aches. 6/27/20012 I had heard a few positive and alot of negative comments from friends about Cheddars, but I always try a place at least once. The server was very friendly and had our drinks to the table within a few minutes. The Monte Cristo sandwich I ordered was AMAZING and the fries were some of the best I have had @ a chain restaurant. I also tried some of the shepard pie which my mother had ordered and would say it was above average but nothing special. Overall the food was served in a timely manner and the decor inside is unique with the fish tanks and fans, very spacious and comfortable. It seems like they have worked out alot of the problems I had heard about from friends. I'll be back for sure. read more

This place is great! I was travelling through Erie with a university student group, and Cheddar's could not have been more accommodating. They set us up with our own room and provided numerous servers to tend to the needs of the group. The menu has something for everyone and is incredibly reasonable, and the food is very high-quality. It is not an exaggeration to say that you would expect to pay double for the same food at similar chain restaurants. If you are looking for a great option for a large group or even a small family dinner, don't pass over Cheddar's. First class! read more

We have been coming here at least monthly since it opened. I usually come on a Friday evening when it's busy, and always got seated without waiting. Service was outstanding. Any problems were taken care of promptly. We haven't had one yet. Drinks were out in just over two minutes. My wife gets the salad always the way she wants it and I usually get the ribs which are great. If you are looking for complaints on the ribs, my suggestion would be to order only the half rack as there is so much meat on them that the other rack will be cool when you are ready for it..
