My family wanted a place to sit together and enjoy lunch together, so we stopped at Cheddar's since we were over this way. Nothing went wrong, but it wasn't quite 5 star quality this time around. We were seated by the bar and the server seemed to be the only one working this whole section. He did a great job keeping up, but he was definitely swamped. We didn't get offered a refill until we were getting full, but again, our server was swamped. I ordered the Cajun chicken bowl, which was good, and a side Caesar salad. I tasted my daughter's potato soup, YUM. And my husband ordered the Spasagna, it tasted kind of weird (maybe the Alfredo sauce wasn't fresh?) to me but he liked it. Not a bad visit! read more

Cheddar's... what happened? This place has completely gone downhill, and honestly, I'm shocked it's still in business. The last time we went, we were seated in a booth in the bar area. Our waitress took our order and then vanished. We had to flag down another employee just to get water, and she gave us attitude for even asking. Meanwhile, another waitress was sitting nearby with another rolling silverware loudly talking about how drunk she gets all the time... super unprofessional. We finally saw our original waitress again right before we left. By the way, she didn't even apologize for never bringing us any refills or checking on us. I'd like to also point out: after the one time that the other waitress brought us water, I actually ended up having to pull my water bottle out of my bag after that other water was gone just so I wouldn't go thirsty the entire time we were there. The food was just as disappointing. I ordered the Monte Cristo, which used to be my favorite, and it was awful. It tasted like it had been fried in old, overused oil, and it was so wet and greasy that it seemed like the fryer wasn't even hot enough. The whole vibe of the restaurant felt like a shell of what it used to be...like the place is hanging on by a thread. Sadly, we won't be stepping foot in there again. read more

Terrible terrible service!! We went for a late lunch around 2:30 so it was not busy at all. We were seated immediately but we had to sit at our table for like 10 minutes before we saw our server. Then he dropped off straws, still didn't take our drink order and cleared the table next to us. Then he came back several minutes later and brought us croissants with NO plates. And walked away... still had not taken our drink order at this point. Then got a Togo box for another table and then finally came back and took our drink order. We placed our food order with our drinks and then after our drinks were empty for a long time we were ready to leave. The tablet on the table was not working so we could not pay out that way. I had to walk throughout the restaurant to find someone to ask for a manager. Someone finally came to our table who looked like kitchen staff and said he was a manager.... I explained the situation and never once did he apologize or offer any form of customer service. Do not go here!!! I got the shrimp Alfredo pasta, the shrimp was good and seasoned but the past tasted like water downed Alfredo, and my Dr Pepper tasted like it didn't have any carbonation and I got a sweet tea instead and it wasn't even sweet. Ava was an amazing Server, Nick was a great greeter, we were checked on by management to make sure every thing was going well, the food was really good. Ava went out of her way to make my son's birthday awesome! I loved the Christmas music playing. Before explaining further I have been at this location plenty in the past and never had to deal with this leak of professionalism. Last Friday 1/23 attempting to grab something near by due to the winter storm and choose this location. We were greeted immediately by two hostesses and requested to sit at a high top in the bar area. While seating there were a number of customers sitting at the bar with food screaming for cutlery, while 6 staff members stood in the bar area huddled together on their phones, none of which moved to help the people at the bar. We sat for 10 minutes without being greeted or acknowledged. When I said excuse me to the employees standing near the bar and the to-go area they all looked up from their phones and went back to whatever they were doing without saying a WORD. Frustrated by the lack of customer service I walked to the front of the restaurant to find the manager ( not sure of her name short female working that night) who was also huddled with employees laughing on their phones. When asked if we would be served, as we weren't acknowledged, I was told that they do not acknowledge you by speaking, but they acknowledge you by bringing out croissants and the guy running the bar had just left to go get them. This was completely false as not a single person had moved from the bar area and 2 employees were now sitting at the bar on their phones. I grabbed my family and left telling the manager that this was not acceptable all while being laughed at and mocked by the manger and her staff at the door. Cheddars management has cameras and if you look around 8-30ish you will see that what I am saying word for word is accurate. read more

FYI-coming in when they just open maybe a surprise because they were cleaning everything when we came in. This is our 1st time to this Cheddar's. We were sat just short after opening as the hostess was polite and let us know about the cleaning situation before she could seat us. Nick, our server was super polite and apologetic about us having to wait. He also let us know that the kitchen was still getting ready for lunch but offered us Cheddars delicious croissants. Welcome to "Chewy's"! Friendly, The Texas Way. The rest of the experience was dry. Very slow to seat us on a weekend, early evening in 1/3 full restaurant. I feel bad for the operations team who I suspect can find the help to service a full house so we waited 20min for a table. Luckily the bar was empty so we could sip on a swirl. As we begin to order it's announced they're out of baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, and one other side we were not interested in. As mentioned this is a mid week, early evening experience, not late on a Sunday night. Out of spuds? That's a staple. Out come the free round of Honey Butter Croissants. I appreciate them being free since I would not pay for them. Very sticky and sweet as the name implies but not the flaky pastry I was hoping for. More chewy and dry. I did not finish mine. I ordered the Country Fried Chicken with broccoli rice casserole and corn off the cob. Similar to the croissant, the chicken was chewy and dry. Perhaps that a better name for Cheddar's. Chewy's". The fried was heavy, crunchy, and thick. I mostly picked it off and as you might see the trend, it was dry and I did not finish it. How about the broccoli cheese casserole? Yep...dry. The corn was moist and still sitting in liquid so it had no choice. Was my meal fired too early and all of it sat under a heat lamp, zapping the moisture from all it illuminated? Service was terrible, food was warm, ordered a soup which I never got, and towards the end of the meal, was finally asked if we would like any refills. Do not patronize this shabbily run restaurant. They can't seem to bring everyone's food at the same time and make 1or 2 people in a party of 5 have to wait so long that people at the table are finished eating before the remaining food arrives. I'm stretching to 3 stars here. We got off to a great start with some cheese bites with the complimentary croissants that go well with water, which arrived 10 minutes after requesting. We ordered the main course Diana had chicken & Shrimp with veggies, I went with the Monte Cristo as I was craving some raspberry preserve/jam. We enjoyed a Margarita & old fashion during our wait, which was quite a challenge as I only have 1 drink before dinner, and if it hits the spot, another midway Through. Needless to say, it was a 1 drink night. Diana's chicken was dry. Shrimp was just ok. She did enjoy her Margarita and my fries she did compliment the carrots and picked at the corn. I had high hopes for the Monte Cristo but was so disappointed it just didn't look right, especially the raspberry preserve some kind of watered-down disaster, I mean it should be illegal or unethical to do this to any preserve.They cut it in 4 pieces 3 are still sitting in the take home box on the positive side the drinks were ok and the fries were good. Summary: This place was saddening. For starters, I got the Country Fried Chicken. The gravy was too salty, the canned beans were depressing, and the alleged "fully-loaded baked potato" was a joke. See picture. My family members ordered the porkchop dish, the New Orleans Pasta, and the Chicken Alfredo Pasta. The porkchop dish was ok, basic porkchops with a small amount of caramelized onions which came with 2 sides of your choosing. We went with the green beans and mashed potatoes. The green beans were of the same canned "quality" as previously mentioned and the mashed potatoes were similar to what you'd get out of those instant packets. The New Orleans Pasta was way too salty to the point that my family member couldn't finish and had to take in a to-go box for personal alterations at home. The shrimp in it was also mediocre at best. The Chicken Alfredo, a popular favorite, was disappointing as well. The pasta sauce itself was of nothing note-worthy. The chicken was dry and a little hard not to mention excessively salty. Oh and, the water was dirty -- random particles and flake-like substances swimming around, so fun. Not likely to repeat business - low quality food. read more

I went to chedders with my niece yesterday evening and at first I thought food was good and service was okay, I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and my niece ordered the bacon cheeseburger . the waitress was nice and friendly but she was more attentive to the other tables around us and only checked on us once which wasnt a big deal to me but we didn't finish our food and ended up bringing the left overs home, this is where it gets a little worse. as I'm eating my left overs I see that there's a hair in my wrap, and not on top or around it BUT LITERALLY INSIDE THE WRAP so that kinda sucked, definitely check your food for hair. read more

I ordered the Cornmeal White Fish and selected broccoli cheese casserole and sweet baby carrots for my sides. Every single item on my plate was delicious. My daughter is tiny but has an appetite like a linebacker so she was super pleased with the portion size and taste of her country fried steak. An added bonus was our super friendly server. Tonight my family went to Cheddar's and I wish I had my $70 back. The food was lack luster and the server said I don't want to bother you so hit this button if you need me. Dude you are a server. Your job is to check on your tables. Chicken fried steak, yuck. Cookie monster, first o e I do not even think the cookie was cooked. The cookie was cold and the ice cream wasn't melting because there was no heat from the cookie. We did get another one but by the e time it came out everyone was done and ready to go. Have come here for lunch a couple times lately. The food has been really good. They start you with a crescent w/sweet butter, very good! I have gotten the pot pie both times because it is really good. Plenty of chicken large chunks of veggies and a really flaky crust. Had a little with me and he really enjoyed his grilled cheese too. Last minute decision to try out Cheddars. I haven't been in years so wanted to give it a shot. Have to say waiting for 30 minutes when half the restaurant is empty wasn't a good start. Texas is open so no need to also make us wait in the car. We finally sat down and our waiter made up the deficiencies pretty quickly. He brought out those amazing croissant-type rolls and they are amazing!!!! I also ordered the Wisconsin fried cheese balls. Really good. So I had to try the chicken tender platter. I was really surprised how good they were. Nice and crunchy on the outside and great flavor. Ordered the fries and red beans n rice as my sides. They both were ok but nothing to write home about. I've tried Cheddar's once and I believe for the money, it's a very good value. The Cheddar's I went to is just off I-35. In Selma. My initial impression was this restaurant is a bit upscale. It has very nice decor, almost like a Steakhouse. Our party of three has to wait about 5-minutes and it was well worth it. The portions are good-sized, delicious and served by a very professional wait staff. I will most likely go again. If you have been there, reply back with your experience and what you liked. Decent food and service. The coconut shrimp were good, not a big fan of the dipping sauce but still a good dish. I love the croissants! The Monte Cristo is my personal favorite at cheddars and still good here. My husband enjoyed his chicken strip and the sides were good too. I would recommend not using the bathroom here. It is nauseating. It smelled so bad I almost threw up. The ceiling is coming apart and the counter is glued together. Papertowell dispensers either empty or barely functional while barely hanging on the wall. This place is okay. I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a "nice" date night. We were looking for a really nice place to eat after a funeral my family and I attended. We thought Cheddars would be really nice, but it's extremely "meh." The server was slow to put it nicely. When he did serve us, he was less than thrilled to be there. Not rude or anything, just obviously didn't want to be there. We used the restroom while there and it was DISGUSTING! There was a cleaning buckets hanging out in one of the stalls, and toilet paper and paper towels were literally everywhere. It was the level of cleanliness of a gas station. The upside was the food was pretty good. I had the Monte Carlo, and it was awesome, so that's one plus. Overall, I doubt I'll be back. The bread had no batter. They fashioned the sandwich with a HAMBURGER BUN. Then, they slathered the bread with mayonnaise. The cheese didn't melt on the sandwich. The mayonnaise was oozing and dripping out of the sandwich. Raspberry jam was not jam--it was a very watery syrup that dripped off the sandwich with the mayonnaise. Yuck.
