NOT a great experience. NOT as good as the previous visit. Onion ring appetizer was served 30 seconds before dinner entrees were served. Ordered a plain burger, was served with mustard. Asked to have problem corrected, I believe they dropped the burger into a fryolater to remove the mustard- along with all seasonings. Service was lackluster, with no checkback or concern expressed over meal pacing. Overall, not a great visit. This was the first time I have ever been to this place . I sat down thinking this place looks really nice.. I got the menu and noticed the menu has way too much on it... service was good but the waiter didnt explain the jumbled menu or talk about some highlighted items which were im assuming the popular dishes..my meal was short of average ... So this is night two in South Carolina and I'm not sure what the heck I expected but thanks to corporate America I am becoming less and less surprises at the familiarity of it all. Last nights bomb had me really desperate for something unfamiliar and decent and moreover distinctly South Carolinian, I happened upon cheddars. Oh how yummily surprised I was! My cute waitress said try the stuff in the yellow "those are our specialties." I had the broccoli casserole at her recommendation as one of my sides and I has sweet baby carrots. The carrots did the job but was nothing special the casserole however had me devouring the entire side quickly. The entree a reasonably priced 12.99 was a combination half rack of baby back ribs and three huge chicken tenders. The meal was da bomb. Juice tenders perfectly breaded accompanied by juicy falling off the bone ribs in a sweet an tangy sauce. I even let her talk me into a key lime pie shot. A little tart and a tasty finish. read more

They told us there would be a 20 min wait, and we happily waited outside with our buzzer. 30 min later I went to the host stand after I watched party after party sat before us; the hostess asked for my name and she could not find us, then checked the buzzer number and still couldn't find us on the list. This was my second time visiting this location. One of the worst experiences in a restaurant. The server wasn't very attentive to our table and food took over 35 mins to be delivered after ordering. Then after we were eating our drinks stayed empty for over 15 mins. Then they were only filled because we asked the waiter for refills. Definitely will not visiting this location again. I just LOVE this place every time I stop by. I just turned 21, so the drink pictured below was my first here and my favorite already, it's so yummy!! I always get the Monte Cristo when eating here as it's deep friend and I have a somewhat weak stomach to that, so I can at least finish what I can and take home the rest. Usually finish just 2 slices. The broccoli cheese casserole is to die for along with the mac and cheese! The ribs are great and juicy like they should be, so much sauce, it just makes the meat taste so good! Our server last time was so patient and amazing! I think it was Mothers Day when we went, we sat at the back left large corner booth like when walking inside. This restaurant has been a huge favorite since we moved here back in 2008. Ten years here and this place is still somewhere we go to when we have events such as birthdays, celebrations, etc. Wait time is a little long especially on weekends, but Cabellas always entertains while waiting. After asking the waitress for some recommendations, she pretty much said the entire menu but made a point to say how good the Philly cheese steak is and how the steaks, other than the Ribeye, are bad. So I ordered the cheese steak and it was below average at best. I was expecting provolone and it was white American slices. Who does that? Cheddar's does. Others in our party ordered the pot roast, the world class chicken sandwich, the club, and an app or chips and queso. All were underwhelming, but that's to be expected with prices as cheap as they are. Pay a few bucks more and go somewhere else to get a better dining experience. read more

Visiting family in Greenville and they took us to Cheddars. What at treat. We got there early on Saturday evening and had about a 15 minute wait. There were four of us and we ordered onion rings for an appetizer. A huge platter of perfectly cooked onion rings was brought to our table with two sauces for dipping. We did not finish them before our entrees were brought. The entrees are large... I ordered lemon chicken with seasoned rice and two sides. I choose green beans and a house salad. (Other choices for the sides were loaded baked potato, steamed broccoli, rice, buttered corn, baby carrots, coleslaw, french fries, mashed potatoes, red beans and rice and broccoli cheese casserole.) The salad came with a large Croissant roll with sweet butter dripping on it. Probably the best I have ever eaten. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the rice was very good as was the green beans. Others in the party loved the chicken fried steak, philly cheese sandwich and bacon, cheese hamburger. Everyone said they loved their meal. None of us could finish their meal and all of us asked for boxes to take home. We ordered iced tea as drinks and the waitress brought us refills without asking if we wanted a refill. I asked for the check and was shocked when I saw the total was $40.13, plus tax for everything. A low price for an appetizer for four four entrees and 4 drinks.... And best of all, the service was great... Friendly waitress and always available.. When we left, we noticed that there were people waiting everywhere indoors and outdoors for a table and one group said they were told the wait would be about 1/2 hour, but they thought it would be worth the wait... The only thing worse than the food is the service. Not just the waiters but also management. Our drinks took 45 mins to reach the table, while other tables sat after us received their drinks in a timely manner. After waiting almost an hour for our food and complaining to the server we spoke to the general manager. He had nothing to say and never came back to our table after that. The food was cold when it came out. I will never ever eat here again and I advise everyone else to do the same. The management is the worst part of this restaurant. read more

It was the best service my girlfriend and i have had in awhile, this was our first time coming to Cheddars and our server, Kennedy, did a great job. We didn't have to ask for refills throughout our whole meal and i'm sure we were trouble with all of the questions we asked about the menu, she suggested the Catfish, which my girlfriend ended up loving. Been to Cheddar's quite a few times and have not experienced any issues like I did yesterday. It has been a year or more since last coming to this location, so not sure if a steady decline or just a bad day. We were seated right away, on a Sunday thought that was good fortune. We first saw server Susan about 5 mins after that. It was fairly busy, but, that didn't bode well. We ordered drinks and appetizer while deciding on entrees. Took almost 10 mins to get the fountain drinks. Appetizer arrived about 5 minutes after that. Susan then took our entree order, it was @3:40. I was hoping to see Susan again and get a side of ranch dressing for the cheese bites, however did not see her for another 15 minutes and that was as she bustled past us to another table. Hoping to catch her on way back, but she didn't return that way. So, appetizer finished before I could get the sauce. She came back about 10 mins later, to ask if we needed refills, with an empty glass, kind of obvious, took our app plate and said food should be right up. 15 minutes later, she stopped back by to see if we needed anything, we mentioned the food would be good,she said she would check on it, should be only a couple more minutes. So, about 45 mins after ordering, no food yet. Wife was getting rather impatient and said if she came back again with no food, we would just ask for check and pay for what we received. I told her we prob would not see here again until the food was ready, lol. 10 mins go by, and I have watched plenty other servers go by us, kind of overt glances as they knew how long we had been sitting there with no food still. Finally had 1 server come by, Destiny and ask if we needed anything, as we were out of drinks again. Said we needed someone to check on our server and our food. She said she would check on it. 5 mins later I tell my wife i am going to the restroom, if she comes by with no food, ask for check. So, on way back to table, I see Susan on the way to the table with the food. And believe it or not, the check as well. I sit down as she is putting the food down, doesn't say anything, just walks off. My wife grabbed the check to look at it and says figures. Turns out while I was in the restroom Susan had come by to say that the kitchen lost our order and she was really sorry. My wife told her to cancel the food and just the check for what we got. Miraculously, when she went to cancel the food and print the check, the food was ready, even though it was warm at best, so certainly not right off the grill. So she brought the food, and of course, still charged on check. Which I expect since we did get the food. But, guess we did not want dessert, eh? She never came back by, to apologize to me or anything. 10 mins later Destiny came by to say she was taking over the table that Susan had left. Funny thing, Susan walked by a few more times to finish up other tables. It was just hard to believe that there was no visit from a manager to apologize for anything, no offer to comp anything, nothing. But in seeing other complaints here, guess cannot expect much from their management. Also, another thing we found disturbing, was busing the tables. Had 2 tables across from us that the families completed eating not long after we got there. 3 times, 3 different workers visited the table, some dishes would get stacked, another took a few dishes, yet it was never fully cleaned, even after hour 1 1/2 hr visit. I really hope this was just a bad day for this location and not indicative of their current state of affairs. read more

6 of us fought the traffic on Woodruff Road to come here to eat after church. We waited 40 minutes for a table but that's understandable for a Sunday afternoon. The food was good but not outstanding and the portions were smaller than we expected. The service was disappointing. One of our orders and a salad didn't come to the table until nearly a half hour after the rest of us had been served! The waitress said she "missed it" on the counter from the kitchen and apologized. We asked that that meal be complimentary because of the delay and the waitress said she'd go to the manager. The manager (maybe the assistant manager) came by and asked what happened. She apologized. We got our bill and there was no adjustment for the late meal. We asked the waitress again to comp the meal and the adjustment was finally made. With all the restaurants in Greenville, we definitely won't be going back. read more

The servers are really sweet, but it did take a while to recieve our food. When it finally came out, our food wasn't piping hot... merely warm. Since we were starving, we devoured our food. It was still tastey. I just wish we would have been served sooner. We spoke with management who took care of everything. Perhaps the slow service was due to the fact the restaurant is fairly new. So the wife, kids and I decided to give this place another to after trying it on openning weekend. It was poor then but we chalked it up to no experience. The food was subpar again but after 2/3 through the meal, a waitress drops a tray of dirty dishes on the table. I end up covered in cole slaw, a knife nearly hits our four year old, dirty food is mixed in with our food and we couldn't tell who's silverware was who's. The waitress was very apologetic - we understood as it was an accident. However... The manager was feet away and, instead of coming by to apologize after locking eyes with me, he skulks away saying NOTHING! Then, our waitress, comes by to see if we needed anything else. Yes, yes we do. Having been in the food service industry, I would have at least comped the appetizer. No dice. Check comes and nothing was done. The only person deserving of praise was the young lady who dropped the tray - she was super apologetic and very sweet. Enjoy my $40 Cheddars, you just bought yourself a whole lot of bad publicity for your lacking food and horrible service. read more

I've come here to eat a few times and every time, I wasn't blown away. my family and I had to wait 20 minutes to be seated at our tables. after we ordered, we had to wait another 40 minutes for our food. we were questioning why we had to wait so long to be seated because the place wasn't that busy, but then we saw that there were a lot of empty (but dirty) tables that needed to be cleaned. the fried chicken tenders and fries were quite bland. my family's entrees portions were small but expensive, so we asked the waiter if they had forgotten to add a part of the meal; and they did. so they brought out 4 pieces of shrimp.. only FOUR pieces. the food was ok but not worth the price. read more

Bad even for casual dining. The wait is 60 - 70 minutes long on the weekends but don't let the long wait fool you. The clientele is basically the dregs of humanity. Think slack jawed idiots that mistake the place for fine dining, taking their wives out for an anniversary or teenagers in tuxedos and baseball caps on prom night. This is the price you pay for cheap food. Please note I say cheap not merely inexpensive. There is a difference. Inexpensive is low cost cheap is low cost and still a bad value. My wife and I pulled a veteran move by slipping through the line at the front and dropping down at the bar. Everything was wrong that could be wrong my drinks were poorly made. I had a Makers and coke that came with something besides coke. The appetizer came out 10 minutes after our entree. My wife's entree was something on the sickening side of lukewarm and mine was soaked in grease and devoid of flavor. If you are dragged there kicking and screaming the best thing on the menu are the onion rings which are really good. Do not eat here. All you will do is wait an hour just to be pissed off by absolutely horrible food. Any of the established casual dining chains horrible though they are should be a much better choice on any given night. read more

I gave this one star just because i couldnt give them no stars. The service is horrible from the management to the servers. One manager 4 days in advance said they do not do reservation but could accomodate a larger party with advanced notice. Verbal notice was then given. 4 days later the party of 25 shows up at the resteraunt. The hostess immediately says that the party can not be accomodated. The manager then comes over and says that they (Cheddars) cannot accomodate the party sitting together and the party would need to sit in seperate sections. After some arguing with said manager. They accepted the party but said we would have to wait for a section to open up. 30 minutes later the hostess informs us a section has opened up but the server didn't want to serve a party in their section. The hostess then says the party can be accomodated in the back section with more servers. 45 minutes later the section opens up however when the party of 25 gets back there they could only seat 20 and we had to split the party up. Now we were told that sitting in this section would have more servers to accomodate the group however once back there there was only 1 very rude server who actually got in an argument with a couple of patrons in the party and walked off in the middle of the orders. I have never had such bad service from a place that i was activily trying to give my money too. read more

There is a nice range of choices, from healthy options to good 'ol fried comfort food. You can't beat a $3.50 margarita! I had read the mixed reviews for Cheddar but went anyway. The food was good and the to be seated timing was great. As previous reviews have commented it is service. We were a party of 2. We were seated earlier than expected. We ordered a cocktail and requested the orange drink come with the meal. After so long we realized she had forgotten. We reminded her 2 more times. By now a large group of about 10 have been seated in her area. We have spicy food so really needing that drink by now. She came out with a tray of drinks. No not our 1 but several for the group that was seated after us. Again we reminded her of our drink. She pulled out her pad, said just a second and began taking orders for the large group. Yes she took everyone's order, placed it and finally returned with our drink. Yes by now our meal is finished. She received a tip but it reflected her service. We ALWAYS tip 20% or more depending on service. Not this time. Her lack of concern put a damper on a good meal and a nice restaurant. Too bad. read more

Just got back from our first and last visit here. It started off nice, we were seated quickly, the waitress was friendly. We took our time to order , got the onion rings that we were told would take a while , that was ok. Discussed my husbands dislike of eggs and cheese on his salad with her. While waiting for our order the general manager came by with complimentary cookie, welcomed us to Cheddars and he talked about how slow they were today. We now know why. They completely messed up our order, they forgot to deliver our salads and didn't get them until we were almost through our meal after telling them we hadn't gotten them, then one was completely wrong. My hamburger was greasy and my husbands steak was overcooked. Not that anyone would know because we were never checked on. The waitress did take the 99 cents off our bill for one salad explaining that the ticket had been misread... The GM never did come back to check either and our single glasses of water had to make it through almost all of our meal. We did take our onion rings home and my uneaten salad however it did take three times to get 2 separate boxes. read more
