Had never been to one of these so I figured I'd give it a try. Came in late, around 9 PM and it was pretty quiet. Ordered the the grande top shelf margarita and boy was it grande. It was sweet, a little sweeter than I like but I drank it all! I had the Caesar salad and it was ok, nothing great. Dressing was a little odd, not what I'm used to on a Caesar salad. But I ate it all. I had the 20oz rib eye bone in, with fries and country green beans. The steak was a nice cut of meat and cooked perfectly. I had a huge pile a fries and a ramekin of beans. So, I walk in by myself, eating alone. They recommend the bar area tables. Okay. I go in, walk around, and come back out. All the tables are still dirty from the last diners. So I ask again for a table in the dining room. "Sure." They take me to a table and put my napkin-wrapped silverware and menu on a wet table with a wet seat. At least they wiped the seat off, but c'mon! This isn't rocket science! I am able to get napkins from a busser to dry the seat, table, and menu. Okay, time to check out the menu. Why??! Why do some restaurants tell you which sides come with which entrees?! Maybe I don't want mashed potatoes and green beans! And why does it take the server telling me I can order any sides? Maybe, me being the customer, they could just let me decide from the beginning. How was the food? The sides were serviceable. The steak was cooked to the correct point. It was decent, but not exceptional. What was really good about this whole experience? The waitress, Kelly. She was helpful, personable, and professional. I'm thankful I had her to wait my table. Overall? A 5 or 6 out of 10. For a chain restaurant, not too bad. If the details were considered from a customer's perspective, it would cost make it a very nice place to eat. read more

My husband and I don't generally pick large chain restaurants to eat at anyway (we prefer farm to table type restaurants), but this place was convenient for people coming from different locations. There are very limited healthy vegetarian and gluten free options. I settled on the Grilled Chicken Pecan Salad with the chicken on the side (my niece ate most of that), and I didn't eat the croutons and gave away the very average croissant (had to test it for review purposes). I got the salad with the Pomegranate vinaigrette (decent) instead of the honey mustard dressing it normally comes with. It's a large dinner salad, and I definitely would not have been able to finish it had I eaten all the stuff I gave away. So, in the end I was reasonably happy with my salad, though I would have liked a better mix of greens, and regular pecans instead of candied ones. I was also shocked by the calorie counts of most of the food on the menu - generally over 1000 calories. My husband, who ordered the Top Sirloin Steak & Grilled Shrimp, with loaded baked potato and broccoli cheese casserole, said the food (he also sampled my grilled chicken and our nephew's chicken tenders) tasted processed, salty and overseasoned. There has to be 5 million terrible overpriced chain restaurants in the world and maybe one good one. Well Cheddar's restaurant, I owe you an apology. Not every chain restaurant sucks and you are that one. I went in this week on my lunch break. I got there right at 11 am and the restaurant had several tables seated already. The outside and the inside are nice and have upscale but slightly casual feel to the place. Just as nice as Cheesecake Factory but without the way overpriced below average food that Cheesecake Factory is so proud of being known for. I knew going in that I was getting the chicken tenders platter. I ordered the chicken tenders platter with fries and mac and cheese. I ordered the buffalo sauce version. I believe this was either $8.99 or $7.99 and came with two sides. Everything was great! They give you a bunch of chicken tenders. For this big boy, it was plenty! These tasted fresh and were coated and sauced perfectly. I bet this is done on site and not sent frozen to the restaurant. They were cooked perfectly and were nice and moist. The fries appeared to be freshly hand cut and perfectly seasoned. The mac and cheese was great. I am going to try a few other menu items, but if nothing else appeals to me, I will be back for the tenders. Everything is reasonably priced and appears to be made with standards. I am looking forward to going back next week. If you are bored of chain restaurants (except Cheddar's) and think for yourself and are not manipulated by millions of dollars in TV commercials to make yourself believe you have to eat average to below average overpriced food at some chain restaurant, I am one of you. We're west coast transplants, so I've never had the experience of dining at a Cheddar's. We don't eat out often, but I'm currently 5 months pregnant and most days I'm not exactly in charge of my food cravings. I heard this place makes an okay Monte Cristo sandwich and after spending my day out and about with a 3.5 year old I decided today was the day we would branch out and try something new. I'll be honest. I didn't realize this place was such a big deal. 1:30 on a Wednesday and I would have thought I was at an Olive Garden on a Sunday. TONS of people, but we got in fairly quickly and were seated in the back--which is pretty standard when you go to a restaurant with a toddler. Our waiter was nice enough, the place seemed clean (for a while anyways), and the wait was what I expected. The problem came while we were waiting for our food. My kid was hungry and a little restless. I was sort of surprised they don't offer a kids menu or crayons considering the family atmosphere, but it was okay. We made due. As I started to take a sip of my drink something caught my eye under the table across from us. It had recently been vacated and hadn't been bussed. A mouse. A cute, little, disease carrying, looking for snacks, minding his own business MOUSE. I snapped a picture just because I couldn't believe it. I let my server know and he actually guessed that I had seen it before I told him! So he knew. Laughed. Offered to move us to a different table. I declined since we had just gotten our food and I didn't feel like uprooting my kid. I should have just left. It was gross enough, but I consider myself to be an understanding person. Mice follow food and it is what it is. We ate anyways. The food was average. I liked it for what it was-- a deep fried sandwich. My daughter didn't touch her mac & cheese, but I'm not sure that had anything to do with quality. We settled the bill and I decided on my way out to ask for a manager just to let him know about it. He had the same reaction our waiter did. He laughed. Asked to see the picture because he "had heard they had mice, but hadn't seen them". I left feeling pretty frustrated. I wasn't expecting the staff to go and catch that mouse right then and there. I wasn't expecting them to grovel and apologize for something they had no control over. But I was expecting a certain level of respect. Laughing at the situation and pretty much shrugging at me was rude. Not owning up to how gross that situation was was also rude. I could have caused a scene. A mouse was maybe 3 feet from my table. I could have walked out. I could have refused to pay. I could have refused to tip. I could have told all of my nearby diners, but I didn't. I didn't want to ruffle feathers over something these specific guys didn't have control over. But their reactions pissed me off. They represented this restaurant poorly. And don't worry, I called the health department. :) read more

Met a co-working to celebrate her recent graduation and engagement. We were seated immediately and Crystal was a very attentive server. We went during a crazy busy lunch time. There was about a 15 minute wait until we were seated. The waitress arrived quickly and was quick with our drinks. We ordered the Alfredo pasta with chicken and the shrimp dinner with fries and slaw. Both meals were hot and arrived within about 10 minutes of ordering. The place was packed, so we didn't see our waitress much (but we didn't need anything, so it was. No big deal). The garlicky white sauce that came with the shrimp was tasty. My one complaint on the shrimp was that they need to clean it a little better. I had a few pieces that hadn't been deveined (Ew!). No major complaints. We were out in under an hour, including wait time, and lunch only set us back $25. read more

This is our first time visiting Cheddars in Greenwood. It was crowded when we went but we were able to immediately sit in their bar area. Our waitress was great, value of food was great, taste of food was only okay. For lunch my husband ordered the chicken & shrimp while I preferred the vegetable tray. We waited forever to try this place. Maybe it was the anticipation that had my hopes so high. I wanted this place to be great. And it wasn't. It was ok, but not great. The restaurant itself is impressive. The exterior is well maintained, the entry had an enormous aquarium and the center seating area had this enormous fan thing that is pretty neat. The food itself isn't bad. We had Santa Fe spinach dip. Not really a southwestern taste, but it was a tad spicier that regular spinach dip. And it was good. My wife had a house salad and was impressed. I was less pleased with my chicken tortilla soup. It would have been ok if there wasn't a piece of tomato in it bigger than my soups spoon. We both had the smoke house burger. It was ok, but the lettuce and tomato on it took away from the Bbq feel. Our designated kid menu tester was pleased with his grilled cheese and fries. The service here is a little off. Let me say both our waitress and the gal who brought our food were very nice. However, we were seated near the wait stand podium. And I can't imagine how all of the people standing around it the whole time we ate didn't have anything better to do. They talked loudly amongst themselves most of the time we were there. At one point someone who appeared to be a manager came out and talked to them. They appeared defensive with him, but continued to loiter. Overall this place isn't bad, but it isn't great either. I've been to two or thee Cheddars now in different cities. A chain with copious portions and calories to go along with it. The food is good and the service has been good as well. They always have plenty of servers and turn tables quickly. The menu is large ... almost too big. All in all it's a good place to take the family if you are all looking for something different and are really hungry. Prices are reasonable. I haven't had a bad meal but it also isn't anything to write home about. read more

They are mostly consistent and they seem to offer overall quality and decent tasting food. The portions are huge, (I always take some home; and that's OK), and the service is also generally cordial and sharp. The atmosphere and decor is very pleasant too. * Bonus: Their massive salt water fish tank by the bar is super cool and relaxing to observe. I am still amazed at how nuckin futs crazy busy they can tend to get most days of the week, but yet we have never waited more than 30 minutes. The only problem we ever had in the past is maybe the food could have been served to table hotter. It's happened quite a few times; hit and miss. On more than one occasion, we have mentioned it to the server, and they corrected the problem. We were also comped a few times because of a few similar snafus. As far as the food goes, the shrimp, steak, chicken tenders, chicken pot pie, and Dijon and lemon chicken entrees are common and popular choices for our crew. The salads are tasty and ample sized. They are also chock full of a variety of toppings. It's not a cheap, sparse and throw together salad. The salad dressings are very fresh tasting too. The blue cheese and honey mustard are especially good. I posted two pics, one is of the Dijon chicken and the butter croissant rolls. The butter horn croissants are beyond amazing. They are flaky, tender and they literally melt in your mouth. They are a true carb sin in every way possible. Cheddar's continues to be one of my fairly reliable go to places to eat at when I want a sit down meal out at a favorable value. If they can just get the food out to the table still hot, that would be one if my only complaints. read more

After 5 months of coming here once a week I'll never come back. Arrived at a few minutes after 4 and 50 minutes in we just had drinks and a salad. Our server, Chloe, was acting like a space cadet the entire time. Can't seem to get drinks refilled or straws or silverware. After pointing it out to the female manager with short hair she went into immediate denial and only wanted to offer to take food off the bill (that we didn't even have yet) instead of just an apology. While in the bathroom, since we still didn't have our food, our server was in there acting odd and sniffling. I pointed this out on the way back to the table. Immediate denial again by the same manager who chose to talk about "drug accusations" in front of the two young children with us. Apologizing and walking away will get you further than going into immediate defensive mode and pissing a customer off. As a regular customer it bothers me I won't be returning since the food is always so phenomenal. read more

This is a go to place to eat for my family. When the restaurant first opened everything was great. Over time it has became more average. We have had some really good experiences here, but at the same time we have had some really bad experiences to. The problem with this place is you never know what your going to get. Sometimes service is quick and awesome other times its really slow. The food always seems different to. No major differences normally, just slight little differences. The reason we like to come here though is when the food is good, its really good. The environment is great. The price is also really not bad for a sit down restaurant neither. One thing I'd like to see all Cheddars change though, I'd like to see them make it more accommodating for children. Not to many kids options, no kids menu, and nothing to keep kids occupied while waiting on food. read more

This was our first time in the area. We walked over from our hotel, had a yummy dinner. Josh was our server, he was very polite and met our hungry needs. We were served butter glazed croissants right away and when our entrees came, we had SO MUCH to eat! The classic battered chicken tenders were delicious - I'd highly recommend those. I just can't make myself really enjoy this place.. My wife is a big fan, but I always this the food is average at best and just lacks flavor. The service was pretty good and they work hard to get you in, fed and out so they can get the next group in there. We had one of the cookies for desert as we love them at BJ's.... Cheddars come out COVERED in chocolate syrup. After getting to the bottom of you, you know why. They are trying to hide the less than yummy cookie underneath. I'll be back occasionally to please the wife, but not my first, second or third choice. read more

This chain restaurant doesn't feel as chain-y as a Chili's or Applebees. They do tend it get busy very quickly, but thankfully in our case the bar is open seating so we were able to find a seat quickly. I ALWAYS get their Buffalo Chicken Wrap as it it delicious. They have an amazing drink called a painkiller that not only is great for fun pictures, but strong enough that they only allow you to have two. I was ordering for my 3rd trimester pregnant wife, my toddler, and myself. We were in a hotel (visiting family for the weekend) and had to check out at 12 - the restaurant was next door. I called at maybe 30 till 11 and was told that although they don't open the doors until 11 my food for pickup would be ready at 11. I clarified this point - it would be ready for me to pick up at 11 (confirmed by the individual taking the order). When I showed up at 11:05 or so my food wasn't ready so I waited at the bar. It didn't come out until 11:39. I asked to speak to a manager about compensating my meal. I explained the events that occurred and she explained that there was nothing she could do regarding compensating me for the issue. She then pointed to a meal ticket that said the food would be ready at 11:35. I said - I am not sure why you are showing me this - I was never handed this ticket nor have I seen it before, I placed the order over the phone and was told - in no uncertain terms - the food could be picked up at 11. We were planning on eating in our hotel room but since checkout was at 12 and Cheddars was 40 minutes late we had to eat in the hotel lobby. I had this place once before several years ago (when it first opened) and it was still in its introduction phase. I decided to give it some time and revisit. Best choice I've made in a while. This restaurant is always busy, and there is a reason for that. We were seated quickly - as soon as we walked in - and servers were everywhere. It was a full house. Smiling faces and all. It took about five minutes to fill our drink orders, and our server was friendly and attentive through the process. Their menu is quite large, so you will have a fun time deciding what sounds good. Plenty of lighter side options to pick from. There is a decent selection of wine and beer, as well as margaritas. If your goal is to try something new, this place deserves a chance. I went with their sweet tea. It was freshly brewed! For dinner, I had their smokehouse burger. Their BBQ sauce is top notch, and the meat was juicy and flavorful. The burger was filling, but not overwhelming. Their mac and cheese was piping hot and creamy. Very good! (And baked, I think?) For dessert, we had their skillet cookie with ice cream. We were able to split between three people quite easily. We got three meals, drinks and dessert for less than $40 (not including tip). If you've had reservations about trying this place, I'd 100% recommend stopping in and filling up. You won't regret i Edit: Bumped down a star because of our awful service the other night. First time to cheddars in years and first time to this establishment . It's located by greenwood mall which is great when shopping or running errands in the area . We had such a friendly waiter , Kyle . He explained house favorites and gave us some good recommendations ! The restaurant is well lit and has many signature meals from their infamous chicken tenders (not pictured) but we had them in our appetizer which came with chicken tenders , spinach dip , and cheese dip (beef option). We ate from the comfort food section which my meal was their New Orleans pasta which did not disappoint ! So much flavor and fulfilling amounts of shrimp , chicken , and sausage . Garlic bread also came with it. My sister had their meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccoli casserole! It looked as good as it taste. Family friendly and highly recommended . We love trying new places and today's lunch brought us to Cheddars! Ethan ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes, corn, and added on a cesar salad. The salad was amazing. He said it was probably the best salad he's ever had. The croutons were light and crispy... perfect! He did not like the steak. The breading had a taste and texture of planko crumbs. He was not a fan. Ally ordered the Philly cheese steak with fries and added on a house salad. Salad was light, fresh, and delicious. The sandwich was SO GOOD!! Packed full of speak, green peppers, onions, mushrooms and topped with thick cheesy cheese. Fries were good, but not as crispy as she likes.
