It's sad that Cheddar's has a great menu but just can not deliver consistency across its brand of chain restaurants. The honey butter croissants and onion rings may be the only reason to go. This was my first visit at this particular Cheddar's after eating at the Daytona Beach location a couple years back. My dish was salmon with broccoli casserole and "southern" green beans. The beans were not southern other than they were overcooked. No seasoning and cold. The salmon portion was small but cooked adequately. The casserole was good and cheesy as the waitress mentioned. But for a restaurant that wasn't full, the kitchen was very slow. We probably waited for 25 minutes for our food and we were eating at 3:00 in the afternoon. Won't be back. read more

Before I go giving this bad report I want to first say...in general we LOVE cheddars! It's this location that is ruining Cheddar's good standards. This is probably the third visit to the Jackson location that we have had an unsatisfactory time. With that being said, our server..needed more training time to say the least. Although I did tip 10% I am not certain He deserved that. I tried to consider that the food was not his fault also so...anyways The appetizer was the basic queso n homemade salsa with chips. What a disappointment! How hard could this be to mess up? Well the queso tasted like cheese whiz warmed up..also looked liked it. The "homemade" salsa was terrible. I honestly couldn't believe how tasteless it was. Come on man...chips n salsa not getting ate when we Were starving says a lot. Next I made the mistake of ordering a Bacon cheeseburger. FROZEN PATTY with NO TASTE. Seriously folks...give it a shake of salt n pepper when u r cooking this thing on the flat top. I did choke down half of it but man...it was so cold n the Bacon was even tasteless. Richard got the ribs n fried shrimp. His was "alright" but his sides Were cold. Oh I almost forgot. I ordered a salad with my Burger for like $2.50 or $2.95 can't remember exactly...but it was a huge disappointment as Well. Bagged lettuce with a few cherry tomatoes n some shredded carrots. This cheddars location doesnt not compare to the Cookeville location. The food doesnt seem to taste as good and the service is a lot worse. We(6 people) were in a both and they took forever to bring refills. When they finally brought our drinks, they didnt take our empty glasses. We love cheddars! Been to this location several times and never have had bad service or bad food. Highly recommend Cheddars any day. The only down side is can be the wait time. Today was my first time coming to cheddar's. I have heard good things so i came in with my cousin to give it a try. The hostess told us that it would be a little wait or we could sit at a high table in the bar, we didn't want to wait too long so we sat in the bar. It wasn't really busy so we didn't understand why every table around us was dirty. We waited 20 minutes for someone to come up to the table and ask for our drinks, we waited another 20 for the drinks, and another 20 for some waters that we ordered in the beginning. After a minute we left to go to the bathroom, we came out to the busser trying to buss our 4 completely full glasses from the table, while all the other tables surrounding stayed stacked with dishes. When our food came out it was lukewarm and my cousin's shrimp for her shrimp and steak wasn't even on the plate. I didn't complain to a manager in store, because all that would've happened is a food comp, which I didn't need. It was clear that not only the staff but the manager their self wasn't doing their job because if so it wouldn't have even happened in the first place. Bad service. Less than average food. Would have preferred Mcalisters or Panera bread for what we ordered. I'm not the type to leave bad reviews but when my dining experience leaves me feeling irritated, I feel the need to say something about it. We ordered a Philly cheesesteak. As a side dish ordered french fries. What I got was a bowl of rice and a Philly cheesesteak and had a piece of cheese sitting on top of the hoagie roll. It wasn't melted, but just sitting there as if they forgot to put it on on its way out of the kitchen. When I bit into the roll, it was obvious that it had been microwaved, It had that real spongy texture that you can't bite into. All in all, their scratch kitchen concepts needs some work. read more

The food is fine but the terrible servers make you forget about the quality of the food. I've had two experiences at this restaurant and the experiences went from bad to worse. I should have been tipped off by the fact the parking lot was fairly bare at lunch time on a Friday. I was by myself and all I ordered was a salad. 25 minutes later, it finally came. Then the waiter took his sweet time with checking me out. Left the restaurant more than an hour after arriving. What a joke. Forgot today was Sat so we went here for country fried steak with cream gravy, big mistake since Texas Roadhouse opens at 11 on weekends. Just 5 minutes longer and I could of had a nice lunch. Just left the restaurant without eating or drinking due to poor service and miscommunication. Even though they weren't busy, we were told that we would get immediate service in the bar area. Once there there was an empty booth in bar area. We sat there and a waitress came over and bused the dishes from the table. We waited for 15 minutes watching staff stand around, pass by our table and take care of other customers without acknowledging our presence. Once we got up to leave, the waitress told us we weren't in the bar area, but she could serve us. My parents "treated" my wife and me to lunch today, inasmuch as that word can be stretched to include a meal at Cheddars Scratch Kitchen. The seating and our server, Selena, were great. However, the menu changes and food quality since the ownership change all say upper management incompetency and downhill slide. Obviously, I did not point this out to my parents, but my wife and i were in silently communicated agreement on this. Independently, my parents mentioned to us that the food quality is degraded from when the place opened. I cannot recommend. (BTW...who in their right mind removes Spasagna from the Cheddars menu? That's right...no one! But, it's no longer there, and no amount of expressed customer dissatisfaction seems destined to change that error. ) read more

This place is great. The food, the drinks, the service are all excellent. We have never had a bad experience here. It is a very popular place, so sometimes the wait can be long, but it's worth it. There is a patio with a small waterfall feature that is very nice. read more

We go here often to celebrate family birthdays! The food is always delicious and today the service was fantastic. Bobby acted as if we were his only party to serve and did an excellent job. Today was my first timme going and it was definitely worth the visit. Every time I drive past it's always busy, so figured I'd try it out. Got seated quickly, yes the floor was a bit dirty but they were really busy so maybe they hadn't gotten around to cleaning it yet. I've been looking for a truly authentic Country fried steak and finally I found it! It was good, crispy outside, juicy inside and seasoned nicely. The gravy has a bit of different flavor, not sure what it is. I was not disappointed in the taste, just not as happy if it had been true peppered white gravy. Portions are extremely generous, just a heads up if you order a side salad-you may need a to go bag cause this thing is huge! Price wise-Super happy! They don't try to take you for all you have. My fried steak meal was 10.99 which is about 2.00 less than I'm used to paying for it. I really enjoy Cheddars. Their one down fall is wait time. Often you have to wait a while to be seated, then once you're seated you wait for your server. I love Cheddars for the good food at a good price. The first few times I came I was so shocked at the prices; so affordable. I've liked everything I've gotten here to blackened salmon, philly cheesesteak, salads, and pasta. I defiantly come here at least once when I'm in town. read more

Waited on fathers day with a group of 9, tgen waited 45 mins for a booth to be split up. Then i asked for a table unused and they said it was no server for it the waitress said she would be glad to take us. Then the manager put us at a 6 time and we asked about a larger table the manager said he was going to sit someone else. We just walked out, 3 hostess and was screwing the servers! This place gave me food poisoning! I was very excited about going to this place since I haven't been here before. I was impressed by the cheap price and wide range of selections to choose from. Service was okay, and I thought it would be a good meal. I ordered the Dijon Chicken and mushrooms and my husband ordered the Keywest Chicken and Shrimp. We both shared our meals together and had a good time. However, when we got home, we were both really sick and got food poisoning. What made me angry, was that I filed a complaint to them, gave them our check # and contact number, expecting them to contact us, but they NEVER replied to our complaint. Cheddar's is one of those chain restaurants that you see all over the country. We are always happy to see new restaurants in Jackson, and the long lines are proof positive. When Cheddar's first arrived, there were extra long lines and wait times to be seated. Their food is best described as American comfort food and the times I have been to Cheddar's in Jackson, the food has been prepared properly and tasted good. The real seller on this place is the prices. Not sure how they can charge so much less than other restaurants with similar food options, but they do. It appears the wait times to get a table have recently subsided somewhat. I'd like to be able to give them 3.5 stars because four might be a little too much and they aren't really as "meh" as three. I guess the wait time is what gets me. With kiddos, it's really hard to have them wait 30-45 minutes when the place is jam-packed with people waiting. It has been especially good for a late lunch or early dinner, when the wait has been non existent. Though it's nothing to write home about, Cheddar's has a wide variety of food to accommodate various appetites. So I reluctantly give it three stars. I hope they earn a fourth star when I go back the next time. read more
