Probably would give this place 2 1/2 stars if I could. We had never heard of this particular chain so were eager to give it a try. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a booth in the bar area. It was busy and loud so if you are looking for a quiet family restaurant this probably is not the place. Our waitress started out strong and efficient but am not sure what happened. She did explain that everything is made, "from scratch" which we now know means it takes a long time for stuff to come out of the kitchen. We waited 40 minutes for our food and about half-way through the wait our server informed us they ran out of mac-n-cheese and that was the hold up. If I had known I would have ordered something else. As a result of them running out of my son's entrée, our food sat and was not as appetizing as it could have been. My mashed potatoes were room temperature and the chicken fried chicken steaks were barely warm but we went with it because it was late and our server was so apologetic. She even delivered buttered croissants to us for the inconvenience. Their twist on lasagna looked pretty good but would have been better if it were hot. Seems like everyone's food sat in the window too long while they made more mac-n-cheese from scratch. The prices were surprisingly low and if the food temperature had been more on the mark I would give this place a higher rating. The waitress even wrote, "God Bless" on our check which some people might have a problem with but we thought it was a nice touch. Definitely home cooking but would probably go to Cracker Barrel across the street next time. read more

How Long does it take to steam broccoli. Okay this was the first cheddars franchise yesterday, I've gone to in Florida. I've been to the one in Asheville, NC and was invited to dinner. Prior to going i was contemplating what to eat and decided fish would be the choice. There was no wait at 630pm. The waiter was very attentive on getting order and didn't rush anyone when it was indicated more time was need for others at the table. I order the salmon and 2 sides. Broccoli being one side and loaded potato. The salmon sits on small bed of white rice. The plates came out and it was indicated the broccoli was on it's way by the table runner. After 5 minutes no broccoli and the waiter was reminded. It was indicated fresh broccoli was being prepared. my Salmon was a little over cooked and another at the table. The waiter the called manager who offered to replace. I opted not to replace but being it had now been 10 minutes reminded the manager my broccoli had not been delivered. The other party at the table decided to replace there salmon but with fried shrimp platter, beans and rice and coleslaw (no complaint on the shrimp platter) nice size shrimp cooked. My salmon was a little dry but opt not to send back as I just wanted the complete meal and reminded the manager who came over to check on shrimp platter I was still waiting on broccoli that was ordered. The manager apologized for no follow up. Keep in mind after the manager left still no broccoli and the other party has a new plate delivered. 30 minutes have past I've now eaten 1/2 of my plate and no broccoli. It actually became a joke at the table. The broccoli came after 5 reminders, an hour 10 minutes of initial order, a new plate prepared for another a person at the table , and salmon and potato eaten on my plate.. We were asked of we wanted dessert - all I could say is it appears my broccoli is my dessert and no thank you.. The waiter apologized who was pleasant but not sure who was responsible for the food,the waiter or the runners who initially brought out the food. Pretty good and right on par with other popular chains such as Ruby Tuesday or TGI Fridays. The service was so-so (mostly due to the busy lunch crowd) and the food was pretty good. Nothing that had me dying to come back but nothing necessarily terribly wrong with it either. We shared the cheese fries to start and it was the same thing I could make at home. I was hoping for maybe a creamy cheese or more gourmet style instead of just shredded cheddar microwaved and melted on top. Considering the name of the place I had expectations about the cheese itself that weren't really met. We shared Mac and cheese at dinner just to taste it hoping it would wow us (again considering the venue's name) and neither of us were wowed. His chicken fried steak was good and so was my burger. Great drinks! Cheap for the huge goblets most of them come in. We had the cheese curds, which are a definite must, as are the onion rings. The interior was nicely decorated and the service was great! I really wish I could give them more stars just because Food always taste good. We usually order food from here a few times a month. First few orders everything was great. The past 4 orders were just horrible. Customer service from To-Go is horrible. They sound very annoyed that you called. You place your order and then get there to pick it up and they are running all over he place trying to get it ready for you. Mind you they said it will be ready in 20mins and you get there in 35min. We had an issue a few weekends ago where we ordered 2 buffalo chicken wraps and they did not have buffalo sauce on it. But we were like what ever it was a mistake. Last weekend we order the same thing and again no buffalo sauce. We contact the manager and she was nice and stated she will send us a email with a gift card for the inconvenience. Which we still have not received. Today we placed a big order for our office and this is the last time we will ever order from there. Food looked like it was put together by a 5 year old. Everything was mixed together and did not look good. But again we order 2 buffalo wraps and NO buffalo sauce. Come on guys we gave you 3 chances to get it correct and you still managed to mess it up. We were there on a Sunday afternoon, as we were returning from Tampa and heading for a late afternoon flight home from Orlando. It was 2:30 when we arrived, and the place was packed and we still had to wait almost 30 minutes to be seated. Service was slow and not very attentive, but we cut them a break because it was so crowded. The food was okay - but I wouldn't say it was anything special. It wasn't a horrible experience, but it was certainly nothing memorable. I would probably say that we would not try them again if we had other choices, it would not be something we'd want to try again. read more

Met someone for an early dinner before his flight. Arrived at 4:45pm - not many people there. There was a lot of staff walking around. Samuel was our server and he was attentive and very good. The food was good. I had a Burger that was quite tasty and fresh. They mentioned medium well but I asked for medium rare. It came out between medium and medium well. This was fine as it wasn't dry. My friend had the Pork Chop (and gravy) with mashed potatoes and green beans. He liked it a lot. The food and service were very good. The level of cleanliness going into a dinner rush was not really OK especially how many staff were there pre-rush. The carpet area had loads of crumbs and food bits and the men's room was at least partly unsanitary. I'll see how it is next time. read more

I love the food at Cheddar's. I have came here a few times, the food is always flavorful. They use different combinations I would never think to eat together. Today I had the Monte Cristo sandwich. The sandwich contained smoked ham and smoked turkey. They dip it in a pancake/funnel cake batter, and dust in sugar powder. There is a raspberry preserve for dipping which is pretty sweet and delicious I would definitely recommend this sandwich. The only thing I believe Cheddar's should work on is that my food is always cold when it arrives. Sometimes I have to have them heat it up, which is unfortunate for a scratch kitchen. I checked in at the wrong location :( The one I went to was actually the newly opened Cheddar's on Colonial near Alafaya area. The restaurant still has a sign across the front that displays "staff in training", so I was a little hesitant to go try it out. When I arrived at lunch time there was quite a line but we got in relatively quickly. We had a server that seemed to be like a deer lost in headlights. She fumbled everything in my order but she was spot on with my two sister's orders. I even had to remind her several times that it was wrong. In the end, the manager took the chips & salsa & queso appetizer off our bill since she forgot to put it in the system...or maybe someone else snagged our appetizer by mistake for their table. We never even got the appetizer puff pastry we wanted. As far as food quality goes, it was good for a chain restaurant and the prices were affordable. I ordered the raspberry lemonade, which wasn't as good as, let's say, Cracker Barrel. It was a little watered down. The ribeye steak and loaded baked potato was very well seasoned. My sister had the steak and shrimp with broccoli. The broccoli was a little over cooked. My other sister had the steak and ribs. All were very flavorful. I can forgive the server since it was her first week, and I commend the manager for being proactive and following up on mistakes so with all those factors, I would definitely go back just to check the consistency. read more

Had the lighter fare whitefish. Presentation was a 7 out of 10 for the plate. To be fair, it was just salad greens and the fish on the rice. The pilaf was a bit spicy, not what I expected, but was edible. I did not eat all of the rice. The whitefish was delicious & slightly crispy on the edges; never had a fish like that and I loved it. For a "lighter" fare, the fish was a generous portion. Check out the photos I took of my plate and two other entrees that my friends chose. Per my buddies, food was also 7 out of 10. I have never had a negative experience here. They always deliver on good, solid, simple food. Nothing here is extravagant, it is scratch cooking like mom does. They start you off with some croissants that are topped with honey butter. They are warm and flaky. A nice start. I then had a side salad with blu cheese. I love their side salad. It has egg cheese chopped romaine tomatoes croutons. The blu cheese was nice and had large chunks of blu cheese. The lettuce was fresh and had no brown spots. I had the chicken tenders for dinner. You get 5 large tenders with fries and cole slaw. Everything is hot and fresh. Their tenders are so juicy. I use buffalo sauce and their hot honey. They have recently changed their buffalo sauce. It still is hot it is more generic though. I believe in the past they made it in house now it seems like all others. The hot honey is. Nice option and one I enjoy. It is a recent addition to the menu. Overall a strong meal when you want some home cooking. read more

Ok I don't usually review unless something absolutely amazing or awful happened. My family and I visited the Cheddars on Semoran in March. Main dishes were good. We ordered 2 desserts to share... one had GLASS in it. Now my dad owns a restaurant so he calmly told out waiter. He apologized. Now we were very calm and understand things happen. But the chef/manager came out and offered to take the price of the dessert off our bill... um obviously we couldn't eat it. We let it go thinking they would do something else, because there was you know, GLASS in our dessert... nope not a thing. We left very unimpressed. Now that would be enough, however, my dad owning a restaurant felt the need to reach out. He was contacted by a manager and they apologized and vowed to make it right. They said they would send my dad 4 free meals (we had 5 in the original party, but not a big deal). I hadn't asked my dad if he received anything until they were slotted to come visit me again a week ago. When he told me that Cheddars blew him off and never did anything about GLASS in our food I was appalled. He wanted to let it go... but I live 2 minutes from this restaurant and would go all the time if they didn't handle this so poorly. It wasn't like we asked for no mustard or something... there are soooooo many places around you that people could eat instead. Shame on Cheddars. read more

Very surprised when I saw the menu because the prices we very reasonable for a well done, clean, modern restaurant near Orlando airport. Burger meals were still $10.00, a 16 ounce Strip steak on $21.99 and vegetarian plate with a nice size fresh salad INCLUDING 4 additional sides of vegetables or potatoes for only $10.95. Quite a shock the quality and price was so good and the staff so nice. I would highly recommend it and return. read more

MENU: 2 stars. I tried. I really did. I desperately WANT to like Cheddars, I do, but it just isn't good. I've been there 4 or 5 times and I've always held off on reviewing them because surely, I just got something that wasn't good, or maybe my taste buds weren't cooperating that day, or just maybe the cooks in the back had a rare bad day, but I simply must face facts: Cheddars isn't a good restaurant. First time I went to Cheddars, I had the buffalo chicken wrap. It was bad. Very bad. Borderline tasteless. On my next visit I had the quesadillas. They were so salty they irritated my gums. My next experience consisted of having a chicken sandwich. It tasted microwaved and not prepared. I give up. I'm sorry, but I can get mediocre food elsewhere from fast food joints without having to pay a tip to servers. MOOD: 4 stars. The mood is pretty standard, like any other casual chain restaurant. This particular Cheddars attracted large and working class groups, which seemed to mostly consist of young professionals. STAFF: 5 stars. The staff is very friendly. In particular, the manager was going from table to table engaging the customers and supplying them with cookies for being loyal customers. It was a welcome feeling. VERDICT: 3 stars for a decent experience. If you find something on the menu that is even marginally palatable, please let me know, because I will easily try it. My parents, Opa and Oma, which are 98 and 90 years old respectively, live in Orlando and whenever I have a chance I go visit. They love to eat out in the Belle Isle area, so I have tried a bunch of restaurants on Semoran Ave, and today we decided to go to Cheddar's. From the onset I liked the place, sober and nice deco, friendly staff welcomed us. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. We started with the Onion Rings, prepared a bit differently, a bit on the spicy and salty side, but very good. Then we had the baby back ribs and the New Orleans pasta (shrimp, sausage, chicken.. a bit spicy, but not too much, just the right kick). Everything was very good. Prices are decent. The only thing that prevents me to give it a 5* rating was the very long time we had to wait for our main dishes, and when we finally received it my dish was not piping hot, and the pasta at the edges of the plate was cold, meaning that the plate was sitting out there for a long time. For me that is one of the cardinal sins of a restaurant.... long wait and then get a cold dish (but a long wait and then get a perfect dish is Ok with me)... it shows lack of attention to a crucial detail. But maybe it was a fluke... anyway, we liked Cheddar's and will come back, Recommended! read more

This was my second trip to Cheddars. The first time I tried the Monte Cristo sandwich and it was very good. A little sweeter than I would typically eat but over all a good sandwich. Tonight I tried the Dijon Chicken with mushrooms. Delicious! I'm not much of a rice eater so I asked to l leave it off. The dish comes with 2 sides so I got the mashed potatoes and a side salad. My server recommended the white gravy for my potatoes and I had her bring it in the side, just in case I didn't like it. The white gravy hustled didn't go with Dijon Mustard Chicken so I used the sauce and the extra mushrooms with my dish on my mashed potatoes, yummy!! The portions are large so you get your money's worth. I have lunch for tomorrow. For dessert I tried the Mini Chocolate Trifle. The perfect small sweet bite! The cake was warm with chocolate mouse and hot fudge. It was really good and again just enough. I look forward to going back to Cheddars. read more

I am a vegitarian and I am so tired of going to places like this that dont have a vegitarian substitute or just have salad. They have a "Veggie Plate" which is literally a soup or salad and a bunch of sides. When I go out to eat I dont want to have a bunch of sides thats nine bucks and wont fill me up. They said they could do a fili cheese stake without the stake but then it would just be cheese, onion and mushrooms. Like come on guys step up your game. Ok they say the 3rd time is a charm... what a lie! Lol unfortunately my mother in-law had a gift card so she took me and my wife for lunch. This time we were seated quickly and the waiter took our order very quickly. Problem was that the food took forever to come out. We did order queso and chips that also took forever but it was tasty. Our drinks were serve BUT never refilled not once! The waiter was awful. I ordered chicken tenders with grilled shrimps and two sides of Mac and cheese and a loaded baked potato. I got my food and of course I had fries instead of the loaded baked potato. My mother in-law was missing her carrots. I kept trying to tell the waiter about my loaded potato but he took off without even listening so when he came by again I told him I didn't order fries I ordered a loaded baked potato so he went out to the kitchen and came back like in 2 minutes with one. Well it was nasty and cold like it was sitting on a counter which I think it was since he came back so quick. The shrimps looked so sad I swear there was like 3 on my plate! The chicken tenders were good (thank god) and the fries were better than the loaded potato so I ate those plus they were still hot. Again was truly disappointed and I will not give this place a 4th try. No way! I love how pretty this place is BUT they need better servers and they need to bring your food out quicker along with refilling your drinks! I mean come on this is my 3rd try! SMH Dear manager please don't respond with asking me to call or email with further information. My problem is clearly stated 3 times. Point blank you NEED better servers!!!!!! My first time at Cheddars was amazing and imagine myself and my girlfriend went on a Saturday afternoon. I loved it. The food quality was amazing and the service was awesome. I like restaurants that have good ambience and booths or tables not congested giving you space. I mean im a big man so space is my comfort anywhere I go. The only downside of the whole experience is the price but you get what you pay for. So be prepared to cough up some money and take some food home in a to-go box. My family and I were so excited to go eat here after our movie tonight. The last time we tried they had over an hour wait. Tonight it was only 25 minutes so we decided to wait it out with my 3 children. The wait wasn't bad and was as advertised. Unfortunately, that was the last thing that well for the evening. When they showed us to our table in the back near the kitchen. Their were over 5 unseated tables and they rated that way for over 10 minutes into our stay while the wait was still long. We ordered a chip and queso app for the table. The chips looked like it was the boots of a bag. Almost all crumbs and no plates to pass out the appetizer. My wife had a Tiki punch Margarita, which had good flavor but neither of us could taste a single bit of alcohol. Our waitress just seemed lost the entire time. I had a beer in a bottle. It was col so no issues there. We ordered: Beer bartered shrimp with broccoli and a baked potato and a cup of tortilla soup. Result: the shrimp was good but the broccoli was under cooked and the potato was in seasoned. Soup was good. Dijon chicken with French fries and a ranch salad. Result: salad was served with no dressing. We had to ask for it after. The Chicken and rice tasted good. The mushrooms were slimy. And the French fries were soggy and had no seasoning. Kids penne pasta: results: good but they forgot the garlic bread. We had to remind them. Chicken finger: results: good but the honey mustard on the side was really spicy for some reason. Maple bacon chicken sandwich: results: my daughter loved it. Overall the service was very sub par, the food was poor. The drinks were weak. The total tab after a 20% tip was $100 for 2 adults and 3 children. (I waited tables to long not to ever tip under 20% no matter how poor the service. Won't be going back for at least a year. Please avoid this Cheddars at all costs. I've always thought that, close to airport chain restaurants were always below average & this location just proved me right. The service was super lack luster & forgetful. Half the staff was preoccupied with a co worker or manager who decided to dine in at the restaurant on their day off & indulge in conversation rather then actually serve the patrons. There were numerous times where we were flat out ignored, asked for simple things like: refills, condiments, napkins or a check and it took 15+ min wait each time. On top of that the food was horrendous and cold. I'm usually not one to do negative reviews on Yelp but this has to be reported. It was so bad I couldn't even get a manager to complain. You know, I was pleasantly surprised by this place when I first went to this location back when they first opened. Since then I've been back a number of times for different celebrations with friends and each time try something different and each time I'm pleased. The last time I was there my Aunt and I ordered a wrap during lunch and much to our surprise we got 4 wraps delivered to us! Two wraps cut in half (4 sections) and fries for each of us. When we joked about it with our server he responded with "oh yea you could've gotten the lunch portion which is half" --- well good sir it would've been helpful to know that! read more
