We were visiting down in Florida, and the couple took us to Cheddar's on Davis Highway in Pensacola by the University Mall. On the first look Cheddar's looks like a typical chain type casual restaurant. But instead, the decor and ambiance makes Cheddar's feel more like an eclectic bistro. We did have to wait 25 minutes in the foyer way, but we we forewarned. The wait staff was attentive when it was our turn to be seated. I had the grilled salmon with rice, and cool tasting apple yogurt fruit salad type dish as one of the two included side dishes. The salmon filet was grilled perfectly to my order. The prices seemed fair and the portions were huge. Be sure to get your go box ready. Overall, Cheddar's is a cozy neighborhood bistro type restaurant with a wide open menu of many American fare type dishes. We would go back! read more

I hate giving a low review since we go here often. However, lately the restaurant has been going down hill and today's experience was the last straw. My family will never eat here again. First complaint is when I went to the restroom one of the waitresses entered at the same time. Once she was done doing her business, she didn't wash her hands. I yelled at her, "hey aren't you going to wash your hands" she literally pushed my mother in law out of the way and ran out of the bathroom. I complained to management about the health code violation, he didn't seem too concerned about it. Second complaint, is how rude the wait staff in our section was. I'm a nursing mother and one of the waiters continued to glare and point at me while talking to other staff members. My daughter and I were in town for a weekend get away staying at a hotel nearby. The hotel manager mentioned this restaurant, so we decided to give it a shot. It was the night before Mother's Day, so the restaurant was a bit busy, but we still had great service and food. Went to the bathroom to find a couple of cooks hanging out in there talking also. I heard the food was suppose to be a great deal for the price but found it to be nothing special. We went to this Cheddar's after having not been to one in a couple years; so we were excited to give it a try. Our waitress was very friendly and helped us in every way she could. We ordered the Spinach dip as an appetizer and my wife and I both ordered the Monte Cristo for our meal. My wife and I always like to have fun when going out since our time together is so limited, so we were playing "paper football" with a packet of sugar while we were waiting for the food. The manager walked by and laughed when he saw us playing and came back a couple minutes after with a perfectly folded paper football. He set it on the table and said "who ever wins, dessert is on me!" And he absolutely kept to his word! Such a nice change of pace to have a chain restaurant with such awesome workers! He brought us the biggest freakin piece of chocolate cake I've ever seen! It was covered in fudge/ caramel, topped with nuts, and accompanied by vanilla ice cream. Picture the big ass cake from the movie Matilda; and my wife and I were that kid eating it. The prices are the cheapest as compared to any other chain restaurant around; and the quality does not suffer due to the price! Food was great, and so were the people. Little to no wait on ordering, or being seated. Even got a laugh while leaving; I was wearing a shirt that said "Hillary for Prison 2016" and it seemed to deeply offend the male hostess while we were on the way out. Overall great night! Cheddars has definitely gone downhill since opening. We wanted baked potatoes but the kitchen told the waitress they were out. We ordered other sides but when our dinner came out there was a baked potato on one of our plates. And the other side was wrong. To top it off our medium-rare ordered steak came out well done. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating but the kitchen staff needs more training or better communication. At first, it could be perceived as a joke, but her tone was flat out disrespectful. I was so shocked. So I waited to order with everyone else. Appetizer came out within 10 minutes. I ordered the chicken tenders basket. Food was great and portion size was huge for $6. That was worth the price. Main course came out within 20 minutes of ordering. My rib-eye came out really bitter. It would've been perfectly fine if I ordered a charred rib-eye, but that was not the case I ordered a medium rare rib-eye. When I asked her if this was standard, but she acting very rude thinking I should stick with the rib-eye. She saw I was very displeased not only with the rib-eye but with her attitude. Immediately she brought me another rib-eye, at this time I was already done with Chedder's. At this point, I was fed up with Chedder's, the service was absolutely intolerable. When we saw the waitress again, we asked for the boxes and the check. As soon as I got home, I tried the rib-eye and again, it was not what I ordered. I started out with the tortilla soup, and my bf had the baked potato soup. Both were very good. I ordered the top sirloin steak with fries and rice, and my bf had the ribeye with rice and mashed potatoes. I really enjoyed mine, especially the fried onions on it, and my bf loved his. Very very disappointed with our experience at this cheddars location. From the moment me and my family walked inside to be seated no hostess was to be found. We stood waiting for somebody to greet us for 15+ minutes. Finally once we get seated we wait another 15+ minutes to be acknowledged by our waitress. Then we place our food order and even though the restaurant was dead they were so SLOW. Took 40+ min to get food and my husbands buffalo chicken wraps had no buffalo sauce so she brings it back to the kitchen and they dump buffalo sauce inside and all over the wraps. My husband politely says whatever I'll just eat it. He took one bite and the chicken inside was RAW!!!! I ate my salad despite it not being very good and now feel very sick to my stomach. Needless to say we will NEVER return to this location and encourage you and your family to skip out on this cheddars. It's definitely not like other cheddars we've been to in the past.
