Horrible service . They take forever to even bring the drink out. Always say there short staffed . They need to find a new manager .

First time at this location and had a great dining experience Sunday night. Our server was Maria she was friendly and attentive. I ordered the skinny margarita and it was a nice size for the price. I haven't been here for awhile and noticed they changed the name to scratch kitchen. I can definitely taste the difference. The quality in food has gone up. Its not overly salty as the last time I ate at a cheddars. Chips and queso with ground beef was a yummy start. I ordered the blackened salmon with grilled shrimp on the side and it was really good except the salmon was a bit overcooked to my liking I guess they cook salmon well done here. Ended our dinner with a monster cookie it was delish except the ice cream was bland didn't have a vanilla taste. Other than that I would definitely come back to the location again! I haven't been here in over a year due to the horrible service so I decided to give it another chance in 2015. The service has not changed in fact it may be worse. The hostess sat us in the bar area (big mistake). The service is bad enough as it is in the main dining room but the bar area takes it to another level. It took over an hour to bring 2 simple meals. This is probably because the bar tender put our food order in 25 minutes after we ordered. When the food finally arrived it was cold (to be expected from the brainless staff). Also not a single drink refill the entire time we were here. I don't understand how this restaurant is still in business. We will never return. read more

My boyfriend & I came here last Sunday. It looked pretty packed considering all the cars in the parking lot and amount of tables occupied inside. However, it's a good thing that there wasn't any wait for our table of two (: The food at Cheddars in Sugar Land tastes the same as the one located on Beltway and Westpark. We started off with the tower of onion rings served with a side of ranch and cajun ranch sauce(?). The onion rings were kind of... salty. Even when I drenched it in the ranch I could still taste the saltiness. At least the onion rings were nice and crispy, otherwise I would have been super unsatisfied. For my main course, I ordered grilled catfish blackened with some spices, served with seasoned rice and my choice of two sides: steamed broccoli and buttered corn. [PAUSE] I LOVE Cheddars buttered corn!! I don't care what entre I get, I must have a side of buttered corn with it!! [PLAY] This is the first time I've ordered catfish at Cheddars. It was a tad bit... salty. I don't know if that's normal. First my onion rings are salty... then my catfish is salty? Maybe it's just my feminine taste buds acting up. At least the strawberry lemonade was delicious. Sooo good that I ordered one to-go (: Oh, the service was great. The hostess smiled upon our arrival and wished us a nice day on our way out. One of the managers even stopped by during our meal to check up on us. I'm surprised that there wasn't a delay on the food with the amount of business that evening. Considering this is a new business, our server seemed well-trained as she was trying to sell us on a few items by making a few suggestions here and there. She also occasionally came by to check up on us as well. I mean, she forgot to leave us a pen when she gave us back our credit card but everybody forgets from time to time, right? I will be back (because I didn't have room this time for the delicious buttered croissants). Cheddar's is Cheddar's! Not always the best service, but always the best value. Food is almost always excellent and servings are always huge. Sugar Land Cheddar's is just right! Glad to see menu is expanding while maintaining the favorites. Great location! Seated amazingly fast with this being the first week of it opening. Food was great (shrimp that accompanied talapia dish was little over done and way to much peas and carrots in the rice pilaf but other than that it was GREAT). read more

I love Cheddars. Back when I was a grad student at the great Texas A&M Universtiy (Whoop!), my wife and I used to go to Chedders and get some good quality Texas sized meals for college prices. This particular Cheddars is in Sugardland, TX but the menu and prices are the same. Chedders has a great spinach dip appetizer. Their ribs, quesadillas, and Monte Cristo's are excellent as well. The mixed drinks are huge; most are limited to 2 per person per visit. Cheddars is family friendly and college kid friendly. read more

Came in on 4th of July after a night of popping fireworks with my wife and friends. They were about 30 minutes from closing and we were seated right away. I shared the ribs and shrimp with my wife and my friends got the pot pie and club sandwich. Had no complaints on the food, it actually tasted better than I expected, or maybe I was just hungry, but nonetheless the food was just fine. The restaurant was nicely decorated and had a nice ambiance. It's much better than other chains such as Chili's. As always, don't forget to order the buttered croissants! read more

This is probably one of the worst locations I've been to. Cheddars needs to do a better job in training their employees on customer service. I typically like their food, but our server took a long time in getting my wife and I served. Starting off with our waters, usually we get our drinks immediately, but it seemed to have taken them 15 minutes and I had to flag someone down to take care of our waters. My wife and I were about to walk out until we got our appetizer. For dinner I ordered the Monte Cristo in which the food was good, but my wife ordered the salmon blackened in which it didn't look or taste like it was blackened. Needless to say we won't be going back to that location. read more

Ordered a ribeye and loaded baked potato. Pretty sure they served me the sirloin (which wasn't that good any how) and the "loaded" was just sad. A teaspoon of sour cream and a few shreds of cheddar cheese. Just sad. Would not return or recommend. read more

Been here twice. Croissant were good, but all other food was sub par. Cold mashed potatoes, flavorless steak, gray "green" beans, 2oz of chicken on chicken breast sandwich, pot pie delivered at the end of our meal, and on. I have been to several Cheddar's and loved the food and service there. However, this new one in Sugar Land disappointing. The waiters I had both times were nice but not super attentive and would leave us needing refills or needing plates cleared. The food is the worst disappointment. Often too greasy, lacking flavor, and I suspect most is frozen or from cans. I have had the same dishes at other locations where it was much better. Had a sandwich here that had a canned looking tomato and bread that did not match the menu description- it left a lot to be desired. No hostess was in the front to great me, stood there awhile before a waiter finally noticed me, and he sat me. this place is rough..dirty carpet, smelly table (chlorine), poor seating, cold/overcooked food, disgruntle employees, and poor service. With experience in FB it seems there is a total lack in management at this business. We enjoy a nice meal and figured we branch out and try a franchised type chain restaurant only to be thouroughly dissapointed. A few years back we went to the Cheddards in Katy, off I-10, close to Katie Mills and that was okay....this place needs an overhaul. read more

Well I don't know why this place only has 3 stars, it was a fantastic dining experience while remaining on the cheap side. The food was amazing, service was great and fast. You must, MUST, order the peach tea and also the butter croissants, had to actually order some to go because they are just so delicious. Although we waited nearly 20 minutes for a waitress to take our order the manager eventually came over and got a server for us. I ordered a salad and my husband order was chicken tender salad. I will say both were very fresh and crisp and the plus was a sweet croissant. We found out later that nearly half the staff was new and hadn't been fully trained. This created delay time as they didn't seem to know what to do. I would give them a week or so before returning. As a restaurateur customer service is key in keeping customers returning. read more

I love Cheddars, and the new location is really nice. Food was great, as usual. My only complaint is that the host staff is slightly rude. As we left, they were engaged in conversation with one another and failed to even acknowledge my family and me as we left the restaurant. On the other hand, one manager in particular is FANTASTIC! My son left his video game on the table two nights prior, and when I returned to see if they still had it, he greeted us with a huge smile, listened to what I wanted and proceeded to get the game immediately. Our third time there. Menu good, prices OK. Service slow. Wait long. Hubby liked his catfish. I ordered Hawaian Chicken salad. The chicken was burnt, bottom of plate swimming in some unknown liquid, left off pico, left off tortilla strips, roll did not come honey buttered but plain. The worst food I've ever had. I took my class to the Sugarland Museum of Natural Science today(May 6, 2013) and then lunch at CHEDDARS! This is always my favorite place to eat so when choosing a place to eat lunch of course I chose Cheddars! Our waiter Kevin was so attentive to us and prompt and very courteous. He took care of every need and gave us great service. I have 9 students with special needs and I was a little nervous about going to a restaurant not knowing how they would react...they were very good and everyone at Cheddars made us feel welcome and comfortable. I am so thankful for the waitstaff, managers and hostess today. The food was hot, delicious and fast! Thank you so much for our wonderful experience! Good food but service could use a lot of work. I have been here many times as it is close to home and does have good food. The place gets pretty busy so they get away with being a little sloppier than they should, a little less attentive than you would expect. Tables are often left less than clean and even sit without being cleared or wiped down for too long. The wait staff are polite , though a bit rough around the edges and often get orders wrong. They will bring wrond sodas, wrong orders, and not check in on you for too long of a period. All in all, this place has good food for decent price but expect to have pretty crappy service. read more

The two stars are for the good service that we had. That's the only thing that was good. We used to come here all the time and there were no problems with the food, it was always excellent. Today the painkiller drink (their specialty) was so bad I could not drink it. It was milky and there was so much shredded coconut in the drink instead of on the glass that I couldn't even sip through the straw. The portions have gotten dramatically smaller. We got maybe 20 French fries. The macaroni that we love and get every time was watery and soggy. Also, my favorite item from cheddars, the croissants were literally smothered in butter. I'm not sure what has happened in the few months of not being here but I'm not sure that we will come back. Very disappointed read more

I believe this will have been my fifth time to this location. I am always pleased with the quality and portions of food I receive and at such an affordable price. I chose to write this review thanks to a server by the name of KAYLA!!! She was amazing. As have all the servers I've had when visiting, I'm just sorry I can't remember their names to give them due credit. However, Kayla's name stuck with me because her service and attention to detail, it was on point. This place may just be casual dining. However, she made the experience and her presentation as if she were taking care of us at a fine dining restaurant. What I really enjoy is that the rest of the staff is always willing to help. Thank You Cheddars and Thank You Kayla!!! I WISH THEY HAD A MONTROSE/MIDTOWN LOCATION!!! But, I'm always happy to make the drive till I get one in my neighborhood. read more
