Well first let me do the food is good HOWEVER THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE!! We went to Cheddar's today for my daughter's birthday. And that was a big mistake. The lady who was in the front when we entered had they WORST attitude. We were asked to wait because they were busy. Which is fine I completely understand that. However people that came after us got seated before us. After I asked why the same lady found us a table. I asked for a booth because we had small children and a booth is easier. She had a problem with that. So we were seated at the booth. After about 20 minutes of no one coming to table I asked for a manager. Manager came apologized and took our order.... 20 minutes later no food only appetizers. We asked for ANOTHER MANAGER got a server who came and took our order. So after waiting for over an hour my daughter the birthday girl didn't get her meal( because the forgot to prepare it and had to make her food again) or her cookie we always get it. It was almost 11pm we walked in there before 9:30pm it's no way it should have taken that long. I really cannot believe this happened hoe do forget to put in my child's food she ordered first!!!! Service was slow. People who got seated after us got their meals before us. As far as the food goes, I had the steak/tender combo with sides of fries and coleslaw. I was happy to hear that SL was getting a Cheddars after a good experience at the Katy location, but man I was extremely disappointed both times I went to the SL location. The service is the absolute worst! I have been a server before and I know it's not an easy job, but their entire staff is so rude, even the management. No one should have to wait 20minutes for a glass of water or 45 minutes for your mediocre food. Good food but service is always slow at this location - not sure why. Cheddar's is a popular chain restaurant so the food is always consistently good and has a wide variety of American-style fare on the menu. You can't come here without ordering the honey butter croissants. They are delicious beyond belief! I rarely give any place a one star. Cheddars gets this star for its service and good margaritas. The food was abysmal. I had chicken fried chicken with green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, & Texas toast. My husband had the fried steak, with same sides as I had. He said his steak was mostly batter with a little meat. My fried chicken was ok. But the rest of the meal!!! The cooks were very heavy handed with the salt on all the sides. The sides were almost not eThe green beans were just mush, plus it tasted like sugar had been added, which was just strange. The Texas toast was Texas styrofoam. I am only putting 5 stars instead of 3 only bc when I come here and ask for Devin Glascock my time here is awesome. He gets my food in 20 mins or less with other servers it has taken longer not sure why. But with a restaurant like this where the food is cheap, with big portions and great tasting you have to expect a lot of customers. So I try to be understanding with other servers I get who aren't as good as Devin. Also I read ppl are mad that their food comes out wrong please don't think its always the servers fault bc with a cheap good restaurant I'm sure the cooks are cooking their butts off and make mistakes from time to time! I also read how their service is horrible and long which i have experienced with other servers. But I strongly recommend asking for Devin he is the best server there and will treat you like family. He is also a great bartender hes quick and knows you want to have good time so he makes sure you leave happy. I have referred 5 people including 3 friends to request him before they never return here and he has changed there minds! Also the Grilled Chicken Pecan salad is AMAZING and there grilled Salmon with burban sauce. I have to add that servers dont take home big pay check, every 2 weeks the highest I've heard of is $80 in TWO WEEKS worth of full time work and that is only bc their tips are low ($2-$5). And if they have good tips which average $10 and up there checks are $2 every 2 weeks. Please have consideration even if your service is bad that u still had someone do all kinds of work for u to eat with out cooking or cleaning. Tips aren't just for rating how good ur service was anymore ur tip money is there rent money..when u pay 50$ for ur meal none of that goes to ur server unless u tip! read more

The food is great, haven't had a problem with service. Except for my experience today - although our waitress was very kind and loved to chat with us, she had very poor hygiene. Her body odor as well as her breathe smelled atrocious. Hopefully she does something about it. This can make for a bad dining experience. Last time we were there, we were seated and had our drink order taken. Waiter then brought over my daughters cola and proceeded to dump it ALL on her lap. This was coke. Sticky. I have never had a bad experience with Cheddars we had great service and the food is always good. I was there like a week ago around 8 and a lady and her friends came in and the lady was beyond drunk (it was her birthday )and immediately began causing discomfort to all the families (many with kids) in the dining area by running into things, falling over, being loud , cursing, and intending to drink even more. Within like 15 min of her being there the servers alerted the manager and the manager informed her and her friends that intoxicated people are not allowed to eat at cheddars because it is a famly restaurant and asked her to leave. Wow, what a turn around for Cheddar's in my book. I've visited a location in Spring tx a few years ago where the experience was awful. This visit with my girlfriend was great! We were seated right away. Delicious food served quickly and attractively. Decent prices and well prepared dishes pleasantly surprised us. Servers were very sweet and attentive as well. I ate here on Monday with my mom and aunt to celebrate their birthdays. We had a pretty good experience thanks to our waitress, Vera, the kitchen manager, Leonard, and restaurant manager, Howard. We all enjoyed our meals for the most part and Vera showed excellent customer service. She was friendly and accommodating to all of our requests. When I asked the manager Howard about doing something special for the birthday girls, he said they don't do anything for birthdays at their restaurant. However, at the end of the meal, Leonard came out and introduced himself, asked us how we were enjoying our meal, said Happy Birthday and gave my mom and aunt each a bag of their fresh baked cookies to celebrate. I am grateful to Vera, Leonard & Howard for arranging that surprise even though they did not have to do anything! The downsides were that our cocktails (a strawberry margarita and an Island Tiki) seemed to have very little to no alcohol in them even though they tasted great and the bartender forgot to make my drink completely. After passing our table a few times and noticing I still didn't have my drink, Vera had to go to the bar and make it herself. Not sure why the bartender was unavailable when the restaurant was pretty empty...Also, my macaroni and cheese did not taste good. Cheddars does not even deserve one star based on our recent experience. It was awful from start to finish! Seemed like every time I passed this newly opened restaurant on Highway 6, it appeared busy. Now I know why, once you get seated you will never leave! To say their service is slow, is an understatement! Our table was dirty when we sat down. Once the waiter took our orders, we did not see him again until after our order arrived (missing half the items) about one hour later after we ordered it. This is unacceptable given that Cheddars was not crowded and this was during the week. When the food arrived, FINALLY, it was not hot. The meat and chicken dishes were extremely dry, fatty, rubbery and tasteless. The fries tasted like an entire canister of salt was dumped on it. Our orders came out without the sides we ordered as well as the condiments we requested. It took about 15 to 20 minutes after talking to our waiter reminding him that the sides did not come out with our orders. We also had to wave down our waiter to get a refill on our drinks. If you are looking for a restaurant to go to in Sugar Land, skip this place. You are much better off at McDonald's if you want edible food. read more

Terrible (Charles Barkley voice)!!!!!! Our party of 5 was directed to a table that had been cleared, but the floor was dirty. We stood around for 10 minutes while our waiter (1) waited on the broom ( he was holding a dustpan) (2) while other waitstaff stood around doing nothing, none came over to lend a hand to speed up cleaning process. (3) we spoke to the manager who said we could have free appetizers for our inconvenience (4) when check was delivered we had to speak to the manager AGAIN to have the charges for appetizers removed. I work in Sugar Land and this restaurant is often used by the our organization. I think this will no longer be the case. The food is pretty good and the prices are reasonable. The service is another thing. I have never received such bad service at any other place. I see servers standing around in little groups, but not serving customers. If you want a refill on your ice tea, forget it. The tea will come to you after you're done in a to go cup. I asked several times and finally got an attitude from the waiter. We were excited to try this restaurant out. I just left and very upset. It took a while for my server to get to the table, then when she did she was nice. What ruined it was that she never brought what SHE offered. I asked for a corona she said "do you want salt and lime?" I said yes even repeated it. Both times she brought my corona with lemon. Then I asked for mustard it didnt come until i was half way done with my burger. She then asked if i wanted apple juice with my child's kids meal i said no but she said it came with the meal. I said okay thats fine. Guess what it never came. I was there atleast 45 min. The party of 6 next to us bussed there own tables. They moved all their plates to the table behind them. Never once did their server or manager pick up those dirty plates. I thought they were close to closing when I left because there were at least 8 tables that were dirty. Guess what they have 1 1/2hr before they close. To top it all off no one acknowledges you from the staff. You better move out of their way or they will run you over. read more

I love Cheddar's but had my first awful experience last night. First, waiter put in our order 25 minutes after we placed it. I ordered the tilapia with shrimp and some kind of mango slaw, no rice. I am on the Atkins therefore, can't eat rice. After our server came back to let us know he was late in placing our order bc he forgot, he even confirmed the "no rice". We got our meals about 50 minutes after we ordered. My dish was served over a bed or rice. A friend I was with ordered the buffalo tenders with fries. Brought a plate of soggy tenders without fries and at that moment was when our friend got informed they were out of fries. My plate was taken back since it was on a bed or rice. He comes back with the same dish, without rice. But there were still multiple grains of rice on my plate. My fish was slid off onto a new plate. And the fish, shrimp, and side of broccoli were COLD. And he forgot to bring my other side. My coleslaw was the tastiest thing I had ordered. The server knew we weren't thrilled. Didn't send over a manager, nothing. Since it was my friend's birthday, I didn't want to ruin her evening by complaining although I should have. Anyway, I will not be returning to that location anytime soon. Shame. read more

I dined here last night with my family. We had a very nice time. I ordered the Cajun Pasta and my husband had the lemon pepper chicken with seasoned rice. The third person in my party ordered the ribs and shrimp combo. For an appetizer we had the spinach artichoke dip that also came with a small bowl of salsa and tortilla chips. I also had a salad with a honey butter croissant. The croissant was slightly sweet and very flaky. Honestly, it was so much food and the portions were huge! When my husband takes home a carryout then truly the portions were large. Since, it was a special occasion, we also ordered a monster cookie dessert(skillet cookie with ice cream) that was very good! The parking is ample, we were seated promptly and we had an awesome server in Viviana. She was very attentive and sweet. Lastly, the prices are very reasonable. The corn dogs were soft on the outside rather than crunchy/textured... the fries were just flimsy as if one left them in the fridge only to take them out and heat them back up... the food was just not worth the price paid for. I didn't really like how grease and fattening everything tasted -- everything was so filling and dense. All the food seemed as if it were merely frozen and heated up.
