Always new servers and they get worse every time!!! We have always loved cheddars due to good food and good prices.. but the quality lately is lacking and the service is HORRIBLE! This place is HORRIBLE. Their drink machine was broken. So the employees suggested that we have our drinks on "rocks" so we did. The drinks were absolutely E MESS.com. So we get our food I ordered chicken fried steak No gravy received my food and OMG holy crap I had gravy on my chicken fried steak Texas toast was hard as a rock. The waitress "forgot" the honey buttered croissants & when we did get them they were soggy. I didn't even finish my long islands Ice tea that was substituted for my original beverage. Watched the some other server take my food out to another table set it down and the argue weather or not my food was theirs. Then they took it back and came back long enough for them to reheat and fix any figuration that might have happened with the other customers. Sadly they failed at that my food came out like warm and stale French fries but I did not say anything to not embarrass my friends who all have the same opinion sad thing I'm stuck with the bill of mediocre Luke warm food of four people. This is the 4th time I've come here and the service was TERRIBLE. Their margarita machine was down for 4 months. They are always out of food or the food is always served cold! This particular time, they were out of mash potatoes, tilapia and SPINACH DIP. Of all things!! So I had to change what I had my tastebuds set for. I ordered the philly with loaded fries. I got my food and it was cold. It took another 25 min for the bartender to come back so I could tell her my food was COLD when it was brought to me. Disappointed to say the least. So if I could give it no stars I would. Probably won't ever be back because of what just happened. Was looking to grab some dinner with my boyfriend before our movie. Had to wait a while for a table but being a Saturday night and seating capacity limited that's more than understandable. HOWEVER, we sat at the table for several minutes until a manager had to ask if we'd been helped. I told her no, there was another several minutes before our server finally appeared. No "I'm sorry about the wait" no "hi how are you". Just are you ready to order your drinks and food? So since we were pressed for time we went ahead and ordered everything. She then took the order of the table next to us. We waited forever for drinks. She brought food to our table that wasn't ours and never came back to let us know when ours would be out. Waited over 20 minutes for his side salad. When she finally brought his salad I asked for to go boxes because we were in a rush. She then immediately brought our order packed up to go like she was trying to get us out. We were so frustrated that we just paid and took our food to the car. He had ordered his fries with bacon and cheese and they were plain and cold. I ordered a side of broccoli rice casserole that looked like it had been under a lamp for an hour. I left the following review on the Cheddar's website and emailed it to a contact person that I had communication with from a previous bad experience. However, this time I'm received no response. So here it is:We walked out. We went to Cheddars for a late lunch on Saturday. We have always loved Cheddars, despite some hit and miss experiences lately. We had a bad experience in December, then a really great time in January. Well, I guess it's every other month, because our visit yesterday SUCKED! We arrived, didn't look too busy or crowded. We were greeted and told about a 5 minute wait. Great! Got seated and were all ready for another great dining experience. Our waiter came, took our drink orders and at the time we didn't order an appetizer. When he came back, with out our drinks by the way, we told him we wanted an onion ring appetizer. He said he was waiting on bartender for our drinks. He went ahead and took our meal order at that time too. BTW, what the hell is the deal not including fries with a burger on your menu. That is pretty standard. I didn't order fries. A bit later, he returned with my wife's side salad for her meal. No drinks. No onion rings. BTW. No glasses of water by this time either. He left, and we didn't see him for a long time. We realized that we'd usually have water to drink by this time. I got up and asked the first waitress I saw about getting some waters. She asked me three times which table we were at. She said she'd get us some water. When she brought them, it was almost with a begrudging attitude. No straws included. Our waiter was taking orders at a nearby table, and he almost walked by without even checking on us. We stopped him and asked about our drinks. He said he was still waiting on the bartender! Unacceptable! We emphasized that we wanted our drinks. Then we sat there. My wife enjoying her salad and me my water. Lame. We waited and waited. This was a repeat of our visit in December. At that time we almost left because service was so bad. Today we did leave. We were fed up. All our waiter did was make us wait. He never served us, so can't call him a server. Is it so hard to get things served in a timely manner? You take drink orders, you take appetizer order. You bring drinks. You bring appetizer before the meal or any side salads. You time things so that meal arrives after guest has had time to eat appetizer. If we need to pay you for the salad that my wife got, feel free to let me know. But we sure are going to think twice if not three times before we choose to come back to Cheddars for a meal out. It's just so disappointing and frustrating to not know what kind of experience we're going to get when we come to Cheddars. I just want to start off by saying my family and I love Cheddar's. We were in Tyler for both graduation (from Houston) and decided to go eat at Cheddar's on Saturday 06/02. We did have a large party so we knew we were going to have a longer than usual wait time, which was fine. We were told by the hostess and the manager Aaron the wait would be an hour unless we were willing to be separated. Being separated wasn't an issue so we told them that was fine. Well after an hour and a half we were wondering what was taking so long. The hostess informed us that they were waiting on a party of 20 to leave in order to seat us. The party was just sitting there talking so they didn't know how much longer. At this point it is almost 11 pm. My cousin saw an area big enough for us open and clean and requested to be seated and was told no, but they would ask the manager. Aaron then came back up front. My cousin was asking his questions about the wait and what he originally said about separating us and he completely denied what we all heard. He was so rude and condescending I will never eat there again. He did not conduct himself as a manager should in a situation like this. He wasn't accommodating or apologetic. He was even shrugging his shoulders as if to say "whatever" when asked for the corporate number and if that is how he treats customers. So I called the number he provided and it is the Darden IT department NOT a corporate number. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because our waiter/server/chef Cedric was AMAZING!!!! He apologized which is what the manager should of done and told us he would do his best to make the experience better. He was also standing there when the manager was so rude. This has been my favorite place to eat for years.The fried shrimp, was better than any seafood place,you could eat.They have now changed brands.Terrible choice. They are now smaller and tough. I'm sure they can purchase these small, tasteless pieces of small battered rubber,much cheaper .Why else would they change? Came here to eat Lunch with my friend and mom and it was the worst service ever. Our server was Tony. We were sat in the lounge right INFRONT of the bar and bartender and It took 5 minutes for someone to even acknowledge that we were there. THEN when we only ordered 3 waters it took another 10 minutes just to get those delivered. Once we finally got the food our drinks stayed empty for atleast 10-12 minutes!! This whole time.. The bartender ( that had no one at the bar) had made eye contact with me and saw that we were looking around for our server and did NOTHING except get on his cell phone. On top of the awful service, the floor and everything around us was completely disgusting. All in all.. We only saw our server about 3 times the whole visit. On April 20,2015 I dined at cheddar a in Tyler, Tx and had the worst experience I have ever had at any resturant. I have even worked for cheddars in fairview heights, IL. At 8:11pm I arrived and said we have a party of 9 possibly 12 and the hostess rolled her eyes. The resturant looked empty maybe 10 tables in the entire establishment. With 7 servers. I Waited 25mins to be seated at a dirty table. I didn't complain it was late and we were hungry. Ordered at 8:45 got our appetizer before our waters and lemonades and 1 margarita. It took 45mins for our food to come out. The table behind us sat down 15mins after us and got their food before us. My kid (who shouldn't have been out late but we drove from out of town st.louis mo) didn't get her grilled cheese and Mac n cheese till I spoke with the manager about how unhappy we were he said he took it off the bill and when the bill came it was still on there. I told the waiter and he said he would fix it and I still got charged. I just don't understand how a corporate resturant can be so inadequate. The hostess were rude and making comments my kids were upset that other tables were getting served when they ordered before them. & that the food came out cold we ordered chicken nachos, buffalo wrap, chicken fingers, grilled cheese and Mac n cheese. This was the first time my wife and I have eaten at a Cheddar's restaurant. Don't know maybe it is this location but what we encountered was nowhere near a great experience. Though we were quickly seated at our table. It took awhile to get our drink prefer. The ambience of the restaurant sing to be a little off. Once we ordered our drinks we ordered an appetizer. In which the appetizer was really good. We ordered our entrees nothing out of the ordinary chicken fried steak and steak and shrimp. When placing my order. I asked my steak to be prepared medium rare. It took about 30 minutes for food to arrive to our table but at that time I noticed that my steak was overcooked. The waitress was prompt to take it back and get it fixed. Food was a little bland didn't really taste well. I was surprised we do not have a manager come and check up on us while we were eating. But we did notice a man stopping at other tables but never ours. We may think twice at stopping at another location in the future. read more

Ordered the appetizer trio and after waiting a few minutes we ordered two pasta dishes. Appetizers came out and, less than two minutes later, the pasta dishes were delivered - we had barely touched the appetizers. We haven't been to this place in years and our last experience was pretty bad so tonight, I decided- let's give them another try! Boy, was I WRONG. Everything we had (salad, appetizer, and both entrees) was complete garbage! I ordered the chicken alfredo pasta, thinking it should be pretty hard for them to mess up noodles in sauce. I wish I would have taken a picture, because my plate came out with the DRIEST noodles I have ever seen. No sauce whatsoever. I ask for more, and once I tried it...let's just say, I nearly had to use a knife to saw through one of the noodles. They were so rubbery, hard and GROSS! I asked the person I was with to try it for a second opinion and they agreed it was very hard to even chew. Went here tonight even after reading the other reviews. The food is good. I had the battered shrimp with French fries ,coleslaw and added a house salad. The wife had Blacken red fish with crap sauce , load bake potato and cheese broccoli casserole. The shrimp was great battered very well not to much and not to little. Fries was cold when they came out. Coleslaw well I have had better and I have had worst. The red fish was dry but that the way blacken fish is. Did not enough crap sauce to really help that out. The cheese broccoli casserole was ok. But now we come to the problem. Was told that the bake potato would be out in a few mins after they brought us our food. Then was told that they would not have any bake potato and was asked to order something else. The wife said she would take a salad. then the bake potato bake potato cake out. So as a lot of other people said on here it seems that is the problem. They just don't prep enough for the weekdays. Talked to a manager he said he had no excuse for why this happen and he is right. He said that he will work in getting better that he has not been in the Tyler store that long. So we will see. If things get better I will move the stars up accordingly. Seated as soon a we walked in. Waiter was quick to get to us and wanted to take our order as soon as we were seated. We had not had time to even start looking at the menu. When he returned with our drinks we ordered a appetizer and advised the waiter we would order entrees after the appetizer arrived. We waited....After awhile a different waitperson came by and asked if we were ready to order and we advised that we were waiting for a appetizer. She advised that she would check on it. We waited....I was about to get up and leave when the waiter came by and advised that he made a mistake and the appetizer would be right out. We waited....Finally the appetizer came and we placed entree orders and they came right out real fast. My wife ordered the Spasagna and it was a pile pasta with a thick sauce delivered not hot. My wife and I have eaten here several times, as it is not too far from our house. The restaurant is usually clean and well kept. The food is almost always 4-5 star, but the service is some of the worst you can get in Tyler. This baffles me because they seem to have so many servers. It is not uncommon for your drink to stay empty through the duration of your meal. Little things like crackers or a side of ranch are often forgotten, then take forever to arrive when brought to the attention of your server. The handful of times that we have phoned in orders, they have yet to get one 100% correct. I understand that people can have off days, but repeated visits yield the same results. We would definitely eat here more often if the service improved, but after eating here off and on for ~7 years, I'm not holding my breath. read more

This was quite possibly the worst service I've ever had. We waited 20 minutes after being seated before our waitress could drag herself away from where she was chatting with other servers (who had their own table and were eating) and take our drink/food order. Food took another 30 minutes to arrive and it was lukewarm. Instead of refilling our tea and water from pitchers, she brought out glasses of room temperature beverages with no ice. We waited 15 minutes after she brought us the bill for her to come run our cards. Meanwhile, we watched her chat with other wait staff and hang out at the table across from us where other servers had congregated. While we were there, an older couple was also seated in her section, but after waiting 15 minutes, they left without her ever having seen them. And it wasn't as if the restaurant was that busy--we arrived at 1430, so well after the lunch rush. When we complained to the hostess on the way out, she just shrugged and when we asked for the manager's contact info, she didn't offer it or even offer to go find him. We gave Cheddar's a second try 2 years after a bad experience with a waitress. This time, we were asked if we wanted a booth or table. Booth, "Well, the only booth they have is half booth, half chairs". Let's see it then. It was unacceptable, but the waitress said there were no other booths available as there was no wait staff for anywhere else in the restaurant. OK then, we ordered our drinks, and before the waitress had walked 10', 2 people (just like us) were setted at a booth behind us. So, we decided to leave, but wanted to complain to a manager first. I really don't understand her explanation that there wasn't wait staff for that table as they had put people there. The waitress was very nice and said she would seat us at a booth, but we didn't trust they wouldn't spit in our food or something after we complained, so we left, never to return. read more

Me & my husband always joke about how, despite the fact this is a chain, this is the best restaurant Tyler, TX has to offer. Ridiculously cheap prices & quality EVERY time. Yes, we have had to send our food back a couple of times, but let me explain: Cheddar's has an amazing burger, but cooked medium. By that I mean it is an average burger unless cooked to medium, in which case it turns amazing! I'm not adamant about having my burgers medium most places, but typically I don't order burgers in general. Cheddar's is the exception. Now, we consider ourselves foodies & can be pretty snobbish about it... but please let me tell you: we go out to eat OFTEN & Cheddar's is the ONLY place guaranteed to make us happy. Their queso is very flavourful & the beef they add is spiced just perfectly. Fries crispy & delicious every time. Chicken strips juicy every time. Shrimp yummy. I like their CFS & pot pie a lot but am guilty of getting the chicken strips almost every time... even though I love crazy flavours & trying new things. It's THAT good to me! I have to add a little salt as they don't season the chicken very well... but most places are pretty conservative with salt (understandably.) Anyway. This is my "love letter" to Cheddar's in Tyler. Food came out cold TWICE and manager was acting as if we were looking for free food ( the table next to us received their food 10min before we did and they ordered after us) I can only imagine how long the food was sitting there. We politely declined the managers offer for free appetizers. Which was her effort to pacify us. My order was very simple: grilled salmon with mac and cheese and green beans. The server didn't even offer to refill our drinks, we had to ask for everything including utensils. My husband travels often and have visited Cheddar's in other states. Went there with a party of six, took a while to be seated, but once we were the service was solid and very friendly. My meal, a club sandwich, was subpar with litle taste and very thin sliced, grocery store quality (at the best) meat and cheese that tasted like it had been sitting out for a while and was actually limp. When I first started eating here, everything was great! But then after the 4th or 5th visit, it all started going downhill. The last time I ordered to go, things didn't go as expected. Had made a call in order and the hostess had placed it. Then, when I went to go pick it up. They said they couldn't find it and no one had placed the order. Turns out a thick girl (waitress) that would constantly make a smirk the last times I've gone to get takeout had told the hostess to give her my order that the hostess wrote down and threw the paper in the trash and not place it. So then the person who attended me went and placed the order immediately before I could say that it's okay and just get lunch elsewhere. And then still charged me. Not well service at this place at all. They need new and well-mannered staff. Yelp should really start allowing people to give 0 stars because that's what this place deserves. My wife and I went to Cheddars on a Friday night about two weeks ago. We normally go around 5:30 pm so we got seated fairly quickly. We waited about 10 minutes before a waitress came to the table to get our drink order. As usual we just order water. After sitting another 15 minutes and not receiving our drinks we got up and left. This is not our first experience with bad service at this location. Even a manager forgot our order on one visit because our waitress left after we ordered our food. Cheddars used to be my family's go to spot but the last 3 times we've been there it has been it has been absolutely HORRIBLE.. 1st time we had a table of 5 we got seating and waited 30 min. and DIDN'T get a waiter and people were constantly walking past us and never bothered to ask if we had been helped, well we went and grabbed one of the hostess to let them know we still dont have a waiter & STILL NOTHING so we got up and walked out. Next time It was my fiance, our daughter and myself, we waited to be seated which was no problem but when we got seated we waited at least 20 min. before we got a waiter and it took 15 min. to get drinks and & 40 min. to bring out food out. Last time which was last night we had a party of 20, and my brother-in law called ahead and time to let them know we were coming and whoever he spoke with over the phone gave the ok and said our seats were saved BUT WE GET THERE AND THEY TELL US ITS A HOUR AND A HALF WAIT BUT THE WHOLE BACK ROOM WAS VACANT.
