I can't imagine this place getting bad reviews. The food is great, prices are reasonable and service is usually good. I have noticed a drop though in the service over the last year. I think it is due to all these new restaurants in the area taking all the great servers. By the way I eat there at least 2 times a month. I LOVE their Maui Margaritas. Absolute worst service and food I've ever had in my life. After 10 yrs of working in the food industry- I realize I expect more but we finally have left after 2 hours of basically sitting and waiting. They sat 8 and a highchair at a booth for 6. Finally moved us... to a smaller table top. Food took forever to come out and was cold. I ordered the chicken baja and got something that looked like pig slop. It was cold, had chunks of potato in it, the chicken was cold, burnt and dry. When I sent it back and reordered I waited about 45 minutes for my replacement entree... Everyone else was done choking down their awful lunches by the time I had to hunt our waitress down and tell her to forget it. Never again. Chicken Alfredo has broccoli and carrots in it. Both veggies cold. Carrots mushy. Broccoli was raw hard as a tree trunk. Cajun was also very good just served at room temperature. Oh well. This was the worst experience ever! I was with my wife and 2 year old daughter. We got sat right away by nice waitress. We sat down right at 11:50, before the church crowd. About ten minutes later we finally got our drinks and ordered appetizer. We got the croissants about 12:15 and ordered our lunch. We didn't get our food until 12:50! They barely delivered our salad right before our lunch was served. It was the worst experience ever and we had a very hungry daughter that doesn't understand. Waited over 40 minutes for food! We have been here a lot in the past but only once since Covid. The food is good and the prices are about average for a restaurant. I used to order the salmon but the price went up on it so I started trying some of the other meals. My kids love the chicken tenders and fries and my husband loves the burgers. Seating was quick, service quick, order received in reasonable time. Almost through ribs when Sherrie said her ribs were very dry. I tasted hers and it was like eating slightly damp caulk. Justin came iver (he is good, kept his head in a swivel), heard our complaint and went to the manager who showed up quickly. Tokd us he was surprised (as were we), and immediately went to get another plate. I continued to eat mine and the very end there was a small piece which had the same problem but not as bad. We have never had a bad visit at Cheddars UNTIL NOW. Cheddars in Tyler was terrible from the minute we were seated. The chairs were greasy and I had to ask for a manger after three servers were asked for a rag and not one of them came back leaving us standing for several minutes. Once they finally wiped our chairs, they left them pretty wet so that we had to use our dinner napkins to dry the seats before we could sit. The menus had food, sticky stuff, and heaven only knows what else on them. Asked the server to split our chicken fry in the back to avoid having a mess with the gravy. They brought it out on one plate with an extra plate underneath. We asked them to take the plate to the back and split it. The server returned with the same exact plate except the steak had been cut in half and extra plate was still underneath. I could have done that! I asked before ordering if the broccoli had rice in it and was told that it was only broccoli and cheese. It was full of rice. When I told the server she just said, "oh, sorry" and never asked if we wanted anything different. The chicken fry was way too salty. We had the spinach dip appetizer and the chips literally had a pool of grease on the plate underneath. It was just bad service and bad food from the beginning. The manager never came back the see if everything was better. We won't be back. After discussing the experience further with my husband when we got back home, I decided that maybe the restaurant deserved another chance so I called back and spoke with Beau who answered the phone and was the GM. He asked to send me a gift card and wanted us to give him a second try. I explained that even other yelp reviewers were uncomplimentary and he really should go look for himself, I agreed to accept his offer and try them again in the future after they have had some time to retrain and fix things. I will usually voice my concerns and not leave a review if the service is bad, and go out of my way to tell everyone about excellent service which is how I built up this restaurant before we picked their to eat. The food was good.. but our server acted like our presence was the biggest inconvenience to his day, as soon as we sat down. Cheddar's in Tyler, TX provided poor customer service and the manager followed me out of the building claiming I had to pay for another parties food items because they sat at table with me. He even went as for as taking pictures of the license plate of my car with his cell phone and said he was going to call the police.I waited for him to call the police and insisted that he did, as I had did nothing wrong. I paid my bill in full, even though the wait was long and the food was cold. He argued with me that he would call the authorities if I didn't take care of another parties bill or let him know there whereabouts. I literally waited for 10 -15 minutes to pay my bill and an additional 5 for the waitress to return with my card.  I have filed a report with BBB and Cheddars corporate Headquarters. I used to eat here all the time, but I came here once and there was a pesky problem crawling on the booth (if you know what I mean) and so I was assured that the problem would be taken care of...so I didn't go back for a long time. Cheddar's is a very nice family and allergy friendly restaurant. Cory my server on Sunday, July 30, 2017 was very friendly and ensured my child with allergies had his special food prepared to satisfaction. He also ensured my middle son who accidently dropped his chicken on the floor received fresh hot chicken. Cory was very attentive to all our needs and made our visit to Cheddar's enjoyable. I have lived in Tyler for a year now and this is the 3rd time I have attempted eating here, each time the service has been terrible. I mean absolutely terrible. This will be my last effort. I will not recommend to friends or family visiting the area. The staff never seems bothered by the fact that I have now been at my table for 10 min and no one has even come to take my drink order. The last time I was here same thing. When you speak to someone it's always "I'm sorry I was busy" and the service continues to be terrible your entire meal. I have not eaten at this location in a long time. I generally like cheddar's as a chain place, however the visit was less than desirable. We went for a late lunch at 1pm and it was about 2/3 full. We were seated and our wait person came to get our drink order. There were 6 drinks and he got the order correct. It started well, except when he delivered the drinks he spills my son's in his lap. Luckily my 7 year old is nimble of foot (or butt in this case) and did not become soaked. The waiter apologized and went to get another one. Normally I would say well done, except he did not give us napkins or silverware to begin with so we had nothing to clean with. We had to wait for him to come back for a towel or napkin. After we cleaned my son, we waited, and waited, and waited. The waiter finally came back and took our food order. We stumped him by asking for chips and salsa first, as an appetizer. He stated most people order an appetizer either with their drinks or as a meal. He hadn't had anyone order an appetizer with their lunch order and not want it as a meal. That took him a while to compute before he moved on. At this time we all needed refills that we had to ask about. So instead of refilling, he brought us a new glass. Which is fine, except he never took the extra empty glasses. We had to ask a passing busboy to take them. When they brought our food, everybody's showed except the kid with Dr Pepper in his lap. I had to flag down the waiter to see where his food could have been. He went to check and found it. It apparently was separate in the window and wasn't picked up by the runner. Luckily chicken strips stay for a while. At this time I had to ask for the manager. She was very polite and talked to us for a while. She was willing to give us a free dessert. She took our order, which was a cookie, ice cream thing with fudge and whip cream. The same kid was going to get it since he had such a crappy experience. He asked for "no whip cream". Guess what came on his dessert? Correct again, whip cream. I told the same waiter who has screwed everything up and he threw the manager under the bus. We got to keep the messed up one and my son got his after we had finished the first one. I gave 2 stars due to the fact that most cheddar's are pretty good as far as chains go, however stay away from the Tyler location. read more

I'm new to Tyler and this place is always packed so I figured... good food. Its really loud inside so do not pick this place for a lunch meeting and its so packed dont try to go there on a short break. For the most part the menu is standard restaurant fare nothing you can't get any other place in town but its really cheap (at least by my standards) and you get a ton of food for the price if that's important to you. They have these sweet deals on Texas sized (that means 'big') margaritas for $2.50 which are pretty good. The service every time I go there leaves a lot to be desired as the first time I went the hostesses somehow lost my name on the list and sat the entire room of waiting folks before me and finally came over and asked for my name again and looked at each other like ooop ...wasn't impressed with that. And speaking of the wait at the door ... make a reservation or try to call ahead because the wait seems to average 30 minutes during the afternoons. The servers seem to excel in sticking it to the customer and busboy by typically leaving dirty dishes on the tables in front of people who try to shove the plates to the edge to get rid of them and yet there the dishes sit during the remainder of their dining experience. The patio area of the restaurant is very well done with a large fountain/waterfall and some outside BBQ thing but dining in the parking lot in front of a major route isn't exactly my prefrence. The majority of the customers in the restaurant I find are older people and really younger teens-twentysomethings so if you're interested in keeping your car ding-free park as far from the main flow of traffic as possible and as it happens today at Cheddars someone backed into a car there lol... All in all I reccomend this place for munchies in the bar and drinks with your friends its not the kinda place to enjoy time dining. read more

Usually, it's what you expect and if you can catch them non prime time, you can get in pretty quickly but if you try a Saturday night or Sunday after church, you might as well move along because it will take forever to get a table. Went there today at about 3p.m. and they were a little busy. Got sat at a table right away, but sat there for 10 minutes without anyone even coming by to get a drink order. There were 6 servers standing at the computer 10 feet in front of us and not even one acknowledged us. They were just talking amongst themselves. Saw a table across the way get sat and greeted and still no one came by. I have been in the food industry for over 10 years and know how it should be ran, and they do not do it. Watched the some other server take my food out to another table set it down and the argue weather or not my food was theirs. This is the 4th time I've come here and the service was TERRIBLE. Their margarita machine was down for 4 months. They are always out of food or the food is always served cold! So if I could give it no stars I would. Probably won't ever be back because of what just happened. Was looking to grab some dinner with my boyfriend before our movie. Had to wait a while for a table but being a Saturday night and seating capacity limited that's more than understandable. HOWEVER, we sat at the table for several minutes until a manager had to ask if we'd been helped. I told her no, there was another several minutes before our server finally appeared. No "I'm sorry about the wait" no "hi how are you". Just are you ready to order your drinks and food? So since we were pressed for time we went ahead and ordered everything. She then took the order of the table next to us. We waited forever for drinks. She brought food to our table that wasn't ours and never came back to let us know when ours would be out. Waited over 20 minutes for his side salad. When she finally brought his salad I asked for to go boxes because we were in a rush. She then immediately brought our order packed up to go like she was trying to get us out. We were so frustrated that we just paid and took our food to the car. He had ordered his fries with bacon and cheese and they were plain and cold. I ordered a side of broccoli rice casserole that looked like it had been under a lamp for an hour.
