Did I mention that I LOOOVE Cheeburger, Cheeburger?! Well I do! It's one of my favorite burger joints, and burgers is what they do best. I lied, burgers, onion rings and milkshakes are what they do best! Every Sanibel vacation includes a few visits here and while the service can be hit or miss, the majority of the servers are awesome and provide great service. My fave meal here is the semi-serious burger with bacon, pepper jack cheese, mayo, an onion ring and jalapeños; small onion rings (they are large enough to share); and a chocolate peanut butter shake. It's a meal fit for a Queen, as they use the freshest ingredients and everything is tasty! If you prefer something healthier, they offer that too! There are salads, wraps, veggie burgers, chicken sandwiches etc. This is truly a great spot for family meals, and my only criticism is the fact that they nickel and dime you for sauces and some of the burger toppings. I think .99 for grilled onions and 1.99 for mushrooms is a bit much. I understand paying extra for bacon, but veggies should be included. Having said that, it's still one of the most affordable places to eat on the island. If you do visit, don't forget to take a pic with the larger than life stuffed cheeburger! read more

Loved my burger! Taste was spot on. I had the 11.99 named: the serious. -ordered my burger with the regular lettuce , tomato, onion and sauces on the side. I wanted to taste the burger not slather it in sauces. Awesome , satisfying, huge and delicious. The beer battered mushrooms and onion rings are a must have - Divine ! totally shareable . Warning: why have a specialty burger restaurant, and then not cook to taste? Medium, to me, is ruined. I'm more likely to get sick from the lettuce or tomatoes than undercooked ground beef. So- I couldn't even sample the signature dishes. I had fried mushrooms, which were very good. Huge portion. A cherry shake. Very good. Grilled cheddar and Bleu cheese sandwich. Good. A trip to Sanibel wouldn't be complete without a trip to Cheeburger. It is a laid back burger joint with great shakes, but you get to call the shots on all the details. I had a "semi-serious" burger on a kaiser roll with pepper jack cheese, pineapple, and teriyaki sauce... perfect. Our server brought some extra teriyaki on side - I hadn't asked for it, but was glad he brought it and thought it was a nice touch of good service. The fries were just crispy enough with a creamy center and a hint of their special seasoning mix. I dinged them one star because the bathrooms really could have been cleaner. All that aside, we had a great dinner as expected. Visits like this are why when I am shoveling snow in the dead of winter, I will sometimes close my eyes and imagine I'm walking into Cheeburger for a delicious taste of Sanibel. read more

We hit Cheeburger Cheeburger up every time we visit the island. After a long day on the beach, we arrived around 740pm along with another couple. As we entered, the hostess walked off and out the front door. We stood at the hostess station for around 5 minutes with no acknowledgment from any employee. The other couple walked out. Finally an employee that was working the togo orders came over and told us they were no longer seating customers but we could place a togo order. We placed an order and it was ready in about 20 minutes. The burger and fried pickles were excellent. The fries in house are very good but they do not travel well on a togo order. Was one of the best burgers I've had. They have more topping options than pizza places have for pizzas. Onion rings and fries are also very good. The restaurant could use a bit of touching up here and there - it feels like it's a bit unloved (however the food is very loved) Kid friendly for sure - and the challenges are always fun to think about doing. Ah, Cheeburger Cheeburger, you have lost your touch over the years. The food has remained the same, which is par for what you pay for. Service was good this visit around. I feel this establishment needs a make over and badly. The pink walls contrasted with the bare wood....old, rusted and cracked chairs. Nails sticking up in the window frames (watch the kiddos hands) and a lot of dead bugs. Betty Boop everywhere(not sure of the correlation between burgers and Betty Boop). If this place is trying for a diner theme, it's not coming across well. I'd hope to find some improvements on cleanliness and appearance. This place is an unorganized mess. We placed an order on line and waited for an hour. Upon arrival to pick up our order they never put the order in. Told us it was going to be another 15-20 minutes to get our order. No communications, the servers were literally ignoring me because they knew they had messed up. Approached the gentleman who was trying to put our order in and I asked him what was up. He said that somehow the order was never put in. OK....told him to cancel an we went down the street to Lazy Flamingo which is always awesome. Avoid unless you like chaos. read more

We have been patrons of Cheeburger for too many years to count. The past few years we noticed that the service has been extremely slow. Today was the final straw and we won't be going back. Our orders were burgers, a chicken sandwich and basket of fries/onion rings. There were hardly any customers in the restaurant but our food took 40 minutes to arrive and the fries/rings were lukewarm at best and one of the burgers was incorrect with a completely soggy bun. When we mentioned this to the server delivering our food his comment was "I just pick up the food and deliver it; it's not my problem". There you have it. There are too many other consistently good restaurants to visit with employees without attitude. read more

We waited 25 minutes at the take out station for two cups of coffee and one malt. We ended up leaving, the employee knew we were trying to catch the sunset, so we said we would be back in 20 mins. When we got back he handed us two cold coffees and a melted shake. Not cool. read more

Great burger place with amazing toppings. Cool restaurant with one of a kind ambiance. Veggie burger is fried and crunchy, extremely tasty. Loved the guacamole on it and crushed garlic and cheese. The guacamole made the burger and bun so moist. The bun by itself was a little hard and old. Fries and mushrooms and onion rings were good too, unique batter, little greasy, but it is a burger place. There are so many burger toppings to choose from, peanut butter, egg, garlic, etc. etc. etc., mostly free. The place is a little old and the carpet could use a refresh along with bathrooms, but it is a wooden octagon with windows all over and huge ceilings, all wood, awesome. Limited vegetarian options. Pretty much the veggie patty burger and the portobello burger. The good: Good choices of bread-I had rye and it was very good. You can have as many toppings as you want: pineapple, olive, fried onion, etc. Great shakes. The bad: potato fries, onion rings, portobello strips-all are fried in the same fryer as the meat, making them no longer suitable for vegetarians. Came here on a Monday night for dinner and the restaurant was doing take-out orders only. I ordered a 1/3 lb breakfast burger with a side of French fries. The pickles/onions were not fresh and low quality while the beef patty (cooked medium) tasted super mediocre. The French fries - which cost $3.99! - came in a small portion and were dry, unsalted, over cooked and totally void of flavor. This extremely average burger & fries meal ended up costing me around $16 and was definitely not worth the price. read more

Our burgers were very good, we actually ordered takeout 3 times here as it was a delicious and affordable way to feed a large family on the island. I can only leave a 3 star review because it's chaos in there. The first night we ordered we were unaware and when we went to pickup our order we were told "it'll be ready in 10 minutes". 45 minutes later us and the poor couple in front of us who ordered only 2 milkshakes were still waiting with no one in sight to even ask. Milkshakes were sitting on the counter melting waiting to be taken, a waitress was in the corner on her phone, 3 employees were gathered at the front desk chatting while the guys making milkshakes were busting their butts just to keep Up with the orders. When we finally flagged a guy down he went to the back and appeared with our order that was by now cold and soggy and had clearly been sitting for awhile. Both times we returned after that the atmosphere was exactly the same only we stood at the counter and repeatedly asked for our food because we knew no one was checking on the takeout orders.
