Overall, a good place, but nothing really stood out too much and it may just personal preference, but it was a bit greasy for my normal tastes. This place is seriously the only place where I can find Okonomiyaki in Seattle. Nicely decorated with light vibrant colors, the interior of this little cafe is very welcoming and playful. Their staff and chefs are very nice and will answer any questions you have about their menu. I had their Okonomiyaki and it very similar to ones I had in this traditional Japanese restaurant in Canada. The dish comes with two of these savory pancakes. I was only able to eat only one and brought the other one home to eat later. It was still good after a couple of hours in the fridge. I also had their assortment of cookies, which came with a green tea leaf cookie, a couple of jam thumbprint, chocolate cookies, a pair of shortbread sticks, a sugar cookie, and a light coco-hazelnut cookie. They all tasted homemade, and I especially enjoyed their green tea cookie because it was made with real matcha powder. You can tell that they were baked in-house because they are subtly sweet and tastes very fresh. My other friends had their famous Kimchi Mac n' Cheese. I tried some of it, and we all agreed that it should come with more kimchi in it, rather than have only a little on top as a garnish. I will chose to employ the rarely used 5 STAR designation. My family and I were headed into the city for the day and we were looking for a late morning pit stop. I think that the Cheeky Cafe is one of my all time best finds. The food was comfortable and tasty... the atmosphere was neighboorhoody and artsy... the waitstaff were spot on! And then there's Cheeky Bread... who figured out you could do that to improve french toast. Our eggs were cooked to perfection, our son was entertained by coloring a design he could tape up in the restaurant , and the bacon was like BUTTER. We will be back soon! read more

Crummy weather and backed up traffic on the freeway, but after detouring and meandering to Cheeky Café on 17th/Jackson bordering the CD/ID neighborhoods - this was pleasant find! Nice corner location, clearly an established neighborhood restaurant since wait staff knew customers by first name. Wide variety on the their menu from small plates/starters, entrees, and beverages with a bit of an Asian/Hawaiian flair. I had a 16 oz. mocha ($3.95, Fonte coffee!) and an order of calamari with aioli ($7.95), with tax and tip came out under $16. Former work colleague ordered a tea and fried mushrooms. He's a regular and usually stops by for breakfast/brunch. The two wait people were very friendly, but had the fine art of being unobtrusive knowing that we were deep in conversation. Water was refilled, we were periodically checked on, but no overt sense to turn over the table. I'm sure it would totally different during peak hours though. I was just glad that there are neighborhood spots that 2 1/2 hour conversations can occur - this is greatly appreciated! I like this place! They have very good strong coffee :) (at least to me) . Dropped by with my girl friend and tried loco moco and nachos. Loco moco is made with their signature meat loaf and a light colored, thick gravy. I think it's good but not out-of-my-way good. The nachos were made of fried wontons and topped with their signature turkey chili and lots of beans. I dislike beans but man, those beans were soft and sweet, very good (I'm contemplating to eat more beans now) . There's something about the color blue that I love. That type of blue that straddles between a whimsical sea foam green and a clear Seattle summer sky. it brings a smile to my face each time I close my eyes and think of it. I was stunned at how diverse the menu was...there's something about Spam and Eggs that stir up unquestionable memories of my childhood...when I was still a chubster kid sitting on my mother's kitchen counter watching her do her magic over the stove...my spam and eggs frying up...this is my ultimate comfort food. I can't think of better memories! We were quickly helped and served water...my mouth watering over all the whimsical food pairings...all really reminiscent of what any child would want for breakfast... Fried PB&J, stuffed french toast, pancakes, eggs, bacon, cinnamon rolls, mac and cheese--with a bit of adult flair with the kimchee....and another comfort food fav...country fried steak and gravy! Yum! We didn't order all of that...unfortunately... but, I would highly recommend the Country Fried steak, Kimchee mac and cheese and the banana stuffed french toast. And get an egg nog latte, too! My only regret leaving was that I found this place at the tail end of my Seattle run. My appetite for not only good food, but eclectic and new experiences is bittersweet. Each bite at Cheeky Cafe, each glance at the blue wall that left me tickled my entire meal was becoming just a memory. Seattle memories that I wasn't ready to let go of. I came here for breakfast, so I'm not so sure about the whole asian fusion. This place is very modern but friendly feeling to it. The service is definitely one to be applaud for. The second I walked into the store, we were greeted and seated almost immediately. While we were still waiting for friends, the waiter would continue to check up on us. He was very cheerful and patient while we were waiting for our friends to come. I would come back just for the service! Food! is a whole another story. A good fried rice dish should not be sticky, in texture, need to dry out first to keep individual grains fried with proper amount of oil, soy suace. We had apple turnover as dessert (change daily) We had a complete meal. Next time I will have to try their tomato soup as suggested. I like the good "Choice" brand of variety tea they serve. Though in an odd location, this place is absolutely worth visiting (over and over again). The owners are so sweet and the place shows their love for food and appreciation for comfort. I was completely won over by the uniquely creative Asian-fusion menu. We got several small plates to share and ended up taking tons home. The portions are HUGE and very reasonably priced. Cheeky chicken wings: wonderfully crunchy, sweet and succulent. Fried rice: fluffy and delicious, with the perfect mix of ingredients. Did i mention HUGE?? This is an excellent place to go for a late breakfast. A good mix of some Hawaiian flavors like spam and rice and loco moco but with a fun twist (the loco moco is a meatloaf wrapped in bacon). Not very expensive and they offer vegetarian and vegan as well as gluten free options as substitutes usually at no extra charge. It's also nice as it's not usually crowded so taking a family of 4-5 works out well. Not too loud and has the ambient noise level of your typical coffee shop. I have patronized this restaurant two times now. Each visit was about 4 years apart. Very random. I wanted to go twice before writing this review. First of all, customer service is very good here. Friendly. Efficient. Decor: hipster, bright, cheerful Food: great prices for how much food you get. Generous portions. One thing though that gave me second thoughts after my first visit and unfortunately has happened again: their food is very salty! No matter which dish you order it is over salted. A neighborhood staple! I've been coming here for 5+ years to enjoy brunch without having to wait an hour for a table. Since the pandemic, we've mostly done takeout, but the quality and portions haven't changed. Favorites are: matcha or lemon poppy seed cheeky cakes, Wendy's fried rice, carbonara, kimchee Mac n cheese, french dip, and meatloaf locomoco (get spam on top, you won't regret it). I came across this amazing little cafe while on a recent, rare trip to Seattle. First, I was pleasantly surprised to find a free parking spot right in front of the restaurant. Wow... that was a lot of food. And so inexpensive. But.so.much.food. The service was friendly and just enough without lingering or hovering, the food was all lovingly prepared and did I mention, portion sizes are HUGE. I made sure everyone at the table ordered something different (sneakily, I didn't MAKE them, I lovingly suggested and as the maven, they listened, natch) and so the frybread, chili cheese and fried egg as well as the well represented Meatloaf Loco Moco so I got the egg sandwich with the chicken patty and OF COURSE I got the sweet potato fries, I'm no dummy. I personally wasn't a fan of the chicken patty because it was 30% onion which some may love but me, not so much. It was tasty but too many onions. The rest of the sandwich an fries were top notch though. I was so excited about the opening of Cheeky Cafe! As a former resident of the central district I have always wanted a more options for eating besides the moonlight. Before the review I want to say that the story behind this restaurant is really sweet and family oriented. I went to Cheeky Cafe two weeks ago with a friend and had the following food: 1. complimentary fried wontons: they were fine but I need to avoid gluten so I only tried a couple of these. the sauce that came with them was pretty bland. 2. The owner gave my friend and I a sample of the tomato soup which was amazing!!! I will definitely order this the next time I come in. 3. Chicken meatballs: these were just okay. the sauce they served these with was strange and lemony and left a bad taste in my mouth. My friend and I suggested a sauce that was deeper in flavor and maybe a little spicy. 4. Curry Rice: this was also just okay. I think it just needed more flavor and maybe a little spice? When I come back (which I will) I want to have brunch. They will begin serving brunch on July 24th which is very exciting. My favorite meal is breakfast and I love finding new brunch spots! I forget that I shouldnt order chicken in chinatown because they only serve dark meat and I prefer chicken breast. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich which was decent. It had chunks of chicken mixed in with the sauce. It was on a toast french roll which to me was the best part. I would prefer to come here for breakfast sometimes because I really don't know anyone who can mess up a pancake. Service was friendly and prompt. Pretty quick meal. I give it 2 stars mainly my own fault for ordering the wrong thing but my buddy ordered the chop salad which I had a bite of and I was not a fan. I ordered a onesie with the Cheeky French toast stuffed with berries. It was OK, not bad, until I saw how much oil was soaked into the bread. It was basically a sponge and it was really unappetizing. All this oil wild squeeze out of the bread's pores whenever I cut into it. Get the regular French toast instead. My bf's meat loaf loco moco was good. I loved the gravy. My lemonade was basically syrup. It was way too sweet and I could not even taste the lemon. I asked for more lemon and in the end I had to just send it back. Service was nice and fast.
