Recently tried some takeout from Marination CC. We've always enjoyed their food so tried a couple of different dishes. This time it was Chicken Teri and Fish N Chips. Good stuff. We were really hungry. So much so that I totally forgot to take photos before digging in. :D They smelled really good and tasted good. Beer batter / panko crust - nice! Fries tasted like they are freshly cut and not out of a bag. Teriyaki chicken - pretty good. Both of us had the fish and chips w the kimchi tartar sauce. While we waited we enjoyed the Thatcher - a delicious cocktail we've enjoyed since this way back when this location was called Super Six. Solid food option if you're craving Hawaiian food. The inside has a cool vibe and I love when a restaurant or cafe has an upstairs seating area. Then you get that Thai basil and the crunch from the chicken, phenomenal. Would go back for this alone. First time coming here after the renovation/rebrand from Super Six! My friend and I came for brunch around 10am on a Sunday and there was plenty of seating available. It's open seating now, like the other Marination location downtown! You order food at the counter and give your number -- they text you when the food is ready and you pick it up at a window at the far end of the restaurant. It only took about 5 mins for me to get the text for my chicken and waffles. I've had it before at Super Six, and it really hit the spot. I love the creativity of the HK bubble waffle! But the chicken was somewhat hard to eat-- the crispy texture was a bit tougher to chew than expected and it was a bit dry inside. To order drinks, you have to go separately to the bar. I loved the lychee margarita. The frosé was good as well but a little sweet. The staff is all super duper nice :) we hung out for almost 2 hours eating and drinking. They didn't hurry us at all, and came to clear our plates/drinks multiple times. It started getting more crowded around 11:30 -- I think partially due to the Seahawks game. There are big TVs at the bar for you to watch the game! I'll definitely be back. So glad it's reopened! read more

Marination Station has opened it's latest in Columbia City. Go up to the counter, order what you like, and give them your phone number. Find a seat at the bar, the large tables downstairs, or one of the 4 person tables upstairs. When your order is ready, you'll get a text to pick it up at the kitchen windows near the bottom of the stairs. I've always liked Marination Station sliders, but today I decided to try the fish and chips. The fish was panko-crusted and tasty. The chips were thick and cooked just right, not too crisp or squishy. It came with two mini sets of miso-ginger tartar sauce, which was fantastic! Once I ran out, the rest of the meal was slightly disappointing. A bit of cole slaw would have added some nice variation in taste, temperature, and texture. The self-serve makes service much faster and more casual than the old Super Six. I'm still not sure if it's an up or downgrade, but I left happy. read more

I've been to the Marination in downtown Seattle before, so I came to this Marination with high hopes of similarly tasty food. I was recommended the fish sando by an employee, so I ended up getting a fish sando, mac salad, and fries. The fish sandy was tasty and juicy, and the sauce pickles and slaw complimented the dish very well. I did think that the sando looked a bit underwhelming, but the flavor was good. The mac salad was a bit on the sour side for me, and the fries were good, but I wish the bigger pieces had a little more crunch. They used to be really good. Hoping it was just an off day for the cook. Kalbi beef was just okay. It was kind of dry. Mac salad was tasteless. Could have used some salt. I don't eat bread, so gave it to my husband. You have to be totally incompetent to mess up white rice. I haven't had rice in months, so I did enjoy the white rice. No big deal about the slaw. I gave that to the husband as well. Husband ordered the same thing. He was not impressed. My brother had the fish & chips. He ate the 2 large piece they gave to him. He loves anything fried. I tried Super Six before and didn't love it, but wanted to give it another shot since its reopening as Marination. Sadly, it was a total miss for me. I went with the fish sando, which seemed great on paper but lazily put together. The miso tartar sauce was ice cold, the cheese was completely unmelted and the bun seemed like it was pulled straight out of a bag. The fish was fried well, but felt out of place with everything else. We also had the tocino bowl, which was flat out disastrous. As another reviewer pointed out, the fried rice sat in a pool of oil. How did they manage to do that? I didn't pick up of any of the advertised garlic flavors either. I have to add that the restaurant design feels awkward. We initially sat at the high tops by the window, but found they were way too close to the communal benches. Like, butts-next-to-your-head close. I recommend the bar instead. read more

Had a very disappointing experience here recently that made me feel like I couldn't not leave a review.. My partner and I visited for lunch on the way home from the airport. I ordered a Luau plate and she got the kale salad and we got wings to share. We ordered at a counter for dine in and were given a buzzer and told to sit where we like to wait. The food didn't take long, and the person working the register offered to bring us our food since we were the only people in there (maybe normally you pick it up at the window yourself?). It all came out in "to-go" containers, even for dine in, and we had to fetch our own plastic utensils to eat it. The Kale Salad came in in pre-packed plastic container that didn't seem made in house? And seemed to be missing some of the ingredients listed on the menu (it was also baby kale, not curly kale, which seems worth mentioning for salad lovers). This presentation alone was enough to be disappointed with.. I remember dining in at Super Six and really liking it but this now feels like a place that is catered towards Uber eats and food delivery and has lost touch with the dining in experience. I'm not gonna tear apart the food here too but I'll just say it wasn't as good as I remember. Certainly nothing close to Super Six or the Alki location. I'd recommend going to Buddha Bruddah a couple miles up rainier instead. read more

Wow! This is our 2nd time dining here; last time was a catered outdoor party under their tents, spectacular food. We are even more satisfied today with Aloha Fries & Taco Salad. The Aloha Fries were loaded with pulled pork- such great comfort food on a cloudy afternoon. I can't complain with what I ordered. If you order the Aloha fries you will get a lot of food as seen in my picture. I asked for a side of the kimchi mayo and it was fire with my order. I would say a lot of the food leans salty so you're going to need a drink or lots of water. You have to be careful in what you order though. My friend in got the loco moco which was a small bowl of food-so skip this. The kimchi fried rice is popular here too. If you order the aloha fries you will be happy and full. They didn't put much pork on them despite it being quite expensive. I left half of it. The rum drink was alright. Bartender was friendly enough. Overall, not too great. I was excited to hear that Marination is now in Columbia City. I no longer have to travel all the way to Alki to get my kimchee fried rice fix! Went in for lunch today with my daughter and two cousins. Surprised it wasn't super packed for lunch time. I decided to try the fish sando along with the aloha fries. I've had the aloha fries before so I already knew what to expect. The fish sando was okay... the amount of slaw on the sandwich kind of overpowered the fish. Made me sad that I strayed away from my usual order but luckily I got an order of the kimchee fried rice with spicy pork to go to have for dinner. Ordered the coconut creme filled malasadas for dessert. The donuts were warm and fluffy but there was barely any filling. I also appreciated the fact that they have high chairs so my daughter who is almost 9 months could sit with us and enjoy some fries. read more

Although I miss Super Six which was the restaurant (same owners) that is now Marination Columbia City it's now Marination (they have two other restaurants downtown and on the Alki waterfront). Really nice people working there and awesome bartender. Although I mostly review just food the place has a nice cozy yet high-ceilinged atmosphere and a huge outdoor area. This is ultimate comfort food. I love Spam musubi and the moco loco is incredible, although it's something for a special occasion (a hung-over Sunday morning?) and not food I'd eat every day. The loco gravy is not just ordinary brown gravy it's this spicy nuanced delicious something. Their rice is good it's like Hawaiian / Korean style sticky rice. Kimchi and cabbage and tacos bro! They have fish and chips and fish sandwiches now and they are fried to perfection. The fries are double dipped I think but not as totally crispy as I would like but how can you go wrong with deep-fried potatoes with savory sauces? Satisfying. Their kalbi beef and ginger chicken are awesome and they have awesome sauces. Try the bulldog sauce - I don't know what it is but it's ... awesome. They have house-made donuts (malasadas). On a lazy Sunday afternoon, my wife and I decided to place a pick-up order from Marination. I'll admit, I was somewhat hesitant in ordering based on some previous reviews, but I'm glad we decided to order anyways. The space itself is very much something I could vibe with. I love the open concept of their set-up, allowing the inside and outside to blend together. Would have been a perfect day to have a couple of beers and the space provided a relaxing atmosphere. The only interaction I had with the staff was to ask for the pick-up order itself, and they were very polite and quick in providing my order. It looked like the cooks were all smiles and have a blast in the back. We ordered the Kalua pork fried rice, sexy tofu taco salad, the aloha sliders, and a couple orders of the mac salad. First, both entrees came with an egg and both eggs were cooked perfectly. Something about getting eggs properly cooked always puts a smile on my face. The sexy tofu was indeed sexy, just full of flavor. My wife loved it. My Kalua pork fried rice was cooked perfectly and offered the exact flavor I was looking for today. Don't skip the aloha sliders either, the sauce on those suckers are bomb. We will definitely be back to eat at the restaurant itself to enjoy the chill vibe and great food. read more

Called the next day to double check, I asked the same question and the lady that answered the phone said "service dogs, yes and I'm not allowed to ask you anymore questions" what kind of passive-aggressive answer was that??? We used to eat/drink at Super Six all the time. I'm not one of these entitled "let me speak to a manger Karen/Ken types". I understand not everyone wants to deal with a dog while they dine, just give me a straight answer. We won't be returning anytime soon. read more

It's the same food as I expected, hasn't changed much since I tried it at the first marination location. It's priced about what you would expect for Seattle. I'm interested in coming back in the summer. The outdoor patio seems appealing. I like that they have beer too. read more

I miss Super Six and was pretty heart broken when they closed down. It was one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood because they had the best burgers. When Marination opened, I was disappointed to see that they didn't keep the burgers in the menu. Even more disappointing is that it's a very pork-heavy menu. Being that there's a big Jewish and Muslim community here, I thought it was a huge miss to not offer a lot of non-pork options. I understand that it's Hawaiian fusion but you have to cater to the community. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the open seating. Having to line up to order at the register and then find a seat, then wait for a text to pick up your food at the counter... it's overly complicated and is a bit of a mess when it's busy. And if you order alcoholic drinks, you have to go to a different counter. What happens if you forgot your phone?? The food doesn't even come out at the same time as the people you're with so you're just sitting there awkwardly while your meal is getting cold. Anyway, I haven't even mentioned the food. The locomoco isn't as good as when it was Super Six-- was so salty and came in an awkward small paper bowl. It didn't even come with the pickled red onion garnish that paired so well with it. Overall, I'm still mourning SuperSix and Marination is just one less restaurant option for me. I might try it again for dinner but sit at the bar since they actually serve you there. read more

Supersix has reopened under the marination family! They opened on 12/22 with lunch happy hour and dinner and will reconvene In January for brunch. Was excited to try their new Bloody Mary that is infused with lemon grass and has a spam topping- recommend! My partner said this is the best fish and chips he's has- the fish was fresh and the breading perfectly fried. The aloha fries have made a return and they were just as good. The only difference was the kimchi and mayo weren't mixed as previously done at super six but still delicious. Servers at the bar were super friendly. Gender neutral bathrooms and the new design is fresh and aligns with their other businesses. Finally (and I think the biggest win) this is more like a deli counter and less like a restaurant so you order at the front. I imagine this will cut down on wait time and turnover time.
