    Matū Philly Cheesesteak

It was AMAZING! I'm not a huge fan of cheesesteaks but my boyfriend wanted to try it out. This place made me a fan of them (at least here). Super friendly customer service as well. This place is right behind Hiho. Just walk into the hiho patio and walk right past it. Excited to come back!

    "Philly Style" cheesesteak

First, I have high expectations for anything called a Philly Cheesesteak being I've had many in Philadelphia over the years. Now on to Matu.... Going to take away 1/2 a star for timely delivery. Seemed to take awhile for the cheesesteak to be presented. I'll give back the half being the cashier recognized the delay, apologized for it and comp the potato chips. Now to the food. The sesame seeded roll fresh , slightly toasted and satisfying. The grass fed Wagyu beef very tasty complimented with Cooper Sharp Cheese and grilled onions. The chips, nice and crispy. the cheesesteak also had embedded a roasted long hot pepper which I asked to be omitted. Minus 1/2 star. Lastly the terrace seating was a pleasant and appealing to consume a decent cheesesteak. Philly cheesesteak? Not quite. Philly cheesesteaks use Melted cheese wiz or provolone. So at best this could be considered "Philly Style" cheesesteaks. If I'm at the Commons at Calabasas I would go back.

Really great Cheesesteak . It's in the same building as Hiho Cheeseburger. They servd Beer and Wine, and La La Land is next door!

Just an over hyped place on social media. Not great 6/10. Sandwich is mid and chips are stale. Don't waste your money.

This is a great cheesesteak. It's worth trying if you're looking for a west coast place that can hit the spot.

If you're looking for a sandwich that's loaded with fresh ingredients and generous portions, this is the place. Every sub is packed with so much goodness that you definitely need to come hungry. In fact, if we stop by around 3:00 p.m., we're usually so full that we skip dinner! One of the things we appreciate most is the friendly staff. No matter how busy they are, everyone is welcoming, and you'll almost always see Dan working right alongside his team. It's clear he takes pride in his business, and that kind of dedication is hard to find. Whether you choose to sit inside or grab one of the outdoor tables, it's a great spot to enjoy an incredible sandwich. After 22 years, Dan's Subs is still one of our favorite places to eat, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious, satisfying meal

When coming here to order for takeout, it was jam packed crowded and so many people came in/out to order to go. They have signed pics on the wall of celebs. Clearly this is the place to go in town for a sub. Can we talk about their menu? I've never seen such an extensive sub menu before! They literally have something for everyone and then some. We split two subs - one classic italian and one mamma mia. Both regulars and we asked them to cut it in half. Two regulars shared between two people was plenty of food. You can customize the order by adding on or removing the toppings you want and you can get the subs on either white or wheat bread; the default is white. We brought the subs home and ate it there and I appreciated that the bread wasn't soggy at all. The subs really held up. The italian was good and I liked it with the addition of the dijon mustard but I'd be curious to try another one out in the future, maybe the spicy italian or something else. The mamma mia was loaded with toppings and it was definitely more of the standout sub between the two. Happy to have finally tried this place out!

But something always kept me at bay, and I think it was the pizza sauce. Yes, you can ask for no pizza sauce, but maybe that's the magic that keeps folks coming back? Who knows? For transparency, I ordered my first cheesesteak from them online, not in person. For me, a cheesesteak needs three things: cheese, chopped beef, and grilled onions -- and maybe a squirt of mayo. Don't come down on me, but that's how I like 'em. The sandwich had good weight in my hand, although it was a little smaller compared to some others I have had. It smelled great, but honestly, it was just OK. Nothing really stood out. The cheese disappeared into the meat and bread, and the steak could have used a little more seasoning. I ate half and decided to put the rest aside for later. Why? Because my other favorite thing to eat is hot dogs -- and I ordered one of those too! So let's talk about what comes to mind when you hear "hot dogs." You picture a plump hot dog in a bun with mustard, relish, maybe some onions, all served on a steamed bun -- maybe with sesame or poppy seeds if you're lucky. Nope. This hot dog was served in the same type of roll as the cheesesteak, with two hot dogs split in half, trying to look like they were cooked on the flattop. I think they may have just been boiled. Then, on top of that, you get lettuce, tomatoes, and maybe a squirt of mustard. I thought, "OK, this is different. It still has hot dogs in it!" So I removed the lettuce and tomatoes and gave it another try. Unfortunately, the flavor just wasn't there for me. I didn't check if they were labeled as ALL-BEEF hot dogs or if they were simply "hot dogs," which could be a blend of beef, turkey, pork, and chicken. I pulled one of the dogs out and took a bite -- and I just couldn't finish it. Sorry guys, but this one was a pass for me. I went back to the other half of my cheesesteak and happily finished it off. Would I go back? I'm not sure. Maybe I'll try it again with the pizza sauce? Many other reviewers love their sandwiches, so maybe I just caught them on an off day. We'll see. If I do go back, I'll come back and let everyone know how it went. Happy eating, everyone! What have you eaten today?

Let just start with Cricca's Deli makes some seriously well-crafted sandwiches. It's a small Italian deli that hits the way you want it to. To the right as soon as you walk in, there's seats and a table where you can wait for your to go order or to eat there. The entire shop was clean, neat and orderly. It's sensory overload walking in. There's a lot going on. The menu is massive. I knew what I wanted after doing some homework before arriving so I was ready. The lady that took my order couldn't have been more of a pleasure to deal with. I placed my order, paid, tipped and sat down. A few minutes later, I had what is probably the best sandwich I've had this year. I should have sat in the parking lot and enjoyed it but I wanted the elbow room because I knew this was a monster. After I got home and unwrapped this behemoth, I instantly knew it was worth the drive. The Dillinger (which is what I ordered) has Pastrami, Meatballs, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Mozz Cheese, Garlic Butter and Marinara Sauce. If there's a better (big back) sandwich, I'll wait for your reply. This was soooooo gooood. In every bite you could taste each ingredient separately and it was an explosion of flavors. I ordered a small cup of their marinara sauce to dip/drizzle on each bite.....couldn't have been a better decision. Worth it. The 3 ladies that were working the front counter (around noon on 4/23) were the best. Just an all around great experience and fantastic food. I'll be back soon FOR SURE!!!!
