Although this is an odd combo, I surprisingly really like it. It reminds me of a grilled cheese sandwich but with very fluffy bread. The cake is plenty to feed several people. With leftovers, you can just heat it in the microwave for 10-15 seconds and it taste just perfectly. After ordering, our cake was brought out 10 seconds later. This was nice since we were not expecting it to be ready so soon. If the cheesetella does not appeal to you, you can order a castella cake by itself or one with a cream with a flavor of your choice. No preservatives for all of their menu, so it's best to enjoy right away or put in fridge & eat them by next day. Castellas are more soft and fluffy bread like Taiwanese or Japanese Castella vs. the cheesecake is similar to Japanese style, the cakes are very delicious as well almost creamy. I had been planning my Cali adventures for a couple of months and I saw cheesetella on a YouTube video. All I saw was this huge hunk of cheesecake with cheese in the center. I love Ube so I was cool with our choice, though I wasn't sure what to expect. It is not your traditional thick and heavy texture of cheesecake. It was light, airy, creamy and full of flavor. I have to admit to being completely blown away. 10 out of 10 for sure and I would definitely return. It pays to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. I had never heard of this place before and for that I am surprised. They have the most amazing cheesetella. It is so light and fluffy. I gave family members a piece to try it and they agreed that it was delicious! It's like eating a cloud. I would definitely go back and I would lobe to try more of their items. I would specially love to try to chocotella. I love chocolate so I know I would really enjoy it specially if it is as fluffy as the cheesetella. It is basically Asian sponge cake with a layer of cheddar cheese. The cake was packaged and sitting out so I'm not sure how long it was sitting there. I did not particularly like it when I had it in the food court. When I brought it home, I kept it in the refrigerator. On the next day I decided to eat it cold and it tasted way better. Maybe I just like cold cheese but since my mom doesn't like cheese I ate the whole bottom layer and left her the cake. Not sure if I would come back, but it is worth a try. I love cheesetella. I always come here when I'm in the area. Unfortunately, today's experience was different. I ordered the plain castella. Excited, I cut a piece with a fork I had in my car. It was a bit salty and tasted odd. I looked and noticed the entire side of the cake had cheese. I hate cheese, so I go back and nicely told the cashier of the issue. I asked if I can switch it, and she told me "it's just a little bit of cheese." I explained to her that I ordered the plain castella and this has cheese. I didn't think it was going to be an issue to switch it. I guess, I could've simply cut the entire side off but why is it fair me to cut a whole side, throw it away, and lose product I paid for? She informed me that they batch the plain castella with the cheese one. At this point, I felt like it was my fault for wanting the plain cake. She told me I already cut a slice so I can't switch it and I told her I didn't expect it have cheese. Eventually, she switched it.
