    Chicken Taco

Chef Green's Chicken tacos are hella good! I believe I first found out about him by Bay Area Foodz. I was finally able to make it on a Tuesday during my lunch. It took a while for my order as there were a lot of people ahead of me. I've made it to a block party once as well. I can't really go like I want because I'm on the other side of town and can't make it during my lunch. Lately he's been making fish, but I haven't tried that.

The fish was good but the fries were hard and kinda mid. The taco is very greasy. It would be a 3 star but there was a hair in my food :(

Wow! I finally made it to the most sought-after fried fish in the East Bay! It's Friday...skies are blue, the temperature is perfect for a 20 minute drive and my stomach is reminding me I haven't eaten yet. To Chef Green's it is! I had been seeing this man on my timeline for a little while now. I finally decided to follow him to see what his spot was about. Every post was nothing but deliciousness so I decided to pull up TODAY! People had already begun to gather. I waited longer than necessary because it was my first time. I didn't realize everyone standing around had already ordered. Once I placed my order I waited about 15-20 mins for my number to be called! "25!" I raised my hand and was given a basket too heavy for one hand to hold. I politely thanked him, wrapped my food, grabbed a few napkins and headed back to my car. All you need is your thumb and index finger to enjoy this well seasoned fried fish and garlic fries. Fried food is something I'm trying to ease out of my diet. I do pretty good but on a day like today it was worth the cheat! Chef Green gives his heart to what he's preparing. He does it all while tending to the future little chef. It is getting harder and harder to find good people serving good food. If you're in West Oakland on a Friday pull up and support this gentleman. He opens at 12 and will close when he sells out! I hope you try it!

After so many times trying to make it on time to try this greatness...FINALLY First off @chefgreen510 is very respectful and a friendly person. Even though he is busy will still squeeze in a small conversation with you. Second the hype is real one of the best fried fish ive had in the bay area. The batter is perfect not thick at all and not greasy. Outside part of the fish was very crispy and crunchy and the fish was nice and soft and not dry at all. My favorite part is that the fish had such an easy on the nose smell. For being fried it definitely did not smell like its been just sitting there for hours. Also love the fact that he makes small batches at a time. Ohh lets not forget get the fries was covered in FRESH garlic and just about the right touch. I came all the way from Palo Alto and let me say it did not disappoint. @chefgreen510 even blessed me with an extra piece. Definitely coming back. Also his Niece was out there hustling as well. Perfect little mid day dessert.

I saw Chef Green pop up in my Instagram feed one day since I click on Mexican food posts and the tacos in the video looked so good. A friend of mine and I had tried to find him earlier this year but couldn't find him. I recently started to follow ChefGreen510 and he posted he would be there on Taco Tuesday (sorry, no Taco Tuesday promos) so we went today. This is one of those run, don't walk to get some great tacos and peach cobbler. Unfortunately as newbies we weren't sure how to order and sadly, we still aren't 100% sure. The picture on the payment sheet shows a Birria Taco and underneath it shows, Chicken, Beef, Oxtail. I ordered a Chicken and a Beef Taco which I got. I think Chef Green offers the taco with all three meats together. We plan to go again so we will clarify if all the meats is the standard taco. As we know, you can order a Chicken Taco and a Beef Taco separately but all three meats together is probably outstanding. To the serious part, absolutely love the tacos cooked with a pile of cheese on the grill, tortilla on top, more cheese, some of the drippings sprinkled on top and diced onions with cilantro to top it off. The whole package results in a nice crunch to outside of the taco giving it a crunchy shell texture. The chicken and the beef/ox tail is flavored just right and tender. Overall a nice flavorful taco with a slight outside crunch from the grilled cheese outside. It doesn't have a conssume dipping sauce but it is juicy so you don't really need it. I think they offer sour cream too if you want some. I ordered two peach cobblers too. The peach cobbler is pretty good. I like thicker and more Al dente peaches but Chef Green does make one of the better peach cobblers I have tried. The tacos, customer service and Chef Greens infectious smile makes you feel like you are hanging out at his place for good food and conversation. If you haven't been there, you need to go and yourself some great tacos. I drove almost an hour and the food was well worth the drive.

I've been following Chef Green on IG for quite some time and he was only selling tacos at the time. I finally made my way to get some and I was a little disappointed. He was late setting up which only added to the already lengthy wait time. I ordered surf and turf tacos which were just okay. I could taste cinnamon and I didn't like that. I should've ordered the birria taco but I didn't. Fast forward to Nov 2024... I won a free order of his fried chicken and garlic fries for guessing the correct pounds of chicken he posted. When I say DELICIOUS I mean DEE-PHUCKIN-LICIOUS THIS IS HOW TF YOU FRY CHICKEN. Redeemed! He seasoned the shit out of the chicken AND the fries. Flavor combustion and PERFECTLY crispy and juicy. He sells fried fish and fries that I look forward to trying as well. I have to try his birria tacos too, but I'll pass on the surf and turf ones.

Food: it's fish Friday today and when I tell you that the fish was hot, crispy on the outside and moist in the inside and seasoned to perfection, also the garlic fries was perfectly seasoned and the assortment of dipping sauces was A-1. I'm so happy I made the decision to make it out today Service: I was greeted with a smile and what was on the menu today. She also told me the days and hours of operation including what food is served on those days. Super informative. The location is on the corner of 1575 7th street Oakland ca. Chef Green and his team was standing on business today. Working really hard and the wait was a little long but super worth the wait and I'll do it again. The ambiance was nice and clean and there was a good amount of people patiently waiting and supporting his amazing business. Chefs kiss ‍

Overall, 8 out of 10. I waited for an hour to receive my order. I got there around 12:15p.m. and placed my order after about 20 to 25 minutes of waiting more people started to show up some of the people he seemed to know personally ...I'm not sure if they ordered before I got there, but it seemed like they had just gotten there and ordered and when the first batch of fish came out around 1 o'clock they got their order before me even though they ordered after me it seemed so there was a bit of favoritism from what I could gather. It was also advertised on his Instagram that he made homemade tartar sauce, and presumably homemade hot sauce to which was not present today because I overheard him say he was running behind, even though he posted on his Instagram very early in the morning, saying that he was getting ready for the day ....no big deal though really, he still provided packets of tartar sauce and hot sauce, but I would have loved to taste his homemade tartar sauce. Besides the hold time and the lack of certain items, the fish was very good, nice portions, reasonable price in my opinion and the flavor was very good. I would say he needs to get an extra fryer so that he can do more in less time since he's the only one cooking it. It's on a street corner. Nothing much to say about that. Just take your food and go home and eat it or go and eat it in your car because you don't want to eat it cold before it gets soggy. The fish was cooked beautifully buttery/flaky/melt in your mouth. And the fries had a good amount of garlic on them and were cooked well. I appreciate shoestring fries over thick cut fries any day. I will be returning eventually but maybe I'll get there even earlier to avoid being overstepped by a family friend. $20/plate 1hr wait 3piece fish(basa) with garlic fries

From the outside, it looks like a straightforward taco truck, but wow was I surprised. I ordered the Carnitas Super Taco, which came loaded with lettuce, cheese, cilantro, onions, sour cream, and guacamole. Everything was fresh, well seasoned, and packed with flavor. My only complaint? You only get one taco per order because I definitely could've eaten another. The Kid ordered the Carne Asada Super Taco and before we even pulled away, she was asking for a second one. That's usually a pretty good sign. We also tried the horchata and jamaica, and both were delicious. The horchata was creamy and flavorful, while the jamaica was refreshing and not overly sweet. What surprised me most was how quickly they got the food out, especially considering how popular this spot seems to be. A few things to know: * Cash or Venmo only * Parking can be a challenge, but it's worth it * Keep an eye out for the new speed cameras in the area Their hours are another plus: Open daily, 9:30am- midnight Overall, this was one of those pleasant surprises that reminds you not to judge a place by appearances. Definitely looking forward to coming back.

Reason why I'd give 3 stars instead of 5 is because 1) almost $5 for one tiny taco is already absurd, and 2) half of the time they charge me for super taco prices just so i can go home and find out they gave me regular tacos - NO cheese, NO guac, NO sour cream. I even asked the dude on the phone how many bags of chips they give for my order so i know if I need to order more, he literally said two bags of chips, and end up giving me just one bag for a total of 4 "super" tacos and one "super" burrito. We are in search of a Baja fish taco that is satisfying since both of the places we loved either closed or stopped serving the baja style. We went to Mersea earlier for the views and to check out TI and it was uninspiring so we rambled back to the east bay and decided to try Mercado. Reviews looked good (thanks y'all, I appreciate you) and despite a few misses on the baja taco (according to some reviews) we decided to take a run at it. The man was feeling jaded after the am stop and wasn't going for the fish, I stayed neutral...no one wants their little taco loving heart broken twice in one day...ultimately, he decided to try the fish taco plate with 1 baja and one grilled. I had the poblano mole tacos w/chicken. We shared the guacamole with chips. I had cafe de olla (it is called something else here) and he had the mocktail with the ginger beer. The ordering at the counter wasn't my favorite but the spot was pretty quiet for a Friday midday and the service was still exceptional. They were attentive and responsive. I would definitely go back at the same time cuz I don't like crowds. On to the food. Dayum! Everything was good. Well seasoned, beautifully plated, and sufficient serving size. I pigged out. For real...I waddled out of that joint. Brought every drop of the leftovers home so I could have the chocolate custard (DAYUM) for dessert with the remnants of my coffee. Him: he preferred the baja style to the grilled fish. As some others have said, it can fall apart (really stuffed with goodness) but he didn't want his fixins on the side. VERDICT: he'll be back for that taco. Me: I enjoyed the mole but the chicken in chunks didn't work for me. I would have preferred it shredded. I'll try something else next time and there will be a next time. Oh, and the black beans and green rice were flavorful as well. Standing order: guacamole and chips Cafe Chocolate custard... What? No pics? Come on now. I wasn't thinking 'bout y'all when my food came. Go take your own pics.

They've also made it to the Michelin Bib Gourmand list several years in a row, so you know the food is going to be legit! They don't accept reservations, so getting there and hoping for a table is your best bet. We were a group of 5, and after about a 20 min wait (pretty much par-for-the-course for a Saturday night), we were seated. They do have tables outside, but we were told that we couldn't start our meal outside and then move to a table indoors after one was available, so we waited. Oh well! As we waited, we noticed a steady stream of online orders, indicating this is a popular place with those in the neighborhood. We got a few beers while we waited for a table. They also have Thai iced teas/coffee/lemonade, and serve young coconuts with water. We got a bunch of appetizers to share and some entrees. We got the crispy rice pork salad, this is served with lettuce leaves and herbs and a wedge of lime. I loved this dish - the crispy rice and ground pork combination was balanced and the squeeze of lime juice made for a perfect bite wrapped in a lettuce leaf with mint and cilantro. Next was the Bird & Buffalo Chicken wings, perfectly crispy and tossed in salt and pepper. Good for folks who don't enjoy the spice. We also got the grilled pork spare ribs to share, which folks enjoyed. For entrees we had the drunken noodles with pork, green curry with rice and massaman curry with rice. I could have done with a spicier version of the green curry, but it was flavorful and satisfying. Overall, a solid spot for Thai food - we will be back to sample some of their other dishes too!
