Let me first say that I am Peruvian I grew up on this food. My father is straight from Peru. The green salsa taste nothing like its suppose to. I ordered Lomo Saltado and the fries were cold and tasted stale with the meat and onions over them to make it seem like they are warm. They weren't homemade fries. They were frozen bag fries. The food is good, not great. The service is okay. We usually order the aguadito soup which is a chicken soup with rice and cilantro broth it's good. We also order the pollo saltado and lomo saltado. I came to this restaurant with low expectations based on other reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. I went with my cousins for a total of 7 guests. To drink we got a pitcher of maracuya and a liter of inca kola. The maracuya was a little too sweet for my taste but I just ordered a glass of water and did a 50/50 mix. We got plenty of baskets with warm toasty bread and little butter packets. I personally ordered a plate of anticuchos that came with 3 skewers, salsa de rocoto and papa dorada. I definitely devoured it before the others could it all off my plate. At 8.99 it was a steal. I ate a plate of yucca frita a la huancaina. I enjoyed this but I think we were all a little underwhelmed with the huancaina. But it's one of those things that people have different styles of preparation. My cousins got a plate of jalea mixta, 1/4 pollo a la brasa (the best bargain they have), arroz chaufa de mariscos, and they even custom made tallarines a la huancaina with bistec apanado for two of them. It wasn't on the menu but they were happy to oblige with the request. Of the entrees that I tried other than my own I was really impressed with the jalea mixta. For desert we ordered crepe with lucuma and a 6 piece order of picarones. The crepe with ice cream was superb. In regards to service, we were there an hour before closing and the lady was nothing but nice to us. The plates took awhile to come out but I'm positive there was only one poor guy in the back making all our food. It wasn't that big of a deal for us because we just ate of each other's plates - family style. Really bad service for new years party. They ran out of the peruvian dishes early in the evening and was left with dry turkey and pork. They wouldn't even give us water which is actually against the law for a restaurant to not provide drinking water to their guests. We had to BUY the water. Not impressed. We should of listened to our instincts the first time. This place is a bootleg version of what real Peruvian food should be. Ghost town! Now i know why! I have been to many peruvian restaurants by far this was the worst! Not only the most expensive lomo saltado ($15.00)but no flavor what so ever. They also wanted to charge me $1.00 for 1 extra aji. This was just one dish totally over priced for bland hospital food. Since the day I put the review I had mixed emotions about the restaurant. I was angry for the bad service that I went through on that night. Two weeks after the incident, I decided to call the place to ask for the truth owner. I knew there had to be an owner that was caring and friendly with his customers. I knew that the tyrant that serve me that night wasn't the real owner like he stated. I called and spoke to the owner, the man is a tremendous hard working man who has worked for years to have his own establishment. I explained everything that happen that night. The man was very respectful and offer an apology for the worker's bad behavior. He felt embarrassed and offer to welcome my family and I back for dinner. Although I never took him up on his offer, I was satisfy with his apology. I have been back since the horrible night, but I do expect to go in the near future. I should have made the 10 min drive to El Cholito in Downey. Ordered the Lomo Saltado and the rice tasted a day old, the fries were undercooked and the beef was way too chewy. The only thing giving them 2 stars is the Lucuma ice cream. I won't be going back. read more

I have been coming here for about 3 or 4 years now and I have never been disappointed, sometimes the waiter will take a little long but the food is well worth the wait. I come here out of convenience as it's right next to my work. I really enjoy the $4.99 chicken combo that comes with chicken, salad and fries. I've read that others complain of the chicken being dry, but I don't think it's that bad. You just have to utilize the 2 sauces they give you-the yellow one and the green one (spicy). I drench my chicken as well as the salad and fries in both sauces, as it just gives things an extra kick. I recommend the $4.99 combo if you want something homestyle/healthy but fattening at the same time! Lol. It's inexpensive and a great go to deal. Just don't expect anything too over the top and enjoy it for what it is. A $4.99 meal. Not bad! I wouldn't go there for a hot date or my birthday or anything, but if you're on the go and nearby, I recommend it! Definitely place a phone order tho! i found this place to be reallly good. I was taken here by a Peruvian friend of mine, who happens to cook really good Peruvian food, and so I figured, he knows his stuff! And boy am I glad he does!! Its great food, the ceviche was excellent! the only thing i wasnt crazy about, because ive had better are the tostones, but other than that the lomo saltado was very good they just need to up their portions on the amount of meat on the plate.
