There's a possibility previous reviewers have a misconception about restaurant life. Not sure they've notice the price of groceries in general have increased. Most entrees $20 +. Similar to other restaurants. Gone are the days of $12-15 entrees. Realistically need to consider prices of gas too. Cuz foods arrive in trucks. Also finding and keeping good chefs/staff is hella difficult. Hopefully the owners can balance their skills amount three restaurants.

I moved to Bellflower about 5 years ago and noticed this place hidden in the city. At first it was a tiny little place and transitioned to a more elaborate and complete restaurant. Ever since I tried their food I was in love with Peruvian cuisine. Since the owners are from Peru, flavors and cooking styles are brought form their home country to the Bellflower area. Not only that but being there feels like home, maybe because the flavors are homie and real. I feel a warm and embracing glad or in their dishes, at least the ones I have tried. Of course there might be some delay in food making,but there is a reason, and that is flavor! Good food takes time to make and the wait is worth it. Additionally, their customer service is paramount. You are always taken care of as if you were family. Unfortunately, I moved out of Bellflower 3 years go and don't come here as often. But I still make time to take a 30 mile drive once in a whole just to try their amazing cooking. Don't take my word for it, visit and give them a try. read more

I am Peruvian and this is the best Peruvian Restaurant I've ever been to. Chef Agustin cooks the Peruvian dishes using all the authentic flavors from Peru. I especially love the Aji de Gallina (shredded chicken with a special yellow sauce and white rice) that reminds me of the one my mom used to make when I was little and the ceviche (as good as my dad's. The lomo saltado is to die for. The waiters are very nice, efficient and polite. The owner, Betty always receives her customers with a big smile and pleasant disposition and tries to make your visit to her restaurant a very nice experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who loves Peruvian food or who is willing to try different delicious dishes. read more

Not really familiar with the area since I've only bee here for a couple months, but as I was driving by there had appeared to be a Peruvian restaurant. I've never had Peruvian food before but I finally decided to try something new. Helpful customer service. Waiters know how to be attentive. They create conversations starters to lighten up the mood. Best part of my experience here at El hornero was the FOOD. My word, the food was impeccable, absolutely delicious especially the dish Called Lomo Saltado. As a vegan, I'm always trying to find great restaurants where my family and I can eat. There are of course lots of places in Los Angeles, but what I love about El hornero is how orginial their food is. Their dishes originate in Peru and are influenced by lots of other cultures, like Africa, China and Japan. I also love it that they use fresh vegetables. So much better than the defrosted veggies they serve at many places. They have wonderful soups and amazing dishes like "saltado de vegetales" and "tallarín saltado". Nothings stirs me more with the food from my hometown. They resemble so much. It is like a combination of Chinese food with Peruvian food. I don't think it was professional to seat other parties before us when we had been waiting longer. On top of that, the quality of the food has significantly gone down. The food did not taste fresh, and as shown in the picture, the seafood was not cleaned properly. Overall, this was a disappointing experience compared to previous visits.
