You know, when we chose Chef Tanya's for lunch, we didn't realize it was vegan, we just saw that the reviews were going crazy so we decided to give it a go! The whole place is so eclectic and cool! I really enjoyed walking around looking at the merchandise and groceries while we waited on our food. Chef Tanya was all over the place keeping things in order, delivering food and such, which was really neat to see. I got the modern hippie veggie sandwich and fries with pesto ranch and my husband got the pastrami mami sandwich. I've been here a few times and have to say, this is one of my favorite places to eat! I love the quality of their food and variety. They have ice cream, vegan of course, which is fantastic! Chef Tanya's is truly a plant-eater's paradise in the middle of a vast food desert. And my wife and I are grateful to have it around. We were in Rancho Mirage for a conference and Chef Tanya's was our go-to for dinner each night. I went with caprese powerburgers two nights, and we split a bowl of chili crack cheese fries. The third night I went with a bowl of gordo chili with cornbread. All excellent! My wife did the specials -- a torta one night, tacos another, and then a Coachella Forever salad to finish things off. Great to see that Tanya has expanded the Palm Desert location to include a soft serve creamery and dessert thing. Now if she would just expand to San Diego, all would be well in the world. If we lived in the Palm Desert area, we would eat here all the time. Since we don't, we bought a couple hundred bucks worth of vegan products to take home with us our last night in town. Chef Tanya is a queen! The staff are just as amazing! Every time I land in Palm Springs, I know I'm headed for crack cheese, chai, and a delicious salad or sandwich. I usually get my food to go, but this time I opted to sit and enjoy my meal. I wanted some crack cheese and the team graciously accommodated my request to have a 3 oz contained in case TSA gets on my case for having an above size "liquid" at checkpoint. I got their jerk sandwich special and it was special indeed. It had a nice flavor that I kicked up a notch with some hot sauce. You know, it's Jerk after all. The bread held up nicely and the filling ratio was generous. I thought I would have half for late but I just couldn't stop myself. I also bought two boogie bars that traveled in my carry-on bag. It held up nicely and didn't dry out. It's a cross between banana bread and carrot cake. Yum! Did I mention the wonderful staff? They were full of suggestions and helped my pick out items that would travel well. I walked around the store and didn't feel like I was being over watched. It's a thing that happens often. Yum! This place is a hidden gem. It is in an unassuming part of Palm Spring. Kind of feels like it's in a business park. But, inside, the place is vibrant, cozy, and welcoming. The staff are friendly and helpful. I ordered a Cubano sandwich and enjoyed it with a cup of warm chai under the tree on a bench outside the shop looking out into the mountain range. Nom nom and Om at the same time! :) I'm just passing through town but if I were a local, I'd be here multiple times a week. Besides the great food options, there is a vegan market / shop inside - everything from pantry items to refrigerated or frozen vegan staples to more indulgent items like dessert. They also have T-shirts and reusable bags or bamboo cutlery to reduce single-use plastic. Yay Tonya's kitchen! Will be back when I'm next in Palm Springs. Very tasty and savory vegan guadalajara burger. It was incredible in and of itself without needing to be reminiscent of a burger, although it sure looked like one. The interior is a charming 2 room diner with metal tables, little plant friendly decor and items on sale. A pretty outside, with shade and misters so you could sit out there. Oh, this place is going on my MUST list whenever I am in the Palm Desert area. Located in a hidden corner of this huge parking lot is this 3-section location, but whatever door you walk through, you will be greeted by the nicest people and get the some amazing vegan treats. As pointed out in previous reviews, I am not a vegan (nor have anything against them) but I am a woman of flavor and food. So, in searching for something that will fill me up but not make me feel bloated, and in supporting local businesses, Chef Tanya's Kitchen did all of that. I asked what the popular items were and the young individual behind the counter recommended one item from each section of the menu: sandwiches, tempeh powerburgers, and salads. One was the Chupacabra Chick'n sandwich which had house-pickeled jalapeños and I fear heat, so I didn't pick that. The other was the Guadalajara! Tempeh Powerburger. Both sounded delicious, and I went with the Guadalajara! Let me tell you how delicious THIS is. In between the potatoe buns are layers of delicious mess. It was not wise of me to cut it half (I was given a knife, but not a fork, so it got messy) but I delighted myself in its flavor. The tempeh (which is a plant-based "burger" of soybeans), impressed me. I had it before, but store bought, and this tempeh powerburger was nothing like what i have tasted. They make their tempeh in-house too! With the tempeh was caramelized onions, slabs of guacamole, your standard lettuce and tomatoes, melty cheese, and Chipotle mayo. There were slices of Chile in there, but I did not taste the heat, and that is perfect for me. I washed it down with a beautiful special drink that was in a large jug behind the counter. When I asked the cashier what was available to drink, they pointed to the bottled drinks in the fridge or the beets and orange beverage behind the counter. Yup! I went with the delicious purple (beets and orange) drink. I highly recommend. For dessert, I took a small, but full of flavor, Peanut Butter Cup Parfait. I picked it up from the to-go refrigerated section. This was layered with chocolate chips and a sweet peanut buttery layer. It was the perfect serving to treat me to this amazing dinner. This kitchen not only serves food, but they serve their desserts in one of the three sections of this kitchen. They also see organic homegoods. I picked up this eucalyptus vapor tablets in a jar. The tablets evaporate in the shower and prodcues an invigorating, wake me up, steam. Respect. Well, if you read this far into the journey of eating vegan food, then I recommend visiting Chef Tanya's Kitchen. Love, love, love this place! It's not too often that I come across a vegan/vegetarian restaurant that I actually like. And Chef Tanya's, they nailed it. If I could, I'd eat here every day, their food here is so flavorful and delicious. My favorite here was the pastrami mami, I have no idea how they made this sandwich taste so good, but it's phenomenal. My friend and I also tried the loaded sweet potato fries, and it was also yummy. I also love how this store/restaurant is full of random trinkets, to recipe books, to t-shirts, and desserts. This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in the desert, and I'm not even vegan! The vibes and welcoming atmosphere of this restaurant are absolutely amazing. All their food tastes great and makes you feel fantastic. Every time I eat here, I leave feeling good. My favorite items are definitely the chili fries and the Modern Hippie sandwich (their crack cheese is incredible!). It's also fun to shop around and check out all the cool products they offer. The CTK empire has expanded again! If you've eaten at Chef Tanya's Kitchen before, then you already know about the amazing, flavorful, plant-based food she creates. Her Kreamery, as expected, doesn't disappoint. On a recent visit to Palm Springs, I got to chatting with the gals at the PS location and mentioned that I really loved the expanded Palm Desert location. Did I know about the Kreamery that just opened right next door to the Palm Desert location, they asked me. Nope, but I sure do now! You bet I made it a priority to check this spot out. Vegan Soft Serve. Made with Oat milk. Yesssssss. Their specialty is the Haboob - think Blizzard from that "Dairy" place, but so much better. I can't recommend the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie one enough. So much yum. Also on the menu are breakfast goodies from 7am -11am. Bagels, muffins, breakfast sandos and burritos. I really want to like this place but they seriously need some more gluten free options! I really wanted to try a burger or sandwich but the only options for gluten free were SALADS! I ordered the Thai Tofu Salad... it was OK, I just prefer not to eat salads with lots of chunky leaves. Also, it seemed that all of the desserts were made with sugar. Lovely decor, and while the prepare your food you can just wander around and explore all the little specialty foods and eco items for sale. But I wouldn't care about any of that if the food wasn't bomb! It was just so good... and it felt healthy. So many vegan restaurants rely on fried processed foods but not this place. read more

wow the El Cubano sandwich is delicious. the seitan is warm but the cabbage is fresh and crisp. the bread is so soft. love the marinade for the seitan. the mayo and mustard tie it all together to make the perfect sub sandwich. came back the next night and got the peanut butter parfait for dessert and it's amazing. chocolate chips and cookie or cake crumble on top and crumble on the bottom. definitely recommend. perfect size. great flavor. such a fun treat. read more

This is without a doubt, our favorite restaurant in Palm Desert. Everything from sandwiches to salads to freshly made juices are amazing, and of course, don't forget to have the famous chili cheese fries. That cracked cheese is to die for.
