I'm so happy I found this place on yelp. I was craving jajangmyeon one night, and since I live in SSF, San Tung and Zazang were both too far for me. Good ol' handy yelp to the rescue! From the outside, you would never think that this restaurant would serve jajangmyeon..but we gave it a try and have no regrets. Their menu is mostly chinese food, but they do have a korean menu and it is literally in Korean. I wish they would have one with english translations but they do also have pictures posted on their walls of some of the korean dishes. We ordered a half half dish - half jajangmyeon and half jampong (seafood noodle soup). It comes in one bowl that has a divider in the middle. We also ordered tangsuyuk (korean sweet sour pork). The jajangmyeon was delicious, and abundant in sauce. I do tend to like it with a little less sauce but the flavor is delicious. The jampong could be improved on; the noodles and seafood were delicious and fresh, but the broth itself was very bland. The pork, omg, the PORK. That was the winning dish. SO MUCH FLAVOR in one bite and the meat was incredibly tender and juicy. Came back a second to order just the jajangmyeon cause it's bomb AF. I will def keep coming back! read more

The owner will overcharge you so check your receipt. I initially ordered over the phone and she said it was ~$65. I called back a few minutes later Ito cancel. Later on in the day I decided to order again but used an app to order the same items and it was $10 cheaper and this is not due to a discount. Normally there is an up charge per item on apps so the owner seems to have charged me more that $10 extra cost. Ehh. Ordered from Grub Hub. Food came just at the end of the estimated delivery time which wasn't that big of a deal. Have had way better chinese food, though. Mongolian beef (I requested for them to add broccoli and fresh mushroom) but they did not acknowledge the request even though I was aware they would add an extra charge. Needless to say no added fresh mushroom or broccoli was added to my Mongolian Beef :( It resembled nothing close to mongolian beef and lacked any flavor!!! Super disappointed. Moved to the area 14 months ago and have been trying out different Chinese restaurants in the area and this place is the best so far. I love their beef and peppers and their fortune cookies are yummy, too. But I don't know why none of the restaurants here include crispy noodles with their soups. The only Chinese-Korean place in the area that I know serves jajangmyeon noodles. Pretty good here but I'm comparing this to Bay Area standards. Nothing compared to SoCal but it does its job. Tried several other dishes and all pretty decent here. Been here 10+ times and will continue to come here as long as I still work in Burlingame. read more

Our trusty chinese food delivery for our Friday nights for the past 11+ years! We were a family of three when we first moved to the area and learned about Chef Wang through my husband's past job in an ambulance company, now we are a house of eight and they've gotten to know us pretty well. No shame. This place is by no means extrordinaire, extra, or extravagant; but you get what you want and it tastes like it should- no weird veggies or flavors that are unfamiliar, which is especially great for picky-eater children. If you don't want a certain item in your food, tell them- for instance, I don't eat pork and they make sure to leave it out. Portion sizes per family is plenty- who doesn't care Chinese food leftovers for breakfast?! Prices are decent, not overpriced like some places in the area. Some nights they are very busy and overloaded with deliveries- please be patient during these times and not all days are like that. Their Chicken Wings are amazing. Next time I will order them without sauce as I always takeout and do not eat right away. Even with the sauce the wings manage to stay crispy. I've ordered from here twice n the last two weeks. Their bbq pork was very dry, almost like jerky. The fried shrimp was okay. The wor won ton soup was the just ok as well. I like tomato beef chow mein. Is tasted good except very little beef, tomatoes and onions. Needs more veggies. Ordered pickup, and everything was ready when I got there. The restaurant was pretty quiet but it was very clean and looked well kept. I was able to peak into the kitchen and from what I saw it looked clean. The food itself was delicious and hit the spot. Servings and portion for price was awesome. Guys, there is a legit Korean Chinese restaurant on the peninsula! ASK FOR THE SUPER SECRET YET NOT SO SECRET KOREAN MENU. They will not - I repeat - will not hand out the said super korean menu when you arrive. They DO have Korean items in Korean only on the walls. Because I can read Korean I ordered the tang su yuk (Korean sweet and sour pork dish) and jajangmyun (Korean style black bean noodles). I've eaten an ungodly amount of these things over the last 7 years with my bf-now fiance. And while these dishes are a bit oily and contain zero thrills I love the location! You seriously cannot get this anywhere else on the peninsula. You must travel up the great stairs...to Oakland and to Santa Clara. So goddangit 3.5 star food tastes like 5 stars!!! On Saturday the 4th we ordered food for dinner via GrubHub so delivery was set to about 60-70 min as expected. Note that we are not reviewing dining experience, only the food delivery quality. PROS: We ordered dinner for 8 people so this order was hefty. As always expectations were that if the food got here hot or even warm we were happy considering the 60-70 min delivery time frame. Well the food got here piping HOT as though it was just poured in the food containers straight from the Wok a minute prior. It took the full 60 mins for delivery from time it was ordered as expected but this food temperature didn't cool, unless it was microwaved, but I like to think positively. The string beans were crispy so I'm sure it wasn't microwaved. There are no cons on our food delivery quality experience. It was our first try at this Chinese food place and they served us great a hefty order and everything was HOT. FINAL THOUGHT: We would order food for delivery here again! read more

After going through some receipts tonight, I realized I took home both the merchant and customer copies of the credit card transaction. In essence, Chef Wang wouldn't know what tip amount to enter without the merchant copy. I looked over my online credit card transaction history and the restaurant went ahead anyway and gave themselves a 15% tip to the total. I'm a bit conflicted on what to do, because on one hand, the amount they charged me is less than what I wrote on the merchant copy, but on the other hand, is it even legal for them to charge more than the total without a signed merchant receipt? I'm sad to say I had a really bad experience here. I can tell you that I've worked at many restaurants before and even act as a quality check at some, so my tastebuds are on point. It all started with the hot and sour soup. The color was a pale yellowish color. Uncharacteristic for a hot and sour soup. Next was the taste... It was pretty much like water and pepper. It had no flavor to it what so ever. We also ordered the Szechuan greenbean chicken. This was delicious had a great flavor! We thought our soup was just a fluke and the rest if the meal was gonna be just as good as the chicken. We were so wrong. Jajang myun - um ok. It looked liked jajang myun and tasted like nothing. Seriously. It tasted like water and noodles. You see the theme of 2/3 of our meal tasting like water? Because it literally had NO FLAVOR. This might have been the up and down quality you yelpers were taking about. I'm so disappointed. This was not restaurant quality food. Might give it another try to see if anything changes. Dear Owner of Chef Wang, Pay attention to your temperature of your wok !!!!!!!! We have been loyal customers to you for many many years and always tip your staff well. We order the same thing: jajanmyun and gam bong sae yo (crispy shrimp). I have to say- for the past month, we have been to your restaurant 3 times and your crispy shrimp is not crispy at all. We know why too. Your chef doesnt wait till the oil is fully hot to fried the shrimp so the result is soggy shrimps! This has happened 3 times already in a row. As a result, I am bumping my ratings down. Pay attention to temperature of the wok. Your shrimp used to be so mouth watering good but this is too frequent. I am worried that you do not care about the quality of your food and I think you need a low rating from me as a wake up call. Dont be lazy and take time to cook your food well in the right temperature. 3 times in a row is a sign that your standards is not there. read more

I would give it 3.5 stars for having Korean-Chinese food done decently well, but I have to say it's not really amazing enough to be rounded up to a 4-star place. **this review is based on their Korean-Chinese food only** Thank you fellow Yelpers for helping me find a place to take D to satisfy his late-night jajangmyun (noodles in black bean sauce) cravings after a long week of work. If we were in the East Bay, we would've made a beeline for Koryo Jajang (aka Yetnal!) for their greasy but tasty $3.95 jajangmyun, but alas, the bay stood in our way. This place isn't huge, but it's just a few doors down from Millbrae Karaoke as a point of reference. We had the jajangmyun and the tang soo yook (sweet & sour pork?). We appreciated that the deep fried pork in the tang soo yook was thin and crispy. I wish I had asked for the sauce on the side, though, since the thin and crispy texture was gone after swimming in the sweet sauce for a few minutes. I found the sauce a little too sweet, but nothing a little dip in my family-tested soy sauce / vinegar combo couldn't solve. There was nothing particularly amazing about the noodles (often hand-pulled at other places) or the sauce in the black bean noodles... but there were no complaints from us, considering we landed there around 9 pm. Nothing to write home about, but a decent go-to in the neighborhood the next time we crave more Korean-Chinese food. It sucks to give a restaurant that I use to love going to now a 2 star. I wanted to give it 1 but there were some positive times. My family and I have been coming here since about 5 years ago because the quality of food was pretty good for the price. Big portions and so tasty. Especially there dan dan noodles and house special noodles, which they make the noodles themselves. All that has changed now. We ordered take out the other day and wow. It was really just crap. We ordered the tomato beef, which had a whole lot of vegetables and like 5 pieces of beef in it. They tried covering it up with vegetables and sauce, but you can tell from the gecko there was barely any meat. We also ordered a stir fry tofu vegetable dish. Tell me why were there noodle mixed in it? Seems like they were just trying to fill up space in the take out with noodles. Seriously how cheap. With noodles, they definitely cut the portion size to half of what they served when I first came here. The food has definitely declined in the years I've been going. They have been going really cheap with their entrees by filling it with more vegetables and now, noodles. There is barely any meat in dishes you order that has combo of meat and vegetables. Not only that, but you are paying about $8-10 for an entree. So prices have gone up whereas quality has gone down. What really made me upset the other day was when they gave me the change, they gave me all small coins! 70 cents in dimes and nickels. Ugh. Turn away and don't come here. Ja jang myun - pretty decent for Peninsula! The noodles were cooked perfectly, chewy and yummy! The black bean sauce was okay, needed a bit more salt and it seemed temperature wise not super hot. We also got the Salt & Pepper pork chop lunch special for 5.95. With it, came a two-gulp serving of hot and sour soup, the entree with white rice, and slice of orange and a fortune cookie. The pork chop was HELLA GOOD, battered and deep fried, it came with scallions and jalapenos on the side....delicious! And very generous portion roughly 6 pieces of pork chop..granted it was thin but very tasty. Total before tip? $13.50! We were so stuffed, we were fighting ourselves to make room to finish it all! I've been a loyal customer for almost ten years. I've came here for simple lunches and dinners, family events, for take out, snacks, and what have it.. I knew that I would like this place when I came here for the second time ever and my fortune cookie told me a special event would occur in the next month (my birthday); well, what do you know... I may as well celebrate my birthday there too! Of course, it was special, my birthday had landed on Mother's Day that year. This place is inexpensive and a lot of great foods! There's a Korean/Chinese menu with the Lunch Special in English on the backside, as well as a separate menu with all of the foods listed in English. There are also special dishes listed on the wall, such as spare ribs in black bean sauce and steamed flounder. They serve kimchi for free and ever since they changed management, they offer complimentary mandu for every table. And when the bill comes, they offer sliced oranges and fortune cookies. YAY! I almost always order jjajangmyun and walnut prawns. But all of their foods on their menu is really good. They serve A LOT, so I suggest eating in large parties. read more

With out a doubt in my opinion the best Chinese restaurant in Millbrae, not the Peninsula but in MIllbrae. And Millbrae has a plethora of chinese/asian restaurants to choose from. The ambiance here is nothing fancy, just a nice simple clean restaurant, very spacious & located right on El Camino Real & I live around the corner from Chef Wang. So now the food. First off the prices are simply just amazing & the portion sizes are big. Wether you eat in or take out the service is great & food comes out fast. Some things that you just much try are their Mu-Shu Pork, Generals Chicken, any of the chow miens, the noodles are the thick type with just the right amount of sauce, you cant go wrong with any of the apps & my new favorite is the Crispy Ginger Chicken. A plus about Chef Wang's is that it offers Mandarin, Hunan, & Szechuan styles of cooking. So you get a variety of taste and flavors. Overall Chef Wangs is great, it's your basic american chinese food with hints of traditional food as well. With out a doubt a great place to eat. You will not be disappointed. read more

Chef Wang Restaurant has been in business for many years in Millbrae and is well known for excellent customer service and delicious food at very reasonable prices. It offers the best Lunch Specials and delivers to nearby areas. My favorite dishes there are Shrimp Egg Fooyung, Salted Fish Fried Rice, Seafood Soup, Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, among many more. The restaurant has a very casual ambiance, nothing fancy with decor but clean and in a very convenient location. This place is a rare find in the peninsula. Yeah there are places like this in the south bay, East bay, and SF. But near SFO it's just pizza joints, rolling pin donuts, and chain restaurants. Jam bong and jajang mein is nicely executed. You just got get passed the exterior and interior decor. This is definitely not a fancy sit in restaurant. I love this place as it has items like the above for my Korean style tastes as well as my fiancee and her kid's americanized Chinese palate. read more

I've eaten here lots of times over the years of travel to/around the peninsula area and have always been 'satisfied', until the last two visits. Apparently, there is a female waitress that has an attitude/negative? The food has almost always been very good (but I seem to remember luncheon specials that were a bit more/quantity food?). Now, the main serving is small and your rice serving is small. This place serves you these in separate dishes (good idea but only if you have generous helpings). When you are a bit skimpy w/food servings, two dishes look empty. Again, food is still very good, so the chef still cooks great. This female waitress is my beef (no pun) the last 2-times I've visited. First time, I thought she was having a bad day? But I left a good tip (25%), hoping she would be appreciative? Well, NOT. Came back the following week and she gave me even more "attitude". She was more abrupt, curt and smug. Like she was 'doing me a favor' taking my order and getting my food (place was not busy, either). Then, I guess I didn't know the 'secret' to get kim-chee (which all the other Asians seated in the establishment had but none for me). She volunteered it to them, where I had to ask (and didn't). My cup of hot/sour soup was also about 1/2 filled, too (just like the last time). I looked around and all the other/Asian customers had full soup-cups (most to the brim). While I'm not saying she is "racist", it certainly was not a coincidence all this happened to me (both visits) and all the other/Asian diners seemed satisfied? I'm not going to make any more of this than I already have. This time, I left a smaller tip (just less than 15%). I will not be back. There are no less than 50 other Chinese restaurants in a 5-10 block radius. I will patronize those. read more

If you are a Korean and have been searching for good ja jang myun as I have been, then this is the place for you. Their noodles are hand pulled and the sauce is quite good, although I'd prefer more meat and zucchinis instead of just a lot of onions. It's $6.50 for a bowl! And it comes with kimchi! OMG!
