Chefs is like a real ass diner. Don't come here if you don't like real ass diners. I love it here. Probably one of the best waffles I've ever had. And the coffee is that perfect diner Bunn coffee pot coffee. They don't have milk alternatives, shut up. Open the half and half pod and drink like 3 coffees and then go bulldoze yourself through a wall. Definitely come here if you have to wake up early and do a lot that day. The portions here are huge, so eat a huge breakfast and then get everything you needed to do that day done. read more

I love Chef's Coffee Shop! It is a great little diner on the corner of Santa Anita and Live Oak, next to the Chevron gas station. It has a parking lot in the back where you can enter from either street. Each time my family and I have come here, the food is always cooked well, and the portions are ample. I feel like we end up bringing back about half the food home. My daughters love their kids breakfast. Their pancakes, waffles, biscuits with gravy...mmmMMmm, all so yummy. The waitress (Beth) always takes good care of us and is very sweet. Also, if you're ever needing pies for the holidays, order your pies here! The chocolate pie is my favorite. read more

Love this place! There was somehow no wait for two when we arrived at around 12:30pm on a Sunday. Food was good, coffee was hot, service was great. Classic Diner. It's right across from Savers too if you're a fan of thrifting. Note: They close at 2pm so arrive before 1:30 for a table. Came in today for the omelette special and extra crispy hash browns. It was so bomb with sourdough toast. This is my second visit here and it was a nice full house this morning. The menu is great, the food is generous and delicious, the ambiance is classic, it's just wonderful. The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is that the waitress got multiple things in our orders wrong. That didn't make the food bad, just wrong. I had the Pumpkin Slam: two eggs, two strips of bacon, two sausage links, and two pumpkin pancakes. The pumpkin pancakes were some of the best I've ever had - no need for syrup. Chef's is not the first restaurant to operate at 13 E Live Oak. Our folks Ned and Lucille Watts built the building in 1957-58 and called it the Pie King Family Restaurant. It operated very successfully from 1958-1966 under my mother's watchful eye. Our father passed away in 1961 leaving her and the 40 employees to further our father's vision of delicious food. Chefs has been my local favorite. I am glad it still exists keeping a vintage diner/coffee shop style with an American style breakfast with some Mexican dishes to add. The service and hospitality has been great ever since the turn around from Covid. The coffee is great and they usually have daily/weekly specials adding on to the menu. Pre-covid, I would frequent this place. Everyone was friendly and cheerful. Something changed after COVID. Everyone working there, led by the owner Michelle, is always jeering and snarling. After waiting for more than 5 minutes for a seat at the counter, you can't even let them know that you exist by waving and smiling at the hostess without them shaking their heads as if you did something wrong. Everyone, led by the owner, seems as if they don't enjoy working there. If so, please feel free to close or sell the place. Your patrons deserve better service. read more
