Very clean and cozy environment. Plenty of upfront parking. Food is absolutely delicious and served fast. Portions are very generous. Pancakes are fluffy and moist. Not a dry edge at all. First of all, I'd like to say that I did take the pandemic into consideration before writing this review. They had a "help wanted" sign on the window. I feel they really deserve 1 star but are perhaps struggling. My server was Natalia.. I ordered an iced tea with extra ice. I was brought the tea not filled all the way up. She sat it down and walked away. When she was walking by I asked for sweet n low. She sat 2 Splendas on the table and walked away. I figured maybe that was the only sweetener they had I ordered the Mexican melt. Pastrami. I had it with fries. I asked also for a side of the breakfast gravy to try it. The pastrami was very thickly sliced. Hard to bite through. I've always been of the opinion that pastrami should be thinly sliced and piled high. This was one sad sandwich and hard to eat. The fries were soft and bland. I couldn't stomach them. The gravy tasted old and seemed to be congealed. It tasted like oil and had no seasoning. One of the worst gravies I've ever had. The only thing I liked on my plate was my pickle. Even that was warm and flimsy after being buried in the fries. While eating I noticed some disturbing things. The older lady(maybe the owner) came and bussed a table without a mask. She had a stack of order papers in her hand. The cook walked out without a mask and then dropped something, picked it up, and went back to the kitchen I let my server know my gravy tasted old and asked for it to be removed from my check. She told the other lady who rudely came to my table and said "we took it off but it was not old." Chelly's cafe was one of the first establishments I visited in Palmdale, and we've not been disappointed in our two (today will be three) visits. 2020 has been a year of changes, setbacks, and disappointment for many people in many ways. But Chelly's has seemed to be still as busy as I imagine they were pre-COVID, with customers outside and curbside waiting for food and employees hustling to fill orders. Once I looked at the menu and tried the Guadalajara Skillet, it was easy to see why. This establishment excels at offering a variety of choices for numerous palates for brunch. With dozens of items on the menu, and numerous create your own options, it seems like everybody has a choice at Chelly's. The food itself was freshly prepared and flavorful and a good portion size. Prices are reasonable for LA County and the quality and portion of food received. I am thankful that this was our first stop when we arrived in Palmdale, and we will definitely continue to support this business over the years. We've been coming to this place almost 10 years now! We know the owner because our kids went to school together but even if it's your first time meeting her and coming to her amazing place, she treats you like your family! Everyone here works with a great smile and a kind heart. Their food is also delicious and just like you're having a yummy homemade meal. The muffins (especially the blueberry) are all so moist and tasty and the best sweet treat! Every holiday there are decorations and I love that about this place. I always order their greek omelette and it's always perfect! We also love their French toast and their classic two egg breakfast. And dont forget to add a side of salsa!!!! This is the only breakfast location in the mall area that I know of besides IHOP. Thus it is especially busy for breakfast, especially on the weekends. I have been there weekends and weekdays and it has always been busy. They do not seem to employ very many waitresses, I've always seen the same two and the owner. They rush around the restaurant taking care of everyone, but its a pretty long wait if you need anything after you order. The restaurant can be very noisy and the glare from the windows makes it difficult to see. They have curtains on most of the windows but the main doors are not shaded and thus cause quite a bit of glare. The food is just ok. The muffins are advertised as being homemade, but really the blueberry muffin seemed kind of dry and crumbly to me. I got scrambled eggs and home fries and the eggs were a little on the wet side, but they were alright. The strawberry waffle had a cinnamon taste to it that I think was part of the batter. Everything was ok, but nothing that I would go out of my way for. The atmosphere combined with the just ok food makes me more likely to go to another breakfast place in the future. read more

Absolutely one of my favorite breakfast spots in Palmdale. We usually go for breakfast on the weekends. They are always busy which is a good thing. Be prepared to wait specially if you are with a large group. Everyone is really friendly which makes us feel welcomed. The prices are reasonable and is well worth the wait. I usually have waffles with eggs and sausage. I add strawberries, powdered sugar and whip cream on my waffles. There sandwiches and chilaquiles are also delicious. Make you try their salsa with your food. They always keep my coffee cup topped off which is great. Just Tip: If you are the type who likes to sit around with friends to talk, read books or just be on your phone, KEEP IN MIND that there are hungry customers that want to eat.
