We attended a tea here, as a group of 4. We had a reservation, and it seems they stagger the reservations every 15 minutes for the tea. The day we went there was maybe a handful of tables seated for the tea. It was very quiet as the restaurant is not open for dining at this time it seems. The hostess was... honestly I am not sure how to describe it. We arrived, told her we had a reservation for 2pm and she stated we could sit and wait inside the lobby. When she sat us, she didnt say a word. I even tried to make a joke with her and ZERO reaction, no response, nothing. We thanked her for seating us and giving us our napkins for our laps, nothing. Not a word, not a smile... just VERY weird and uncomfortable. She did this all guests she sat. It was honestly uncomfortable. Our waiter comes over and he was the complete opposite, thankfully. He was very nice, and talkative and helpful. The tea was REALLY good - I got the only decaf option and I believe it had a blueberry flavor. It was very delicious. The food was ok. It was average for a tea. Another plus was we were seated with a window view.

This review is for the Afternoon Tea experience and my heart goes out to the beautifully dressed couples that were sadly turned away on Valentines Day due to a surprise change in their booking mechanisms just a week prior. I booked a room at the Queen Mary for Valentines Day months earlier and followed the instructions of the rep who booked my room to reserve the Afternoon Tea experience via the Queen Mary's website that led to Open Table. Just 8 days prior I was luckily contacted to say they are no longer honoring Open Table and was sent a link to a 3rd party site to book and pay ahead. There was 2 spots left at this time. It seems upon arrival, not everyone got that same notice. Families were dressed up specially for the event, made the trip, paid the $40 parking only to be turned away by the host, standing next to an Open Table award, saying they nolonger accepted Open Table bookings, they were full. My heart really goes out to those families. Doubly so, as we were led to our table for the time slot, only to find the place was hardly full at all at the time slot but slowly over the hour more tables were filled. But nothing close to capacity. Also want to point out that although the location was nice, having stayed and explored the ship, it was clear there were countless other greater, more historic locations that this event could have been held in. The tea itself was very nice, both Luke and Alicia were able to walk us through the tea, making accommodations for a food allergy. But oddly enough the printed menu was not exactly what we were served. "Due to their special Valentines Day menu" After a few disappointing ommissions from the printed menus on our table aside the event was enjoyable.

Surprisingly very good food! I was expecting bar food but this is actually a classy restaurant. The only reason why I didn't give 4 stars was because we were told we didn't need reservations but when we arrived they were sold out for the entire night. Thankfully they serve food while sitting at the bar. Cheers to the bar staff who made us feel welcomed and timed our drinks, appetizers and meals perfectly.

    Empty restaurant

The hostess was the most rude girl I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. We arrrived right at 5 after touring the Queen Mary. She ignored us for several minutes before finally asking if we had a reservation. We didn't but the restaurant was literally empty. She sat us in the back by the walk and when I asked to sit by the window she told me no that she was saving those for reservations. It's 5 on a Thursday. 1 hour in and 4 parties finally showed up here. They need someone who actually cares about their job and patrons to be the one greeting and seating customers. Our waiter Angel was awesome but honestly, starting the meal the way we did ruined the experience for me.

My Fiancee and I met with the Queen Mary coordinator here to go over our menu selections for our event. Neither of us ate here before. However, everything was fabulous! The decor / ambiance of it was very nice and classy. The waiters we had at our table were simply great. They were helpful, funny, and professional. The food was simply amazing. Oh my god, we walked out of there not in want for anything more. If you haven't been here before, then you need to give it a try.

Great restaurant on the Queen Mary. The food was amazing. The service was awesome and the ambiance was nice. The decoration of the food was nice as well. A little pricy, but that's what to expect regarding seafood.

Me and my partner decided to stop by before our event. We were welcomed by Elizabeth who was great and our server Ruben was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The vibe was nice and the view was great. Food was very tasty. I ordered the salmon and was not disappointed. Can't wait to return !

You never know what to expect at restaurants at tourist attractions. This was surprisingly great. We started with steamed mussels- which were just fine. The entrees were stunning, especially the Choppino - there's half a lobster in there as well as plenty of other tasty seafood. My partner had the scallops, which delighted her. Service was great - friendly and funny too. Ambience - well it's the Queen Mary!

I had the pleasure of having a date on The Queen Mary with my partner visiting from PA and it was fantastic! Our servers were very kind and attentive, checking in frequently with us but not too much. I decided to try something new too and had the fresh caught swordfish and it was delicious, I'm usually very picky with vegetables but it paired well with all the side dishes. I'm glad we had gone at such a decent time as well to where we could see the ocean view from our spot while the sun was setting. I definitely recommend going here, and if you have the time catch the ghost tour after too!

This was definitely a unique restaurant, and that is the main reason we came. With that being said, the food was mediocre at best, but the view and service were decent. The filet mignon was not worth it. It was bland, but cooked well. The fish and chips were decent. The clam chowder and creme brulee were the stand out food items. I would get those two items again. Very expensive meal that was not worth the price. The server was attentive and nice. The whole ambiance is definitely different. The view is gorgeous. Since we came on a Monday, it was less crowded. TLTR: ok food, great view with good clam chowder and creme brulee

A very unique and special restaurant on the 1930s Queen Mary overlooking the picturesque Long Beach Harbor and city lights. We had the seafood tower, market salad and Clam Chowder. All excellent. The price is in line with other high service restaurants like Roy's Hawaiian Restaurant or Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Take your special date or loved ones to this restaurant once in a while. You'll never forget the experience.

It wasn't even close to full. They're clearly holding people outside on purpose to create fake hype, which is honestly pretty messed up. You're telling me dozens of people are stuck waiting forever while there's plenty of room inside? It's giving manufactured crowd and poor management. To make it worse, they stopped serving drinks and turned the lights on at 1:15 AM, way earlier than literally any normal bar. So after wasting hours in line, you barely even get time inside. And it somehow gets worse -- at 1:35 AM they were literally kicking people out of the restroom. We weren't even allowed to finish or wash our hands before being rushed out. That's not just rude, it's straight up unhygienic and disrespectful. Overall, completely overhyped, disorganized, and not worth the wait at all. Don't fall for the line -- it's fake.

This hidden gem lives inside the newly renovated Fairmont Breakers in Long Beach, and for all my Fairmont regulars: relax, you're in good hands, their world-renowned elegance remains intact. PARKING Valet is only $10, which in Southern California basically qualifies as a love language. (Note to Fairmont Breakers Management: Listen up, my friends! Please keep it that way, gas is $5.97/gallon and my wallet is already in therapy.) I handed the valet a $5 tip before I even stepped out of my car, just so I could glide into the lobby feeling like a full‑blown princess making her grand entrance. Before you leave, you simply pay the valet in cash or card and they'll have your car right there before you can even blink. AMBIANCE Walk in and boom! A towering, beautifully decorated Christmas tree greets you like it's auditioning for a holiday movie. Check out my photos; the whole lobby whispers one word: sophisticated. Oooh, I love that tree! Hang a right, stroll to the end of the hall, and you'll find ALTER EGO, a dark, cozy lounge that feels like the perfect hideaway for a date where you actually want to hear each other talk. Live music starts at 7 PM, the bar closes at 10, and honestly... that's ideal for those of us over 50 who consider 10 PM the witching hour for pajamas. Rob Fontana was performing tonight, and his music was so good I found myself time‑traveling back to the good old days. Every song hit, Rob. Good job! SERVICE Our server, Nia, was a star. Attentive, sharp memory, and smooth service all the way through. Zero notes. FOOD The menu is small, so if you show up ravenous, pace yourself or plan to Uber home after a cocktail‑heavy evening. I'm allergic to cheese, so I had to double‑check ingredients, but the Mushroom Flatbread was outstanding, flavor was superb and the best part was they did not skimp on the mushrooms! A+ for that. I also tried the Prosciutto di Parma with melon, which is a strange combo for a California girl... but hey, I never said I wasn't a weirdo. Drinks are not my thing since I enjoy company without alcohol's help, so I can't help you with that. DATE‑WORTHY OR NOT? Absolutely. Alter Ego gets a double thumbs‑up from me and a strong recommendation for your next Silver Singles date. It's easy to find, the seating is comfortable (even for those of us with backs that like to complain), and they even offer tube pillows for extra support. Tell me that's not romance.

False Advertising and Total Failure of a "Speakeasy"…read more This place should not call itself a speakeasy. According to their website, they are strict about dress code, reservations, and no large parties. None of that was enforced. People arrived wearing sports clothes, tennis shoes, and flip-flops, and a group of more than 10 people was allowed in. That group was loud, drunk, and screaming, completely destroying any speakeasy ambiance. We had a reservation booked one week in advance for 2 tables of six, yet by 8:30 pm, we were told no food was available, despite the bar being almost empty. The water was already on the table when we arrived and tasted strongly of chlorine, with no ice. The waitress was clearly new, untrained, and unprepared. She did not know the menu, didn't know how to take an order properly, and provided no guidance whatsoever. There was one bartender Ricardo, who took over an hour to prepare cocktails and showed no sense of urgency or care. The dramatic cocktail descriptions sounded impressive, but the drinks did not match the descriptions at all. Because of the delays, we were never even able to properly toast or celebrate our friend. The charcuterie board took forever and arrived with an absurd amount of cheese and only six pieces of bread. To make things worse, part of the food we ordered never arrived at all. The live jazz band advertised and promised never showed up. When asked, the staff responded with: "I don't know, they were supposed to be here. I don't have their phone number." That level of disorganization is unacceptable. At the end of the night, we were shocked to receive a check close to $600 for two tables, despite each person only having one cocktail and shared food. The bartender, Ricardo, approached us and said: "Well, sorry, we really tried tonight! It wasn't the best, but we tried." Honestly, that comment made the experience even more frustrating. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if they hadn't "tried."That statement perfectly summarizes the problem -- trying is not enough when everything fails. I would not recommend this place for a speakeasy experience. This is not a speakeasy. It's a poorly run bar hiding behind a concept it does not deliver. Do not recommend.

Definitely worth it! The vibes are unmatched. It's a unique blend of "top notch cocktail crafting" and "beer and a hot pretzel after work." You can dress up, you can dress down, it's very 'just be yourself' which I love. I've literally had caviar AND hot dogs there in the same night at an event. They know how to blend high/low. Incredible knowledge and ingredients but not snooty patootie. Super inclusive and fun, with cool popups and events happening all the time. It's a full bar so you can get any cocktail you would normally order if you're keeping it simple, or beer, wine, boilermakers, etc. There's a span of offerings and price points, so something for everyone. (Also really good N/A cocktails!) The menu is super inventive and creative! And the cocktail menu changes out every so often so there are new things to try. This area is vintage vibes and Baby Gee speaks it fluently. Really cool decor, curated by the owners who design everything from the playlist to the cocktails to the invention of never-before-seen flavors and shapes of jello shots. It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.
