Met Her At A Bar is Santa Monica Main street at its absolute best. My husband and I have lived here for 10+ years and this is our new favorite restaurant in Santa Monica! Great ambiance, delicious food, and great service. It somehow manages to marry the polished, fun vibe of a trendy LA restaurant with the warm, nostalgic comfort of childhood. The design of the restaurant is gorgeous. The food is 10/10. The cappuccino is very strong. It's warm and welcoming. Thai omelette, waffles, pastas and salmon are all bomb.com. Our toddler is partial to the fresh squeezed orange juice and french fries. We've been here 8 times in the last 3 weeks and look forward to many more excellent meals here! read more

After going for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all I can say is thank you for bringing this fantastic new restaurant to Main Street! I've been to the 1st location on La Brea and wished for their superb fried chicken and waffles to be available closer to home. I'm so glad my wish came true! For breakfast had to try their thai omelet and of course the fried chicken and waffle. Both were delicious, although the waffle could've been bit crisper (I went when they had only been open for a week). Went back for lunch of a tuna salad sandwich (very creamy with lots of dill) on a marvelous freshly made chewy bread, and a chopped chicken salad that was well balanced with bright vegetables and tender chicken. Went to celebrate a dinner and had 3 nicely crafted cocktails and 3 apps to start; fried calamari with a marvelous marinara, crispy rice tuna sushi, and perfectly grilled shrimp. For mains we had chicken parmesan, Vodka rigatoni and a bolognaise with added sausage. All the pastas were perfectly prepared and the chicken parmesan was tender and crisp served with a wonderful tomato sauce. Since it was a birthday celebration they gave the birthday girl a scoop of ice cream with a candle! Beautiful ambiance inside and on the patio. Great service, ask for Camden if he's available. I was so excited to try Met Her at a bar when it finally came to to the Westside but sadly it did not meet my expectations. First the positives, the Market Berry Spritz was delicious! It did definitely a place for girls night and I know they are known more for the brunch. When we got there at 6pm on Wednesday, it wasn't incredibly busy but it did pick up. I think they need more servers. But the table that sat down way after we ordered got their food first. So service was slow although they had a good amount of runners and busers. We didn't order anything overly complicated. The bruschetta was ok, it was decent, add the burrata for $6. The rigatoni with vodka was ok, I didn't mind it but my friend unfortunately disliked it a lot. She is a bit of a Italian restaurant snob. My chicken parmesan was a huge portion but it was burnt under all that cheese. We also got the lava cake for dessert and it was mostly cake, less chocolate center. Over all I'll give this another shot for brunch but not for dinner. Parking was easy, paid park one block north. read more

The first thing you notice when you walk in is how nice it is in there. Nice decor, tables, very well lit, etc. Looked fairly posh and I almost felt out of place since I was going to order breakfast. I ordered the Mama omelet which was good but the potatoes that came with it were the most bland potatoes I've ever had! Thank goodness for ketchup I guess. There's not a lot of variety on the menu, in my opinion, so look at it before you go since they only serve some items certain times of the day & evening. The server was nice but didn't check on me. When I wanted the check I had to wait until she was done hanging out at the kitchen looking bored. Not really sure I'll be going back. This latest location of Met Her has only been open 2 weeks, but it's quickly gathering loyal fans from the neighborhood with its bright, cheery decor and even cheerier staff. Big open windows welcome you into a lively room done in yellow and white; a wide & tall bar featuring a vast and colorful array of liquor bottles adds another flourish of happy-making whimsy. Bar stools are soft and comfy, and that's where we decided to settle ourselves for brunch. Our bartender, Nathan, took terrific care of us from start to finish, but there were 2 other folks working the bar as well, and each of them made a point of making conversation with us throughout the meal. This is very friendly team service for sure. Those colorful liquors are put to excellent use in an appealing assortment of cocktails that pair perfectly with brunch; so many, in fact, it's a bit tough to decide on one. After much back and forth, I chose the Market Berry Spritz, a light, sweet, and slightly tart blend of strawberry & lemon puree, prosecco, and Italicus, a Sicilian liqueur with an interesting and complex blend of citrus and herbs. This was a very refreshing drink that brought on just the right, slight brunchy buzz. The food menu is eclectic and equally fun, with all-American mainstays sharing space with some clever, Asian fusion dishes that quickly grab your attention. I was torn between the Thai Chicken & Waffles and the Thai Omelette. I decided on the omelette, and was very happy. Maple Sausage and Red Onions are combined with eggs to make a pancake that's draped over Jasmine Rice and served with a house-made Garlic & Chili Sauce that's very fresh and nicely spicy. The omelette and sauce were first rate (the slightly sweet sausage playing really well with the chili sauce), though I wish the rice had another element or two that would make it moister and a more effective companion to the omelette. Regardless, this was a very tasty, very satisfying dish. My wife ordered the Wake Up Happy, a combo of Eggs, Bacon, Sausage and a very fluffy, really wonderful Waffle. Bacon was cooked to a pleasing crisp while maintaining its flavor, and the maple sausage links (the same as in my omelette) were enhanced by the familial flavors of the maple syrup and maple butter accompanying the waffle. The waffle itself was epic: made with a delicious, malty batter, the Belgian style rectangle was meaty and fluffy inside while sporting just enough crisp on the outside to distinguish itself from a pancake. A bite of this waffle with the butter, syrup, savory egg and plump sausage was just about as close to perfect as a breakfast can get. Even before I paid the check, I already knew I'd be back soon -- but when I saw my other choice (Thai Chicken & Waffles) served to my neighbor at the bar, I knew I'd be back as soon as possible. read more

I came here for a birthday dinner with very high hopes given the commotion over the trio of restaurants; unfortunately there is much to improve on. Not sure if it may be due to the restaurant and kitchen being so new, it was almost as if the BOH and FOH were all new staff. Arriving there was high energy inside, the layout is very unique and considerate of larger parties which was the only thing I found myself to like about the restaurant at the end of the night. Good lighting, beautiful bar and comfy booths. Immediately after connecting with our server I informed him we were celebrating a birthday and he stated they did not do any complimentary deserts which was fine, I was going to ask what options they offered and candles if any but he shut the conversation down by just saying they don't give out free deserts. Diving into appetizers, brussels sprouts for $15 were doused in standard balsamic (nothing special), french fries were pretty standard to taste, Tokyo Caesar for $15 seemed okay (wouldn't order again). Lets talk about the garlic bread, before even ordering I asked my server if he thought a single order was enough for the table (party of 6), HE LIED AND SAID YES. It was two generic slices that were fitting for two and maybe a baby. Pretty underwhelming when the bread hit the table, we almost immediately ordered another serving. Mains, my table ordered their own entrees but our server did suggest a family style dinner; I tasted everyones plate as almost all of us were really unhappy with the quality of the food. I will say the menu is definitely lacking a steak option. I will note something everyone on the floor must be paying attention to is the stacking of any dirty dishes on a table, I found myself constantly piling dishes on my end of the table in hopes of a server or a floor manager stepping in to grab them. Finally I resorted to just flagging anyone down who looked like they worked there given it didn't seem like they had a standard uniform, everyone was in very colorful clothing. The Rigatoni Vodka was 6/10, the only thing that saved it was adding chicken to the dish(up-charge of $8). Sauce was severely deficient in spices perhaps? Completely tasteless. Crispy Chicken Sandwich, 3/10. We sent this back. Nothing to say other than remove from menu, whatever the pickles were coated with was clashing with the dressing the garden salad it came with was in. Margherita Pizza, 4/10. Presentation was very convincing, I was so excited as I had been craving a good Margherita Pizza. Bland. The pizza from the first bite seemed like one of those frozen pizzas you pass in the frozen aisle in a grocery store. I was very disappointed. Salmon, 4/10. Very nicely plated, salmon tasted like very light butter and lemon. Nothing really captivating about the dish and the bland spinach it came with should've gone directly in the garbage. Kids at the table ordered chicken tenders with fries, hard to mess up assuming and kids Rigatoni with butter and cheese was fine, noodles seemed overcooked so to save the dish my sister wanted a small side of the vodka sauce to make it a little less bland. No one mentioned a small side of the sauce was $12. That is something the server should have disclosed. Cocktail Met Him At Sunset was 8/10, the cocktail was very refreshing mango & mezcal, garnished accordingly with a dried Chili . Finally we had enough of the displeased look on my moms face and asked for our bill. $325 wasted. Overall, the expereience left us all really unhappy with the experience and we immediately went to another restaurant in Brentwood to save the birthday dinner. read more

Fantastic staff, absolutely gorgeous interior at their new restaurant. They seriously invested in the decor. The bar, dining rooms and patio are all stunning. Lots of light, sumptuous details. Super star server Grace was the best! Sadly all our food arrived cold or lukewarm. They did their best to resolve but it was a very slow process. Maybe they were having issues in the kitchen. We came here on a Sunday night of a long weekend around 8 PM. We had heard so many good things about Met Her at a Bar, especially their brunch, so we were excited to finally try it. When we first looked at the dinner menu, we were honestly a little underwhelmed by the options, but figured the food could still be really good. We shared a bottle of wine that we really enjoyed and thought was very fairly priced, which was probably one of the highlights of the night. For food, we shared the beef Bolognese and the margherita pizza. We were actually excited to see that the Bolognese was all beef since so many restaurants make theirs with beef and pork. Unfortunately, it was pretty disappointing. It came out lukewarm, and by my third or fourth bite it was basically cold. Our waitress had mentioned that they prepare the sauce for over 24 hours, so we were expecting it to have a lot of flavor, but it was surprisingly bland. We couldn't really taste much garlic, salt, herbs, or seasoning in general. We were debating between the pizza, burger, and chicken sandwich, but our waitress had really good things to say about the pizza, so we decided to go with that. They don't have a beef pepperoni option, and some of the other vegetarian pizzas had Gorgonzola, which we're not huge fans of, so we went with the margherita. It was fine, but honestly just tasted like a pretty standard restaurant pizza. Nothing bad about it, but nothing we'd go back specifically for either. We thought about getting dessert, but after the Bolognese and pizza we decided to pass. They had a lemon doughnut cake and a chocolate cake, but at that point we weren't really excited enough about the food to keep ordering. Overall, I'd probably give our dinner experience 3 stars. I don't want to be too harsh because they've only been open for about four weeks and I'm sure they're still figuring some things out. They also have another location, so we did expect the food to be a little more dialed in, but I definitely wouldn't write them off completely. Most of the reviews I've seen are actually about their brunch and people seem to love it, so I'd still come back to try brunch and hopefully have a better experience! read more

I have been a fan of Met Her at Bar ever since they opened their first in Mid City. The owners and staff are so welcoming and the food is always consistently good. This new location has a great open environment and love how there is several different spaces/vibes in one. The main room is great for socialization, the side room is perfect for more intimate conversations and the outdoor patio is great for the wonderful LA weather. I have gone for both dinner and brunch, brunch has been my favorite thus far. I appreciate the Asian flair to breakfast items. I recommend the Thai Fried Chicken and Khak Jiao omelette for something different and with a little spice. The also had cotton candy on their mimosas! What a great addition to Main Street! Dropped in for Breakfast with a friend and sat at the Bar which was great for chatting with the staff and learning about the restaurant. It's a beautiful space with several different seating areas including an outdoor patio. Very warm and inviting. Food wise, we enjoyed the All American breakfast which included delicious toast and homemade strawberry jam. Also, the Thai egg dish with rice. Thumbs up on both. I will return soon to try the waffles The entire menu looks quite promising. There's an upstairs rooftop space that has not opened yet, and they have not introduced a Happy Hour yet, both of which will help draw customers. Since I met my wife at a bar, this restaurant has interested me quite a bit. I have visited their original location in downtown LA and the gluten-free waffle is delicious. I was in the mood for a waffle this morning, talked to my wife into going got there at five minutes after eight to find their doors locked. Their website says they open at eight. Yelp says they open at eight. Now, to be fair, when I was it younger after meeting my wife at a bar, we'd go out to breakfast around 2pm. Around 815, we went next-door to Bread and Butter and got some of their delicious pastries, brought them home, and had them with some coffee. Here's a review of our breakfast then. Gluten-free coconut cake from bread and butter. Delicious, you wouldn't know it was gluten-free. Fromage and tomato pastry. Very good and flaky. I heated it, but the inside was still cool, the pastry perfect. Cold-brew Decaf Yogurt coffee, with coconut water and cinnamon. excellent Turmeric Latte with whey protein and creatine. As a local living right off Main St in Santa Monica I had been waiting (not so) patiently for this place to open. I have now been twice in the past 2 weeks. Once for dinner which was delicious - we were seated in the small dining area off the main dining room and it was great. Cute and intimate. We met both the owners (husband and wife) as they were going around checking in on guests and bussing tables. I went with 2 friends and we split a salad and 2 entrees and it was the perfect amount of food. I just went to brunch there this past weekend with 3 girlfriends - on a very rainy Labor Day Sunday. We were seated in a cute booth in the main dining area. It was a very lively and fun atmosphere. We were waited on by Grace - who was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and a general joy to interact with. The entire staff was great! We had great brunch mimosa and wine and we all loved our dishes. I had the chicken and waffles (which I will always try if the restaurant has it) and it was amazing. The chicken was so tasty and loved the waffle. The Thai flair with the spicy sauce was great! We had a great Saturday morning at Met Her at a Bar with my wife and daughter. We arrived without a reservation, needed a high chair, and hoped to find a table away from the sun, all during a very busy brunch rush. The hostess was incredibly helpful and patient. Even though the restaurant and patio were packed, she looked for every possible option and got us seated after about a 20-minute wait. We really appreciated how welcoming and accommodating she was. Our server was just as attentive. With a baby, meals can sometimes feel unpredictable, but they helped us get settled quickly, kept everything moving, and made us feel completely comfortable. I ordered the breakfast burrito, my daughter had the pancake, and my wife chose the omelette. Everything was delicious and well prepared. The atmosphere is another highlight. It feels like a place that can accommodate all kinds of guests, families, couples enjoying a date, or friends meeting for brunch. There was a great energy throughout the restaurant, even with how busy it was. Excellent food, friendly service, and genuinely thoughtful hospitality. Overall, has potential. Bathrooms a bit of a mess. Strangely having to fight with paper towel dispenser took up a good portion of my time. It's the little things that become the big things. Food was on point for opening months. Atmosphere great, though to be determined if the restaurant is going to lean passive aggressive in terms of service and ethos or truly become part of the community and keep it local - and all that means. Time will tell. Pro tip: please don't sweep at my feet while I am eating, nor seated. Even if it's closing time. Just be direct. And keep in mind, attention can become overly attentive and therefore disruptive/break the spell you are trying to create. read more

I've been to this Westside location of MET HER AT A BAR several times now for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and am happy to report that the team behind their previously existing restaurants in the Mid - City area have once again hit another home run! I love the wide open space which is light and airy during the day, and warm and moodier with adjusted lighting at night. The bar is lively and the outdoor patio is breezy and has a fireplace for nighttime. The crowd is Westside local / hip but the FOOD is once again the main attraction. The salads are AMAZING and they have brought some of their best fresh homemade pastas to this location such as the Cacio E Pepe & Rigatoni Vodka, also the homemade Neapolitan style pizzas have traveled across town, as well as their WAFFLES for brunch/breakfast. ALSO their famed lemon glazed donut with ice cream for dessert is here so what are you waiting for?? Service was fine, the noise inside was very loud, needs sound treatment to soften the hard surfaces and harsh noise level. Very disappointing to say the least came here on the recommendation of my dad and the review stars. I'm from Vegas known for their high end high priced breakfast/ brunch restaurants. So with that comes an expectation of the atmosphere, food and services. Came in a little after they opened seemed like the kitchen and the staff not quite ready, but can look past that, but if you open at 8 am you should be ready to serve. I will say our waitress was pleasant and the staff that did bring up food were nice. Unfortunately our sides came up before our actual food and was lukewarm. I wasn't impressed by the cookie butter latte as I've had better and my actual order was lukewarm, my husband avocado toast was basic. The Thai Fried chicken and waffles was a hit with my dad. What disturbed me the most was the owners kids running around the restaurant, jump roping and climbing over and through the booths to the point my dad had to say something to one of them as it disturbed him. The kids were running around and through the kitchen. This could not be up to code to have kids in an upscale restaurant running around like it was a McDonald play place. You're charging me highend prices with a ghetto atmosphere is not ideal of a breakfast/brunch restaurants I want to visit again. For the price point you need to do better. read more

Recently had brunch this weekend. First time trying this restaurant. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by super friendly and welcoming staff. The place is very open and they even have a gorgeous outdoor dining area, which is where we choose to sit. We were greeted promptly by a super amazing server and she was very attentive to our needs. She gave great recommendations on both food options as well as drink options. I choose the all American breakfast. It was delicious. I really enjoyed everything about my meal. My meal was presented well and it was cooked perfectly. Pancake & the French toast are a must try as well. Many options to choose from depending on what your palette desires.
