This restaurant had a strong pungent smell. The vietnamese eggrolls i ordered was not authentic. $5 for 2 small spring rolls. The sushi I ordered was not fresh and the fish was hot, this was very sketchy, i almost hesitated eating. The chow fun i ordered was the only thing that was decent, but super overpriced $12 for a veg chow fun!? Our waitress was gone after she dropped off our food, never came back to check on us nor refill beverages. Service was below expectation. Finally! A restaurant that has the spicy symbol that serves spicy food! I had chicken and eggplant with brown rice that had the spicy symbol and had that slight tingle to my lips to signify it was spicy was present. The meal came with a choice of soups and I had wonton. My husband had sushi. His choices were eel and oshinko. It was wrapped in seaweed but the seaweed did not have the salty, bitter taste I associate with seaweed. We both sampled each other's meals and gave both a thumbs up. They serve alcohol along with soft drinks and tea. We will definitely be heading there again. read more

They have moved to the new Main St location. This was my first time eating there and was for lunch with my wife and son. We had crab rangoons as an appetizer, they were very lightly fried and were tasty. I ordered one of their "lunch box" specials. For $9 I got a California roll, a spring roll, rice, 2 crab rangoons, and General Tso's chicken. I was amazed at how much food we all got for the price. It was all very good and I was pretty happy to have found this place. For a Chinese restaurant this place is one of cleanest and appealing I've been in. I'm looking forward to eating there for dinner in the future. read more

This was our first visit here but won't be our last. We started with the Shogun roll and it was awesome maybe the best sushi roll we have ever had. Then we both had entrees both were excellent mine was the honey shrimp such a different and great flavor! We will be back, maybe sooner than later! If you're going to splurge, this is the place to do it. We went on a Saturday night and we were seated immediately. Appetizer portions were just enough for 4 people. We each ordered dinner boxes. Each box comes with a soup, 2 sides and a California Roll. The Crab Rangoon is the BEST I've had. Service was friendly and quick. Prices are extremely reasonable for the portions. We've eaten at cherry garden for many many years now. When located at the center of Keene my biggest complaint was the smelly unclean bathrooms. The food always looked and tastes amazing. Now Located on Main Street the atmosphere has greatly been improved, and no complaints in the bathroom departments. Out of 20 times I've had 1 that I was very disappointed in. The sushi rolls were chewy and unfresh tasting as if they'd been sitting for some time. I actually had to throw them away. The other 19 times out of 20 have been consistently fresh and delicious. One of the better Chinese restaurants I've been too in the New England region. They have great food, and I would definitely go back again. For appetizers, we had the crab rangoon, and they were delicious. I really liked that the dumplings wrap were a little thinner than most other restaurants, so that you can actually taste the meat of the dumpling. Also, they were piping hot and not just luke warm like most other restaurants. I ordered the house special, sesame chicken with white rice and water. If you order a house special plate you might want to split it with whomever go with because the dishes are humongous. I would say at least enough food to serve 3-4 people. If you like rice, like I do, you might want to order an extra side of rice because they only give you about one cup of rice for that huge amount of chicken. We went there on Thursday night July 30th at around 9pm. It was completely dead. Other than people who were picking up take out there was only one other couple who came in after us to dine in. The restaurant seemed clean and the staff was nice and quick to serve. However, I was at first a little dismayed that there was no one in the restaurant (other than people getting takeout). Also, there was an initial 3-4 minute delay where there was no hostess to be seen when we came in, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. read more

When we arrived the place was fairly empty which is usually an indicator of the quality of a restaurant. We sat down and there were the usual fried noodles for dipping on the table. They were stale and thus inedible. And thus started the meal. I was looking to do pros and cons here but I only have cons. Here they are: Service was slow: 2 weight staff for the entire restaurant. It was slow and it wasn't busy. Hot and sour soup had a weird flavor - like they had used some oil past its prime. Dinner boxes were greasy. Spring roll was more greasy than usual - similar off taste. Beef and chicken..heavy with grease. The box itself was also hot so maybe it had been microwaved? I asked the rest of my party if they enjoyed their meals and everyone said no. Upon leaving the proprietor couldn't even be bothered to stop browsing the web to look up and say the usual "thanks and good night". Would not return. read more

I have been to the new Cherry Garden on Main Street twice since they moved. I was a big fan of the old place because it was such an appealing room. I sorta hate to slam them. It has been our regular go-to and my daughter's favorite. I can tolerate the slow service when they bring a great Hot Pot,but the last couple of times the quality has slipped. Today I ordered General Tso, as i often do, and I swear that one bite was nothing but fatty skin wrapped in breading. When I pointed it out to the waitress she insisted that it was how they always served it. I guess I have to discount the dozen times that it was done right as a fluke. If you had to pick the best Chinese food restaurant in Keene it would be Cherry Garden. Fresh vegetables, food not overly fried, a more delicate and less oily version of the traditional take-out. However, if you are looking for pad thai do not order from here. Order from the Thai restaurant. I might as well have just made noodles myself with some chicken. Not even close to the delicious dish that pad thai should be. Otherwise for Chinese food it is one of the best choices in Keene. read more
