Cherries are king here, in the best possible way. We had the cherry charcuterie and cherry beer, both quality, and the burger- no cherries involved- was really delicious. For dessert, we sampled the cherry ice cream, which was icy but had good flavor. Highlight of all the cherry items was the pie- sooooo good! We bought a whole one. Service was efficient and super friendly, the front patio was a lovely place to dine, and the music was great, too. Upcharge for beans??!! This place is fun and I should be writing a good review HOWEVER I think it is absolute insanity to be charged an additional $5.00 on top of the normal price of $15.00 for a black bean burger (yes, my veggie burger was 20.50 as I also added pickles). So, substituting beans for meat is an upcharge. I'm not talking about an Impossible burger or a branded veggie patty, a black bean patty. When I asked the reason (honestly wondering if there was one) there was no answer. I understand the $0.50 upcharge for pickles, they are probably tired of seeing customers not eating them (and if so why not just make available upon request?), but a 5 buck upcharge to eat beans is just nonsense. I priced bulk quantities of ground beef and black beans recently, not surprisingly beans are 1/3 of the price of meat. read more

Stoped in here for dinner after a long day of travel and even though it was busy we were seated right away and had drinks before we knew it. They had outdoor and indoor seating, with live music out back. Our food came out pretty quick and was delicious. The grounds consist of three total buildings, the restaurant, a shop to sample and buy all things cherry, an ice cream shop and a winery. We went at 3pm. There were only 2 outside tables left. The outside tables are both in the front and the back of the restaurant with plenty of shade. The inside is bright and lively. The wait staff were very friendly and knew the ingredients in the menu items. Every item on the menu had cherries or cherry flavoring. The food came out within 10 minutes. Everything was well prepared and delicious. My only issue though small is that the silverware is actually plastic ware. There's extra sauces/ condiments on the tables also. Two other buildings on the property were a tasting room and a large gift shop with free tasting of many products. read more

What a nice full or sample dining experience in here back on October 20, 2018 while vacationing in the area. There are three (3) buildings to enjoy here in Glen Arbor, Michigan. The Cherry Republic shopping store, the Cherry Republic Wine Taste and Store, and here at the Cherry Public House for Cherry Food Dining. We stopped in here after visiting the other 2 building stops. There was a light rain to dodge in between walking fast, but it didn't stop us or other hungry vacationers. The décor in here is cool with areas everywhere to see and view no matter where you sit as you wait for your food. After walking in you can place your order at the counter in back or sit down and have a server take your order. We opt for the sit down since after wine sampling it was time to sit still. lol Order the 3 flight sample for $ 4.00 for mini sample tastes of different beers. I did with a porter, "Dead George" cherry ale and their famous "Glen Light" a homemade American Lager. I do not like Porters. There is a dish of peanuts, raisins and other snacks to enjoy with the beer flights. We also ordered to share was the Beer Cheese which was perfectly blended and the fluffy pretzels for dipping. Next we shared an order of the Smoke & Spice Tacos which to me was fantastic with the tang and sweetness throughout the meat. Now for the FIRE BOMB.. the "Little Town Poutine" with cherry sausage from the Cherry Republic Store next door with diced up pieces in the sauce. Little did we know that the sausage used in this casserole dish was the spicy flavored one called "Habanero" . OMG after trying 3 pieces I was done and ate around the sausage to enjoy the fries and sauce. BEWARE & BE prepared!! Or for you hot to handle guys .... go for this dish and chase it with a glass of ??? or Sweat it out. The service was average timing since the place was crazy busy but the flow was moving throughout our visit to eat lightly and drink our flights for lunch. Most of the beers are brewed on the premises so its nice to read the wall of choices. (Photos attached as always). The employees are polite and work hard as well during the Summer and Fall months. I saw some guests enjoying the pulled pork mac and cheese, burgers, salads as well. Need a cool dessert ? to cool off from the poutine lol, then there's an area for a ice cream cone or dish for dessert on your way out at the back of the restaurant which also sells bakery delights. NOTE: On the bottom of one's bill receipt.. A 1% refundable Tariff has been added to your bill. All proceeds go to the Leelanau Conservancy to support farming in our area. Long Live the Cherry ! While Cherry Republic itself is fun and only slightly gimmicky, we felt that the Public House was even more. It was very expensive and the food was in small portions. My chili was less than appetizing and my husband didn't particularly enjoy his barbecue. If you can sit outside, it's a nice little garden spot. But it can get very busy. I think there are better restaurants in Glen Arbor that out more thought into their food and service. read more

I have been going to Cherry Republic since it was a single building and before it was such a tourist attraction, so I have seen all of its various iterations over the year. Their menu is extensive enough that you and everyone you know should be able to find something they like. My favorite by a mile is the grilled cheese which is often full of cheese crisped edges - my favorite. They have several different cherry related beers and wines available for the adult set and several different cherry sodas for those who want something non-alcoholic. There are plenty of places to sit both indoors and outside at various tables on their now sprawling cherry kingdom. Beware, though, that despite the plethora of seating that during the height of the summer season it can be difficult to snag somewhere to sit at times. Of course you could always do carryout as well. My one negative is that the staff seems to be flustered a lot (though this is partially understandable given how hectic it can get in summer) and that on occasion you may have to remind them that you are waiting for your order. Overall I suggest visiting Cherry Republic for a nice lunch and some serious cherry product shopping, just make sure you aren't in a rush. read more

You have to like cherries if you dine here. Almost everything has cherries in it. There was only 1 ice cream flavor that didn't have cherries and it was cotton candy. We get it, it's cherry country, but a bit much for us. We tried 2 different beers. Both had cherry in it. Our meals were ok, nothing amazing. One was good, the other was not. This appears to be a very popular place to go and I think it may have to do with the inviting outdoor atmosphere. A relaxing vibe. The service was friendly. I guess cherries are just not for us? One of the solid lunch options in downtown Glen Arbor. Like many places, they have given to QR-code dystopia, but at least the way they do it here has some upsides. You place your order directly from your table, which means that if your children are ravenous hooligans, you can get their macaroni and cheese and whatnot rolling off the kids menu within minutes, buying you time to sip a beer and peruse the menu with a little more grace. The food is more uneven, so I would stick with the burgers and sandwiches if I were you. read more

So glad we stopped here for lunch while visiting Glen Arbor! I love it when a restaurant uses local ingredients to make their menu distinctive. I think almost every item on the menu included cherries of some sort! The sodas, teas and lemonade also had cherry flavor! We sat at the bar and ordered after receiving great suggestions from our server. The pulled pork sandwich came with slaw and a cherry butter relish and was served with shoestring fries. It was outstanding! We also ordered the white chicken chili, which tasted so warm and comforting on a cold rainy day. It came with a jalapeño corn bread scone. My husband ordered the cheeseburger which came with house made chips, and he said it was very good. The person sitting next to us at the bar recommended the Dune crunch cookies which contained cherries, toffee pieces and chocolate chunks. They were amazing! Before you leave the area, be sure to check out the retail shop, where they have lots of free samples of the products. Check out the dark chocolate covered cherries and the cherry turtles. I am surprised to be giving this 5 stars, but at its price point it exceeded my expectations. Their $5 (!) hard cider was fantastic, and the mains were good quality, albeit slightly unimaginative. Pulled pork is obviously their speciality, so I would stick to it. I do wish there were more pulled pork options on the menu that were less carby, or at least that the buns they used were of higher quality. That said, at ~$12 per course, I can't really complain. The adjacent cherry business is charming as well, and I like how well-landscaped the garden between them is. read more

Excellent place. Friendly staff and amazing food. We didn't even get to take a picture before we eat. Impeccable at doing all the extra stuff due to Covid situation. I had the Cherry Salad w/chicken at lunch. It was great and I don't even like salad. We came back for dinner and I had the Pulled Pork with fries and baked beans. Again, very happy with food. They had a great system in place for ordering, Bruce was very helpful while we ordered, they had a handheld ordering/payment system, we were given a number and asked where we would like to sit outside. We sat and soon afterward our food was brought to us outside. We ordered the burger w/ cherry bacon marmalade and seasoned fries, pulled pork dinner with 2 sides (mac and cheese and jalapeno slaw) the pulled pork was delicious, also a public house salad with Chicken (it had dried cherries, feta, purple onions (normally would have pecans and tomatoes, but she's allergic and requested none) and we got the pretzels and beer cheese. This place is located across the street from Art's Tavern. At first, I did not know that they have a restaurant, but boy, was I glad we discovered it. The place is beautifully decorated both inside and out. It has such a nice ambiance. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Me and my friend shared PB 'n J (which actually is a kid menu, but for their cherry jam, this could have been one of the best ways to enjoy jam, no?), beef chili (made with cherry salsa), and pulled pork sandwich. Everything tasted so good! The PB n J was served with a side of ants on a log (green apple, peanut butter, raisin) which is exciting for our inner child. The cherry jam indeed was tasty. Both beef chili and pulled pork sandwich were also delicious! My friend was so in love with the fries. It's crispy and very well seasoned. Overall, this might have been our favorite dining spot in Glen Arbor area. Very reasonably priced too read more

Like eating at an amusement park. I mean, I get it, I suppose, and I can play along. No menus, no waitstaff, just the QR codes on outdoor tables to streamline (for the restaurant, not for you). The poor "host" ends up being the concierge for the entire space, catering to patrons' random needs since he has no support. Apparently, inside seating has full service with waitstaff. Must be packed. Food comes anonymously and magically whisked out the door, conveyed in microwaveable to-go containers and paper bags. Classy. "Can I get you anything else?" Um..who are you? Food is decent, no complaints here really, but the sweet 'n' salty reminds me of carnivalesque fare. For example, the fries were suspect with obvious traces of sugar and Lawry's.
