1) A rude female took our order and was obviously annoyed. She rolled her eyes and sighed several times while making our plates. We gave her no reason to be so irritated with us. 2) Brisket should NOT be chewey and stretchy!!! Especially brisket claiming to be "Texas brisket". I can make a better brisket anyday without all the regular smoking and bbq tools. 3) Sides were weird. There are no "typical" sides which I find odd. Amazing BBQ right off I-55. We had brisket and 1/4 rack rib combo. Plenty for two with sides. The sides are as outstanding as the meat - unbelievably. This place is a find. Meat is tender, moist and packed with flavor. Potato salad is firm, cold, mustardy with enough mayo to bind. Coleslaw has a tang, not the sweet gloppy sauce we run into too often. The broccoli cauliflower salad has ranch dressing and bacon. Tooth tender and just right. The bun with the brisket was moist and just right to absorb one of the five BBQ sauce choices. Cornbread was also worthy. This place is worth a side trip. Service was warm and efficient. They sell sauces to go but we couldn't indulge as we weren't checking bags. Open six months. I have been here several times since they opened. I've always been such a huge fan really. The last couple of times I've been here though I have been disappointed. The brisket has been stringy and neither the pork nor brisket much smoke at all. The first couple of years you could really see the pride they took in serving award winning smoked meats. Now I feel like it's rushed. No bark and no clearly visible smoke ring. Little to no flavor. The icing on the cake was this past well when I went in to order carry out. The place was GROSS. There isn't anything CLOSE to any observation of sanitation guidelines. Pre or post Covid19 guidelines. The food stations were filthy. Then, THEN you're only choice for bbq sauce was to serve yourself from industrial sized plastic pump dispensers into little tiny cups scattered everywhere touched by Lord knows who with sauce and who knows what all over the counter. Disgusting. I noticed some cleanliness issues last time I was in (pre covid19) but, this week was just unacceptable. I give two stars because I still have hope. This was not my cup of tea. The ambiance was fun but that's it. I prefer not to sauce my BBQ and had to sauce all of this. Chose the ultimate platter to try it all. It was all under seasoned I couldn't taste any rub or seasoning up front. It was all dry as well. The half chicken had a good color but rubber skin. Stopped by for lunch and ordered the brisket double meat meal with sides and a drink. Unfortunately, the brisket was mostly fat that I found indigestible. I was somewhat surprised because I had visited the establishment previously and found the meals ok. First off...I love the feel of this Bbq restaurant. Both the inside and outdoor area. It's the kind of place you just expect to get good Bbq food...it looks so inviting...I give them an A+ on vision. The new additions are pretty neat as well. Having a huge game/concert/bar area right next door is a huge plus for patrons of this establishment. I recently went for my second visit to this place. The first time I was too impressed, but I couldn't exactly remember why that was. Well, that was until I went for a second time...and the same exact experience happened. I love brisket, so on my second visit I ordered a big platter of brisket and a sausage. When the woman up front got the brisket out she opened the foil and revealed a brisket completely stuck to the top of the foil! She continued to try and open it and pry the brisket off from the top of the foil...in doing so she was lifting the brisket that was still married to the aluminum foil up in the air...then the brisket fell apart onto the cutting board. I was surprised when the flat and point actually separated as it fell. By this time all of the fibers were an open mess, had there been any moisture...it would have dried out quickly, luckily for them all the moisture was long gone during the cooking process. At this point I'm remembering my first experience...same thing happened. Super dry brisket clinging to the foil. The women now begun to try and cut the brisket...the whole thing just reduced to a stringy mess of mangled brisket jerky. I kindly asked if she'd prefer to get another brisket to try...as it was obvious this one shouldn't have been served...you can see it on her face too...she knew it. She stated this was what the owners had given her to serve. I am astonished...twice! I really want to like this place...but it's not even a question of going there a third time. My brother talks so well about this place and I used to trust his palate...but now I wonder. This wasn't simply a case of brisket sitting around and drying out a touch...brisket can be tough to keep. This is a case where whoever Bbq'd this thing either doesn't know how to do it or doesn't care. You don't go that far over done and serve it by accident. Either you know what's going on with your bbq or you don't...I'm not sure what the case is with Cherry Red Roasters. But if you do in fact know what bbq should be...even remotely...I cannot even come close to recommending this place based on my two experiences. I do just hope I got the only two bad briskets served here...and all the people who love this place are right...you guys and gals cannot be that clueless about bbq. I'm still rooting for this place...but I won't be going back for a very long while. read more

Was ok for a lunch. Had the pulled chicken combo for $10 with some cucumber salad and baked beans. The salad wasn't that great - was very bland. The chicken was a bit dry and absolutely needed bbq sauce to get some flavor. And the baked beans were ok. I did like their houses sauces. We got the ultimate platter that came with chicken, sausage, pulled pork, ribs and of course the brisket. Everything was delicious. On my 2nd visit here I was not as impressed as the 1st. Went there at 6:30 pm and they did not have any ribs left. I ordered the brisket instead with a couple of sides. The whole meal was just warm, it needed to all be heated up more. The brisket itself was good, but the garlic mashed potatoes were terrible - very dry and just flaking apart. Hidden gem! We found this place while traveling by on I-55 based on another yelp review. It has tasty smoked meat, perfect casual side dishes and a very fun kitschy atmosphere. This place meets all my needs. It has a kids meal and 40 beers on tap. Cherry Reds is really a three in one. One area has food and bottle beer, then there is an outdoor beer garden with 8 beers on tap, next is the bar with 40 beers/ciders on tap. Really good barbeque, highly recommend. Portions are large, the sides are good and there is consistent quality for the most part. Biggest variation is the ribs, which my husband orders frequently. 1/2 the time fall off the bone tender and juicy, 1/2 the time more difficult to eat and get off the bone. Always tasty though. Pulled pork, chicken and beef always reliably delicious. Try the brisket beans, I'm not a fan of baked beans, but these are amazing. I've been here quite a few times now & I have to say this is some of the best BBQ I've had. My favorite has always been the ribs, smoked over apple/cherry woods. SO tender & full of great, smoky flavor. I also really like the pulled pork. What I'm starting to become OBSESSED with is their Thursday night (after 5 pm) Golden Wings.
