I stopped in to place a take out order. Looking around the dining space is quaint and small and is decorated with some interesting flare. The service was pleasant and welcoming. I will say there isn't a spot to sit if you're waiting on take out. I got an order of veg tempura and the ramen tantan-men. The take out dish for the ramen was cool as it separated the noodle from the broth. The flavor was good, spicy as expected. The veg tempura had a nice mix of different vegs but the crispy tempura softened in the enclosed container for take out. I think I will try again and dine in. read more

1/13/24: quick review - would we go back? Yes. Good ambience and flavorful food. Nice service, cute decor, if a bit cramped. Not so quick review: stopped in around 4 o'clock. The first thing I noticed was the parking was cramped & scarce. There is parking in the back (north side) but it is one way heading west to east. We ended up parking on the street on the other side of the their north wall. I was not going to chance my new car in that lot. Even at 4:00 is was already pretty hopping with customers. Despite that, we were seated right away, and our server (Lucia) came over quickly for our drink order. Three of us were seated at a table for four; if there were four of us, I think we would have been overly crowded, especially when four meals/drinks/desserts. Our food order was taken shortly after (not a long wait time w/ Lucia!). I did order a beef & noodle dinner. Yet because I had changed my mind so many times, when the chicken & rice was set in front of me, I failed to remember I had ordered beef! My sister pointed it out; after we all had a good laugh, Lucia offered to take it off our ticket (she didn't, but I had already started to eat it). Ha ha ha. It was all right, but really not much flavor; I definitely think the beef would have been better -- and now we have a reason to return. The gals w/ me all enjoyed their food and beverages as well. The green tea cake was all right (reminded me of tiramisu in its composition) and I think it had red beans in it (which I love) but I would not order that again. First time I've been here after two years! I gave a five star review before but our experience today was not so great. The three stars are for the ramen, which is still great, but I docked off two stars due to sub-par service. 1. We returned the chicken katsu to the kitchen because it was too rubbery, which is an indication that it could either be overcooked or undercooked. It just didn't taste right. 2. We also ordered lemonade but didn't hear about it towards the end of our meal (apparently it ran out). 3. Looking for sushi and japanese dishes, this place satisfied. We started with the spicy gyoza which is served in a spicy broth. Very good! Its the broth that is spicy, not the gyoza. We also shared the spicy tuna roll and the typhoon roll (spicy tuna and tempura shrimp roll), both were very good but we liked the typhoon roll better for the crunch of the tempura. Ehhh not sure why this place is hyped up as much as it was. Could be a lack of good Asian restaurants in the area. The food here was below average at best. I did enjoy the agedashi tofu but the batter was thick and the tofu pieces didn't seem to be cut, I enjoyed the tempura vegetables they put with it (unusual). The hakata tonkotsu ramen was nice and hot but the pieces of chasu were chewy and not tender. The ramen itself seemed to be very Al dente, which may cater to some but I prefer it softer. My most recent visit I wanted to switch things up and went for the Yakisoba. It was not too salty nor too sweet like other places I have tried. The service was very good, I had a gentleman server his name was Norberto and he recommended the tan tan men ramen, I got it with udon noodles and a side of steamed vegetables. This soup's flavor is spicy and delicious, one of the best soups I've ever tasted. The udon noodles were robust, chunky and complimented the soup so well. California was nice crisp and fresh a great little appetizer and the green tea milk helped with the spice of the soup. If you're a green tea lover you've got to give it a try. This place has become one of our go tos. I could eat the spicy goyza pot every single day. This time around we decided to try a few new dishes. The summer rolls were delicious, the only thing we did not like was the sauce and peanuts on top, I would recommend to get that on the side. Other than that the yakisoba, shrimp dumplings, and their ramens are always amazing. We do love the food here but the only area I could see some improvement in is the customer service. Amazing food and great service too! My husband is a long time Tokyo express fan, and I just learned that cherryblossom noodle cafe is part of the same restaurant as them! We went for lunch and there was a bit of a crowd, but we didn't have to wait super long to get our food or anything. My husband got the sukiyaki beef udon soup. I got the tofu steak and a veggie sushi roll. My husband wasn't sure about the soup broth, so he ended up getting stuff from Tokyo express, but I loved my meal! It was super filling and flavorful! The sauce on the tofu was so delicious and not too heavy. I liked how big the veggie roll was and that it had tofu too! We also got a sale flight, which was presented in a very cute way. Met up with a girlfriend here the other day. We both were interested in trying this place and it did not disappoint. It was Christmas Eve around 2pm so there was not a large crowd. I ordered the Ten Ten Spicy Ramen with Chicken instead of Pork and it was AMAZING Flavorful and spicy goodness. As an appetizer we ordered the Shrimp Shumai and it was great I also had one of the cocktails (pineapple cocktail) it was ok too much ice not enough cocktail but good! The food is really good here. They start you off with a nice warm bread roll along with a large bottle of water to share at the table. The menu is varied between Italian pasta dishes to ramen to savory noodles. We have enjoyed many dishes along with a varied selection of yummy desserts. Ambiance is nice, but intimate only depending on the area they sit you in. If they sit you in the overflow in Tokyo Express, it somewhat detracts from the experience but is still delicious. We had a nice but unusual waiter last time we were there and was very honest about his opinions on the food which was a bit weird but entertained us. It pains me to write this review because I have and will still continue to recommend and support this place. I would like to reiterate that food has always been a 10/10 for me. Each plate is made with such care and is extremely flavorful! The reason for this revision is due to the last 3 visits I have had. It was 3 others and I sitting in the back during a very slow night. Our waiter was extremely rude and cut me off mid sentence when asking for water. We had to ask our waiter for water 3 times and we still did not receive a bottle of water until halfway through our meal. When I went to ask for a to-go box, again I was cut off and they just walked away and did not give me a chance to ask. The first time I though, maybe this individual is just having a bad day, but now it was been a few times and I am starting to think - if it was my first time here and I receive this kind of service, I most likely would not come back. Yakisoba with Pork belly - The noodles were cooked perfectly. It was soft but still had a nice chewy texture like Soba noodles should be. The sauce was rich but not overpowering. It was salty, then sweet. The pork belly was cut into small thin slices. It was the perfect protein for Yakisoba. All the ingredients complimented each other really well. It was really good. Bolognese with sausage - The sauce was aromatic and refreshing. However, it was a little bit too sour for me. I was hoping for more umami flavor. The grounded meat added a nice texture to the sauce. The sausage was flavorful with a good hint of spiciness. The service was outstanding. Our waiter consistently made his round to check up on us. It was overall a really good dining experience. Big people, y'all know what I'm talking 'bout, but the seats are comfortable for wide bodies like mine. The food was disappointing as far as taste and texture are concerned. We started with two appetizers - the Gyoza and Seafood Tempura. The Gyoza was ok, nothing to wow us, just ok. The Tempura? Y'all this was a plate of unrecognizable seafood that had been fried to potato chip consistency. Completely tasteless and fried bits of whatever it's supposed to be. Our two main dishes fared no better. The Korean Spicy Asian Beef was neither spicy nor Korean. Or rather the dish didn't have noticeable tastes of Gochuchang, sesame oil or red chili powder, the ingredients used to represent Korean food. This tasted more like beef Yakisoba than what it's called. The Chicken Udon had a bitter broth, sort of like a bitter green with loads of oils added. We didn't eat the main dishes so decided to order sushi rolls. I mean how can you mess up sushi, right? Yep you guessed it, they messed these up too. The Eel roll and Spicy Salmon rolls were too moist and too bland. We left these on the table to be trashed. read more

Great food; terrible service. My friend was telling me about this place and it was her turn to pick the lunch spot. Immediately we were greeted by a friendly, lovely lady with short silver hair and glasses. She made us feel welcomed. She sat us and we ordered water while we decided on our meals. This place is tiny so we overheard her tell the server about the water. He scoffed. A tall man with long blond hair in a pony tail and his underwear showing. We didn't think much about it until he came over and dropped off our water and didn't greet us. He circled back later and said "you ready?" My friend asked him if they had Bento, he didn't reply and only pointed to a board with their Bento selection and walked away. By now, we knew something was wrong. When he returned he said, "ready?" I asked him about a fish plate and he was annoyed, responding "I don't eat fish, I don't know." He was rude; was it us? Someone seated next to us was familiar with him. He told the lady "if this is any indication of how my day is going to be, I'm fu@#$*." Later we overheard him tell another server "they should give the night shift to someone that wants to be here." He was unhappy and it showed. So here's the breakdown: - Food: 5-stars - Lovely lady with silver hair and glasses: 100-stars - As#$%hole server: 0-stars - Restaurant: 3-stars *due to the bad mojo I'm not sure why this guy is working if he's miserable and bringing the whole place down. When we finished, I added an order to go (because the food is great) and we asked for the check to be split. He walked past us, threw the check on the table and said "sorry it's rung up!" Went with group of 11 - ate my bento last, as I was assisting my kiddo to eat first. Meats on my bento had gone bad and smelled/tasted spoiled - both beef main and chicken on salad. I asked them to take off the single entry from ticket but was rebuffed with accusation of wanting free food (rice was eaten off of it for my toddler so they could have charged separately for that if they want to split hairs). While some members ate thinking theirs was ok (vinegar dressing in salad & heavy seasoning in beef covered the smell slightly but I have a hound's olfactory so I definitely caught it...) some also caught it in my party and just left the meats off the tray, not wanting to make a big fuss during the holidays (it was busy) but out of concern for health of other patrons, I asked them to acknowledge that their ingredients were compromised but they REFUSED. Male server/manager insisted dates on the meats were fine and that I was just trying to get free food. Pretty absurd response to a legitimate issue. Extra star is for our female server who was very nice overall and their other dishes like soups were good without issues. Main problem was the accusatory guy who treated a legitimate concern like it was a baseless complaint (other members of my party took a waft and concurred meats on my plate was indeed spoiled). Haven't been back to this place for YEARS. I do not particularly have a reason why this place creeped out of our usual rotation of nearby local spots. But after last night, I think I have an idea. I came by to pick a to-go order around a typical standard dinner rush. The employee that rung me up charged my card and handed me a receipt to sign but did not include my actual card. I signed it and proceeded to walk out the door. I am just accustomed to already having put my card away by the point I am signing the business's copy of the receipt. So in my head, I slipped up and thought I have everything. I proceed to exit the place, walk to my car, almost about to pull away until I suddenly realized I never got handed my card back. So I stroll back in only for the same employee to simply see me, grab my card from wherever she placed it (as opposed to handing it directly back to me the instant she is done swiping it or doing what she needs with it) and hands it to me with a sour look on her face like I'm the asshole. Once she realized that she still had my card, she should have at least made some sort of effort to yell, perhaps open the door and look to see if I'd already left, etc. Even some small or lackluster effort would have been appreciated. No, nothing. In her head, it is just awesome and protocol purposely inconvenience a customer. Lovely. Needless to say, I am not coming back here for a long long time. read more
