LOCATION: Super convenient, right off IH-10 on the Northside of the Tone. Parking lot is a medium size, and you shouldn't have an issue. Inside, Chester's is basically your average hole-in-the-wall burger joint. That makes it predictable, but also pretty welcoming and comfortable, which is a great thing in my book. FOOD: Burgers. They're great. That's the only thing I've had there honestly. I can't go there and not get one. It's pretty much everything you need. My go to is a double cheese and it's always great. Meat, which is my number one element, is well-seasoned, pretty moist but not too greasy, and delicious. They cheese and buns are awesome. They don't grill their jalapeños or onions, which I'd prefer, BUT it does give the burger a fresher, less heavy feel. That might be to your liking, but it's personal preference. Finally on burgers, they are BIG. Portions are Texas-size for sure. Fries are good, and I like that they aren't super crispy, but more potato and not too greasy. I would prefer more seasoning on the fries, but they are good nonetheless. Rings are solid too. DRINKS: Good beer selection! They have specials too, so that's a good incentive to try different things. OVERALL: Chester's is an awesome burger place. It's one I could come back to over and over. Bad customer service ruins everything. Our visit today (01/17/2026) around 3 PM ish was disappointing because of how the staff member (cashier) interacted with us. No warmth, no basic courtesy, and it completely killed our expectations of the place. Won't be coming back. There was just one person ahead of us before we ordered, and there were a handful of people dining in. Our food came out pretty fast, hot, and fresh--no complaints there. The fries are fresh-cut and delicious. My wife got onion rings; they smelled good, but I didn't get to try them. I think if you want a gourmet burger, there are other places to try. But this is a great small and independent restaurant, and it's always good to support local businesses. I noticed reviews said they were great, but a handful said they were just okay as well. Well.. it's Wed 12/17/25 & I've returned to discover Chester's on IH 10 finally got around to replace a new grill, hood, fryer in their designated kitchen area for all customers to witness food preparation.. yippee. Great job only having to wait a couple a years ;) Plenty of parking outside. The Dining room area was pleasantly decorated with a clean appearance & plenty of seating available at 3pm. Ordered a single cheeseburger (grilled medium) comes with lettuce, tomato, pickle & mustard on a toasted poppyseed bun which was huge 5 1/2" diameter compared to other burger establishments. Also had onion rings & large drink with free refills at $16.76 being reasonable. Tasted great. They also have a good selection of beers including my favorite the oldest American domestic beer Yuengling Flight. They had numerous courteous staff attending to various duties. Pleasant experience & will return for another one of their great big poppyseed bun cheeseburgers ! Thank you Chester's for providing great food nearby. read more

Pretty standard fast-food patty but great melted cheese, and I'm lovin' that poppy-seed bun. Green chili is good too, though it surprised me that it didn't arrive on the burger - it comes in a little plastic container which you then add over the top. Not gonna complain, it was delish. So double cheeseburger and a green chili cheeseburger later, this would rate a solid 2.5 stars for me. The patty was thin which I didn't mind but the bun over took the meat. The bun itself was ok- don't get me wrong, I love poppy seeds and don't plan on a drug test any time soon but the texture for me was a little chewy. The bun also wasn't warm for some reason as it looked like it was toasted. The shake is what will bring me back to this place because of how good it was! The burger was lacking something even my partner agreed how it's missing something it wasn't a burger I'd be like "wow that a good burger!" The fries are very oily so oily that when you squeeze the fry the oil will drip out. Service was okay, the guy who took our order just seemed mad, maybe he was having an off day. Not sure what's going on with Chester's...their burgers used to be sooooo good and flavorful, today (this is actually the 2 time I have been here in 30 days) and both times same critique: the burgers have no flavor. Hamburger bun did not seem fresh. Fries were nice and hot/fresh but agin, no flavor. $29 for 2 cheeseburgers both all the way, 2 fries ( because they are out of onion rings) and 2 drinks. I counted 6 staff members chit chatting while tables were dirty and customers moving about. I really don't like to see employees standing around when a place is full. I even had to clean off my own table bc staff was too busy talking amongst them selves. They were so engulfed in convo I didn't want to bother them, I know that's strange but seriously. I got bacon cheeseburger and the portion was huge so that's good, I liked the fresh ingredients the grilled onions and tomato, poppy seed bun and the BACON WAS PERFECT and even the mayo was spot on. The fries could've been better though, a little dry and could've used more cheese or a different cheese and not the one they used on the burger. Chester's is one of our family's go-to places, but I was disappointed after a visit this past Friday. The burger I ordered was ok - flavor was good, but the bun didn't seem fresh. It crumbled in parts and most of the poppy seeds were gone. I asked for extra crispy bacon, but it wasn't crispy. We've definitely had better burgers here before. We also got there a little after 8pm because I had to work late. The girl behind the counter told us that they close at 9pm and if we wanted anything such as a drink refill, we needed to do so before 9pm. My daughter got a kids meal and didn't get the ice cream coupon that usually accompanies it. At 8:50, we asked if it was too late to get a malt. I was told the ice cream machine shuts down at 8:45... It's not a big deal, but I was kind of aggravated because I had a long work day, and it didn't help that I felt mislead. Isn't a malt a drink, also? Either way, can I ask that Chester's put up a sign or something stating that customers can't order anything past 8:45? Had I seen it, I wouldn't have even asked. I won't say that we'll never go back to Chester's, but it won't be on my list of go to places if my husband or I work late. read more

Zero stars. This establishment is grimy upon entering. Wouldn't accept $50 bill as they say too much counterfeit. (!?) Not otherwise posted anywhere. If coming in as a group or more than two people, you are certainly going to spend over that amount so at least give your customers a heads up. Hamburgers were undercooked and the buns, top and bottom, are covered w poppyseeds. I never ever eat poppyseeds as a gastrointestinal doctor told me years ago to steer clear of them as they can cause many issues in the intestines by getting caught in small areas and cause painful gastritis. Best Green Chili on this side of the pecos! My fiancé and I love coming here to get our green chili fix and we appreciate being able to do that year round. Green chili on top of a greasy old fashioned cheeseburger is a beautiful thing, and Chester's does it so well. Onion rings are fantastic also, and fries are always great. I have two reasons they didn't get five stars. 1. I ordered a chocolate shake once and they use a cheap chocolate syrup so it didn't taste very good. Those cheap syrups are made with oil and it's nasty. If you are going to have a chocolate shake option either use chocolate ice cream or make your own chocolate sauce with chocolate and cream. 2. They don't filter the water they serve. I'm sorry but in SA the water is so heavily chlorinated you need to filter. I don't want pool water to drink, thank you. The company logo was like a throwback to Happy Days reruns, so I was very happy to walk in to an ambience of jukebox style 50's music. Yay! I was born in the late 70's, but who doesn't enjoy being transported to an era where we can imagine life was a little slower, a little more private and moments were meant to be embraced in the present and not social media. After I ordered, I realized it was probably a bit too big for my appetite but I sure did eat it all - it was too juicy not to. :-) I really liked the buns they used for burger too. I'll admit, I'm not sure if it was poppy seeds on top or something else, but whatever it was, the buns were fresh, soft and tasty. Complemented the burger well. Relaxed burger spot, with good sides, but burgers that could be much better with one change. At Chester's we ordered cheeseburgers, a bacon cheeseburger, a double cheeseburger, and a chili burger. We also had the fries and the onion rings. The sides were on point--home cut potato fries and well breaded onion rings. The meat on the burgers was good, and the chili of the chili cheeseburger did not have beans in it--hurrah! But the poppy-seed buns were too much. They did not seem to be toasted, and there were so many poppy seeds, they completed dominated the texture of the burger. It did not feel like I was eating ground beef, it felt like my mouth was full of seed. I doubt they will change the buns because they are known for them, but it is time for a change. However, there was a full staff and people in front of us and behind us ordering. There is really no ambiance to Chester's, it's an 89's burger joint that plays great music. The girl taking our order was great, smiling, talking and very helpful. The burgers were not good, not up to the hype of their history. There are several fast food burger places with better burgers, and the onion rings were way, way over cooked and should not have been served.
