1 star for the Food. 5 stars for the Exceptional Service. I came here tonight, on a fluke, in a state of requiring carbohydrates. The thought of chips & salsa sounded - spontaneously - like just what I needed, given the scorching weather, on my quest to find coconut water. I sat down, and ordered as such. The chips were drenched in oil and bland to the taste. Lacking salt. Then I ordered a chicken chimichanga with sour cream and guacamole. I tried the sweet corn side - meh. I sampled the rice - OILY! What? How is rice oily? I then carved out a bite of the chimichanga, and it was not good. Also, what was the cheese on top? Was it Velveeta? (Read more on this to come.) The black beans were OK. And the salsa was good. In a state of frustration, I sat - staring at this huge plate of deceptively good looking food - but tasting horrible and not at all serving its purpose. I could not eat it. The General Manager, Michelle, saw me contemplating what to do, and quickly came to the rescue - asking if everything was OK. When I told her and the courteous waiter that I was from California, she immediately offered a knowing smile. She said not to worry about the meal - it was covered. Also, the cheese sauce - though not used in their California locations - was not Velveeta, it was in fact "real cheese," and many people here in NoVA seem to really like the "queso". She asked if I'd like to try anything else, and I said thanks, but that I think I'll go cook something at home. "It's so hard to eat here," I exclaimed. I complimented the GM and the waiter on the salsa, left a $2 tip on a $0 (comped) bill (because I've been a server before, and the service was good - and we're still in a recession), and then promptly left, missing California, and true Mexican food. (Not to mention pure ingredients, sans GMOs and excessive oil.) read more

My husband and I got a birthday free entree! We had a fantastic dinner there!! First nobody knows about the reward well. My waiter told me that I could choose any. I chose the most expensive one. Why not?! He served chips and salsa. They were pretty tasty. 5 minutes later, he came back and told me that the free entree is up to $12.99. I should not haves changed my mind but I did, which took a while to his this mess. Oh, well... Margarita is only $3 on Wed. I ordered both frozen and rock. Both were delicious;q Fajita and Surf and Turf were pretty good. I really like the scoop of sweet corn. I wish they put some fresh green salad for each dishes. My husband did not like the texture of their beef steak. I liked the taste though. Both of us liked their pork. Rice and beans were a little bit salty. There were some issues but I'd like to give 5 stars for our waiter Franklin who did his best. Taste: Much better than i thought. Chips, salsa, pork, sweet corn, and margarita especially! Guacamole looked pretty good. I'd like to try next time. Price: $10-20 Customer service: Not excellent but pretty good. Atmosphere: Fun! Many groups and couples and singles. Mexican decorations. Parking lot: Free. You have to take both ticket and a receipt to a spot to get a stamp. Location: Awesome. Shopping area. Costco, Marshall's, etc... Caution: You will not be able to use their company's points soon. Hurry up to use them out! read more

The Tostada to-go was really delicious. I had eaten here once and dined in and wasn't impressed about a year ago. So the Tostada I had redeemed what would have been two stars. I wish there was a little more meat but overall it had tons of cheese, lettuce, tomato and even half of an avocado. The shell was very delicious and I tried both dressings which were both really good. I also ordered the brownie. I should have asked for the ice cream to be packed in a separate container because it was soup by the time I picked it up and ate it lol. read more

I'm going to adjust my rating since I think the quality has declined at this location. I also saw that on my most recent visit the progressive happy hour pricing wasn't applied to my items. Overall, I think the food quality varies too often to be dependable and since the service quality has also become inconsistent I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend this location. read more

One of the best Happy Hours in Pentagon City. $4 pints, $6 margaritas, and various appetizers. They have very friendly, prompt and helpful staff, there is plenty of seating inside and outside, and CDC guidelines seem to be followed. The food on the happy hour menu was good and the stuff off the menu looked great. We'll be back for sure. read more

Love this place! The service was excellent and the food tasted amazing! We got the Smoked Pineapple Mezcal with salt on the rim, the Tostada Salad, and the pick 2 beef enchiladas. They were adhering to COVID regs and provided plenty of space between the booths and tables as well. Happy Hour on the weekend from 3-9 you can't beat it. I would like to say my experience went without flaw, however I did have a few problems. I ordered a Lemon Drop Martini and Jameson and Coke. Both drinks we made completely wrong. After speaking with the manager Rudy, he was apologetic and understanding of the situation. He remade our drinks and made sure we were taken care of. I also ordered Chips and Queso which came out fresh and Hot. I recommend coming to this location. I would stick to drinks that are on the menu to ensure they are made correctly. Cheers! read more

I was told about Chevys by a friend that frequently eats there. I'm not a big fan of Mexican style food, until I tried the platter!! I'm literally known by name now that I dine at Chevys 5 times a week!! And don't get me started with the drinks!! The bartender I had the pleasure of meeting was Marquis. Angel was a doll, gave me compliments like your eyes are pretty & i love your voice. He wasn't my server but checked up on me constantly. My server was a lady she was good too and made sure I got refills on my water and my roommates drink as well. I can't tell you how the food tastes because i never got it. To start, the waiter simply moved a used glass from the table and then sat us there without cleaning the table. We did come late on a Sunday. When seated, my sister asked for water which we didn't get. We were told they did t have chips anymore, but the table seated ~10minutes after us got chips. We ordered drinks but we never got them. But the table next to us did...along with food. Since they acted like we didn't exist in a relatively empty restaurant we left. We don't expect much, but this was an unpleasant experience. If I were to read this review I would be thinking "well they must have been rude to the waitstaff or really annoying," but that isn't the case. We came in, we smiled, we waited patiently. read more

We came to D.C. for the spring break and found this restaurant after visiting museums. We are from Southern California and love Mexican food. Everything we ordered tonight exceeded our expectations. The chips were warm and crispy, salsa was excellent. Our food (shrimp and crab enchiladas, chicken fajita burrito, taco combo) were all delicious. The service was quick and great as well. If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would! I am here today and i am astonished of how dirty it is and how many people thought it was bad. We found boogers in our cups and the plates were dirty. All of the chicken was slimy. I had high low expectations and this restaurant didn't even come close to meeting them. I ordered a tamal with meat sauce, which was tasty, with a great flavor and texture from the corn and well spiced sauce (the extra sauce from which I scooped up with chips I was not going to use in the salsa). The service was also not very impressive, despite us coming at an off hour. Our waiter was a bit brusque, and seemed more interested in watching the soccer match that was on TV than receiving our order, checking on us, and giving us the check. It's a shame, really, because the interior of this restaurant is well decorated and otherwise inviting.

I enjoyed it. For my entree, I had the Achiote Hanger Steak Fajitas. This was my least favorite part of the meal. I had asked the waiter if they were good and he told me he always recommends it. I didn't mind the sides that came with it. The rice and beans were pretty good and I liked the guacamole. What I didn't like was the actual steak. It was very tough and hard to bite into. What was weird is it was completely red in the middle so I believe it was medium to medium rare, but the steak wasn't tender at all. It also wasn't very seasoned and the peppers and onions under it just seemed to be sitting in oil. I did ask for salt and pepper, but even with it, I didn't like it. I ended up not finishing the meal. Finally, I had ordered the corn cheesecake as a dessert. I now realize they sent out churros instead, but I guess I wasn't paying attention until after the fact.The churros were OK. I would have preferred more chocolate sauce on mine. As you'd expect from most food trucks the service is made to order. When you go up to the counter and tell them what you want they make it fresh! The truck is parked on Rhoside Green Park (sandwiched between Courthouse and Rosslyn) so if you live in either neighborhood it's easy to access from walking distance. And since it's near an Arlington green space there's usually some seating nearby you can pop a squat and eat lunch. Given spring time is approaching this seems more doable. Just yesterday I was driving by to visit the same friend and saw a long line for this place! Most people in Arlington know how great this spot is, it is a terribly kept secret! Can't comment much on how long the line was busted as I went during a time when it was windy (but warm) and it was mid day. When I drove by it was pushing dinner time past 7pm. I love the food here! But since I live closer to the storefront location in Lyon Park I usually end up ordering food from there (review on that location is coming soon)! If you like authentic Mexican food that's fresh and delicious, you'll enjoy this spot!

We tried the grilled gem lettuce, marinated cucumbers, street corn, hoisin-glazed pork belly bao buns, P22 cheeseburger sliders, spicy shrimp & pancetta pizza, funghi pizza, dan dan noodles, rigatoni norcina, and the sesame steak skewers. Everything was delicious, but the standouts were the dan dan noodles (rich, savory, and packed with flavor), the funghi pizza (crispy with earthy mushrooms and perfectly melted cheese), and the sesame steak skewers (tender, juicy, and coated in a flavorful sesame glaze). The hoisin-glazed pork belly bao buns were soft, fluffy, and packed with melt-in-your-mouth pork, while the rigatoni norcina was creamy, comforting, and perfectly cooked. The grilled gem lettuce was also a fresh, flavorful way to start the meal. For drinks, the white sangria and pomegranate ginger mocktail were both refreshing and delicious. Dessert didn't disappoint either, the flourless chocolate cake (with candied pecans instead of hazelnuts) was rich without feeling too heavy, and the churros were light, crispy, and perfect with the caramel and chocolate dipping sauces. I don't often write a second review for the same restaurant, but after another truly excellent dining experience at Chevy's in Arlington, I felt compelled to share an update. We often meet a friend who lives in Pentagon City for dinner, and although that area has dozens and dozens of dining options, Chevy's has become our go-to spot, and for good reason. The service here consistently sets the bar high. Every visit, the servers are friendly, attentive, and responsive without ever being intrusive. This time we were fortunate to have Claudia again, who not only remembered us from a previous visit but once again provided exceptional service. She checked in just the right amount, made sure everything was perfect, and brought such a warm, genuine energy to the evening. As on past visits, Kristin, the manager, came by to personally ensure everything was to our satisfaction. That small but meaningful gesture shows how intentional the team is about hospitality. Of course, the food itself is always good. Warm chips and their fire-roasted salsa arrive immediately, and we always order the queso dip which is creamy, flavorful, and consistently great. While they have all the Tex-Mex favorites, I especially appreciate that they offer healthier, lower-calorie options such as skinny margaritas, grilled salmon, steak and shrimp, and more. I chose the fajita salad with chicken, which was prepared table-side and absolutely hit the spot. What surprises me most is that more people aren't dining in. I suspect many don't realize how easy it is to access...there's a large garage in the building that lets you walk straight inside without ever going outdoors, and the exterior signage isn't very prominent. It's a gem that shouldn't be hidden. If you're in the Pentagon City/Arlington area and want good food, a great vibe and warm hospitality, and consistently great service, Chevy's should be on your short list. I sat in the bar section waiting for a friend to arrive... as a talked to another patriot, I realized it had been 27th s and I had not been greeted, after the lady I was talking to waived the waiter over he finally took my order, which took another 40 mins to receive from someone else(another bar tender) who brought me the wrong drink. Needless to say the waiter and the supervisor (Jay) showed very poor service and communication skills. Not quite sure how he became a manager however he's very poor at his job! I could go on and on with this review but I will say this was one of the poorest experiences I've had in a long time. Although I probably wouldn't consider this place to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area, I really do enjoy coming to Chevys. The service during my most recent visit was outstanding. Our Server was quick and fast on her feet with the drink re-fills and she even came back with more tortilla chips before we had even finished the first order! I like the nice variety of the menu items. They also offer a lot of veggie options, which was great for my girlfriend! Sometimes I can go for veggie food myself depending on my mood. I ordered the chicken tacos with rice and black beans. This included a side order of guacamole. My nephew had the chipotle chicken enchiladas, and that received high marks as well. My guacamole was missing the cotija atop. The salsa was Fresh & delicious. My issue this visit was with a manager/supervisor who was not familiar with a partnership or former partnership with "The Playseum". I presented the discount coupon given to my family at the Annapolis location (Playseum) to the host who then gave it to the MOD for the override. He looked at me weird like I asked for him to do a personal favor. If the partnership with The Playseum is over, confirm that first before you assume or accuse any guest of anything. And if you don't know about the relationship, emails and trainings are needed. 4 stars because he ultimately honored the coupon. read more

Great for groups. I work in the student tour industry. I have been in this profession since 2006. This place takes care of the myriad of special dietary needs, allergies, etc better than any other place that I have worked with. This spring, I brought two 3 bus moves in. I had email contact with Silvia Ayala, the manager prior to each group. One group had over 25 allergies, dietary restrictions. She consulted with her chef, got back to me, and informed me what they would do to accommodate the needs. Once we arrived, Silvia greeted me with a smile, and went over the special requests again to insure that we had not missed anything. She then brought out the special meals in a timely fashion. The food is pretty good, the drinks are always great, but Delia is EASILY the reason I am a regular patron. I do not live near this location and no longer work nearby, but I frequent because she always greets with a smile, in addition to being courteous, professional, and personable. I've brought several friends and co-workers here and some have become regular customers of hers as well. I was craving Chevy's so badly after being out of town for 6 months where there was no Chevy's. My first trip, I went to Greenbelt location and it was BOMB!! so naturally, I wanted more. I ordered from Crystal City location and I was less than pleased. the food's flavor was very different than the one i had 2 weeks prior AND it had crab shells in the enchilada. I have NEVER had to spit out so much shell. that is less than enjoyable. also, my stomach bothered me for a days after. I have been going to Chevys for years and I have been to quite a few different locations but I must say my experience at Chevys this weekend was easily my most pleasant experience yet. From the second we walked in the way we were greeted at the front door to the amazing service throughout the meal, the manager even took the time to come and personally check on us. This is my favorite place to come in Pentagon City. Staff is outstanding and the food is remarkable. I like to sit in the bar area because the bartenders are friendly and engaging. The rest of the staff feeds off the energy which makes this a place to go regardless of your age. Folks like to work here and it shows. A lovely place to have a quick bite to eat. The atmosphere was very inviting, service was pretty fast and friendly. The general manager stopped by the table a couple times to ask if I had been here before, we had a great conversation. I was surprised how attentive the servers and managers were. The brunch menu is the reason I keep coming back! The food here is very very very good. I see they have a lot of new faces. My server was Ashley, she was nice, and had my food order and drinks out in a jiffy. The restaurant was slow and peaceful, but I felt very comfortable with the service and attention to detail.
