So, I've been coming to Robert (Chewerks) for alignments for almost 2 years now but I have always put off writing a review only so I can make my judgement not only on what's on paper but also how the car felt after a number of different alignment settings. With that being said, I can finally make an assessment based off the car's performance and my personal experieneces. First off, Robert is extremely knowledgable when it comes to alignments and familiarity with the local race tracks and I feel this is a major importance when it comes to aligning a track car. He has experience with fwd, rwd, and awd configurations which also is a plus when looking for recommendations on alignment specs. From the past 2 years, I've always come in with some feedback on how the car performs and every time we are able to think it over and try something new to accommodate my driving style and 9/10 it results in a personal best. The last thing I have yet to try is a corner balance. I've been putting it off so we can tune the suspension a bit more and get some consistent driving behavior before going the next step. I will write a follow up review once I hit that plateau in driving and go for the corner balance. I feel that is the next major step in getting faster at hpde. Aside from alignments, Robert does race car prep from coilover and turbo installs on your track car to general maintenance on your daily driver Pontiac vibe. Another plus is that the adjacent shop is a transmission rebuilder which I will be taking my tow rig (chevy suburban) in for the 4l60e rebuild and upgrade. Really fabulous shop. I'm pretty picky and ended up coming here all the way from the west side. I was really happy with my choice as you can really see the quality of a shop in the details. Rob aligned my 350z and it has never felt better. The car hits the track very often and I needed to correct my rear toe and camber after changing suspension. The steering wheel was also much straighter after the alignment. After he finished on the lift, I was told to drive around the block and confirm if the steering wheel was straight. Fantastic service. I still can't believe Robert took me in on a Sunday as early as possible so I could get back to the family. He put me up in the lift and dialed in my car to perfection for my next race event. When he was done he shot me pictures of the 50/50 balance and weight distribution as well as the alignment specs. Based on great reviews on here and referred by 88Rotors, I bought my GX470 in to get the wheel alignment done after getting the lift. Robert squeezes me in the last appointment of the day. He did a great job. The initial price was fair, but he charged me an extra $75 to removed the SPC upper control arm to adjust the alignment was a bit steep. Robert is awesome. I had considered returning to this other really great, well-known alignment shop for my corner balance/alignment, but decided to just give Chewerks a try as i needed some pretty S2000-specific help. I am so SO glad that i did. Robert knows his craft, and additionally really went the distance for me. And i'm a total stranger. What i thought was going to be a simple corner balance and alignment turned into a nightmare. All of my eccentric bolts for adjusting camber/toe/caster were all completely jacked due heavy corrosion. Rear subframe had to come off to get a few of them as they had completely seized inside the bushings. The front end wasn't much better. And i needed the car for a 800 mile road trip the next day, and a big show that weekend. Robert not only had each and every item (bolts, compliance and LCA bushings, collars, nuts, rear LCAs) i needed, but he stayed late that night and came in early the next morning to get the job done so i could go on my road trip. While my timing was certainly lucky as he was able to arrange this in his schedule, Robert is also just a great guy who loves what he does and takes care of people. I had Chewerks do an alignment on my new 2020 Supra that is lowered on CCW wheels. He did an excellent job! This isn't the kind of alignment shop that only does what the settings say, they will set up the car for the best handling on the street or track, and/or change camber for proper wheel clearance on lowered cars.
