New York has really changed my view of Thai food. I used to shy away from it as I had thought of it as a rather heavy cuisine that made use of lots of oils, making me feel lethargic afterwards. Of course, that is not the case and my experience at Chiangmai Diner is proof of that. Came here on a Tuesday evening with a pal and for starters, the interior of this place is very charming. The back room has these floating lanterns with long tables that are swoon-worthy, and we saw that they have an outdoor patio with string lights. We shared the sai oua (sausages), duck salad, and vegetable drunken noodle. It was plenty for two people. The sausage dish and duck salad were great. Lots of fresh veggies that were clearly selected with care. I literally was obsessed with the thick cut plain cucumbers. It was delicious haha. The drunken noodles were great too! Despite the many options for Thai food in Bushwick, Chiangmai Diner really sets the bar high. Thai food is all about the aromas, colors, flavours, and textures. I've backpacked through Thailand and Chiangmai Diner is able to capture authentic Thai dining experience well. Yes the menu is extensive but the pictures are actual representations for what you're getting - the chefs here are extremely talented. Roti massaman, curry puffs, khao soi, bamee moo tod, gaeng hung lay, and the mango sticky rice. Everything was flavorful, beautifully presented, and delicious. You can't go wrong here. I can't say enough good things about the food here. The appetizers and main course items were all some of the best Thai food I've had in New York. I would say the lava cake was good, but it wasn't the best I've ever had. It would also go well with ice cream. Which it's not served with. The service was good. My friend and I were seated quickly despite not having a reservation and were attended to soon after. The restaurant itself is also such a vibe and beautiful. Super super flavorful!!! I ordered the chicken Pad Kee Mao to go and did not expect it to be as spectacular as it was. Usually when I get "Drunken Noodles" from other places they tend to be subpar, but Chiangmai Diner did not disappoint. The noodles were a perfect texture, the sauce was extremely savory and the spice level was just right. The lady at the front was very friendly and the delivery guy was super communicative. We visited without a reservation, so we sat outside. The food was delicious, and we really enjoyed our meals. Our waitress was juggling both inside and outside tables, so it took a while for her to attend to us, but she was friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, our date was interrupted by some rats, which is a common sight in Williamsburg. While this was a bit surprising, I understand it's not the restaurant's fault. Now to the food , what's special about this place is that they have authentic Thai street food and also favs like pad Thai but I liked that they had so many different things on the menu and the dessert menu looked amazing . Decided to come here on a Friday for lunch with my husband. If you live in the neighborhood, you know this building has had numerous different establishments before. We had never been to any of them, but decided to finally check out since we both of Thai food. The restaurant is so cute! I love the decor and all the plants. They also had Christmas decor which is fun. The servers were very nice and let us pick where we wanted to sit. They gave us menus which was a bit overwhelming since it's like 15 pages long. We decided to the lunch specials which came with a choice of appetizers. I got the panang curry with Tom yum soup and my husband got the kra praw khai dao with the spring rolls. Everything tasted great! I had a taste of the kra praw and it was very spicy. My husband loves spice so it was good to him, but definitely too spicy for me. Date of Visit: 04/11/25 Occasion: A friend from out of town was visiting. First Impressions: Super cool decor and ambiance! The place was more spacious than I thought. Food & Drinks: I got the Larb kua Chiangmai, and my friends got the Gaeng Hung Lay and Khao soi Chiang Mai, and Pad Khee Mao. Larb kua Chiangmai, my dish, which is the photo, was good, the presentation was cool, and decent portion. However, I don't think there was anything too special about the dish; it was seasoned well, but that's all: well-seasoned pork with authentic sticky rice. Also, will add that the pumpkin in my dish was not good; probably because it was not in season. This place specializes in North Thailand dishes, so I recommend using this opportunity to explore and try to order something aside from your go-to. Having bites of my friends' dishes, the flavors were unique and earthy, making it interesting. The Pad Khee Mao was such a small protion as well, so that adds to my reasoning for trying the more unique dishes. Overall, I enjoyed trying out what North Thailand had to offer! Atmosphere: Loved the atmosphere, really cool decorating, and there is another room in the back, so it feels a bit spacious despite the entrance area. I loved watching the TV near the kitchen, it had Thai food reviews, and I would catch myself watching the content. Price Point: Dishes range from $20-$23. There are more expensive one's but I am referring to the general dishes. It's honestly not bad pricing for the portion and quality. However, for the og Thai dishes like pad thai and pad khee mao, the portions are so small for $20, which is not worth it at all. Spend $2-3 more and get a more fun dish. Final Thoughts: Service was nice, no complaints. FYI, you have to put $20 down to reserve, which you will get back later. Throughout this review, I encouraged you to go out of your comfort zone and try something new. You may not love your dish, but I think that's the fun of trying new things and opening your horizons :). read more

Love the decor, came on a friday night and it wasn't super busy. We sat near the door and because they have so many plants, they also had a ridiculous amount of flies. They need to do something about those flies.... The restaurant gave complimentary lychee drink and pork belly appetizer. There wasn't much flavor to the lychee drink and the pork belly was hella dry. We order the roti pancake, kanam jean noodle and kao soi. The Kanam jean was supposed to be spicy and sour but it wasn't spicy or sour. Kao Soi takes a bit to make so expect a wait. I did like that they added prok rinds to the kanam jean for the crunchiness. For dessert, we got the mango sticky rice. I was kind of sad they didn't add condense milk but not every place would add condense milk. I do like that the menu is a bit different from the thai restaurants we have the in neighborhood but their prices are relatively on the higher end. read more

Found this place because it had an unrealistic five-star rating on Google. Stopped by with a reservation for lunch on a weekday. The place is actually quite huge and seemed pretty new. The service and the food are good. The menu is very extensive and has everything from your standard Pad Thai to things I've never seen before. If you want to try new things and be a little more adventurous with your food then this is a good place for you. The only downside is this place felt like it was located in the middle of nowhere.
