Where to start... Baltimore is a seafood town, please don't serve frozen Asian clams, they are tasteless and nasty. The "Clams Posillipo" came out with these clams, horrible, the friend that ordered them didn't even finish them. It's shameful to serve these. The Arancini were unseasoned fried balls of hard rice with a cube of unmelted fontina cheese in the middle. The marinara sauce that came with them had a faint taste of bay leaf and nothing else, I added salt, shaker parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper and black pepper to it to make it taste like something. Thank God all 4 of those were right there on the bar, it made the sauce passable. The linguini Puttanesca had an odd metallic taste and even with olives and capers visible, it had no overwhelming taste of either and not much taste period. Again, I tried to Doctor it up. The best part of the dinner was the "Chips salad", that rather soggy, wilted, semi-room temperature plate of iceberg lettuce with a few rings of red onion, a couple of pepperoncini and a whole lot of parmesan dressing. It's a shame that the food in Little Italy has gotten so mediocre and with Joe Bennys gone there are now only a few places left. The house salad was basic plenty of parmesan sauce for topping. Veal parmesan was done very well and topped with rich Parmesan cheese and the required marinara. In Little Italy, you better do marinara well. The vodka sauce on the penne was very good too. Added the shrimp to round it out. Absolutely in love with this restaurant. We ate here for the first time 2 years ago and loved it then. We just came back to Baltimore and decided to try Little Italy again. Originally we started our night at Amicci's next door which left us feeling completely unsatisfied. We left that restaurant to come here, where we had a WAY better experience. This restaurant is family-owned with homemade bread and pasta. Our waitress recommended an excellent red wine and their homemade tiramisu and cannoli (we got all). We also shared the antipasto platter and fried calamari and both were excellent as well. She was also super friendly and chatty and made the place feel very homey. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and we were very glad to have finished the night there. I cannot recommend this place enough - please check it out if you happen to be in Little Italy! read more

This is a great place to have good Italian food! Located in "Little Italy" it's so cute and safe to walk through. The restaurant was excellent. Our server was great and nice and friendly. They didn't rush you through dinner. Our entree (Drooling Gnocchi) came with Chip's Salad, which in and of itself was so delicious. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked and it comes with a perfect smear of red sauce on top of the cheesy dish! I asked for more because it was a perfect addition! My friend had never eaten in Little Italy, and wanted pasta. Honestly my favorite restaurant in Little Italy is Chiapparelli's. Service is always wonderful. Our server this Saturday was sweet and kind. Came by many times to see if we needed anything and inquiring how our food was. Calamari was fried perfectly. Yummy house made sauce. I love the Chip Salad. It may seem simple, iceberg lettuce, a few grape tomatoes, a couple onions, parmesan cheese. But that dressing! Full of garlic and so flavorful! I love their manicotti! My fiancé and I come to Chiapparelli's all the time for dinner. The interior is beautiful and the staff is friendly. The service is average, but the food makes up for it. Everything we order is amazing and the portions are great. My favorite dish is the Drooling Gnocchi- it is topped with cheese and baked. Wife and I had lunch here on are trip to Baltimore back in October, it was fantastic! Started with the chip salad it was delicious homemade Italian dressing, lots of grated parmigiana, lots of garlic, onions, and tomatoes. A old school Italian salad we loved it! During these crazy times, I think Chiapparelli's deserves a shout out for staying in touch and posting great deals on social media. During COVID-19 they started offering meals that would feed up to 4 for $30 that included bread, salad, choice of 3 of the meals they have listed on their social and cannolis. We snagged this deal up for a romantic Saturday night in our home. We placed the order for chicken parm, penne with vodka sauce and lasagna and they told us it would be about an hour wait. They had a system to pick up your food (wait outside and then step in when your food was ready to pick it up and submit payment). We got home and dug in. This was our first time tasting their food and I was most excited about the penne with vodka sauce (seems to be a lot of hype about it on IG). The salad was amaze, SO good but the bread was super dry! I love the lasagna, the noodles were super thick. The chicken parm was also outstanding, we couldn't get enough! However, the penne with vodka sauce didn't really seem like vodka sauce. It was really oily and didn't have the color of vodka sauce. The cannoli was the perfect ending to a meal. Overall, this has been one of our favorite take out experiences during all of this mess. I would highly recommend! Unfortunately have to agree with all the bad reviews. Was in town and my son wanted meatballs. On Google, it is listed as kid friendly. It is definitely not kid friendly. Steps to get up. Made us fold and store our stroller under a table in a hallway. Very unfriendly staff. We ordered the crab balls to starts. They tasted ok but had some shells in them. We both ordered the chicken park. Their red sauce tastes like there is gasoline in it. I don't know how else to describe it. We also ordered the kids meatball and spaghetti. All the food was just very ok. The only tasty food was the house salad. The only positive was our waitress at least was friendly. Otherwise would not recommend. read more

Tucked in the heart of Baltimore's Little Italy you will find Chiapparelli's. I ate here twice in two days because when I asked people where they wanted to meet for a lunch meeting, Chiaparelli's was the first place they said. The restaurant is family-owned and operated; it is a wonderfully old school Italian dining. The very good and the lunch prices were very reasonable. Lunch one, I had lasagna with meat sauce and a small salad. The lunch size was big, so big I too half of it home. Lunch two, I had spinach and cheese ravioli with meat sauce and a salad. Both meals were great, and I left feeling full, but not stuffed. I thought they overdressed the salad on day one so the next day I asked for a lighter dress, and it was just right. We found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try last night. We are pleasantly surprised with this little gem. We ordered 3 different entrees and they came out with some bread and a short while later they brought out salads. I am assuming that the dressing was home made, but it was amazing. I regret that we didn't try to buy a few bottles to take home. I had the veal parmigiana with a side of spaghetti and it was excellent. My wife ordered cheese ravioli and we think they were both homemade. My daughter got a dish with broccoli, pasta and Italian sausage with a light sauce. I bought a deal for this restaurant via Restaurant.com. I made reservations online with ease. We found a parking spot right outside the restaurant but was unsure if we were able to park there. We read all the signs but weren't sure if we were in the valet area or not. We asked a woman inside if we were in the right spot. She said she knew nothing about parking and that we could ask the valets when they arrived an hour later. We were taken to a table immediately. Service from our server was terrible. We waited a little over 5 minutes before he came over to our table. He stopped at the table behind us twice before he came to our table once. There was no "Hello, I'll be right with you" as he passed. He just kept us waiting. When he finally came over, he never introduced himself. We eventually learned his name since it was on our bill. Our server never checked in on us either. The dining area had one large party in the back and about 6 other tables occupied. It wasn't as busy as we've seen it. He had 3 other tables he constantly went to throughout our time here. He would attend to the table behind us and walk right by without even glancing at us. We were an afterthought. We had to ask another server for refills twice. Our plates were cleared by another server. A blonde woman with shoulder length hair passed by and asked if we'd like our appetizers boxed up. We did, and she returned promptly with them in a brown bag. Our food was given to us by other servers. Not once did our server come to our table to ask how our meal was or if we even liked the appetizers. The blonde woman actually took over later on in the meal and was very attentive and polite. I believe she saw we weren't being attended to and took over, which we were very grateful for. She was the server for the large party behind us and one other table and somehow found the time to wait on us. When it came time for the check, our server magically appeared and returned with the credit card in record time. We've always had great service here, but this occasion was a huge miss. We had no issues redeeming the Restaurant.com deal. The food was good, as always. We were given bread and butter to start. The bread is room temperature to cold, so it's not piping hot as you'd expect. It was still fresh nonetheless. For appetizers, we chose the crab balls and fried mozzarella. My dad liked the crab balls but said he wouldn't order them again. The fried mozzarella was delicious. Everyone received a chef's salad with their meal. The salad is delicious and very filling. My dad ordered the Seafood Ravioli (homemade, stuffed with crab, shrimp, scallops) with light tomato cream sauce. The ravioli were huge. It was stuffed with seafood and he enjoyed it. My mom ordered the Chicken Parm (breaded, baked, tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese) with spaghetti. The portion was huge. She thought the chicken was crispy and was cooked perfectly. I ordered the Chicken Vincenzo (breaded breast of chicken in lemon butter and white wine sauce) with diced prosciutto ham and spaghetti. The lemon butter and white wine sauce was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the prosciutto ham paired well with the wine sauce. We would definitely return, as we always enjoy the food here. We went to Chiapparelli's late on a Sunday evening. We were the last patrons in the place. Everyone was very polite and helpful. The food was excellent. The place is very nicely appointed. And the prices were reasonable. The young lady in the picture is my stepdaughter. Went again after Xmas 2018. Celebrated my 4th anniversary along with my son and his lady friend. I like restaurants with tablecloths. It seems much more sanitary than hard surface tables that are cleaned with a cursory wipe with a damp rag that has swiped multiple other tables in the course of a day. As you can see in the picture, this restaurant has tablecloths. We had a fried breaded calimari appetizer for the table. There was plenty of calimari for everyone. The calimari and marinara sauce tasted good, but the calimari was more chewy than it should have been. This indicates that it was overcooked. I had eggplant parmesan, my normal selection in Italian restaurants. The taste and consistency was excellent, but the amount of marinara sauce and melted cheese was sparse. I had sautéed spinach with garlic rather than spaghetti. It was excellent. My son had veal parmesan. He liked it, but it didn't seem to have as much marinara sauce and melted cheese as is found in most other Italian restaurants. My wife had gnocchi. She liked it. My son's lady friend had pasta Alfredo. She said it was good. For desert, we split a Tartufo. That's a sphere with two flavors of ice cream, a cherry in the center, and a dark chocolate shell. It was terrific. Our server cut it into quarters before serving it to us. This restaurant doesn't have a parking lot, but street parking is often available nearby, they have valet parking, and there is a reasonably priced parking structure a few blocks away. read more

Came here with the family after my brother picked this place. As we first walked in it felt like a nice authentic Italian restaurant, however they do not serve family style as you might expect. We each ordered our own entrees and while waiting, the bread and salad arrived and were both good, and so were our impressions. As the main entrees arrived, I was slightly disappointed not to see larger portion sizes...but they still looked reasonable. We began sampling each other's dishes and one by one, the disappointment grew more and more. All the pasta sauces really lacked flavor. My dad eats the wheat pasta for health reasons all the time. We know it's not supposed to taste "great" but he had to return his dish because it was undercooked (a litttle tooo al dente). I thought the lasagna was the only thing here that was a-okay. Admittedly, we ended up here after the first restaurant had disappointing service but they more than made up for the experience to where we had a delicious dinner and great service.
